The Rangers travel to the city of Brotherly Love for a cheesesteak or two and a tilt against the once despised and still hated Flyers. Philly had great hopes of making the playoffs and maybe even winning a round earlier in the season but injuries and poor goal tending have them on the outside looking in, seven points back with a game in hand on the Bruins. They are 5-3-2 in their last ten (the NYR are 3-5-2) and if the Rangers aren’t prepared for a tough road game then someone needs a spanking. This is also the rubber match of the yearly series of games, the Rangers winning twice (once in SO) and the Flyers once (in OT).
Shesterkin (19-12-6, 2.50 GAA, 0.912 SV%) is expected in net against Vladar (20-10-6, 2.40 GAA, 0.907 SV%). The lineup today has a few changes – Iorio is out, Vaakanainen in; Raddysh is attending to family duties, Brodzinski in.
The refs today are Michael Markovic (375 GP) and Francis Charron (863 GP). Markovic is a bit of a homer, Charron pretty down the middle.
