I’ve always wondered…Minnesota Wild…what? Thing? Or just some type of midwestern crazy, dontcha know? Well what ever it is, it will be in the Garden this evening as the Rangers try, try again to keep and hold WC2 in the Eastern Conference. Tonight also marks the start of the Gabe Perreault era for the Rangers. Perreault, the 1st round pick from 2023 at #23, signed his ELC after BC was knocked out of the Frozen Four. Entering the match the NYR are 4-5-1 of the last 10, with the most recent a nice, if not expected, win over SJS. The Wild things come in 4-4-2, recent losses to NJD in a S/O and regulation as part of a home/away set. The Wild have a record the Rangers could have had if they didn’t take December off 😡
Line-up wise, Shesterkin (2.84 GAA, 0.906 SV%) is expected in net for the Rangers after resting the last game. Gustavsson (2.50 GAA, 0.917 SV%) looks set for the Wild. Perreault will play on his off-side and to the right of JT Miller. Brodzinski will move to RW on the 3rd line, Cuylle moving back to his natural left side on that same line. Kreider will be LW on the fourth with Berard moving to RW. Hmm. Same defensive pairings.
The refs tonight are Gord Dwyer (1305 GP) and Jon McIsaac (620 GP). Both appear to be the “play on” types.

Shesterkin didn’t earn his 9 million tonite. Cuylle deserved the award; Reminds me of Kreider at his age. Again more turnovers than a bakery

Kreider with hos 10th 20 goal season. Has not been good this year, but that is an impressive feat. It’s been a pleasure to watch him play all these years. A great Ranger.

Glad it worked out but there has been a rash of important D zone and PP faceoffs that miller has memorably lost. I was surprised to look up his % as a ranger is 58%. Felt like it was %40 at times
For his 1st game Perreault look fine. Set up LaCoast with a nifty feed. Too bad it was to Busto.
