What I don’t understand is the decision making in the defensive zone.
Kreider for instance is facing Georgiev tangled up winds up with the puck and instead of controlling it and clearing it down he just throws it behind himself backhand and Pittsburgh winds up with possession again. Another Ranger Dman was deep in his zone with one man on him and he starts stick handling instead of moving it out.
Then Strome stands there instead of hustling for the puck and it’s a shot on goal for Pitt.

That’s what happens when the team doesn’t have a killer instinct, when intensity only increases with every goal scored and game could be psychologically over even in a first period by dominating team. Oh, dreams, sweet dreams….

My interpretation of the original organizational stance re the pk and d men was that they only trusted staal and trouba on the pk. The other 4 of the starting 6, SkjeL, Hajek, deangelo, and fox weren’t pk reliable so smith was kept.
If smith is included on pk you then have 3 guys (but staal is out). So when all healthy they still need a 4th guy so expect a non reliable guy in there (personally I’d use lindgren) until they decide one of the guys can be reliable (lindgren?) or they acquire a guy.
Astonishing number of turnovers by Rangers, particularly in their own zone. It’s can’t be too long without consequences…

They brought another PP back from the dead. It’s a miracle! If they lose to this team it’s not skill. The Pens have the experience of playing together as a team and that will allow them to win games they shouldn’t. Only goaltending does that for the Rangers at this point.
Just need a good 20 minutes.

Used to go there on business at Corning Glass–got to go see the Steuben guys at work after a meeting about 30 years ago. Geniuses.
I worked in most of the CGW factories at one time or another. Those that made Pyrex, Corelle dinnerware, Steuben Museum, etc, etc.
There was a conference out there yesterday I considered attending but just a touch to far for a day trip (not to mention driving through the snow).
That 2nd period put me to sleep. I’m glad they won. Way to go boys.

Had to go back to watch the 3rd/OT. The first video/gif I saw showed buchnevich skating away from fox.kakko before the team even got there. Now I know why. He was hoping for fox to feed him and fox looked past him and went backdoor to kakko. I get the feeling buch is alittle envious of kakko. Wrong way to look at it, at its best, kakko makes buchnevich that much more dangerous bc buch gets to do his thing behind him and clean up on lesser comp.
