The winner will get two tickets to the Thursday, January 18 game against Buffalo at MSG. Tickets are in 200 level, lower corner, Rangers shoot twice. The contest will start now, and go until “It’s Go Time” post at 6:30 pm.
Some rules.
1.Same as the last contest. I don’t have time to go through hundreds of posts, and check IP addresses for double entries. So if you never posted on Rangers Report 2 ( since Doodie took over), your entry won’t be counted. Apologies in advance, but that’s the only way to avoid spending too much time judging the contest.
2. This one is easy.
– Pick the score. It has to be exact. Not closest. Not margin of victory
– First tiebreaker: Game winning goal
– Second tiebreaker: Rangers’ shots. This one can be the closest, but WITHOUT GOING OVER
– Third tiebreaker: Stars’ shots. Again, it can be the closest, but WITHOUT GOING OVER
3. This one is new too. Just copy and paste my entry and make your own changes. It’s just so much easier for me to score it.

Some interesting stuff about HANK in Brooks’ article today:
“1. Henrik Lundqvist transforming his game on the fly at age 35 into a stylistic hybrid of Martin Brodeur and Mike Richter is tantamount to Chris Evert becoming a serve-and-volley tennis player after 13 years on the tour.
Yet that is just what the King has done these last six weeks in leaving his patented deep, patient, thinking-man’s technique behind to become a more aggressive, attacking, athletic and acrobatic goaltender.
“You have to adapt,” Lundqvist told The Post after Saturday’s 5-2 victory over the Devils in which he was routinely outstanding. “There are so many more one-on-one plays — so many more — that I needed to change. You look at all the goalies who stayed around for a long time, and they adapted.
“There are still times when I find myself thinking a little too much and maybe get caught in between, but I think it’s going well. It’s fun for me.””

Thanks for doing this again, ILB.
Rob, are you sure about Zibanejad? He isn’t playing
Continued from last post. Was brooks implying that Rangers p.r. Or maybe even AV is holding Ruff back from being interviewed? I’ve yet to see an interview with him…

LOL. I change my GWG pick to Zuccarello. Or if that’s not fair just keep it as is.

Sure hope Hank’s latest comments don’t lead to him aggressively ‘handling’ the puck.
I’ll edit your entry, Rob, since you were first.
Question for carp and the rest of you chuckleheads…
Isn’t mcdonut going to be a free agent at the same time as OEL, karlsson, and doughty?
You hear about those three and their upcoming “potential” free agency a ton in the media but not Mcdonut.
Is it because he isn’t close to as good as those 3 (current year performance notwithstanding) or is it just an assumption by the nhl media types that he is a lock to re-sign with the rangers?
Opinions? Facts? Anyone?
Apparently copy and paste is a much more complicated task than I anticipated 🙂

I’m an idiot and it worked fine for me
😉
FWIW, Zibanejad is apparently skating with a regular jersey at practice but not playing tonight.
Would of been a lock to pot one if he was returning tonight 😉

Wick – it may sound homerish, but I think that Donuts, at his best, is more of a complete player than any of the trio you mentioned.
I got ten extra points on my Civil Cervice exam because I am a veteran and also an idiot.
Remember when complete strangers used to win these ticket contests and then disappear again after they enjoyed the game?
Carson Wentz out for the season with a torn ACL. Did anybody check on Eric to see if he jumped?
Norm appearing with Mickelson and former Islander in the Seattle Phil Harmonic.
I think Doughty is the best of the 4 mentioned, Coos. Best all around game. Karlsson is a great Offensive D man. Just an average defender. OEL is the toughest one to judge, being on such a bad team. I truthfully put McD two of the four, as an all around Dman. That’s not to say I would not trade him straight up for Karlsson. I would. The talent he has offensively cannot be matched.
Coos

I can’t stand doughty, talented, but I think he is such a punk aasen
I think BDL hit on the answer. Doughty is the best of the group. OEL and Karlsson are the offensive move-the-puck d-men teams crave these days. McDonagh can log the same TOI numbers as the other three, but isn’t as flashy as say OEL and Karlsson so I think he tends to get overlooked.

Wicky,
Does this mean we think McD sucks?😁
Your points are well-taken, Bdl. Lots of ways to judge these guys. I just don’t thing that McD has had a truly reliable partner since Girardi in his yute. Those two at one time shut down whoever came along.
I think Karlsson is very underrated defensively. Not overly physical, but his positioning, skating, and his ability to make first pass compensate for it with ease. How many can stay with Kreider? He did a few times last spring. He would be on top of my list, followed by Doughty and McDonagh.
Bdl
It does. It also means we are on the ledge with negativity and hopelessness.
Because, well, you know unbiased player assessment and honesty is frowned upon here and accurate assessment will only be accepted as negativity
😉
Agee Littieri is not ready. Fast and Lingberg spent a season in Hartford. He should do the same. No need to rush him unless injuries pile up. Just a glimmer of hope that the cupboard is not completely bare.

Karlsson is still recovering from a very bad ankle issue from past year playoffs or even before. i think it’s buyer beware in reupping him with that problem.
Doughty is a punk but good, Karlsson is a major injury waiting to happen, OEL is MIA and TBD.
McD is Rock Steady; love to see him paired with a legit RD1. Soft spot for the guy playing for 2 out there most nights.
Solidarity!

So much for the three goalie rotation in Hartford. The Rangers assigned Chris Nell to Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL – as opposed to their own ECHL affiliate in Greenville. I am guessing Adirondack needs a goalie.

Wicky has Roussel with GWG -luv it!
Karlsson stayed with Kreider last spring with a busted foot, no less.
I think he’s the best of the bunch by a pretty wide margin.
Re Littieri – be interesting to get him up here for a look in place of #28 for a couple of games.
Like 28 throwing the weight around but think another set of hands on that line could lead to a legit 4th line threat with #26 playing on 4th now.

Won’t happen until a loss or two.
