Good morning, boneheads!
Not much to dissect here, seemingly. They were bound to lose at some point, right? Right?
- Well, if you lose it, you lose the one like last night. Back at 2 am from round trip, against a dangerous, if not streaky, opponent from the West. Your third/fourth AHL string goalie who gives up a questionable goal early (I bet Shesterkin saves this one) Perfect setup.
- Except I thought they were a better team by the end of the first. They were able to kick their game up to another level, I thought.
- Colorado really picked their game up in the second. But also our boys looked tired. Some of them tried. But if you constantly give up the middle zone and do not stand up at your blueline at the same time, you’re either tired or you just don’t have it tonight. Physically or mentally. I thought it was both.
- The coaching staff is starting to use their second PP unit more. I think Gallant wasn’t happy with first unit not willing to shoot. And it’s paying off. The second unit is starting to score. Imagine having two deadly PP units in April?
- You know when it’s obvious your boys don’t have it? When Adam Fox is making boneheaded mistakes.
- Let’s get to it. Trouba is playing at the level that no one expected even when they paid him the money they did. That’s an all around elite D-man. Exactly what we were saying when this blog talked about him being absolutely necessary when they start contending. A stud. I’m starting to think that he may need a different partner. I don’t think his and Miller’s styles fit. I also think that Miller will take longer to develop than expected.
- So Trouba nails MacKinnon with a clean hit. And he has to answer the bell. I do not blame Landeskog for challenging him, I’d want our team’s captain to do the same. And he wins the fight. Name him your Captain already. We are all tired of this multiple As.
- So he answers the bell, alright. But why was their goon MacDermid allowed to chase your captain all over the ice? Gallant couldn’t make sure Reaves is on the ice next time MacDermid is there as well?
- They are playing again next week. I fully expect Ryan Reaves to be in MacDermid’s face early and often until he either fights him or becomes barely visible. I know, the points. Except they are OK with points at the moment. Sometimes you do what you need to do to send the message to other teams and worry about points later. Yeah, I’m an old school. But I also fully expect our boys to play much, much better all around game against them. They can handle Colorado this year.
- I liked Gallant’s reaction to this game. He was barking at the officials, not his players.
- This team has ways to go. But some things are in place already in order to contend. One of them is they have a fourth line in place in order to win the Cup. With Rooney and Goodrow contributing heavily on PK. If they fill the holes sufficiently to let them keep Goodrow there, watch out!

I saw that too regard She’s Twerkin
Hate to add fuel to the future cap fire but given Igor’s groin issues Drury will have to spend more for backup goal than an ELC or washed up vet will cost. Not going to leave the fate of what should then be a contending team on AHL+.
Wick-so who moves to the 2nd line?
Babbling Brooks is…ahem…FOS re: Third Row Miller. ‘A BIT too dependent on angles?’ A stay at Hartford would re ‘inappropriate’ and punitive?’ Get thyself a grip and apply it
Tom
I’d be running this lineup until trades are made…
Zamboni strome Kreider
Laffo busto Meeka goodrow
Puffy chytos Barron kakko
Hunt Rooney reaves
Remember when Long Island was filled with Ducks? Plum Island seems to have taken care of that AND introduced us to Lyme Disease.
Agree Wick…that should be Horvat or Miller so you have them for 2 playoff runs at least …with Rutherford in charge maybe things start happening with Vancouver
Our #8 woke up one morning on the wrong side of the bed and became Scott Stevens. Great Googamooga!
With the uncertainty of Strome and a new contract hanging over them, would it not be wise to put Mika and Panarin together for a bit?
I know the Rangers would never do this, but I would experiment with Mika on the RW of Panarin and Strome.
22 year-olds should be able to live on $25,000 a year. Adjust all contracts as such.
Strome’s 28. I’d give him $125 thousand.
NBA Coach Bob Cousy, circa 1973: “The day a player, any player makes more than his Coach, I’m outta here…”
BDL who would go into the corners?
Mika and corners are mutually exclusive!
Slewfoot: Coroner’s Office
The rink is oval, there are no corners.
‘Got no time for the corner boys
Down on the ice makin’ all that noise…’
You can Jekyll but you can’t Hyde.
To play in GG’s system, Meeka needs help on the wall and someone to carry and create in settled situations. Hmmm.
One million dollars!!

I heard there’s a buffalo hunt tonight
Michael del Zotto put on waivers by the Sens today. Remember when he was the anointed one. Feels like a very long time. Where have you gone Kim Johnson? Not Ching.
In other animal news, only one Monkee left
Del Zaster Estimated Career Earnings : $23,692,028
Mike Nesmith also produced one of my favorite movies. “Repo Man”
“Repo man’s life is always intense”.
Panarin and Mika suck together. It’s been done before.
Yeah, that combo has been tried by two different coaches in two different systems and it doesn’t work.
I’m really amazed at the effort by some folks to literally try anything else but what is actually working because of the absolute denial that strome is actually a good, top two, nhl centre.
1 mil cap increase….1.5 mil if puffy chytos is replaced by Barron, 1.5 mil if georgisieve is replaced by Darius…there’s 4 mil 😉
Buttman declares Cap will go up One Million, but his wife is re-doing the kitchen, so he decided that he would keep it.
no one denies Strome and Panarin have great regular season chemistry, especially against the cream puffs of the league. What we don’t know is how they will do in the playoffs, which is the same for Mika, but Mika is here forever, so moot point.
So i am in favor if is seeing how Strome and Mika do the rest of the year against the playoff teams and then in the playoffs themselves. Doesn’t mean i hate strome, just no reason for Drury to make a decision now, unless Strome is signing for $4m/yr, which he isn’t
Summer of 24. Leading into the 24-25 season.
Bettman/Daly said today projections show that escrow might be paid off by the summer of 24, if not summer 2025.
The cap is gonna jump big time.
So drury’s job is to get everybody due new contracts soon on board with spreading the available cap money and the opportunity to be able to sign a new deal when the cap jumps up dramatically
In 2025 Mika will be fat with gray hair and Bread will be toast 😆
NEW POST
Strome on path to 16 goals, 40 assists in big free-agent season. He should take any decent Rangers offer and celebrate.
