They will need to take two of the next three to be considered serious about the playoffs. One of them has to be FLA.
Our players need to take a serious look at the Islanders guys, a 7-game losing streak is what is required here!! I mean make a few close to keep us interested and the seats full, but really we need to be putting up some donuts to keep get a better position in the draft lottery.

Islaners are going to have 2 1st round lottery picks so there chances of getting far up in the draft are good. I just hope snow is the one still making the picks.
I think Marc Staal is fine. A steady, effective veteran having a good year and getting paid too much for it, like the majority of 30+ NHLers under contract. McD will soon be similarly overpaid–it’s the salary structure of the league.
Most of those guys in that article are going to get bought out. Especially Seabrook.
By the way- 233 games/41 goals/ 23.5 million dollars in cap hits. That’s what this season has brought for Ladd, Okposo, Lucic and Backes after those 2016 signing frenzy. Moral of the story- beware of the UFA wingers!

Exactly, Norm. Marc Staal = no different from Girardi in the sense that he would be an appreciated 2nd/ 3rd pair veteran without any real complaints from fans if it weren’t for the contract /cap hit. The problem is the premium paid around the league for Dmen in their prime which is exactly why there are so many bad contracts and why Mcdonagh was traded rather than extended for Seabrook- like money..

Papa – key is to go to Hotels; less traffic and wider Staals…
As long as there’s a perceived need for veteran leadership (and experienced, if post-peak play) we will continue to see the dollars, dollars that by rights should be going to young studs in their prime productive years, go to the veterans who are no longer earning them. So when we see McD get overpaid the next few years, it’s baked into the cake–it’s affordable because it’s money you’re not spending on the Arvidssons. The trick would be to put together an entire team of Arvidssons. Good luck with that.

Trying to find the bad 30+ contract on TB Rangers and all I see if Cally’s deal. Especially on D and in goal. Killorn in 3 or 4 seasons may qualify depending on how cap moves and he performs.

Cally for St Louis saved us from that awful contract which Slats wasn’t offering anyway but the picks thrown in…oy! Ironically both of those NYR R1 picks turned into Azzlanders prospects/players – ’15 Joshua Ho-Sang and ’16 Anthony Beauvillier.

And Big Game Brass’s cap hit gets the game-winning goal in OT to win it all for Vegas.
Tampa is top dog as far as I know of in terms of salary structure. Their most magical, Vasilevskiy at $3.5. 23 years old, 19th pick. Can’t think of a better value in the league, though there probably is one.
Staal was an injured and flawed player when he was given that contract tho is the problem with him. Bad signing from the start

jpp – Nothing like hearing “Sweet Home Alabama” when the Chargers hit the ice. I got to see UAH when Iona went down there for a pair of games in 2000. We got down to Huntsville in time to see the CHL Tornado play featuring former 1st round pick Bryan Fogarty. By that time Fogarty was 31 and was finishing up a career wasted by booze and drugs. The Iona kids could not believe that he was a former NHL player, never mind a former 1st round pick.
The thing I remember about the trip was how bad the ice was while watching the CHL game. I found out why the next morning while Iona was practicing. They had the doors open letting the nice warmish air into the arena.

Okposo shows how good JT is in raising his line mates play and his output is not bad as the others, but he has two 2 top 6 pivots in Buff, just not at JT’s level. He is -29 which is, we are told, a meaningless stats, but nonetheless impressive in a bad way . He has 38 pts with 18 on PP so 20 5v5 pts for and on ice for 49 goals 5v5 against in 63 games. Wowza.

Jaromir Jagr is scratched from playoff game Kladno vs. Prostejov though he needs every single game to play in extreleague barrage. Last games he played seven seconds after opening faceoff and then went to lockeroom. Well, what does it mean? Maybe end of season due to knee injury.
Tavaresā current deal is the best value in the league norm in my opinion at least. Tampa has a two year window before they will have some real cap issues to deal with

Donāt have access to Carpās list, but unless Chytil meets all expectations or Lias/howden outperform expectations, we donāt have even one let alone multiple high ceiling offensive players in the system and nor do we likely have one top pair defenseman, let alone a future 1st pair. Hence why we need multiple high draft picks, a pick in the middle of the 1st round and two at the end isnāt likely to get it done
