Are they a mediocre elite team or are they an elite mediocre team?
Always ups and downs during the season but you do like to see some consistency in style of play, even when you lose. Seems they have taken the side spur the past month and reverted to a lot of the bad habits of past years.
Mr. Insults
then Mr. College
then Mr. Wedgie
then Mr. Sniffles
now Eddie Munster.
I watched Wheeler a lot last night. He’s a few steps behind every shift. He is slower than a broken clock.
I believe the reason for their regressing to pond hockey is something Emitt Smith once said.

I would think the lack of consistency has been addressed by the coach/coaches. It’s baffling how these guys loved the structure and were successful. And now they can’t see how defense first wins games.

Yeah Minx. Most of them seem to be thick as a brick.
They don’t like to play a defensive game and may have decided they can coast to the playoffs and try to turn it back on. Maybe it can work that way. The regular season is irrelevant to them now. The Bruins proved that last season. Not sure if the coaching staff is in on it.
Good point..glad the Rangers don’t quit like most of this blog
It’s awesome how nobody has had the stomach to write up a post-game review of that dreck performances
The Rangers were fortunate to star the season well and were able to take advantage of a soft schedule and some good teams still having summer rust. Teams are now harder to play against and that’s when the Rangers seem to fade and revert back to their favorite perimeter, east-west game with little defensive structure. They have been a 500 club for the last month or so. IMHO Drury has a lot of work to do for this team to have a serious chance of winning the Cup. Given the limited salary cap space and lack of assets available to trade, it will be very difficult to get what they need. I hope Drury has some good tricks up his sleeve.
We suck again!
