Not yet confirmed reports are Panarin has been traded to the LAK in exchange for prospect Liam Greentree and a conditional 3rd round draft pick. The pick will be the better of the LAK or the one they own from DAL. If the Kings win one playoff round, it becomes a second, uncertain theirs or the one they own from CBJ. If they win two rounds, add a 2028 fourth-rounder. Below from hockeyDB.com

Seeing there are a few days before the next game, a blank slate for your Ranger comments, insightful or otherwise 😘

We have 3 days to film. If they just broadcast a recording of a previous game we might think it was a new one. They all look pretty much alike.
I have read speculation that the Caps want Oreo back and the Rangers claimed him to include him in a deal with them. Drury isn’t that clever.
3 days to fill…
On a scale of 1 to 10, how bad does Drury screw up a trade of Panarin? I’m going with a 9.5. I won’t be surprised if there is no trade and he loses him for nothing.
Mkh
It’s most likely a 10. And I would not be a bit surprised if Drury ends up losing him for nothing.
The Panarin trade, Drury hands are tied a little bit, so I think it’s 50/50 he gets a good return. I’m more concerned with the Trocheck, and Schneider trades. Those have to be home runs, and I’m not confident he’s capable. Hopeful, but not confident.
When are you guys ever confident
When we see consistent positive results.
Confidence derives from competence
Sabres need to trade for both Tro and Miller to push them “over the edge”. Return, their ‘26R1, ‘27R1 and NYR eats some cap
Sabres came back to beat the struggling Puddy Cats last night. Folks starting to believe. Good for Ruff.
Jamesgeau
Carey. I enjoy your takes
Can you expand on Schneider. Why would we trade a young kid with such potential ? Or are you seeing concerns that may stick Eve when the dumpster fire is extinguished?
With the great reporting by NY sports writer’s for Rangers it would be nice if we could find out what is up with Noah Labba. With 3 weeks until we play again he could catch a break unless he is seriously hurt.
Over the years it really stinks that we are never told what the heck is going on with any injuries.
( Nothing to see here)
CC,
Would I trade Schneider?, no, for the reasons you listed. Here’s the problem. Fox is ahead of him, Borgen is signed, they really need to see what they have in Morrow, Schneider contract is up , and then could fit biggest reason to trade him is value. I know you are thinking, trade Borgen. Are you really going to get anything of value for Borgen that pushes the retool forward? I think the best way Schneider probably helps this team is as a trade asset.
Personally I think it a mistake to trade Schneider – in effect you are using him as a chip to maybe make the forward group and then…another prospect years away. Even our college prospects, as much as Drury wants to rush them, are still years away from playing more than 3rd line minutes.
Rather see them use Tro, Panarin and Laf to improve the top six to nine. And I don’t think Laf can be moved before the summer.
Carey I’d say it is not out of court to question how long Fox can be R1. Yes, the offense on the PP. I think the Rangers would be able to get more out of Fox by effectively making him R2, or at least 1B and cutting 3 or 4 ES minutes to get his ATOI to 19-20.
Jeff – very few teams give anything detailed on injury reports, though here and there you do see something more revealing, especially on longer term injury. Laba participated in the PP drills yesterday so the expectation is he’ll be on ice on Thursday. I do hope that unlike Schneider, they don’t ignore the shoulder/upper body over the summer. If surgery can help, do it sooner than later.
Schneider has been Meh and has not stepped up with the additional responsibilities and minutes in top pairing ….average puck mover at best …and what does his next contract look like? As noted they have Emery in the pipeline and possibly could draft The RHD that’s in top 3
Bobby’s,
I agree with your assessment of Schneider this year, but I don’t think anything happening with guys on D should be held against them. The season is a mess. The team is a mess.
Also BobbyO,
I am not a Drury basher. I have probably made as many excuses for him as you have. But sometimes the proof is in the pudding. Right now it’s not looking pretty. He can change everyone perspective on him in two smart trades.
If players are going to require extended rehab or surgery to be ready for the beginning of training camp they ought to start it now. That goes for Fox too. This season is gone. Drury and Co. need to prepare for next season. A repeat of this sh!tshow next year should be cause for a complete overhaul of the front office. They can’t just play it back next year.
In addition to his incompetence, Drury is a PR disaster. Showing complete disdain for your customers can’t be a winning strategy. He has to shown his face occasionally. He can’t be a recluse like Howard Hughes running his very public business without any contact with the public. The FIRE DRURY chants will just get louder as the fans look for a scapegoat for their frustrations and Dolan will eventually tun on him like he did on Gorton.
Don’t really follow Vince much so can’t speak to his sources. This is the first I’ve heard TBL mentioned at all
Vince:
I am skeptical that Emery will be an NHL player and he is at least 2 years away. One more at ND and one in the AHL. Fortescue may be closer but he isn’t a lock.
Drury has to hit some home runs in this sell off. He can’t repeat the 2004 Sather disaster highlighted by the trade of Ranger icon Brian Leetch. Leetch was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs just prior to the trade deadline for prospects Maxim Kondratiev, Jarkko Immonen, a first-round pick in the 2004 draft, which became Kris Chucko (pick was later traded to the Calgary Flames), and a second-round pick in 2005, which became Michael Sauer. That looks similar to the packages being talked about for Panarin and it’s a reminder of how bad things could get for the Rangers in the coming years.
Vince is looking for clicks. Tampa is using Point on LTIR to be cap compliant and have no #1s for the next 2 years. I don’t see how they could be in on Panarin. Every deadline deal Drury has done in the past has leaked days or weeks before it happened. I don’t think the Panarin deal gets done before the Olympics. Of course they could work it out during the break and announce it after the Olympics.
Don’t thing you’re a Drury basher Cory but the doom and gloom get boring….back to Schneider what would be a reasonable next contract for him? Think that’s the main question
Sauer updates?
Schneider is arb eligible RFA. It shouldn’t be a very complex one if it even got that far. I’d say 2x$4.25 is fair to both sides.
Schneider is the same exact spot as Miller was last year. They chose not to commit to Miller. As much as this may bother a few people, Miller was/is a better player than Schneider.
And Miller wound up getting 8m
Jury is out on Miller imho; curious to see what he does in Carolina over time which has a unique structure that should translate well to his game. Trouba’s resurgence away from Miller raises an eyebrow or two.
Shneids has shown much more offense as in past seasons on break outs and has a decent shot; this season all the D seems to be hanging back, not willing to take join or lead the rush. Would rather have Shneids at ~4M than Victor Borgen
SN,
I don’t think that’s the right question to ask. The question to ask is this, would you rather have Schneider at 4 mill, and an extra 2nd, or 3rd pick from a Borgen trade ( I’m being generous on the return)?, or would you rather have Borgen at 4 mill, Filip Bystedt, and a 1st round pick, from a Schneider trade ( being conservative)?
The latter !
Miller has scored twice in the past 46 games after scoring twice in opener. 4-18-22
Trouba 8-16-24
If a bottom 4 dman yields that return, send him packing; either way Rangers will suk for the next 3-4 seasons
SN,
If you can’t get the return you want Schneider, then you dump Borgen for picks, while most likely retaining, and you keep Schneider. 4mill for a third pair Dman is not good cap management. That Schneider negotiation is going to be tricky.
Non need to retain on Borgen trade ..he has several years left ..someone will trade for RHD
Sully/management have made it abundantly clear they think Schneider is better than Borgen. He could be moved at deadline for a mid-low 2nd rounder – as Bobby points out there would probably be more than one deadline suitor.
Is Robertson the 2nd on the left? I’m not sold on that, think they could have him play 3rd pair without too much worry.
The answer to our top nine problems is on the wire: Blais (MON) on waivers
I wonder if Lindsey Vonn can play wing? She’s going to race with a freshly torn ACL
There are no words
Sullivan giving the guys who’ve been playing big minutes a day off the ice. They’re here just for meetings and the like. It’s mostly bottom-sixers and young guys on the ice for practice right now.
Sammy would hit somebody at least
Bobbyo
Until he gets injured.
Thats why Meeka is healthy
Indeed it is
If I were a relative of Chytil I would be screaming at him to hang it up. How much more evidence does this moron need. If he lives to 60 he is going to be like some of the punch drunk fighters we you to see in 1950’s gangster movies. I mean this with love. Someone has to be an adult and make him retire.
Ah yes, “The Waiting”… It could be said that the Rangers are Heartbreakers.
Putting up the Youtube clip would be redundant at this point.
I saw head Adam Foote and I thought that just what Fil needs-ahead coach. Maybe Richter, Sauer and LaFontaine should have an intervention with him.
Too soon?
the algorithm says RFA Schneider 6x$5.55M
fire away!
the only place I am reading the Schneider rumor is on the blog. admitted I’m not going out of my way to read lots of ranger social media right now! Drury certainly seems to bent over backward not trade him the last couple of years though while also making moves like add gavrikov, borgen, morrow. So what gives?
“Filip Chytil is unlikely to return to the #Canucks lineup for their final game before the Olympic break. He’s dealing with migraines, according to head coach Adam Foote.”
meanwhile Canucks fans united that despite Chytil career apparently being cooked by concussion history, the trade was still worth it to remove JT Miller from the roster.
“Too soon?”
Says Who?
So good to have JT back smh.
Instead of a raddish we got some kind of turnip
Concerning the Panarin ordeal. Whatever could go wrong will. Drury tied his own hands, even though he had nothing to do with Krusty’s NMC.
Another reason Schneider may be on the move Drury will have money to spend next season and Raddysh is looking like one of top FAs for July
Bobby – you seem not to want to pay schneider to be a second or third pair yet you want to pay Raddysh, probably significantly more? (and all based on his offense this season only and at age 30 in a few weeks)
Bolts hold on to players they want. NYR overpaying a 30 yo RD they had in their system who went to another org to develop into a top pair D is just perfect, more icing on the cake.
How many Reds do they need?
Reds = RDs
It doesn’t seem like the Panarin trade will close before the break. The longer this goes the more likely it is to blow up in Drury’s face. Is this a firing offense on his part? What level of incompetence will Dolan tolerate?
Blame Bread for creating this as much as Drury. Selfishly demanding to sign a long term deal like he is going to be moving his family and selling his house in Greenwich as soon as the next team sigs him. BS.
More selfish acts from a selfish player
I can’t blame him for doing what his contract allows him to do.
Exactly!! Panarin can go F off back to Russia.
Beezle I dont want to pay him 6-7 and Raddysh can actually get a puck on net and move he puck. Plus he has a bomb which would be nice to have on powerplay. Basically move one player to address other areas of need and use cash to replace him
there’s a month to trade eadline, the timing doesn’t matter, the return does
I’ll trade Drury my dead propane boiler, a snowboard and a bag of dog treats for Panarin right now. Get it done.
You’ll notice there is now a timer at the start of the post. Tick tick …
easy come easy go. Panarin came for nothing, won nothing, leave for nothing. is any of totally unexpected with a full term NMC? if the Rangers were even still remotely in the hunt by the trade deadline they probably wouldn’t trade him anyway!
To quote the Dread Pirate Roberts. “Get used to disappointment.”
Panaran is making this rough on all Ranger fans. Stupid Drury will have him walking away with our getting nothing and Dolan firing him.
I do t see how Drury is at fault for the Panarin situation. He realized that he needs to trade Panarin. In order to do that, he ask work with Panarin because Panarin has a NTC. Panarin is within his negotiated rights to pick where he wants to go.if Panarin doesn’t want to go, he doesn’t go. That’s not on Drury.
The NYR have traded Forward Artemi Panarin to the Nairobi ~<+++[{ of the African Roller Hockey League, for Defensemen Migley Fonker, a conditional 8th round pick (within the ARHL), and a fruit basket.
It ain’t happening before the break. There would be some smoke by now. The longer it goes the more likely it is they come up empty.
ORF,
You’re also assuming he won’t pull a John Tavares.
Carey its on Drury because everyone hates Drury
I don’t care anymore!
CAPS or Canes by 3?
Seravalli said Canes were close last night.
Why not play Bread?. He is paid a lot and the risk is shared to an extent. Bread not agreeing to be traded prior to an amenable team AND contract creates the real risk no deal is signed at all. Him playing is an injury risk, but the longer he sits, the less he can help a team and if he is hoping to play on for 3 seasons for the acquiring team, the playoffs are not as pressing if he is unavailable.
I don’t care anymore!
Who is Phil Collins?
Friedman: Nick Bjugstad traded from STL to NJ for a mid-round pick and a prospect
Carey: Drury did not need to send letter 2.0, certainly not prior to the March trade deadline.
True, he’s limited given the NMC that Panarin has but it was clear for quite some time he wasn’t going to be coming back- seems like Drury waited a long time to figure out what could work with Panrin’s side before going shopping to the handful of GMs that would potentially be involved.
Shocker…. Just about 3pm and not a thing coming out from the insiders on Panarin. Drury’s the best….
Our worthless GM couldn’t even bring us SOMETHING to instill hope. But he has full immunity from JD and the nut shots…
It was a few more than a handful. Gave everyone a week plus to work it out. As far as the letter goes, does it matter?
The clock is ticking. Reminds of what Sam would often say late in many third periods….the clock is the enemy of the Rangers. And so it is.
Fuk Panarin and Fuk Drury
Hey Dolan wake the phoc k up
What an absolute dogsh-t return!!! Greentree and a fuking 3rd rounder? Are you fuking kidding me!!!!
Carey – obviously we are not inside the organization but my impression was that Drury did not seriously start discussions about moving on with Panarin until very recently .. like the past two weeks. Why wait? He knew he wasn’t extending. He should have been on this in Nov or Dec moving Panarin towards giving him a list that he could work quietly. Instead it became another spectacle
As to the letter – nothing makes you look more desperate than announcing to the world that you’re having an asset sale. Everyone may realize that yes, they will be sellers but to what extent? Instead, Drury basically put up a fire sale sign and if he doesn’t move people he and the organization will have a ton of egg on their face and still be looking for “retool 2.0”.
Artemi Panarin to LA for Liam Greentree and a conditional third
Artemi Panarin to LA for Liam Greentree and a conditional third
Very underwhelming..what a joke
This is complete Bullsh-t. Drury needs to lose his fuking job for this. How can Dolan sign off on this dogsh-t move?!?!?!?!?!?!????!!!!!!!
The NY beat writers got scooped by an NFL insider. 😂
Post updated including stats for Greentree
Big kid, seems to be doing ok in OHL but honestly don’t know what counts as exceptional in that league.
Is that confirmed? That’s it? Drury really needs to be canned immediately. How pathetic.
Liam Greentree (born Jan 1, 2006) is a highly touted 6’2″, 215-pound forward drafted 26th overall by the Los Angeles Kings in 2024. Currently developing in the OHL as captain of the Windsor Spitfires, he signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Kings in July 2024. He is known as a scoring power forward with high potential.
Key Details about Liam Greentree:
Draft & Contract: Selected in the first round (26th overall) of the 2024 NHL Draft. Signed a 3-year entry-level contract with the Kings ($975,000 AAV) that runs through the 2026-27 season.
Performance: During the 2023-24 OHL season, he recorded 36 goals and 54 assists for 90 points. In the 2024-25 season, he continued to be a top producer for Windsor.
Playing Style: Described as a power forward with a great shot, strong in-tight, and able to drive the net. He is considered a “top-tier” prospect for the Kings, though improvements in skating were a focus for his development.
Position: Right Wing.
Accolades: Named to the OHL Third All-Star Team (2023-24) and OHL First All-Rookie Team (2022-23).
Greentree has participated in multiple Kings development and rookie camps, aiming to make the jump to the NHL.
IDK, just feel there should have been something more in there. Maybe a california burrito?
From Vince: It’ll be the better of LA’s two thirds, but if the Kings win one playoff round, it becomes a second. If they win two rounds, they’ll add a 2028 fourth-rounder, per source.
From GGMM: LAK the only team Panarin would work with.
It tough to take some of you seriously. You’ve never heard of Liam Greentree till right this moment, and you have strong opinions about him. Laughable.
Hahahahahahahaa
If that’s true about Molly, then F@#$ Panarin
¡Ay, caramba!
So if LAK win a round, we get a second. Still don’t know if it is theirs or CBJs.
Oh I don’t care anymore more.
Bread wanted a team with forwards that backchecked
Rangers still have to face La at home in March smh
don’t know much about Greentree but he does sound like Rangers best prospect now
Kings are going to lose to Edmonton in the first round of the playoffs again
So we got an already “aged” low first rounder (at least a RW and not LW) and perhaps a 2nd. For the record, he just turned 20 on 1/1/2026.
Rangers should plug that dude into the lineup and force Sullivan to play him. Unfortunately he’d be on a line centered by Sam Carrick.
I’d suit him up day one on Mika’s wing.
Put him on the right and get Laughy to the left side already
Ha Vince adds: NYR also retain 50% of Panarin’s salary, per source. Limits their ability to take on others down the road.
Glad all that crap is done. Know lets just tank.
Cherry on top: Drury retained half of bread’s salary!!!!!
EV no do not put this kid on the same line as LaCoast. Keep him far away
Cuylle – Mika – Greentree
When the Rangers come down here, I don’t care if they demolish the Panthers right from puck drop. I’m getting a fire Drury chant going.
and then you have LAF-TRO-MILLER until Tro gone then Miller moves over and Perreault on his right (until then, 3rd line).
Beezle, now that Panarin is officially gone, Laughy is laughably our top left wing. He’s also our top right wing. 😂
hmm.. perhaps GGMM not quite right?
EV – Lafreniere needs to be straightened or moved. Don’t let this kid near his line until then. Lafreniere is Miller’s problem to deal with. Cuylle maybe a step back this season from expectations but still seems to play pretty hard.
Panarin and LA obviously both didn’t negotiate in good faith. They obviously had back door talks about an extension without Drury’s knowledge.
22 mill is a little short of 50 mill.
Something to brighten Minx’s day: #LetsGoPens defenseman Caleb Jones has been suspended 20 games without pay for violating #NHL/#NHLPA performance enhancing substance program rules.
Carey – there certainly is an odd dischord there, no? “LA his only choice” and “others willing to go to the moon on extension”
There were no back channel talks. The Rangers granted every team interested permission to negotiate with Panarin. Pay attention!
LA Woman – go fujk yourself
Got another prospect who can’t skate…purrrrfect
Beezle,
The last time I spoke to my person, they said LA, or Caps, and both trades had been negotiated. It’s was just a matter of Panarin negotiating a contract with the team he chose.
Awful trade.
I’m glad Drury retained 50% shows his wheeling and dealing expertise. Wait until we see what he gets for Vermont.
I have 3 games left incl tomorrow and the kings game
Will watch kings warm up like I did for ducks
Also have Toronto in one month
Will Greenpeace ever amount to anything exceptional? Unlikely!
Awesome job clearing cap room over the past 2 seasons to pay Shesty, Fox and Laffy…bwahahahaha
Let’s check out the upcoming free agent class, got to be some studs there…Sammy Blais and Reilly Smith are available
Actually watched edm warm up and probably will for tor
Hope to get an April game
Mtl or buff
Will prob watch visitors warm up then as well
Great trade for LAKs. Not much for the Rangers. Worse than any of the packages rumored and certainly not what Nelson returned. That’s what happens when you give out full NMCs and have zero leverage. The player was for Panarin and the pick is for retention. It’s better than a bag of pucks and we have a team to root for in the first round.
Grenntree- Sharp-shooting winger with strong off-puck movement and puck protection tools. Skating and defensive improvements required, but has middle-six upside. He fits right in.
They can continuing s^cking now. This team will be a sorry mess next year.
I guess the tree is greener on the other side.
Gavrikov and Igor are the remaining full NMCs. Everyone else shifts to modified no trade by the last year. Must be a Russian thing.
Hopefully this kid is a power forward …they havent had one since Kreider …10 years ago
It’ll take years for this kid to even sniff NHL ice.
Scouting Report:
Can’t skate. 20 yr old putting up points against 16 & 17 yr olds. At best he’s a poor man’s Will Cuylle.
he was a first rounder …last trade with kings worked out
Drury needs to go
He’s left us with quite the mess
Hugh Greentree > Liam Jessiman?
Just heard about the Panerin trade.
It’s an exercise in Fertility.
We got screwed again.
FIRE DRURY!
Bobbyo
Overly optimistic again. Greenpeace will probably never see the top six! The lifetime continues. Buckle up boys our favorite team is the NHL laughing stock!
Drury just got a colonoscopy.
Stop giving out NMCs, and you might get something worthwhile back later.
Also, let’s remember one thing: players aren’t the fans. They have ZERO loyalty to the club. Only to the Benjamins.
Everyone- it’s been a pleasure. I’ll check in from time to time, especially on deadline day. I don’t know that my bit-hing and moaning will be missed, but thank you for providing a platform for it. I’m no longer watching games the rest of the season as there’s zero reason for it, and quite honestly, I feel hopeless when it comes to the next 3-5 years at least. Literally zero to look forward to with this team, considering our current ownership, management, and development staff.
Enjoy (or try to?) the rest of the season, and thanks for listening to be bit-h
Last trade with the kings was the Lias trade? This guys sounds like Cuylle, but doesn’t skate as well. The scouting reports seem to be from his draft year. I hope he has worked on his skating.
Chris Drury turned Panarin, Kreider, Trouba, Chytil, Mancini and a 1st into JT Miller, Urho Vaakanainen, Liam Greentree, and Carey Terrance……
Oh?! I take a short break, come back and see “Everything’s Gone Green”?
Conor McGreentree
Austin Mattrees
Nathan McKindling
The best-case scenario for this kid is that he becomes a 30/30 guy in about two years. From what I heard, he’s a slightly more talented version of Will Cuylle. He is supposedly an amazing on D forward, too. Let’s hope, for the sake of this annoying franchise, we also get a 2nd round out of this. SIGH…
And the icing on the cake, we retained 50%, right? With that conditional pick should’ve been 2nd to 1st… not in Drury’s world, I guess.
The Third Letter]
Dear Rangers Fans,
Trust me; I know what I’m doing.
One Love,
-Chris Drury
In other words, Drury got what the Rangers hoped Kakko would be for Panarin. Greentree is a little meaner., tho…
He won’t get to do much in Hartford. Windsor is in first place and could make a Memorial Cup run. They could be playing as long as the Pack does.
LOL, JBytes.
Terrance is not going to play in the NHL. Let’s hope this guy does.
To Kings: Perennial top league scorer with two year extension and too much money retained
To Rangers: a flaming bag of dog snit
Going to the Panthers-Boston game tonight. I hate hockey right now, but at least I’ll get to see what two teams with building competence looks like.
Sidney Greenstreet will be better off staying in Hartford until Drury and Sullivan are gone. Unfortunately that won’t happen before Dolan dies.
F@#$ Drury Jamesgeau
As we saying with Bill: Thus – “…enterprises of great pitch and moment,
With this regard their currents turn away
And lose the name of Action…”.
All for nothing – grief for free…
The bruins got a conditional second that turned into a first for Marchand.
The flyers got Owen Tippet ANDa first rounder for Claude Giroux who would only go to the Panthers at the deadline.
Drury needs to be drawn and quartered
Dammit. How do I post a friggin pic on here?
Also….I broke the friggin blog again, Beezle.
Sayonara
Add the other miller deal for morrow
At least they got SOMETHING for Panarin.
Awful day to be a Rangers fan.
Long gone are the days of hope and excitement. How quickly things change.
Btw, Panarin is probably going to double his highest playoff output with us in just the first round with the Kings. Such is the plight of the Ranger fan.
By the time the trade deadline arrives, Drury will have turned our two first-round picks into a 4th rounder and Sammy Blais.
This kids stats in juniors are way better
Than Cullyes
Drury will continue to treat first and seconds like a drunken sailor who just got paid his monthly wages and arrives at shore leave
I trust LA picks more than our own so last years first rounder I have hope for
So we basically got a 1st and a third (which could be a second if Parton helps em in playoffs by winning a round)
No horrible for a move with zero leverage and playing open handed at the card table
Panerin. Not Dolly Parton
I think I’ll be a penguin fan just to torture myself more.
So much deadwood remaining to be shipped out, and for not much return. Unwatchable for now. Wake me up in September.
The good thing about this first rounder is he’s 2 years closer to actually making an NHL roster than whatever 18 yo we would’ve picked in this years draft which will be mid to high 20s
For those long in the tooth. The more 20 year olds we get, the quicker the retool can take shape.
Are you guys saying it’s adysmal?
Outside of 1940 and a good run in 1950 the Rangers were awful until the 60’s….late 60’s. Is this our fate now? Will they be the new Sabres?
My directv isn’t working right now….can’t even get it to turn on. Broken Rangers broken directv and perhaps that is for the best.
Hopefully this Liam doesn’t turn into the next Lia.
Corporal Dolly would have drafted Jolene, who would have been harder on the puck than Lafreniere any day of the week
Trocheck needs to remain on this team. There’s no way anyone can trust Drury to get positive value for him.
If I were to grade the trade I’d give it a C or C-. I’d bump it up to a B if in addition to the prospect he had gotten two seconds or B+ if a first
EV the problem is the owner does trust him. Hence, ugatz!
Oh … almost forgot this very important NYR news!
UPDATE: Anton Blidh has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack and Connor Mackey has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
Ruh oh… someone’s draft stock is plummeting!
JUST IN: Gavin McKenna is facing four charges, including a felony of aggravated assault, after an alleged altercation downtown Saturday night.
GGMM says Drury has a presser tonight… this guy’s response is priceless
Just that alone days don’t draft him.
Isn’t this Green guy ranked as kings top prospect?
Rich as I’m sure you’re aware draft territoriality and no playoff home ice excuses much of the Rangers legacy of a century of sucking. Which makes it much more palatable.
Game next season’s season tickets already been purchased? And, if they have, did the price go up?
Well….its plenty palatable to me since I didn’t arrive on our planet until 1963. What’s coming will amount to dumpster dining and thus is not going to be palatable. Of course I hope I’m wrong and I will not be abandoning ship. Been a Ranger fan since the 80-81 season…..no escaping that.
If it wasn’t for espn+ I wouldn’t even watch another Ranger game. Besides I’m a pens fan now go Muse! It’s my punishment.

Let’s see if this works
Scouts and analysts frequently compare Liam Greentree to high-scoring NHL wingers who overcame similar skating concerns through elite hockey intelligence and puck-protection skills.
Primary Player Comparison: Jason Robertson
The most consistent comparison for Greentree is Dallas Stars forward Jason Robertson. Both players share several key traits:
Elite Offensive Instincts: Like Robertson, Greentree is praised for his “sophisticated delay game,” which allows him to slow the play down and problem-solve through defenders.
Deadly Release: Both possess a heavy, accurate wrist shot that can beat goaltenders from distance.
Skating Profiles: Both entered their draft years with significant concerns regarding their heavy skating stride and lack of initial acceleration. Analysts suggest that if Greentree can refine his skating to an NHL-average level, he could reach a ceiling similar to Robertson’s 80–100 point production.
Other Notable Comparisons
Scouts have also drawn parallels to other power forwards and high-IQ offensive drivers:
Jamie Benn: During his 2024 draft coverage, Greentree was compared to a young Jamie Benn due to his combination of prototypical power-forward size (6’3″, 216 lbs), skill, and leadership.
Marian Hossa: Some analysts suggest he is less of a “bruiser” and more of a thinking man’s power forward in the mold of Marian Hossa—using his frame and tenacity to reach dangerous areas rather than just seeking out physical hits.
Pavel Zacha: His skating style and straight-line speed have been compared to a heavier version of Pavel Zacha.
Dominik Kubalik: Noted by some scouts for his shooting ability and offensive toolkit, though perhaps with a lower overall ceiling than the Robertson comparison.
Ryan Leonard: He has been likened to the 2024 version of Ryan Leonard for his intense competitiveness and confidence, though without Leonard’s top-tier skating.
Timo Meier: Live draft-day comparisons also included Timo Meier, highlighting his high-probability projection as a productive NHLer.

I like it already
Internal comparison
Skill and iq of Gabe Perrault (who also has to use that to overcome skating weakness) however on a much bigger frame with harder shot
Next puzzle peices need to have Hagelin/kreider/grabner speed
Preferably the Kreider mold who has size and speed
Greentree will be an excellent player. Worry not. Refer to this post in two years when I say “I told yo azz”

The article on McKenna
Atta boy CC!!
Oh man. We were just taking McKenna here last week!!!
Serious charge. Not good. Take quite a bit to get it to felony level from my watching a lot of Body Cam on ID (investigation discovery channel )
Talking
Not taking
What the heck auto corr-wrong!!!?
Hopefully its Jason Robertson rather than Dominik Kubalik.
Watch Panarin lead LA to the cup like Gaborik did few years ago

no, they do not lol
Has the team had a Liam before on the roster?
Let’s hope Greentree is not Deadwood. Those scouting reports read like his agent wrote them.
Upward and onward
McKenna must have got all 155lbs behind that punch
Cccp you must be doing it wrong 🙃
@CCCP
To be fair, the quote does say Twitter, not X.
From the Daily Mail article:
“However, multiple reports indicate that the Penn State hockey team was in a private room at the bar when a person unrelated to the team began verbally harassing a member of McKenna’s family.”
If true, it sounds like the loser of the fight decided to press charges.
I have a feeling some people will pay some other people to make those charges go away.
Now that Panarin has been traded, Drury can put his knee pads back on and get back to his main job under Dolan’s desk, keeping a smile on Dolan’s face. Nothing like job security.
I am not surprised that he screwed up the trade, as that is what I expected. Since Drury has a job for life, there is zero future for this team. After almost 60 years, I think I am finally broken. I have to seriously think about finding another team to root for.

I SEE! HAHA
Mkh
Maybe Sabres
Not isles, devs or Philly
I think, and I could be wrong, and as much as we might not like Drury, I think he did a decent job getting the best possible return, given the situation. He got LA’s top prospect and possibly a 2nd round for 34 year old star who they did not plan to resign. Would you guys be ok with two more years of Panarin at $11 million per or potentially getting a elite power forward for years to come?
