Not yet confirmed reports are Panarin has been traded to the LAK in exchange for prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional 3rd round draft pick. The pick will be the better of the LAK or the one they own from DAL. If the Kings win one playoff round, it becomes a second, uncertain theirs or the one they own from CBJ. If they win two rounds, add a 2028 fourth-rounder. Below from hockeyDB.com

Seeing there are a few days before the next game, a blank slate for your Ranger comments, insightful or otherwise 😘

True, yet, Drury traded the number 11 draft pick plus other assets to Canucks for Miller who only would accept a trade to new york!
If McKenna broke someone’s for bothering his mother …that should move him higher in draft
Chris Drury on new prospect Liam Greentree: “We valued him, a prospect like him, higher than a ’26 or ’27 first-round pick. He’s an ’06 birth year and ready to turn pro and wrapping up on his junior career.”
McKenna had red flags given his play against older bigger players and now the off the ice stuff.
In college a wrestler friend got in a scrap with the cocky hockey goalie who had been drafted by Kings and twisted the dumb Canuck. The Sr Capt also a Dman was not pleased but I told him his guy was the instigator and chose poorly.

Greentree’s current coach
Drury is cleaning out Gorton’s mess?
The same Trouba who knocked Skidknees out of a playoff series to help turn a 3-1 deficit into a series win?
Key Details of the Incident:
Context: The incident happened on May 12, 2022, during Game 5, with the Penguins leading the series 3-1.
The Hit: Trouba and Crosby were chasing a loose puck. Trouba made contact with his shoulder/elbow, causing Crosby’s head to snap back, resulting in a whiplash-style injury.
Impact: The Penguins were leading 2-0 at the time of the hit but lost the game 5-3 after Crosby departed.
Reaction: Penguins coach Mike Sullivan questioned the legality of the hit, while the NHL Department of Player Safety deemed it not a suspendable offense, concluding it was a hockey play where the main contact was not the head.
Outcome: Crosby missed the remainder of Game 5 and missed Game 6 due to the injury.
I do remember Trouba for his… helmet throw.
Troobah had more minuses than pluses.
Btw, i don’t think Penguins made the postseason since that hit in 2022.
Trocheck is up next. There no excuse for screwing this one up. He has term, a reasonable cap hit and limited no trade.
Sounds like Drury is saying he could have taken a 1st instead of Greentree. The Kings are currently not in a playoff position. That could be a lottery pick. Greentree was picked 26th. BTW if they don’t make the playoffs they don’t win any playoffs series.

Alex- I would root for the Iraq national team over the Islanders. Would also never root for Devs or Filth. Sabres are a good suggestion, as they are at least a NY team and their fan base has also suffered for many years, so I would be with fans who feel my pain.
Miller cost more because of the term on his deal. And he’s younger and can play center and was the type of player they thought could turn this in the right direction.
Not saying I think he’s been worth it. Just at the time, why it cost what it did.
Right now Kings are WC2 by P%. They aren’t winning any tiebreaks way too many bettman points
With the rangers out I am all in on Sabres
Only time I root against Buffalo is if they are playing the rangers. Which ain’t happening this playoffs!
ORF – I guess Drury wanted to point out to the fans that – when you think I couldn’t have made a worse trade, it was much worse because I turned down a possible top 10 overall draft pick in a deep 2026 draft so I could get conditional picks, that probably won’t happen because LA won’t make the playoffs. So happy Rangers have the worst GM in all of professional sports.
I’m not as down on the trade as some. Not happy with the picks he got but the player looks OK for a late first rounder. Even if you think NYR draft an equal player this year, you still have to wait for him to be done with juniors or college. And lets be honest, do you really want Drury making any more picks than necessary? He could have parlayed better picks perhaps into another good prospect or young player, perhaps as part of a Trobuster deal 😂
If you want to use links from the sight formerly known as twitter, now as x, you must replace the x.com with twitter.com in the link. It works most times but now and then it does not. No idea why. Thoutube should always work. I think it does imgur. Beyond that, 🤷♂️
This Greentree kid looks great. What a fast shot. He’ll probably be sent to Hartford. We didn’t get what we wanted but this could be a wanted supprise. Drury needs to do better on the rest of the re-tool to keep his job. Don’t want JT Miller as Captain or player. He’s done nothing for this team and doesn’t have the clubhouse. And what has Sullivan done. ?????? AS much as I love Panaran he did give the fans & management the middle finger with his last second decision.
Panarin exploring his new LA hood
Trocheck trade is key but really wanted him moved before Olympics. Guess thats cap related to teams with most interest. Hope he stays healthy
As everyone starts to calm down, we can see what it was Drury actually did. I’m sure he was hoping for more than one team to choose from. Once it became just LA, he decided prospect instead of first rounder. Which makes sense for a retool. Greentree just turned 20. The wait on him should not be long. As opposed to a 18 year old draft pick. Drury needs to come out of the Trocheck, and possibly Schneider trades with as many guys between the ages of 20, and 25. If you can add a first along the way, great.
As much as we all dislike Drury;we have to admit we are stuck with him. Even thou it is a Ranger game. I am going to try and enjoy what happens tonight. Going to keep my eyes on bottom 6,because what we have at the top is not too much to get excited over.
Will always take prospects over kids (see Laffy the Limp); kid looks like he could be a scorer; shoot first player so team can get out of the Bread mold of trying to make one more pretty pass for the perfect shot.
I would watch the RFA market over the summer. That may be where drury attacks. Quite a few interesting guys out there. You could put Anaheim in a bind by going after one of their two guys. Gauthier, and Carlsson. They’d probably match, but you could make them think twice. Bedard is an RFA. Hard to imagine anything that Chicago wouldn’t match, but still intriguing. Same with Fantilli. The one that they would probably have success with is, Dorofiev.
Very rough estimate, and assuming Trocheck and Schneider traded, the Rangers will have around 30 mill in cap space this summer. They will also have around ( before trading Trocheck and Schneider) 8 mill in deadline cap space. They could take a contract on at the deadline to help another team complete a trade. Getting compensated for it of course.
Not that they need the cap space, but a Miller buyout is not bad at all. A Borgen buyout doesn’t really move the needle.
We already had a Gauthier. Did we have the wrong one? Am I seeing a pattern here?
Doubt they buy out Miller. That would be a huge White flag from Dreary.
Buffalo could be a dance partner given their ascension and trade chips
“He has legit offensive traits for the next level, but his skating and effort level are average and there are questions about how his game will translate,” Pronman wrote. “He projects as a middle-six winger with the ability to play on the power play, but his even-strength impact may be just OK.”
Very much a reason why he and Lafreniere should not meet anytime soon.
no need to buy out Borgen when you can easily move him
After next season Miller becomes a limited no trade. He can be moved then. No need for a buyout. No need to rush.
The Rangers will be the equivalent of a bad expansion team next year and in the hunt for the 1OA again. If we get lucky Jimmy will clean house. Drury won’t be here for the next Ranger playoff team.
If you have read pronman, you know he’s a one trick pony. He just talks about skating.

@corporal clegg
I used to watch that series. Have you checked out The Murder Tapes?
Caulfield couldn’t skate
Karprisov couldn’t skate
Etc
Coolio is 24 today. Hopefully no longer living in the Trocheck’s basement!
Carey I was more interested in the “effort” comment. If you have a talented kid that maybe needs a little kick in the butt, you really don’t want him around someone who has their effort questioned nearly every game.
I think the skating stuff is often overrated. Good to have a few speedsters on the team, especially to get in on the forecheck. But tatical skating is more important, just like the speediest receivers in football are not always the ones with the most TDs.
Hockey is as much as knowing where to be than skating around to anywhere with speed. Step skated like he was wearing a full diaperbut had the knowledge of spacing and anticipation of the puck going somewhere.
You know who wasn’t a very fast skater? Wayne Gretzky
they still need some speed …especially in top 6
Could definitely see them going RFA on centers Karlson or Fantilli ..don’t see Bedard as possibility…they would have to go north of 11M and Chi would match. a 10M offer would make Ducks/Jackets queasy
BobbyO,
Those AAVs would be matched. I think if the Rangers go that route, you are looking at the top tier, and 15, to 18 mill. That would get Anaheims attention. Otherwise, just wasting time.
anything north of 11M involves 4 first rounders which they don’t have right now. Don’t see them going that high. If so, they will probably pivot to sign and trade with Robertson in lower salary range.
Don’t sign an rfa when you’re a bottom feeder which we are
Compensation is own number 1’s
Which would start with 2027 draft when we’d still be near bottom
One guy will not push us to even middle of pack
Pronman doesn’t think anyone can skate. Everyone is below average. He doesn’t do the math and understand that’s impossible. Some of the reviews mentioned poor acceleration which is a problem. Quick starts and edges are more important than top straight ahead speed. See Rico Fata. Drury needs to change out his top six and no one says Greentree will do that.
He needs to hit on top picks- not give them away. Let’s see what he gets for VT.
They are in the same position as an expansion team. Lots of middling players and lots of cap space. Seattle is 12 points ahead of them. They should close that gap next year. If not try new management.
read somewhere that Seattle offered Bread 4 years at 12M and he said no
Another fub exercise: See who the Kings draft and compare him to Greentree.
Bread was very particular; after being in Chicago, Columbus and New York; he did not want to go back to a second tier city, esp near twin Peaks
Othmann sitting so he can play in Hartford during break
If he played tonight he couldn’t since would have played 16 in last 20 per Vince
Good idea. Does the new D they claimed get in tonight? Let’s see if he has anything to offer.
Orf
He seems to be in and morrow out
Mackey was sent down
Puckpedia shows no trade protection for Panarin in LA. They could trade him to anyone in the league after 7/1/26. There is enormous potential there for them to make Drury look like a moron. They are a team in decline. If they are sellers at the deadline next season he would be the piece most likely to move and they would have multiple bidders. Jimmy wouldn’t like that-we can only hope.
but that’s a different situation and contract
ORF….completely correct about Rico Fata. The guy could skate like the wind but didn’t seem to understand that it would have been a good idea to have the puck on his stick or somewhere close by. Gartner could skate like the wind….but he often had the puck and knew exactly what to do with it. Lafreniere skates like he’s carrying a Pachaderm and doesn’t seem to be doing anything well these days.
Greentree is a big slow winger with a good shot that plays physical and is not very good on defense. So we got Othmann 2.0? I’m much more excited now, our problems are solved. Drury is a joke.
I was not a very big Panarin fan, but given the fact that he is willing to accept a 2 year contract with no trade protection, why wouldn’t Drury sign him? I thought this was a “retool” not a rebuild. Did Panarin just go out of his way to screw Drury or is Drury even more incompetent than we realize?
Where was Greentree ranked in LA’s prospect list? Seems like he is not near the top of their top prospect list. How do you not demand one of Kings top 2-3 prospects?
