Anyone noticing this odd thing with six goals? The Rangers scored six of them again last night against a rapidly sinking and very Filthy team – the game was for all intents over after the first period.
3C Laba (7) started the show just 01:04 into the game (shocking!), chipping in a loose puck just outside the paint, assisted by Robertson (8) and Kartye (7). At 13:07, Zibanejad (26) from the left low slot put in a centering pass from Lafreniere (24) behind the goal line after Perreault knocked a Flyer off the puck; Gavrikov (14) would also get an assist. And in another shocker, Lafreniere (15) would score a PPG at 19:23 from the slot off a nice pass by Zibanejad (32); Trocheck (29) with the secondary. A first and last minute goal by the Rangers in the same game! Meanwhile, Darth Vladar was looking a lot more like Dark Helmut as the Rangers led 3-0 after one period of play.
Philly would get one back early in the second on a PPG when Michkov (16) at 03:54 chipped in a rebound from the corner of the net. The Rangers would answer back shortly with their own PPG from Perreault (6) at 06:40, another chip-in goal from netfront off a Trocheck (30) pass; Fox (26) with a secondary. The Rangers would add two more late in the period – Zibanejad (27) with a PPG at 18:40 from the low circle, assisted by Perreault (7) and Trocheck (31). Kartye (4), in front, tipped a Gavrikov (15) shot from the blue line at 19:00, also assisted by Laba (12). 6-1 NYR after two.
The only goal in the third period was a late one from Couturier (7) at 15:28. Final score NYR 6 PHI 2.
Game summary below:

The question for tonight is… will they give up 6? Hopefully not!
Mika now #30 in goals and #36 in points.
Many said it the past few years – though Panarin gathered up a lot of points, was he the problem? Seeing a lot more N/S play and what is more shocking, a lot more down low play.
But as someone noted in the last thread… been coming against not the best competition so big grain of salt.
Our 4th line did not look that good, but they did compete.

I have been saying it for quite awhile that Panarin as good as he is was always a big part the problem.
Panarin was a top 5 league scorer …he wasn’t the problem his contract and term was based on his age
says here Panarin blocked a trade to the hurricanes, who were willing to offer a contract $11-12M per. because he didn’t want to move to Raleigh.
Great regular season scorer for the Rangers, hope he never makes the playoffs again 😉
They are benefitting from a weak portion of the schedule. Tonight is a must lose game. They need to stay behind Calgary. Quick in goal may help.
need Panarin to make playoffs and win a few rounds for better draft position
They have a game against the Wild and a rematch coming up against the Devils that will be bigger tests.
if the Kings make the playoffs they will get the Avs in the first round. A series win is very unlikely. The return for Panarin is Greentree.
LeBrun saying what many others have but in a major publication 😉
I think the New York Rangers made a mistake not taking their best offer for Trocheck before the deadline. I get it; they had a certain asking price, and it wasn’t met. But Trocheck’s value was probably the highest it’s going to be, fresh off an Olympic gold-medal performance where he was a key member of a perfect penalty-killing unit for Team USA. His brand had been polished with perfect timing ahead of the trade deadline.
Trocheck turns 33 in July and won’t be playing any meaningful hockey the rest of the season. I’m not exactly sure how the trade offers are going to improve between now and the offseason. He’s got three more years on his deal at a $5.625 million cap hit with a modified no-trade clause (10 teams). He didn’t want to go west before the deadline. Let’s see if Trocheck widens his scope this offseason on the trade market.
I think it’s likely he moves, given the direction of the Rangers. I’m just not sure why it needed to wait until the offseason.
how can LeBrun state its mistake without knowing what the best offer was? And the trade offers could improve because the cap is higher

For some reason you seem to leave out parts of what I post. I never said he was the problem. I said he was a big part of the problem. Please get what I said right.
whats the big part?
Beezle your 10:20
Spot on. Drury more often than not waits too long to do the right thing. End result the wrong thing. I’ve said it many times before. It’s the sign of indecisive management just one of his major weaknesses as a GM.
East/West style of play, and where’s Panarin became the teams MO.
North South play is fine but someone needs to score
The problem with the Minnesota offer was Stramel. There was a pretty good chance he would not sign with the Rangers. If Drury knew that, and I would hope he did, Stramel was a non starter. I agree with LeBrun that it was a mistake to not trade him, for many reasons. I don’t understand how Guerin refused to budge on Yurov. Trading for Hughes, and Hughes only having this, and next year before he leaves, you would think Guerin is in win now. They needed Trocheck.
Drury had hinted he wanted close to ready NHL prospects, and that firsts were not a priority. I agree with that thinking, but you could flip those firsts for players. We shall see in the summer where ends up.

Very true but it won’t be Panarin will it? So if Panarin was in the lineup last night their east/west play may have put how many more goals tham 6?
Carey how dare you think outside of the box! Flipping high picks into players! I’m starting to think you may have been a GM 😉
Good news or bad news? The Rangers will win tonight.
If Drury forces Trocheck into a trade he’ll for sure blow his chance to learn the secrets of Nonna Caruso’s pizza sauce.
Think Wild ..and Canes will have to defend not trading for Trocheck if they don’t go deep this playoffs but if teams were not offering close to NHL prospects why would they offer multiple firsts? How many contenders have multiple firsts?
Panarin isn’t here because he didn’t want to take a pay cut…thats fine
wonder who the roster player Drury was looking for from each team that they should have to defend not trading for trocheck?
Crazy hot at the office, 50F at summit 65 base. Please bring back winter

So Miller was skating w/ no contact jersey at praccy. Take your time JT
Of course if coaches nephew as not here they could have both but 🤷♂️
Guess who’s going to Hartford when captain crumb returns?
Captain Dour?
Brisson….Berard…up down up down. Must do wonders for their confidence.
Rich
Just seeing Sheary in the lineup probably does the same thing.
Heard brisson had some offense to his game, let’s take a look. But played him 25 minutes over three games and the story doesn’t check out – back to Hartford with you!
