Luke may have had the best nickname depending on him equipment.

Why would MSG even have a banner on the board that ‘Canes Win’?

Win Thursday night (big if) and things get very interesting given how in the other series they are beating the snot out of one another.

The problem with Trouba’s penalties were the king of infractions; tripping, not slamming head against boards.

Miller was completely lost on the first Canes goal and actually stopped skating and turned away from shot from point. Help!

    Just Win Baby!

svechnikov with wicked dirty play on Shesty.
as one of the best players on the planet you can’t say he didn’t know exactly what he was doing and had full read of the play. His edgework is impeccable for scoring chances, does he not have the same control when it comes to avoiding a serious collision?

Pretty sure those are all just augmented reality and managed on the telecast side. The boards are static and unchanging in real life. Still dumb and distracting, I hate those things. More reasons ESPN sucks

Philosophically, I don’t even know how you can claim to be “augmented reality” when you are augmenting reality in an unrealistic way such as suggesting MSG would celebrate a canes win.

I’m going to defend the 8 million flying elbow. You try getting your arms up to protect your face flying into the glass without moving your elbow from your hip, while carrying a hockey stick. If suchnikov doesn’t fall down there, truba plasters him right through the body into the boards. When he went airborne, the arms came up to cushion his Collision. Lucky nothing connected because he still responsible for that elbow, yes, but it’s a natural response and probably not a last-ditch effort to Elbow the head or he could have done worse

Elbowing shall mean the use of an extended elbow in a manner that may or may not cause injury.

    Igor absolutely amazing

the goals let in this far are not on him. They are deflections and defensive lapses. He has saved way more high quality chances and put his team on his back at 3-2 and allowed us to prove why the rangers are the best come back team in the NhL.

he is playing at vezina level

  34. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

E3 thinking the same thing. Don’t want to run Igor into the ground and Quick has been pretty good all year.

As to getting more speed into the line up, Brodude is the least complicated substitution to make, put him at either 4C or 4RW. Not sure speed is the biggest issue, seems better defensive play/quick decision making the area to work on?

Don’t see a line of Cuylle/Chytil/Kakko being much better than current line and could be worse defensively. Goodrow would have to go 3RW and Wennberg and Kakko down to 4th line. That changes a lot of existing chemistry. Another reason you need to move Goodrow to any line Chytil centers is you can’t have Chytil taking faceoffs. Wennberg isn’t great either but he’s career 6 pts better than Chytil.

  35. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

As good as Igor has been the past two months, Trocheck to me is the invaluable part. Don’t think Bread has the season he did, nor would the specialty units have been as good. I think NYR could still advance with Quick in net but I’m not so sure if they lost Trocheck.

bobby you’re the one beating the drum to put chytil in lineup. i maintain that him being out of lineup helped the team a ton. trocheck in that spot is far better than chytil.

  59. bobbyo2019 Avatar
    bobbyo2019

putting him in the lineup and buying him out are 2 different things ..if he’s healthy Lav will use him ..they are faster and deeper with him

  60. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

I’d do the Chytil buyout in a heartbeat – move on before the next headache. That of course assumes he doesn’t get broken again before then. Even ignoring health, he is not worth the capspace to be the 3C and there is no way you are bumping Trocheck for Chytil leaving RW with The and Zib. Rather re-up Janice for a small bump and put the money elsewhere.

  61. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

They may be faster but I don’t think, all things considered, that they would be deeper. Downgrade on FO, downgrade on defense, downgrade on physicality for possible upgrade on “speed” and offense. We haven’t had problems scoring to this point – #3 in post season at 3.83 gf/gm, #7 in regular at 3.39. None of the teams left in the East scored more.

  62. SN Avatar
    SN

Never a big Flip fan but would like to see him on RW for a spell if he didn’t have all the injury issues. Cold biz but tough to rely upon a guy who has suffered so many concussions so may need to cut bait.

Wenny is much more versatile and can play up and down the lineup in a pinch. He was leading Seattle forward in TOI before he was acquired. Smart Swedes over unfinished Finns and Czeched out Forwards.

If Laviolette does go to Chytil I bet he puts him on the 4th line with Goodness and VSee

  68. jpowell4968 Avatar
    jpowell4968

I’ll start by saying I am an admitted Rempe apologist. I do think when he has been in the last two games he has been good. Along the boards, clearing the puck, hitting ( obviously). If Lavy cannot trust him to play more than 5 minutes, who does he trust to play in his stead aside from the Vets? I don’t think Brodzinksi is the answer. Im curious about Chytill, but what if in these hard hitting playoffs, he gets totally wrecked in his first couple of shifts ( not a remote possibility), you now have a spot that wont play anymore for the rest of the game. So Zero minutes after that. Where does that leave the Rangers and more importantly Chytil? Its fairly common knowledge that the more concussions you have the worse off you are in the both short and long term. Also fairly well known is that each concussion is usually worse than the previous and you are more prone to them once you experience them. Granted, I have no idea if that would happen if Chytil played, it just seems plausible under the circumstances.

To me, I think you play Rempe 8-10 minutes a night with the rest of the forth line and if he drops the ball ( puck?) then take him out. I think most 4th lines play much less than the top 2-3 lines in most hockey games.. But how do you know what he could do if he isn’t given that chance. Plus the Rangers are undefeated in the playoffs and all of the games have been played with Rempe dressed. Why fix something that isn’t broken? But if Lavy refuses to trust him, I do think they need someone to play more than 4-5 minutes so long as those minutes are well played, hard hitting minutes.

    Just my 2 cents

  69. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

BobbyO – Chytil will get Wennberg’s minutes. That will be downgrade in all but (one hopes) scoring. As to the 4th line, what you are really asking is: Rempe + a rotating 3rd period cast in his place vs all Wennberg. Rempe is clearly more physical. So then it is Wennbergs additional minutes over Rempe vs the likes of Panarin, Cuylle, Kakko, etc that have been the rotating cast. I don’t think it would be very much difference there except Bread, but marginal in total.

On the other question – 3-3.5M for a 3C. Consider that Wennberg was a 4.5m cap hit, was older than Chytil when he signed it and was able to play all over and up and down – he wasn’t brought there to be 3C.

  70. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

jpowell – hard to critique Lavi, he is doing what he thinks best. I would have tried to play Rempe a little bit more, say 7 or 8 mins. He’s going to miss time too because of the number of PKs and PPs. But totally get the close game, 3rd period, don’t want the rookie to screw up.

  71. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

Been a big Kakko supporter. Certainly has been disappointing offensively. The rest of his game is OK considering age, always going to be ups and downs. Think he has through the next deadline to show the offense, though might get moved over the summer if deal is good. Wish he would just be more selfish and drive the net.

  72. cooscoos Avatar
    cooscoos

    Miller is lost out there.

  73. bobbyo2019 Avatar

  75. cooscoos Avatar
    cooscoos

What ever happened to Nick Mangold banging on the glass like a mountain gorilla?

  76. Beezle Avatar
    Beezle

This playoffs Goodrow has averaged 11:14 ES TOI/GM, Vesey 11:07, Wennberg 13:43 including an 87 minute game yesterday. So Wennberg will get roughly 4 less shifts moving down but will fill the roughly 7 shifts that are taken by Bread, Tro, Cuylle and Kakko when Rempe sits. That gets you Chytil’s potential offense, along with his 40% FO, weak defense and not very physical play even at the best of times. And from a defensive stand point the third line has been good – Cuylle and Kakko on for 1 each and Wennberg 2.

Maybe Lavi gives it a go, but I just don’t see why when you are scoring 3 or 4 every night in a playoff environment. Break glass in case of emergency, not before.

6-0 in the playoffs and whatever since the trade deadline. I just don’t see why you would dismantle your best checking line at this point. There aren’t really any teams left in the playoffs who are not quite dangerous offensively. Need Wennberg’s 3C minutes.

  79. bobbyo2019 Avatar
    bobbyo2019

all good points and Lav likes a checking center ..not gonna be Rempe on road though..maybe Chytil on 4th line if not Brodz

  80. TYM Avatar
    TYM

Adding Chytil to the 4th line would be worth a try. I would not mess with the Wennberg group though. I would assume that Carolina will have the Staal group against Trocheck tomorrow. That would put Aho against Mika again. The Rangers really need to focus on that group. If they are able to slow them down, I don’t think Carolina will last very long.

The disrespect the referee showed Rempe by wagging a couple of fingers in the vicinity of No. 73’s face while lecturing him after the first-period incident in which he had been knocked down by Jack Drury after perhaps backing into netminder Freddie Andersen was a disgrace.

“Sutherland looked like an unhinged father berating a teen who missed curfew with his daughter on prom night. Rempe smiled. The referee is supposed to be the one who is the adult here. He shouldn’t be allowed near the Rangers the rest of the way.”

I thought it was awesome. The only thing is that Tkachuk probably just gave the bruins a little more gumption after seeing their star winger entering the trenches and joining in the melee with his second fight ever and with a much tougher opponent.

There is zero reason to put Quick in net tonight. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Does anyone even remember who our backup was in 2014? And they didn’t lose to LA because Lundqvist was tired.

its that Tkachuk is a weasel…a very effective and great player but a weasel who picks his spots

Also, we beat kotchetkov 2 years ago.

if we sweep Carolina, as unlikely as that is, he’ll have a ton of time off. There’s also a 2 day break after game 5.

Igor has just played 2+ games after a week off. I think he’ll be alright.

Sweep the Canes and Shesty will get plenty of rest.

watched the pasta interview post game

the fight was initiated by tchachuk. Full credit to pasta for answering the bell to lead his team into the trenches.

he did not ask his coach “I said I’m going on”! And that was it.

Valley’s chance charts say Freddie hasn’t been that great like Shesty, but has been pretty good. In game1 Rangers got 4 and the expected goals were 1.84. Games 2 they scored 4 and the expected was 4.68. He actually was better in game 2, but by expected goals they should have won both. Brind’Amour figures it’s worth trying someone else.

if Matthew wants to maintain his toughness reputation he should pick on players with more fights under their belts. It was clownish for him to be the one to ask pasta to dance.

and again. Matthew continuing to punch when the fight was over was bush league

We might be jumping the gun talking sweep. The Canes are like fire ants they just keep biting.

Lone thinks that the Canes played one of their best games last time and if we play just a smart game of controlling neutral ice by checking their asses off reducing time & space we should be fine. Capitalize on their mistakes & rest Shesterken

I had a vision, not from E3’s can, of the NYR leading 3-0 with 7 minutes to go in the 3rd period. The final score was 4-2 after surviving a 7 minute Chinese fireplace.

5PM and GoodGollyMissMollie still doesn’t have the official lineup? Is it under embargo until 6:59?

I’m quite nervous about tonights game and even more so with a back up goalie playing. I think that is just a product of rooting for them for 55 years. I think many of you can relate. I would love a 6-0 win and a four game sweep, but pretty certain neither will happen, so I will just pray for a win of any kind tonight and then do the same in whatever remaining games they have. LETS GO RANGERS!!!!!!

E3 likes to predict 7-0 Rangers. I’m good with that. 🙂

I’m conflicted, but if Quick plays and we win, I feel that would be entirely demoralizing to the Canes

Admiral – I feel your pain, i’m quite nervous about this game.

I’m surprised that Lav is changing a lineup that is 6-0. Makes some sense with Canes having last change, as someone here had previously pointed out a few games ago. Rempe out against the Aho line is not a good matchup for Rangers. I think adding Cuylie to 4th line makes a good checking line and I prefer Chityl on wing with Wennberg at center.
