(2024 le zone des calmes, deuxième partie)
Yawn. Yawn.
Remaining dates of note: None
Perhaps the photo of pond hockey from days when winter was cold enough to freeze fresh water will serve to cool people off the rest of August. Also inspiration for use of your flooded back yard!

Marc Staal has s an all time Ranger. Glad he’s back in the organization. Ridiculously underrated by a portion of the fan base who wanted him to play a certain way, and wouldn’t/couldn’t understand how good he was because of their blind dislike of him.
Used to Be with a line drive…. Staal was never gonna be Brian Leetch
guess he’s polarizing
like some politicians
‘…and the days dwindle down
To a precious few,
September…November…’
UTB – almost everybody liked Marc staal until his game went downhill. Consummate black and blueshirt that regularly put sid Crosby on his backside. Am I misremembering?
you are. There was/is definitely a portion of the fan base that hates him. You don’t have to look much further than a few posts up to see it.

where rangers guys fit in on under 23 list
Yoosed to be what?
I don’t like his game and you do. So what? Keep it there and eschew the ad-hominems.
you like to go unchallenged. Typical bully behavior.
Utb
I hate the pens nothing more nothing less.
Is it the trade deadline yet? Is former Ranger Frank Vatrano a Ranger? Have we traded DJ Nedved?
DJ Nedved!
after Labor Day I want more news to talk about!
not sure how the players feel, but seems like camp is a bit too short
Camp is not too short. Zuccarello is too short. 🙂

talks about hits and misses by rangers in draft in cap era
I don’t think Zuccarello too short. He is a bit tall for a Hobbit.
Last time in town, he axed Hank to pay for lunch. “I’m a bit short at the moment.”
Little Mats still ticking in NHL after 14 seasons. Many touted big guys are long gone. Kudos.
And at 37 with a haircut, he’s actually approaching handsome.
YO!
And thus concludes the NYG season, at least as long as they stick with Jones at QB. I did the good thing, watched the entirety of the first game. Will not watch another minute of what they are putting out there until they win two in a row. Too many better things to do like yardwork and laundry!
Beezel. you are a better fan than I. I quit after 1st quarter. Turned it off after 1st offensive series because it looks just like last year. As much as I hate to say it; the owners are going to have a lot to think about when it comes to the coach.
I have nothing personal against Daniel Jones or Filip Chytil; but they both need to go. Everyone in the NFL thinks our QB is a dud except the NY Giants. I guess they are all wrong and the mensa members who run our team know better. It really sucks when your football season is over in September. We use to have to wait until at least the first week in October.
Also about Fil. I was rooting for him last year and liked what I saw but you have to be honest about the young man’s long term health. He is one hit away from possible catastrophe. If I was a family member I would be begging him to hang up his skates. Hope nothing happens to him,but he is a Ranger and that almost always means disaster.
Training camp soon?
Loooogshot to #1 a QB from Duke unless it’s Hoops.
The offense is dreadful. Jones misses open receivers all the time and when manages to hit one they drop the ball. They have no running game without Saquon. They will give Jones more rope because they have no choice. He may not be the starter by October. Our only hope is J-E-T-S!
My understanding is that Chris Mara is calling most of the personnel shots and the GM/Coach end up being the fall guys. If that is the case for real, up to the other Mara/Tish pair to put an end to that. If Jones plays the next game that way, just pull him and put in DeVito the rest of the season. Kid is no worse and looked better the few games he was in last season.
To think we could have picked up Baker off the UFA scrap pile but instead paid crazy money to Jones. I do like the kid at Texas but think he’s only a junior.
on the bright side… Belichick will be coaching Giants next season
Sam Darnold was going to be a good QB; only starting playing the position in HS. The Vikes have a very good coach and a great DC.
Last time Jones was healthy they were in the playoffs, but that was with Barkley. The shine is off this regime’s rose.
Problem when the owners think they know football or any sport for that matter.
Bellicheat in done; everyone saw what he was without Brady; Pats looked good beating up on Bungles yesterday without Mr Excitement.
NEW POST? Is it cold enough at night to be out of the summer doldrums??
Chris Mara has very little to do with anything. If you want to go 0-17 ( some do), by all means, play DeVito.
UTB – DeVito was 3-3 in games he started last season with wins over WAS, NE and GB and a very conservative playbook. IIRC he got pulled in the last of the six games for Taylor, another waste of time QB with no understanding of what to do/not to do at critical moments. Drew Lock has 9 wins in 4 seasons, thanks but no need to watch him play either.
SN was waiting for 300 or the actual announcement of training camp dates. Nothing “official” that I can find but it should be around 9/18 for vets, a few days earlier for rookies. First preseason game is 9/22.
If anyone has the confirmed dates, please advise as NYR don’t seem to consider it worth putting out there on website.
bobbyO: I really do not want Belichik. The game and players have moved on. Regardless, until the NYG figure out how to draft again they are going to be also rans at best.
I know it’s September, but if we’re talking football I’m taking a rain check.

100 yo Stan Fischler is breaking news on NYR prospects.
Good news; physical stay at home Dman with size 6’4″ 220. Bad News; Marc Staal will be working with him…
Rangers rookies play the flyers rookies this Friday and Saturday. I assume they will be in camp this week.
DeVito is awful.
SN, I’ve mentioned Mancini here multiple times. He’s no secret to me, and shouldn’t be a secret to this blog.
UTB – A few teams have announced dates around the 18th. The earliest vets could report based on the below would be on 9/14 given the first game is on 10/4. The first day is limited to medical and other non-physical stuff (photos, etc). Rookies/under 50 games on roster are up to a week earlier, 9/7.
OK leave it to NHL to confuse things on their website – The regular season “starts” on 10/4 when Sabres play Derbils in Prague… but everyone else is still playing pre-season games until 10/8.
So… looks like 9/19 based on NYR first official game of new season on 10/9 against Pens (Minx on deck!)
Sorry about that
Beezle, by they, I meant the rookies.
not sure how the game has passed Belichick -Hall of Famer…his coaching alone is worth a few wins. Do you think Andy Reid is a better coach or is it that he has Mahomes?
UTB, yes got that. Don’t understand why no NYR PR yet but official start has to be between 9/14 and 9/19, backing 20 days off the last preseason or first regular season game. Rookies are no more than 7 days prior. Caps have a rookie camp 9/13-16 and vets 9/19.
Think Both Reid and Bill have been carried by outstanding QBs for good portions of their careers.
*NEW POST AT 3 PM EDT*
Many ‘athletes’ start lying about their size in high school, seeking college scholarships. Then in college, they lie about their size to draw Pro interest. Then, the combines or the teams measure them and notice they’re shrinking.
Hard to blame them with all the dough being thrown around.
Before their Head Coaching gigs, Belichick has always been a Defensive Coordinator, Reid an Offensive Coordinator. Two distinctly different animals.
