Good Morning ‘Heads. I’m standing in for ILB this morning. He and his family suffered the loss of a family pet yesterday. I don’t want to get into it as it’s not my thing to talk about anyone’s personal business but I wanted to mention it because for all he does for us to keep this place functioning, it would be great if you guys could just take a moment to keep he and his family in your thoughts.
We appreciate you more than you probably realize, ILB. And I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say you and the family have our deepest sympathy.
Now to shift gears. The Rangers will not be 82-0 this year. I’ll post a link to Carp’s review.

Don’t disagree James but there has been very little forecheck and offensive zone time through 3 games and guessing he’s trying to address that …most of offense is off rush or powerplay so far
Oi, what’s that smell? Ohhh its E3 from the can! Yo!
Yo triple C
That’s what’s most disappointing about Kreider to me. A power forward that should be noticeable every shift on the forecheck and along the wall…and he just isn’t.
Enigma
It’s been three games. There are no conclusions to draw about who is good or who is bad based upon these 3 games.
There are plenty of conclusions to be drawn based upon the entirety of players’ careers and the path this team is taking towards the development of its young players.
Wow. Lotsa action today.
Not long ago everyone hated to come into MSG. Why? Relentless forecheck, indefatigable fourth line.
Whether it’s game 3 or game 30 I think it’s going to just remain very apparent that this is a very limited team despite the big acquisitions over the summer. Can’t bring one top forward and one top defenseman onto a team that was as bad as this one was last season and expect an overnight improvement.
What we should be concerned about going forward is the development of players and what this team can do on the defensive side of the puck.
And on the offensive side of the puck.
Kreider came in like a lion, but he is playing like a lamb so far. He has shown flashes, but is so frustrating. I think he peaked out when he ran over Price
I suspect he will turn it up as the season wears on.
You can overcome defensive issues with a sound defensive system. Last years islanders are proof of that.
It’s early, but the signs are pointing to Kreider pulling a Zucc.
Doodie, I’m really not worried about offense. Goals are going to come. What’s alarming is the amount of shots they’ve already given up in the three games. It’s not a subtle stat to say the least.
BDL in regards to Kreider, he has this stretch every season. It’s what people find so maddening about him. It could have been to start the year or he could have scored 20 points in the first 20 games and it would happen after that. Either way he’ll wind up with about 25 goals and 50 points by April.
And stretch is a poor word to use after 3 games. What I’m saying is that he’s either white hot or stone cold. There’s rarely ever an in between with him. Like I was saying to Doodie- the offense should take care of itself with this roster. It just won’t matter much if they surrender 35 shots a night.
I’m not talking about production James. Yo can see with Kreider a guy who knows his days are numbered. He’s a pro, and he should go about being a Ranger till he’s not. But like Zucc, he seems a bit disinterested.
Talbot broke a hand in warmup and wasn’t available for the LA Kings series. They had an AHL backup in that series. No way Hank wasn’t going wire to wire.
Kreider lost his line mates from the last two year and is thinking again. He gets in trouble when he thinks too much.
“It just won’t matter much if they surrender 35 shots a night.”
Best way to keep from surrendering shots is to keep the puck in the offensive zone. That’s why I said the offensive side of the puck needs focus as well.
Busy schedule is coming. Lots to bash this team about is on its way.
Need guys that will possess the puck down low.
Panarin Zibanejad Kakko
Kreider Howden Buchnevich
Lemeuix Andersson Strome
Hailey Mckegg Fast
LB forward this to DQ we all know you read this blog!
Bolts hvae Shatty paired with McD. I think it will work better this time. They are second pair in Tampa.
One game in almost two weeks and we’re seeing trends? Really need someone to drop a puck, any puck.
The shatty mcd redux is going to make me vomit 🤮.
Are we eliminated already? WTF!
J.T. Miller scored two goals….J.T. MILLER scored two goals…..J.T. MILLER……SCORED…..TWWWWWOOOO GOAAAAAAAALS!!!!!!!! MY GOD!!!!!!! FIRE. EVERYONE!!!!
EVERYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYONNNNNNNNNNNNE

And while I’m so ANGRY about players that didn’t play out their careers here. DANIEL GONEAU wound up scoring 59 points in 2002-03 for the Fife Flyers. FIFTY NINE POINTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Doodie I agree in a sense but the whole “the best defense is a good offense” is a stale/dated concept. It’s what’s given this league a bunch of dmen that are nothing more than an extra winger out there trying to drive the offense but can’t do diddly squat when the other team does have the puck. And no matter how skilled you are the other team WILL eventually have the puck so you better know how to stop them.
You’ve said it yourself, the Rangers will win some games because of their offense. They already had the one back and forth with Winnipeg. I’d rather they lose 3-2 in a game where they were defensively responsible.
Am I BANJing?
Kravsoft thinking about a return to KHL??
I’m beginning to have concerns about DQ’s handling of the roster (line juggling), Lias on the 4th line, moving AV’s son up, vets over yoots etc? Either he has something up his sleeve or not much between his ears!
Quinn: “whut the hell do you gawys know. You think you know hawkey? I’ll show ya how ya coach hawkey!”
Quinn: “So Kravtsawv wants to leave eh? Put him in the caaaaaa I’ll bring him to the airpawt myself!”
James is in a great mood this morning lol
To be honest I’m not interested in this European cry baby act. You came over here, the organization thinks you need polishing in the AHL and you’re going to pout and go back to Russia? Fine. goodbye.
What’s the alternative? Let a 19 year old call the shots? ‘oh we HAVE to give him a roster spot or he’ll leave’
C3, it’s not my fault. I ate some Ukrainian honey last night and started trippin’ balls. I think it was laced with something!
Right… let’s ask Kravtsov’s 5th cousin’s neighbors daycare teacher and see what they’ve heard aboot the situation lol
I ate some Ukrainian honey last night …..I guess that can be taken differently than I meant it lol
James
It was laced with nothing but luv, baby!
LOL “he’s very upset. He doesn’t think he’s been given a fair chance. I remember when he was 8 and the class was finger painting. all the other kids took the colors he wanted so he threw down his smock and walked home”
C3, did you hear Miller scored two goals last night? And Shatty is paired with Mac in Tampa….Rangers are DOOMED.
lol… Ukrainian honey taste sweet, I bet 😉
In about 36 hours we will be buried under Jack Hughes’ monster performance which will set the tone for the Devils’ legacy and the Rangers’ demise. OH THE PAIN
LMAO
2 GOALS?! OH THE HEARTBURN!
Why am I a Ranger fan? Somebody help me!
Kreider’s 1st year with his inevitable new team he will probably pot 40 goals and put up 70+points. We are becoming the NHL’s minor league affiliate! The Minx has spoken!
James
First thing…that clip is from an awesome movie, well done.
Secondly, agree 100% re your 8:39.
A lot of antiquated arguments by folks here that you would think would know better…then they just wait for some confirmation bias to go “see, told you” lol
AV is killing these kids! 🙂
you guys need a hockey game…and soon!
Kevin Hayes: 1 goal
Kakko, Strome, Kreider: 1 goal.
While everyone was blasting the rangers and the canucks for giving up a lottery protected 1st.
I was saying Vancouver just traded for 5yrs of a player we know has a nice combo of skills and would be getting to play on either petterssens/horvat’s line.
Bet that deal ends up a steal and JT hits 30 and 60 this year
[But we also know he’s been an incredibly streaky player. If he can just channel his motivation to (I’m sure) prove a bunch of people wrong, he’ll hit those #s if healthy]
Wick, it’s going to become more apparent when they finally play some games.
jpp,
I’m not knocking Miller or Hayes. I just refuse to join the crying over spilt milk crowd.
I’m just glad they have a coach who is good at developing the youth.
I’ve seen that Russian twitter handle. He’s just a shill for the KHL to throw shade at the NHL. Kravtsov’s KHL probably asked this guy to tweet this to put this out so kravtsov would see it, hoping maybe it would be an idea that is growing in his head.
On carps recent podcast appearance he wrote off the idea of kravtsov leaving for Russia as so inaccurate that he felt comfortable calling it nonsense.
Kravtsov will be up by mid-season the latest and that means an accrued yr towards his next deal. Going back to Russia would just set that timeframe back further.
I’m sure it wouldn’t be the end of the world, but I sure hope he doesn’t make that decision.
Ilb,
A little late on this… but I’m very sorry for your loss. The cruelest thing about dogs is their short life span combined with just how amazing they are. I’m sure you gave your little buddy a great life!
Completely unrelated… I’m ready for pre-season to be over!
that wasn’t directed at you James. More the hockey world in general. Canucks overpaid, rangers got hosed by yzerman, Names for Miller. Miller a 1st, Names a 4th
Contracts obligations aside. Both Miller and Hayes would love pretty pretty good slotted into our lineup right now. So would Mac
*look
Can’t develop the youth when they’re all pissed off and booking plane tickets because they don’t want to play for the organization unless it’s for the Rangers.
Look I’m sure this was in the cards from the moment kravtsov signing with the rangers became imminent. His KHL sees he puts a European out clause in his contract and says as they are seeing him off. Hey remember if things aren’t working out and your in Hartford, come on back to the motherland Russia.
And once kravtsov gets sent down, this tweet and attempt his KHL team to shine this clause and rumor and welcome sign out is a foregone conclusion to get planted at some point.
Let’s see what happens though. He did seem kinda frustrated and pissed off towards the end of the preseason games.
Maybe he will try to push the rangers to recall him rather than lose him for the year. Long view: Not a good spot for him to put the team in.
It’s just a lack of professionalism more than anything else, jpp. And it makes it apparent that despite the skill set, he’s clearly not mature enough to hack it in the NHL.
We don’t need this organization to become dependent on a Radulov 2.0
And the fact of the matter is, neither Miller nor Hayes would fit under the cap at their bloated salaries. So while some could say “oh but if only we had Hayes as 2C” they’re forgetting it would probably mean no Panarin.
It’s spilt milk. Hayes is a nice player as is Miller. Neither irreplaceable. Just because it’s not an instantaneous replacement doesn’t mean it won’t happen.
James,
You don’t even know if this is true.
In the event that it IS true, that’s my stance on it, BDL. That’s all.
And maybe we should have a spread sheet with a poll attached so we can decide who Quinn has developed and hasn’t developed…Let’s see…Kakko is pretty good so he doesn’t count. Hajek hasn’t scored a goal yet so he’s not developing.
Kravtsov is in Hartford so he’s definitely not being developed by the coach…Georgiev is good..but that’s all Allaire..hmm. Who else. Let me see. Well, Chytil we all know isn’t developing and is in the AHL to send a threatening message to the coach….
MY GOD! NO ONE IS DEVELOPING ANNNND MILLER SCORED TWICE LAST NIGHT! TWIIIIIICE!!!!!!
So little patience with the kids, coach, vets, Carp…. clearly this is the blog theme song:
