NY Rangers (22-28-6) vs Carolina Hurricanes (35-15-6)
• 05 February 2026 19:00 EST
• MSG, NYC
• TV: MSG,FDSNSO •
Oh there’s a game tonight?!? Almost forgot, seemed like we were on some type of break. There is definitely one starting tomorrow. But first the Rangers have a tilt with the Carolina Hurricanes at the Garden.
The Hurricanes are on a pretty good roll, 7-1-2 of their last ten with recent wins over OTT and LAK in OT. The Rangers are a pretty consistent 2-8-0 and very much looking for a feel good win otherwise droopy faces for the next two plus weeks.
Quick (4-13-2, 3.22 GAA, 0.883 SV%) is in net tonight and should be refreshed after the days off. He’ll be going against Bussi (22-3-1, 2.24 GAA, 0.906 SV%) if early reports are correct. As to the rest of the lineup, Blidh and Mackey were cross teleported between NYC and Hartford with Blidh taking the RW spot on the fourth line. New waiver wire pickup Iorio gets a shot on the right side of the third pair tonight as well. Othman is Prucha’d, Brodzinski in as LW on the third line.
The zebras tonight are Francis Charron (857 GP) and Mitch Dunning (341 GP). Meh.
On this date in history: Will Cuylle turned 24 today; just one more year before he may get a break on his car insurance!

FIRST!
Almost didn’t get this in. Been running around all arvo.
We officially start Panarinless era. Thank you, Artemiy…and good riddance. Who to watch in excitement now? …
Bread: “I don’t know if I should say [this], but I feel like [the #NYR] contract offer say like, ‘We’re not sure if we want you or not,” Artemi Panarin said in his LA intro presser. “So that’s why I’m not signed. Yeah, we talked not much in the beginning before the season starts and then after, obviously, my start of the season was not great. And then probably we talked in the middle of year, but not much.”
Glad Laba’s back. Keep your head up & on a swivel, #42.
Bread: I don’t wanna be no street ho!
“I don’t like to switch teams back and forth. I played already with three teams in the NHL. I have two kids, a dog, a wife… It’s just too much stuff. And also, I feel like I don’t want to be rented for a couple months, then go somewhere else. I’m just looking for a team who wants me.”
Jbytes. I have not seen the murder tapes yet but will check it out .
From a scout : with more updated information than 2 year old pronman Eval
““Greentree’s skating is average-plus, and doesn’t concern me overall. He will keep pace at the pro level. ”
Said he’s a “hulking forward projecting as top 6” will turn pro next year and may need some seasoning in aHL
Why can’t Mackey ever get a game?
What does he have to do?
Loser jerseys. Loser team.
Mika will be with the Rangers after JTM is gone.
Gingras helps ease the pain of losing burnt toast
Good stick by Oreo.
They won’t even have to clean the ice on the other end.
Drury is the worst Ranger GM since John Ferguson
Iorio sucks –
Another toothless 2nd.1SOG. The question every game is will they score? Half way to another shutout at home.
Drury <<Sather?
Carolina’s paying Ruth Buzzi $775,000 to play goalie this year. Next year, add a zero.
Rangers win out and they’ll make the playoffs
Ruth buzzy was not pretty
Oreo has to put the team on his back and carry them to victory.
That doesn’t sound like Kenny who is the booth tonight?
Candy Canes should be embarrassed scoring only 1 so far.
How has Duran Duran looked?
That’s not funny, E3! Stop it… right now!
Actually, the scenario that’s been playing in my brain lately is that NYR will go on six game winning streak to put them just outside of lottery eligibility.
Oreo is dancing on the sand and playing well. Oreo has a nice shot.
I smell a shorty.
This Centennial Team reminds me of many of the 99 other teams.
Not getting to 20 SOGs tonight but will likely allow 40.
Iorio > LaFail
Not sure how you can smell other things while you’re in your can E3
Sad period?
Weak call to put a team down 2 men. Trocheck leaned on Stahl and he went down.
I’m taking credit for “Oreo”. I doubt he’ll be around long enough to use it much though.
This Ranger team isn’t the most talented but they just might be the dumbest team in my fandom. Hard to say what’s worse, their skill level or their hockey IQ. Both pretty low.
Kenni Alberti face deep in a Barolo & Buccatini right aboot now.
Headzo I’ve not been on my can since my morning deuce. But it was a doozy, believe me.
E3 any paint peel?
Anyone actually watching this offensive explosion?
Beezle: Alex Faust (normally radio play-by-play guy)
Ev – sounds like E3 had one of those those this morning
That’s right. Pass up the shots.
How is this game only 1-0?
Olga – mail. Everyone else, NMCs
Guthrie’s Mom has been seen more in this game.than Zibinabad
Beez, I always liked the part where He loafs and fishes.
Lorne Chabot? I didn’t see him at the Garden tonight…
It’s getting to be ENG time. Sully will pull Quick at 2:30.
Gilles Gratton there?
Panarin invisible tonight
And there it is!
We never ever should pull the goalie. It just never works.
Sully’s Opening Line Tonight…
1. We had some good looks.
2. I liked our compete tonight.
3. These guys are human.
4. What the F do u want me.to say?
If they still win out they make the playoffs
Quick gets all the Ranger Stars.
Nothing a 25 game winning streak can’t cure.
How bout that J.T.Miller leadership tonight?
Outstanding…Inspirational…immeasurable
Joint Aches n Pains more exciting than this car wreck
Dry Saddle > JT Miller
The poor saps paying for this product ….
Bread with the hattie tonight – book it.
With the quality of this team; do you think anyone will be selling tickts forcless then 100 dollars. It has been a long time since I had a pastrami sandwich from Carneige deli and MSG is the only place they stiil exist.
For less then$100
Sourpuss Miller better not infect the US Team these games
The question: “Will they score?” has also been answered. The 9th time they have been shutout. More to come.
At game time tonight there were tickets for $54 on Tick Picks. Most remaining games are now<$100 and the prices aren't going up except for when the Kings come in which has gone up in price.
$1.00 is too much to pay to watch this product.
Ottercide!
#NYR head coach Mike Sullivan says the scratching of Brennan Othmann tonight was a coaching decision and not because of the CBA rules regarding his eligibility to be assigned back to Hartford during the Olympic break.
“I think there are elements of his game that have to continue to improve in order for him to establish himself as an NHL player.”
If Othmann cannot crack the current Rangers lineup, they may as well move him to another organisation. The “elements of his game that have to continue to improve” will never improve with him watching in street clothes.
They have Kandre a half ass trubute tonight ….kinds bush league
Iorio update?
Gave Kandre
Iiorio was fine tonight
I’m
They gave miller the same tribute as lindgren and kakko
I don’t think JT or tro will see the ice in Milan. Heathy scratches both. JT is especially bad. He’s awful.

Bread has full no movement with kings
Was at the game. In short, we scup’s but Quickie was lights out. Laffy the Limo and back-stabber Tro were invisible
Whether coach Mike Sullivan has the right to claim success with the 2025-26 New York Rangers is highly debatable
, as the team has struggled significantly under his tenure, with a 22-28-6 record before the Olympic break. While hired to stabilize the team and foster a new culture, results have been poor, leading to a “rebuild” phase and a trade of key player Artemi Panarin.
Key details regarding Sullivan’s impact:
• Poor Performance: The team has faced immense adversity, and critics argue the team has suffered its worst season in decades, with little evidence of the expected turnaround, notes Blue Seat Blogs.
• Defensive Issues & Penalties: Sullivan has acknowledged the team’s struggles with discipline, specifically citing too many penalties and a lack of defensive consistency, according to a post on the bolavip website.
• Ownership of Results: Sullivan himself has admitted that he needs to do a better job coaching and that the team is not where they hoped to be, acknowledging his responsibility in the team’s poor performance, as shown in this article on NHL.com.
• Context of Failure: Some perspectives suggest that the team’s struggles go beyond the coach, with some fans on this Reddit thread arguing that it would be difficult for any coach to succeed with the current roster, notes this Reddit post.
In summary, while Sullivan has maintained a positive approach to rebuilding, the tangible results on the ice have not supported a claim of significant success this season.
• Is Mike Sullivan the right coach for the retool? – Blue Seat Blogs
When the New York Rangers hired Mike Sullivan to replace Peter Laviolette, many were thrilled. Sullivan, a former back-to-back Sta…
Did not see Kakko tribute in person but for Kandre they had the kids shoveling the ice and music blaring when they announced. They should do better or don’t do it at all
There is a new post. I’m not sure why but I guess it would be odd to skip at this point
