Well, that wasn’t how we expected that game to turn out now was it? The Rangers dropped another winnable game last night, this time at home against the San Jose Sharks in OT.
As the coach said in his post game presser, it seemed like many of the players were going for offense at the expense of all else, resulting in odd man rushes and poor play in their own end. A lack of focus as well – good teams are not giving up two goals in the final 10 seconds of a period as the Rangers did for Celebrini to close the first and second periods.
On the plus side, the third line had four goals, including a hat trick by Raddysh (3) (two even strength, one short handed) and one by Parssinen (2). Zibanejad (3) had a PPG which at the time put the NYR up 3-2 early in the second period.
Unfortunately, they would also give up the hat trick to Celebrini (5) and a pair, including the OT winner, to Smith (2). The SJS draft picks from the past few years look quite good.
Sully has his work cut out for him.
Injury Notes: Rempe left the game after only 19 seconds after taking tossing them with Reaves. Could be precautionary, there were quite a few landed by both heavy weights.
Scoring details below:

The Rangers will go on the road and face the Calgary Flames, Sunday night at 20:00 EDT telecast by MSG, SNW and TVAS. Could be a HNIC game as well.
