Needed a fresh post anyhow.
15th leaves them in the neighborhood of a few centermen and with teams like SJ, LA and Chicago in the top 12 there could potentially be some opportunities to move up if someone they like is right there.
For those of you who want a short cut to some centers you can read up on here are some names:
Kent Johnson C | Michigan
Chaz Lucius C USA-under 18
Cole Sillinger C -Medicine Hat
Mason Mctavish C- Peterborough
Zach Bolduc C-Rimouski
Aatu Raty C- Karpat
Feyodor Svechkov C- Lada Togliatti

I think one of the brothers is obtainable for sure in a trade, just wonder what the ask is.
SN,
I’ll take Laf and Kakko over Dahlin and Power for sure but I am definitely wondering if Kakko is here long term. Considering they picked him and passed up on Dach and Cozens it would be a pretty disappointing situation to see him go. Unless of course it’s for a franchise center.
I think Parros uses the magic 8 Ball to decide on “supplemental discipline.” Wilson 0, Reaves 2, Scheifele 4. There is no rhyme or reason to the decisions. Habs made noises about revenge and scared them into to removing him for a few games in hopes it blows over. I hope the series last long enough for him to get back so we see what happens. And I sad “blows”
Where THE HELL is Carp?!
Tyler Johnson is making 5 million a year and playing 4C for TB in the post season. Do you think any of their fans are stressing it?
This is why I don’t really care about eventual 3rd line Kreider. If the team is contending and has the appropriated depth and deployment then you live with it for a bit. Especially if he’s effective in his role.
Who is carp?
Carp is golfing 🏌️♂️
Carp is hanging around Colony Grill in Po Cho looking for inside sauces.
I like to think that Carp is wise enough to go to Modern if he drove up to New Haven for good pizza lol
Drury:
“I won’t let the Rangers Report 2.0 blog’s opinion on my pizza ruin my Christmas”
“but if that’s how they want to play I’ll just re-sign Smith for four more years”
James broke the blog!!!
I do what I want
yeah!
When the athletic isn’t busy wish carp would come back here to do more old school interaction
Not sure how much they’d enjoy his presence here, Cregg. But I share in your opinion.
Bread is effective in his roll.
Jimmy Dolan and Slats text Drury:
LONG TIME NO SEE. WTF?
Drury: BEEN ENGAGED IN ROLL OUT OF NEW CHOCOLATE PIZZA. WILL BE WITH YOU GUYS MID JULY.
Carp hates the Rangers now more than ever.
All sources have been cut off. Even Vince’s source. Which of course is Brooks.
Probably why Brooks handed the wheel to Mollie for the summer.
Panarin from inside the MRI tube: “Thanks Coos!”
Or maybe Drury just has no idea what the plan should be?
Brooks can help him figure it out. Already started
Sign Rinne and Jones
Trade for Kadri and Tkachuk…
Or maybe the BS lazy “plan, sorry no plan” and subsequent PR regurgitation spewing machine to cover the no idea treading water for several years “plan” is now gone, and drury is actually doing his job instead of just being a lazy fat cat not doing anything while the owner isn’t paying attention.
Nah, I’m sure nothing is going on
For the first time I actually heard Ferraro say a funny complimentary story about his time with the rangers.
I was shocked…and it was funny
Brooks is covering isles at least somewhat
Hopefully for only 2 more games
I see the headline but don’t bother reading about them
Just 2 more games would be great
James pontificated: Or maybe Drury just has no idea what the plan should be?
Remember, back in the day, those Chinese restaurant menus – pick one from column A and two from column B? That’s where Drury is now… can’t make up his mind on that B column.
When Smith throws his skates in the Hudson he should seriously look into an endorsement deal with a large bakery specializing in weddings. In fact, why wait?
Would JPP be upset if I asked him to channel his night time blog posting energy into weed whacking my yard? Came back to a darn jungle here!
I wonder when the nhl will figure out it isn’t the physical contact that is the problem for injuries and player safety, it’s the speed of the game that makes it dangerous for all the participants.
The nhl needs to start taking player safety seriously and slow the game down.
Do they turn the blue lines into speed bumps? Bring back the two line pass? Allow even more interference?
Carp is door dashing pizza from Drury’s on the side.
Friedman thinks an eichel deal happens sooner than later.
Bread is more effective with seeds?
Get rid of trapezoid?
I’m fine with the two line pass rule.
Clutching and grabbing is different from interference
Move the nets back to their original spot.
Not sure that slows it down
If they bring the blue lines back, they will have to move the goals back and restore the neutral zone to the former size. This will result in less contact injuries, slow the game down but also result in the top 10 goalies, dressed like the Michelin man having GAAs <2.0. Back to the trapping snoozefest.
coos, we only had the opportunity to draft Keith Tkachuk back in 1990, his sons were taken in a draft where we had no first or before we drafted.
James, could we not find a dependable lefty and let Nils play with him next year? If he can be moved for a top line center so be it, but otherwise would give him every chance to play here as he seemingly brings more of a shoot first mentality at the point versus Fox’s pass first, second and third mentality. And whether it’s Fox,,Nils or someone else, we need someone to start shooting from the point on the pp
I’m not so sure center is going to be the pick at 15. I’m just starting to look at the draft, and McKeens is not up yet, but THN is. Probably their best effort in a while. Just looking at it quick, a winger by the name of Othman seems to fit the Rangers needs. A bit of an agitator, with skill. He should be available when they pick.
I have no issues with that Pete. As long as he’s given time in Hartford and not rushed along like other top prospects. I’d think a veteran stay at home beside him might be appropriate as well
Tym
I’d prefer that snooze fest to the boring assed back and forth crap now that’s just see who can get to the other end fastest and lose miss the net so it goes the other way rinse repeat…wait for a high speed collision injury that everyone freaks out about and thinks the game is too violent.
Hard pass, give me smart, safer, effort “snooze fest” any day and twice on Sunday. Let me see high end skill guys excel, not get diluted down!
Bdl
Yep, Othman is the guy in that range…and I haven’t seen a lot else.
But I’ve only looked for a couple weeks.
Maybe power falls there (s)
BDL I just want them to stay clear of Raty.
Svechkov would be a reach. Could we see them trade down? Or trade the pick all together?
15th overall plus Mika is a pretty strong base to tempt a trade partner.
Kournianos has some bold rankings this year
James
That’s a great call re trade package
definitely the draft to move the pick in the first place or move down if no one you like slips, especially if a team say looking for a goalie at 15 makes it worth their while
Fair point Wick. I agree that throwing the puck up the boards for a tap in to the zone at the far blueline has gotten old. Does not take a lot of skill to do that. If the 2 line pass comes back, then they should also eliminate the no touch icing and the tag up offside rules and get rid of the trapezoid. Go back to the old days. Hell, Jacques Lemaire could come back to coach.
That Pionk kid is a pretty good player.
Did Pionk just need time to figure it out or did a different coach and some seasoned vet teammates help him get there?
Zibanajad still has that pesky NMC.
If Danault hits the open market, I’d over pay a little and bring him here.
Tomk
I’m telling you it’s a lot more his partner than it is pionk.
Fwiw, same partner Trouba had soooo….
Tym
I don’t disagree one bit. I hate the current icing rules btw, just dumb.
The only thing slower than the rangers attempting to keep up with nhl trends (they are always about 5 years behind) is the nhl rules committee and their inability to implement safe, logical, and common sense rules.
After losing in the playoffs, Lebron is heading back home to China.
It’s the nba, who flipping cares?!
Its the NFL, who freaking cares?!
Agreed, who cares
Wait, who was talking about the nfl?
Did I miss a nfl post?
Ooof, flower
I believe I’ve said it before, but I agree with Wicky about slowing the game down. That’s it! Fire Oprah and get Wicky in there to run the league!
Don’t forget the race on Sunday, Wick.
Wicky,
Moving the nets back protects the D. They can use the nets as a shield. The way it is now, it’s open season on them. Nowhere to hide.
Canada up on the U.S. in Riga 3-2 with 8 minutes to go. Winner goes to the finals.
Canada wins 4-2 with ENG near the end.
Zac Jones named one of the US team’s 3 best players.
Blackwell had a goal. Looked like Rooney had an assist. Gold and Bronze medal games are tomorrow. Maybe the Rangers name a coach a coach on Monday?
Funny facts:
US Team’s forward Brian Boyle in the 2021 World Cup quarterfinals against Slovakia (6: 1) made the strongest shot so far in the tournament. The puck flew into the goal of Adam Guska at a speed 88 mph.
“Brian Boyle still knows how to shoot for sure,” the IIHF press service noted.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1401110333553528835
Wonder if Drury would sign or at least offer Boyle and/or Justin Abdelkator a contract or a PTO.
I’ve got to start proofreading my posts. Wonder if they’d sign or offer a PTO to either of those guys.
Tom
Thanks for the updates on the worlds!
Interesting name…younger brother of Kirby from Hawks …not a first rounder but moving up….big boy for middle

Bdl
I would open certain things “up” regarding contact.
I hate the icing now…it’s dumb that players have to skate down to the goal line and almost touch the puck to ice it. IMO, if no player from the defending team that ices the puck is past centre ice, it’s automatically a dead play and the attacking team doesn’t have to skate to the other end of the ice to “show” that it’s icing.
I also think if two players from opposing teams are inside the icing zone (the d zone of the attacking team), there is no icing regardless of which player is “in front”. It will create more physical battles and yes, potential more guys going into the boards simultaneously for a puck but it will not be as severe because there will be other rules in conjunction with the icing changes that have slowed the speed of the game down.
I don’t want a collision sport like it is now, I want a hitting one.
Bobbyo
Those are the kind of picks the rangers need to make in the draft in middle rounds.
Agree Wick but this guy is moving up possibly 2nd 3rd round range.
if he is there in the third be a good guy to grab for sure. Be great if this draft was all centers and big wingers
That writeup on dach makes me very interested in getting him. Heck. Mid second round… why not? Better than taking another goalie or D
Well the grandbabies have arrived and I will be unable visit the playoffs until after 8 pm delayed of course. They are both still to young to be hockeyized! Enjoy the Canes beating the bolts and the bees crushing the azzlanders! Catch up later!
cregg don’t think we have a 2nd this year due to Staal trade
A first, two thirds, and three 4ths.
Braden Schneider is going to be a stud Dman for the Rangers
Darn it!
Coos’s boy still haunting us
Plenty in the cupboard to trade up though
I just saw that Mark Scheifele’s family is being harassed because of his hit the other night. What the heck is wrong with people?
The Montreal fanbase is woke
Remember all the crap chara and his family took after the zednik hit?
I know a brunch crowd “woke” poster here, still love him to death though.
James likes brunch?
Thought he was a pizza for breakfast kinda guy (like me)
Eddie
Baku.is one of my favourite tracks, I can’t wait.
Cregg
Lol, not him
PB,
Let’s hope it’s with the Rangers.
When they showed on NBC the isles fans tailgating in the parking lot it was pretty clear to me how isles fans are a bunch of Long Island meatheads while us Ranger fans are a bunch of wimpy, woke Adam Herman types. I miss the old days when it wasn’t like that. A shame.
If your not woke, what are you?
There are still some meat heads on this blog at least.
I wish the Garden was like this.
I hate the fishies, but I love the crowd they have and the sing song chants they do.
Taylor Hall – 10 foot pole
Decision to Martin
I love the damn bruins
And I hate it that I do
The isles remind me of the 2012 torts rangers.
i HATE the Bruins
Gun to head… Pasternak or Panarin?
I’m taking 88
Neither of these teams remind me of a hedgehog built ranger team.
Gorton came from the Bruins.
But it’s not supposed to because winning isn’t important and grit and intestinal fortitude aren’t necessary according to the big lazy and the hedgehog
And?
Such an entertaining game
Regular season and playoff games are like night and day. No comparison. By his drafts and player acquisitions, Gorton showed he didn’t understand the difference between winning in the regular season and winning in the playoffs.
Wholly strome by pasta
Pasternak looked like Rick Nash on the open net
Exactly, the hedgehog did neither.
Here goes joe with the “doesn’t back down from anyone” line for every player that has ever put on skates
eh Gorton had gotten too comfortable and complacent here, but he was responsible for Rask and Marchand being Bruins and signing Chara originally, so don’t think he was completely clueless once upon a time
And Sather built the 80’s Oilers, but he got pretty comfortable and complacent here too. He’s so comfortable, he never left!
Pete
Way too comfortable both him and the big lazy.
I, however, don’t buy his bruins draft influence one bit…he was their “interim” GM for 4 months. Four months that started in March and ended in July…other than a figurehead (and that’s a huge melon) to sit in a chair, I highly doubt he was instrumental in the draft process whatsoever and only marginally more so in the free agency plan.
I highly doubt the Boston organization was like you’re only doing this on an interim basis, so here you go, here are the keys let’s start all over.
But sure, he was there for several years in their organization prior to his interim stint, so he certainly may have have input on some things but he was no architect or genius at all.
He did show he could read names off of a sheet of paper other provided for him. 👍
Wooo hoooo!
Bad challenge
Boooooo
Sign Palmieri
wick, who knows how much he personally scouted marchand, but he was acting GM on the day of the draft and traded for tasks rights and traded a 4th and a 5th to get the 3rd pick where they took Marchand, so not sure who else would have been making those calls but him (sure wasn’t Jacobs!)
With Nils on the way…..and Jones voted too 3 player for USA at the World Championships…….anyone besides me interested in Fox for McEvoy?
Pete
If you think that was all Gorton, well that’s your opinion.
Personally I think they had the plan laid out like most more important trades by teams that “start on the draft floor” then happen 6 months later or at the deadline (as an example).
Relatively confident that the majority of the things the “interim” GM “did” were not of his own volition.
PG -I was thinking the player to yield the biggest return is Fox. Not that you want to get rid of that talent and prolly not for another Dman but if you land a true 1C, do you move Fox (not referring to Eichel)
Couple of questions for you chucklefaces…
Didn’t biron have a teeth mask like rask has except it was a lion?
And isn’t lazar the guy that ate the hamburger off the ice in Ottawa?
Booooo
Clutters muck with the hit to dislodge puck from Marchand for ENG clincher
Heady Lazar? That’s Headly…
Well you’re certainly selling high if you move Fox now. But it would have to be for someone who fills a void. It would be ironic if they went full circle and traded him to Calgary for Matt Tkachuck.
Fox = untouchable
Who knows if nils or Jones become good nhlers
As I answered the other day. I still take bread over pasta.
You are seeing pasta in playoff mode
I can’t wait , can’t WAIT to see bread in playoff mode on Broadway
(The bubble doesn’t count)
Well, you can thank those d-bags at Barstool Sports for why I HATE all Boston teams…. even more than I hate the Isles. Cannot believe I want the fishsticks to advance.
PAIN!!
I despise the Gorton’s fishermen. I don’t like Boston either, but they need to do a lot more than they did tonight if they are to win that series.
EddieJ
Baku pretty soon! 4 red flags in qualifying…race could be real crazy day.
Yeah, I agree it’s a cool track. Looks like that Turn 15 is a real nightmare, though.
Needless to say, I won’t be up at 8am to see it. I don’t usually get to bed until 5 or so. It is set to tape, though, so I’ll watch it sometime later in the day.
One more thing. I happened to be watching the Belmont Stakes with my wife this afternoon. As they were walking the horses up to the starting gate, there was someone in the crowd (Maybe one of you boneheads?) chanting “Let’s go Rangers!”.
Thought that was pretty cool. I half-expected to hear the Potvin chant next.
New post above ^
wick, you could be right that the groundwork for say the Rask deal started awhile back, but we have no idea. All i know is on that single draft day Gorton got Kessel, Lucic, Rask and Marchand and he was the one making the final say on the picks and trades as the acting GM. There wouldn’t have been anyone else telling him to draft or not draft someone or to trade picks to move up. And yes he needed ownership to approve signing Chara and Savard soon after, perhaps no small feat given Jacobs, but still the man in charge at the time. Not a big deal either way and trust me i’m not a Gorton guy or sad that he is gone
