NY Rangers (40-18-4) vs. St. Louis Blues (32-28-3)
When: Saturday, Mar. 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Where: Madison Square Garden
TV/Radio: MSG Network/98.7 FM
The St. Louis Blues are set to visit Madison Square Garden to face off against the New York Rangers this Saturday evening. Both teams are on a two-game losing streak heading into this matchup. Currently, the Blues are trailing by six points in the race for a wild card playoff berth, making every point crucial for them. With this in mind, the Blues are expected to play with a sense of urgency, giving them an edge in the game. Goalkeeper Jordan Binnington has a reputation for performing well in high-pressure situations, making him a key player to watch, especially in the spotlight of a Saturday night game in New York City.
Although the Rangers are undoubtedly a strong team, this game holds less significance for them, given their virtually secured playoff position.
The first game post-trade deadline. Jack Roslovic and Alex Wennberg are set to make their Rangers debus tonight.

huke Lughs sux
Anyone want to bet that Buch will score a first goal?…
Worst on the team huh? Or is Timo now?
Just got back from watching Tarasenko have a four point game and almost a hat trick….
Four missed nets and a post in the first minute and a half. 🙄
New day, same team
A total of 6 brain cells in blue jerseys so far
killer PP
Early Jamesgeau
will the rangers gain the offensive zone on this power play?
I was almost right with Buch…
okay go again, now that they’re calibrated a bit?
BOOM SHAKALAKA!!!
Trogoal!
Woot
was Hayes doing bong loads in the box?
LGR!
E Gore looking sharp
stick on the ice Miller
High stick that was missed by everyone, including Salmonjoe
Rosy has some wheels
Bobby – indeed. Serious motor on Jack black.
Igor ready for prime time.
Wennberg with a HORRIBLE pass with no one around 🤦🏼♂️
Woot woot
Partial breakaways are apparently better than full breakaways for them
BOOM VESALAKA
Scored against a goalie?
Good period.
Jack Ros have the rangers fits a few weeks ago when they were trying to look respectable vs the CBJs a few weeks ago
Lively game so far…when 4th line scores. Roslovic very involved and Wennbrg doesn’t looks out of place. Rangers look refreshing.
So far, so far…
Roslovic can skate and shoot. His speed makes a difference.
Did VC score a non empty net goal? Wow.
Rempe reminds me of Brandon Jacobs. Big guys that you don’t think they are going to be very fast until you realize their stride is like 1.5x everybody else
For your amusement
Tortorella is everything
defense gotta buckle down
Emerson Etem
I hope torts never retires and keeps getting hired in the NHL.
Shoulda traded K’andrgiveawe Miller for Chychrun
Rempe, like a big 60 boxcars cargo train, have a problem to stop after run – long braking distance…
Jamesgeau x2
Jamesgeau x2 – 1
A laser from the South Tower!
Woot woot woot
Rempe scores on rush, eat it NHL
BAN BOOM SHAKAFRIGGINLAKA!
Looks good from the second angle.
League f*s us again
Holy crap.
From now on they need to shoot the puck in the net a second time because f the NHL
Toow toow toow
robbed. Another Rangers rookie getting the Cuylle treatment.
How many gorgeous goals have we scored this season that we didn’t score?
I don’t care if a puck is obviously in the net…take it the f@#$ out and put it back in.
Gus sucks
Igor Igor
Please let this not be the game that Kevin Bongs scores
Shesty is a lucky fduck
WHY TF CAN’T YOU POST THE SAME THING TWICE?!
I friggin hate this site.
Anyway…. Gus sucks
Brilliant move – declined the breakaway and drew a penalty
Falk wanted no part of that puck when he saw who else was going after it in the corner
No matter how many new guys they get, it won’t stop them from passing over shooting.
OK period. Satisfactory.
Professor Kakko awards the class a C+ for their 2nd period exam 🤣
B-
Like some of their trades
rempenator will score 40 next year. A pure goal scorer.
Prof. Kakko grades on the curve!
That really should be a penalty shot
crap call
A ranger does that and it’s two penalty shots and a match penalty
THE!
THE BOOM SHAKALAKA!!
Funny how guys that are near the net tend to score
Now if they can just hold the shutout.
Woot woot woot.
Rangers can only hit the net when they shoot from an angle. It’s ridiculous how many A++ opportunities they throw away from the slot or near it.
Olga, 💋 of 💀
Olga……
If I can get this goalie jinx thing down, Rangers could win the cup.
Kreider is getting worse on breakaways. Smh
that many sticks in his skates kreider should run binnington there for old time’s sake
Actually that wasn’t so bad. It looked like he probably wanted to lift that so I think Buch might’ve saved a goal there.
He’s being a little B(uchnev)itch tonight isn’t he?
STOP MISSING THE GODAMN NET ON BREAKAWAYS!!!!
🍞 didn’t get that shot on net? he had half a period until the nearest defender could get close to him
He had enough time to get his own rebound there. Instead he goes for the pinpoint shot at the bar. Dumbass.
Frick in embarrassing
Ranger legend Emerson Etem
Need to get Rempe some PP time tonight
Have to admit that overall, Rangers are confidently carry out this game in all 3 periods. I’m truly enjoying it. How about you?…
That’s my boy!!!
Woot woot woot woot
Roslevic wearing 96 has tiny shoes to fill.
Finally, my boy – Kappo Kakko!
Atta kakko
Kakko 1. Buchnevich 0.
Add Guentzel to that
Kakko noni!
Rempe’s got over 10 minutes of ice tonight on his newly constructed line
K’andre is so f@#$ofng bad
It was good to see Kakko smile after that goal 😉
Kakkophonia on ice…
Beezle, I must’ve missed that lol
Rempe has been very noticeable when on the ice – in front of the net, forcing a few turn overs, a few good shots, goal stolen and as we see more often, makes opponents near the boards *very* eager to get rid of the puck
that’s nice they started Pp2 for the first shift
They just showed him smiling again!
The third unit is on
Vatrano also 0
PP1 Rempe is a nice touch. Plant him in front and shoot at him all night
10 seconds since Shesterkin’s last shootout
60 minutes??
His last shutout too
Stick Salute Mama!
This is one of the few 60 minute games they have played all season.
One of their best games, start to finish this season.
Solid W …big test next game
i didn’t think Panarin had a good game. Couple of assists or not.
Giveaways, lazy getting back, bad passes. I guess points speak louder than actual play.
We had a guy on our team didn’t know what a blue line was. We told him when we get the puck go in front of the net and wait. We would aim at him for a deflection or he could get the rebound. By season’s end he had 10 goals, no assists.
Nice game back from the long break. Let’s do it again Monday night against the Mickey Mouse Club. Big week ahead against division/conference rivals.
Hate to complain after such an exhilarating win, but with 1 minute left in a 4-0 game, M iller AGAIN is way out of position trying for the fifth goal an gives upan odd-man rush almost costing us and Twerkin the shutout. Violet shouldn’t have hm out there late. What in hell is he trying to prove?
kooz – he’s getting extra practice time.
Kevin Hayes should be ashamed. He should have accumulated a big name in the NHL.
Rempe’s hockey classes went very well this week, credit to him and his teachers. Resembled an NHL forward tonight, as unlucky not to score as was lucky to score last time. Let the cup of coffee continue!
If we’re lucky enough to go far, Miller will be the final -goal goat. Take it to the bank.
this team just might make some noise in the playoffs. Next few weeks will be interesting. It’s imperative that four lines roll given the absurd schedule (10 games in 5 days it seems). Gots to keep those legs fresh as best they can….
One Ranger fan in North America dislikes Rempe, the new kid, and we’re lucky enough to have here with us tonight. Coach Norm.
And I admire his (Norm’s) humor and acumen, but not on this issue. Rempe might not make it, but I’m willing to root and be entertained one way or another.
Whoever gave Panarin the second star they weren’t watching the game
If #79 and #6 weren’t so bad, I’d say rest #23 here and there. He fades late season/playoffs.
Sometimes I really wonder with these handed-out game stars along with hit credits. Sign of the times. Incompetency and mediocrity rules more and more everywhere
…and let me include the officiating…
Participation trophies!
No need to put words in my mouth, coos. I’ve never said I didn’t like him, love the shirt-eating grin and his enjoyment of his cult status. I have said he’s no NHL hockey player, though he had a nice game tonight, no question, and most importantly stayed away from the stupid stuff. Would love to be wrong about him, but still not sold.
As for you, are you the only Rangers fan in North America who dislikes Miller? How long are you going to own that tiny franchise?
Sad watching Hayes coast around out there. Has he done anything at all since his brother O.D’d?
Olga – 10:07 – ten goals and one eye, like Marc Staal.
Got Norm’s nose. :) but how an ex-coach could not see Miller’s nightly foibles bewilders me. This is not Bumfork, West Virginia;. this is NYC, MSG, the House that Ruth Built.
Miller is a top defenseman on one of the best teams in hockey. Like any big man who plays a finesse game (see Chris Kreider) he has his fussy skeptics. Hit Somebody!
Norm
coos is not the only one that can’t stand Miller, coos and I agree.
You, St. Pete, have always been easily swayed.
i third that, Eli.
Miller-lite, Got no fight, ain’t no slight, if ya see it, right?
boyeeeeeee
Kakko’s Camp, do you like any Rangers at all? You sure don’t when games are underway 🙂
I can tell you know what you’re talking about by the way you show up during games.
I do my biz at The Athletic, as you know, and I don’t comment here much due to your incessant in-game hand-wringing, makes it tough to enjoy games when the Rangers are tied or trail. It’s more fun over there anyway because you can go back-and-forth. To each his own!
96 has best carry outside 10 on the team already, can motor and make plays
watching replay and Rempe is having a game. Play tough and making plays better than throwing hands for no reason
multiple times Wennberg looking for Kakko on transition but 24 is behind the play
Norm
If I was easily swayed I be an azzlander fan and posting on the Athletic.
very fun game
rempe chants and his smile are amazing. So wish that goal counted
good penalty drawn
definitely changes what the other team does out there. The D are much less nasty when he’s in front of net
Built a good reputation very quickly
imagine hearing his ice cuts coming at you while your going into the corner to make a play
anyone hear the Rempe chants last night?
There’s a buzz everytime 73 steps on the ice. It’s pretty cool….
miller is a terrible defensemen. What are people watching that think he is top 4, don’t get it.
The Blues did not play a great game, you can see why they’re struggling, but the home team did a good job handling its own business too to take advantage.
this is the cool part of the regular season where you already know you have a team that’s bound for the playoffs so you have that hope…. yet you get to enjoy the games because they aren’t do or die playoff games. You get to watch the new players start to gel with the existing players. I’ve always enjoyed March hockey.
miller has been solid for several weeks ..and Jonesey looked very good last night despite the long layoff …glad they didn’t move him
This is the only place on Earth where Miller is considered differently than NHL observers generally and Laviolette in particular. Bizarre. And, yes, good night for Jones even the team was leaky for two periods, no surprise given the two new lines and two new pairs.
Toronto stole that goal from Rempe. When it was on its side rolling it was behind the goal line. That all arenas do not have an overhead camera above goals is ridiculous
This ‘place’ allows folks to have strong opinions on players without a brunch crowd getting their panties in a bunch and becoming a rogue peanut gallery making personal attacks like the stat heads and pacifists on the Athletic comment section
Panties and pacifists. What are those, weak opinions? 🙂
I like the set play where Goody, just over there’s line, dumps a soft pass into the corner and Rempe and the opposing D man chase after it. The Defensemen don’t seem all that interested in getting to the puck and coming away with it……possession time guaranteed…..hard to dislike….
They have a camera directly over the goal but the cross bar obscures the goal line. That looked like it was in when it was on its side. I think if the goal was critical they would have looked at it longer and called it a goal. The net cam actually gets a better view in this case. Soccer seems to put cameras in the corners of the net rather than the middle and that seems to give a better view along the goal line. That was called a goal on the ice and that actually stopped the Rangers from going after the rebound which they could have tapped in. The call on the ice should have been allowed rather than Toronto taking its best guess. There was nothing definitive to disallow the goal.
Remote’s non goal was as close to a goal without being a goal as there is….maximum lower bound…
Norm, I’m not one to come on here and bash ranger players and you won’t seemy name on here doing such but from what I’ve seen from miller is he is a good skater, has some offensive in his game but is a giveaway machine, especially in his own zone and sometimes right in front of his own net. That to me is not a good defensemen.
Th Rangers replaced 2 AHL players with NHL players and it makes a difference. Getting ahead was important too. It let’s them roll 4 lines and even out the ice time.
Igor got the better of Buch last night. If they went out after the game I hope they took an Uber.
Big week coming with game 7 against the Devils and then a showdown with the Canes.
20% of the Rangers rookies’ goals this season have been erroneously struck down by the league including the two Cuylle goals earlier the year and Rempe last night.
I hope Buch bought lindgren a beer for boarding him behind the net with no call
ORF – it is inexcusable for MSG to not have a proper overhead view. Is it beyond rocket science to put a small camera in the cross bar looking directly down?
I don’t hate Miller and try to temper by disappointments by the fact he gets so many minutes against a lot of top lines. That said, he needs to be tougher to play against (snarl) and for the love of God learn how to properly get the puck out of our own end. He’s been making the same errors for two seasons now and part of that is either a failure in coaching or just a failure between the ears.
JBro’s season, short of some forward’s injuries, just ended.
Stat heads and pacifists 😂
Trade Milla over the summa.
I don’t know what to think about Miller but our very experienced, knowledgeable and successful head coach and coaching staff have put him on the ice for major minutes against the opposition’s top lines all season now. I’d love to hear their opinions about the criticisms voiced here.
*NEW POST*
The reality is the rangers don’t have anybody better to put in millers spot. Lingren needs to play with fox and eventually schneider will replace trouba.
