The clouds are aligned against the Rangers today (its a day game so the stars are off) – 12:30 start, national broadcast, attempting a third win in a row… all that is missing is an award ceremony 😉 Be that as it may, the Derbils, hopefully sleepy from a night of partying, await for the Rangers to try to continue their playoff push.
Entering the match the NYR are 5-4-1 of the last 10, with recent wins over MIN in OT and SJS. The Devils also come in 5-4-1, taking a home/away from MIN, one game by OT SO. After a strong start to the season, the Devils have slowed down considerably.
Line-up wise, Shesterkin (2.86 GAA, 0.905 SV%) is expected in net for the Rangers. Markstrom (2.48 GAA, 0.901 SV%) looks set for NJ. The Rangers are expected to use the same line-up as the prior game, however Zibanejad missed praccy yesterday due to illness. If he is not able to go, it is possible that Parssinen will play back in on the third line. Another option may be Rempe, who practiced, returning and Berard moving up to the third. Laviolette seemed non-commital on Rempe’s status so the former option seems more likely if necessary. For the Devils, Cody Glass is expected back in after an UBI and Casey will replace Nemec on the third pair.
The refs are sleeping in this morning and won’t be revealed until game time.
