Huge shout-out to Darling and Peters for the poor goaltending and weird early goalie pull. Nice game for Vesey, Buch and the Z’s, and of course Boy George. But very good indeed by Staal, Pionk and O’Gara, esp. after they had to go with 5. Staal blocked about 20 shots–I may be exaggerating.
Lots of bad teams in the league. They might have been able to squeeze into the playoffs by beating. Gorton had the onions to try to not do that and try to build a contender. 44 shots allowed still is a recipe to mediocrity at best. Hopefully the new coach will work on that. AV doesn’t seem inclined to.
High shot count but many of them were right at the logo, easily saved. Not a bad plan, lots of rubber at the net, rookie goalie, but that was a much more even game than the shot-count shows. Gilmour and Skjei not as disciplined as the other three, but they made some good outlet plays here and there.
