Rangers 0, Blackhawks 3

We have a guest review by long time commenter and also Hawks fan, Olga!

New York Rangers vs Chicago Black Hawks. 600th game between them all-time. An Original Six Contest. Couldn’t find a closer franchise match-up in all of sports. 249-251-98-2

New York came in to Chicago right after the Hawks suffered a couple disastrous losses, 7-1 to the Ducks and 6-0 to the Kings. Should be a high scoring walkover on the road against the struggling Hawks. It was a close game for a while. Then it started.  It turned out to be just another ugly jersey ugly night. Rangers in their Centennial Jersey played like they were 100 years old. Now that they took those jerseys on the road, they should just leave them in Chicago.

#1 Overall Connor Bedard. A goal and assist tonight. #1 Overall Alexis Lafreniere. Not called Laffy for nothing. Hawks get the shutout, 3-0. Apparently a $4.5 million goalie is good enough. If the Rangers only gave Shesterkin $4.5 million Just think of the over age, washed up veteran that Drury could give a seven year no trade contract to for the other $7 million!

Goal scoring for tonight’s game:

Chicago (Shorthanded)
Chicago (waved off)
Chicago
Chicago

That’s all you need to know. I’m trying to think of something positive to say about the Rangers tonight

The  Rangers ARE punctual. They were all there at the first puck drop. Then they kind of disappeared. Mentally, they were already at the airport, boarding the plane.

A horse walks into a bar. Bartender says “Why the long face?” Horse looks down and says “Ranger Fan.”

What’s the difference between the Rangers and a vacuum cleaner? You have to plug in the vacuum cleaner before it sucks.

So how do we wrap this one up? In yesterday’s newspaper, like a dead fish. Then drop it in the trash.

249-252-98-2 And counting…

Game summary below:

The Rangers next game is at MSG against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday evening, 19:00 EST, telecast by MSG

GGMM almost but not quite calling out LaCoast: “Meanwhile, the Rangers’ top pick in 2020, Alexis Lafrenière — who was the most effective Ranger on the ice in the third period — has scored three goals (one empty-netter) in the past 14 games amongst several no-show performances.”

I hate to keep saying it. This team is a disaster from top to bottom. Are there any future bright spots? Robertson, Morrow, Laba, Cuylle and Schneider? Nothing to get excited about. These really may be the only players worth keeping and in itself is sad story. Drury and Dolan have no idea how serious of a mess they have created? And there doesn’t seem to be any way out. I am broken, I have no hope!

It’s getting to look like the Gmen. I don’t think I’ve missed a game in over 25 years. If I miss it live, I DVR it and watch later. However, a few more games like last night and I won’t be in the mood to watch. Rangers are a frustrating team. Too many stiffs. Laba is the only player that seems to give a s(hit).

My frustration is not that they are losing, it’s with who they are losing with. Last night they put a lineup on the ice, with 4 forwards who are AHL caliber players. It’s tough to watch.

Sherry, Radish, Berard, and Brodzinski belong in Hartford. Minor league material. LaFrench might be the worst #1 overall since Yakupov. Bread and JT are turnover machines. Trocheck and Mika are ok. Laba and carrick are my two favorite players and I have no complaints. Sullivan and his 5 forward PP need one less forward. #60 should be QBing the power play.

Top 6 has tanked them all year…team can still make playoffs but it really won’t matter if they get in..they aren’t going to get younger or faster. They have to move anyone they can in top 6. Maybe keep Laffy if the return isn’t good since he’s younger

I can’t imagine they are going to go much longer with Sheary, and Brodzinski. I’m ok with Berard, and Chemlar. Even though I don’t believe either are NHL players, they are young, and could still develop in to useful role players. But Sheary and Brodzinski? Enough already.

Keep seeing rumors that the Rangers will be in on Quinn Hughes when the time comes. But the names people are throwing out in the rumors are misguided. Vancouver wants a young NHL ready center. The Rangers have only one of those, and that’s Laba. So the deal starts there. Vancouver has long coveted Schneider. He’s the second piece. Maybe they are interested in Othmann as a throw in. Add in a first, and you probably have the makings of a deal.

  14. St Pete Eli Avatar

    Quentin Hughes and then what?

  15. E3 Avatar

Hughes would be 1 1/2 year rental before he joins his bros

We’d have to include salary so laffy would go

Add Schneider and a first probably ours since Dallas would be late in rd

    Maybe Laba?

E3 – 12:05 – Sherry, Radish, Berard, and Brodzinski belong in Hartford.

I don’t disagree, however, I would rather have any one of those four over Laffy. At least they put in an effort. It infuriates me that Laffy is treated like the golden child and is never held accountable. That’s part of the problem with this loser franchise, the players are treated like kings and feel entitled and often unwilling to sacrifice to win.

Probably most NHL teams have one, maybe two guys who are borderline NHL. You don’t want three or four of them. Brodude sticks around because he can play l/c/r, can put a goal in now and then and generally plays hard without too many screw ups. Sheary plays hard and…. Berard trying but undersized with no points, same as Sheary but younger.

Raddysh never been a big scorer (one season exception) but like Brodzinski, seems to play hard, bigger body and will put a few in over the season. Clearly family issues there but do wonder if move to 4th from 3rd line dragging him down too.

I think Robertson has been a work in progress. Mistakes made but not horrible, moves a few people around with the big body. Clearly coaches see him the better option over Vaakanainen. Could become a servicable third pair guy but lets see how the season plays out.

Brodzinski is like a good backup infielder in baseball. When he plays once a week, he does well, but when he’s asked to play every day, he gets exposed.

Johnny B being able to play center helps his cause; guy likes to shoot and has wheels; sometimes not having solid off puck positioning.

  49. Corporal Clegg Avatar
    Corporal Clegg

Haven’t mentioned it in a while. But Parsnip may be a better option than the 3 not named Raddysh

Bigger body. Wins more board battles. Plays with an edge in the dirty areas and can play center or wing.

Has a skill set that can pot some goals too

Raddysh underlying metrics show that he and his line in his career create high danger chances. His expected goals historically has been good. Just snake bit on the finish. Not counting his Hattie this season

  50. Corporal Clegg Avatar
    Corporal Clegg

I would like to see Parsnip Laba Raddysh as the 3rd line

Can play sound defensively and cycle the offensive zone

Bench Sheary and put Cuylle in his wing in top 6

Berard Carrick Chemlar until the towers get back.

I find it amusing that some bloggers are now realizing how F’up this team and franchise is but like St. Pete has said, as long as dolan is the owner not much will change but it would be nice at the end of this season at least Doaln can fire Drury but even if Dolan does he will hire another clueless GM. The future of this franchise appears grim and I don’t see anything positive going forward. I’m glad I watched the rangers win the cup in 1994 in my 30’s.
