The Rangers opened the game a little slow and tentative which led to early pressure from the Kraken. Was this going to be a repeat of the Predator’s game?
About two minutes in, play was stopped by the on ice officials as a few of the lights in one corner appeared to have gone out. Though slightly dimmer, the decision was made to continue play and for the teams to switch ends at the first stoppage after the 10 minute mark of each period.
Seattle got on the score sheet first with a goal by Schultz from the circle at 8:41. Definitely a goal Quick would like back, he had a good look at it but slid too far across the net to make a play on the puck. 1-0
About three minutes, later Lindgren made a smart dump in that drew much of the Kraken defense down low. Though they got to the puck first behind the net, Lafreniere caused a turnover. The puck, and most of the Seattle defense, moved out to Chytil along the boards. Chytil quickly spotted a wide open Panarin on the other side of the ice, passing the puck over to him for a shot up and over the shoulder of Grubauer. 1-1 at 12:15
That goal seemed to really pick the Rangers up and from that point they more or less controlled the pace and overall game. Seeing that Panarin had something going tonight, Laviolette got him extra ice time by sitting Wheeler on a few shifts.
The 2nd period (and the rest of the game) continued with the same lighting issue. This would not hold the Rangers back and at 13:02 Kakko cleaned up a loose rebound in the crease off a hard point shot from Trouba. 2-1
With two minutes left in the period, a nifty exchange began with Lafreniere stealing and then passing the puck from just behind the net back up to Chytil near the circle. Chytil skated and deeked down towards the net before dishing a pass back to Lafreniere, now up in front, who put the puck home. 3-1 at 17:59
The 3rd period would become a bit chippier with the Kraken down 3-1 (but not for long). Miller skated the puck up the ice from his own end into the offensive zone before passing it off to Chytil. Chytil again spotted Panarin, this time centered in traffic, sending him a wish pass that was deflected in the air. Panarin managed to get and steady the puck before wristing it behind Grubauer. This was Panarin’s second of the night and Chytil’s third assist. Miller notched his second assist as well. 4-1 at 5:30
Around the 9 minute mark was the first scuffle. Gourde put a hard hit on Chytil. Fox returned the favor with a shove and then Kreider with a cross check. Gourde and Kreider then quickly ended up on the ice with only a few swings by Gourde. The result was a 10 minute misconduct to Gourde and double roughing minors to both Gourde and Kreider. Gourde’s night was done and he was sent off ice.
Less than two minutes later, Trocheck had a tilt with McCann. They had had words not long before and Trocheck made McCann’s head look like a speed bag
The Kraken continued to play hard and Quick had to make a number of pressured saves in the last six or so minutes to preserve the win and prevent a last minute Chinese fireplace. He finished with 18 saves.
All in all, a good bounce back win and on to Canada and the Calgary Flames.

The game when Flip learned that passing leads to good things. Huge strides.
Need 3 strong pivots and thought they all played 200 ft games last night
Laffy had a great game making smart plays on wall and Kakko scored a Kreider goal from 3” away. Key was getting shot on goal and forcing goalie to make save and deal with rebound.
West bonding trip could pay dividends. Stay tuned.
‘The McCanns are a fine, fine family, Sam. Known for their family-owned business of fine boxing products, including some very fine speed bags.’
Better effort, Let’s see if they can sting a few together. They don’t look as slow(except Wheeler) when they aren’t thinking as much. Wheeler may be Jarret Stoll 2.0 without the Cups or Erin Andrews.
I’ll bank the two points, but I won’t read too much into NYR’s performance; Kraken aren’t a particularly strong squad at the moment.
My three songs of the match:
Public Image Limited – Seattle
Billy Squire – In The Dark
Ric Ocasek – A Quick One
Good bounce back game …now for some consistency
Something to watch and evaluate after another 10 games or so will be the kids who have been more noticeable so far. Separating and integrating them throughout the lineup looks like it’s working to the benefit of the entire team.
Just saw the Brooks mention of this D’Angermangement event. Somehow I see him in the Post news section at some point after his career is over 😉
What was more enjoyable the W or the lights not working in the Climate Pledge Arena ?
Certainly seemed like a much higher compete level last night, especially on the boards. It seems to me they are throwing more pucks to the net and going to the net more for rebounds. Does anyone else see that or is it just wishful thinking on my part? Let’s hope they can start competing consistently.
Good write up. The brouhaha with Trocheck started after his clean hit on Dumoulin behind the net. It was great to see the team bounce back from the stinker against the Preds and not only come from behind but play with structure, discipline, and consistency of effort. Aside from that goal that Quick gave up he played a good game too.
In general I have not been the biggest fan of Chytil. One thing I notice this year is that – to my eye at least – he appears more willing to dump a puck or make a sensible pass during zone entries rather than trying to beat a defender one-on-one, at which he has only rarely been successful and more often than results in a turnover and chances the other way. Coaching? Personal growth? Am i fooling myself?
THE awakened. Trowin’ his 230 around.
Miller was good. [runs away, serpentine]
Chtyil can back up a defense…should have a good year especially if he stays with Breadman …just gotta stay healty
Wolfpack undefeated ..Berard has a few along with Othman …Anyone see any games ..curious how Sykora looking
Competition gets better as the trip goes along. It will give us an idea of what they have to offer.
Miller demoted, shocked, played better. About time all his Coaching and Press sycophants stopped telling him how good he is. He needed a kick in the keester and he finally got one. Maybe it’s a start, but unlikely.
Chytil with a world of latent talent. Needs only a heart insertion, like the Tin Man.
Chytil didn’t have a pre season
Ladies and gentlemen…. Your Two Ceeee….. filip flippin cheedle!!!
Great game. Buzzin. Coulda had a goal or two on top of it.
Gelling with Breadman
Laffy getting used to the right side
Good signs!!!
3 penalty kills allowed zero shots! Wow!
Only criticism of this game was in period 1 , gustafPeters’on was on the ice at least 2 maybe three times in a row with the first line (Mika’s line) and he had horrid turnovers and shows very low hockey iq with his wish passes that killed offensive zone posession time
And the O zone is supposed to be his strength ?!?
I bring good tidings!
Oilers announce Connor McDavid out 1-2 weeks with an upper body injury
I’ll be going to see Hartford play the Phantoms on Sunday. I’ll let you all know how it goes.
just interested in Sykora as a 4th line option later in season if they need some speed
I think right now we have the bipolar Rangers…. they’re up they’re down. Perhaps by December we will know who the real Rangers are. Maybe a tweek here and there to the lineup and perhaps we might have something.
Also they need to keep their feet out the cement buckets. Good things happen when you think move and react quickly.
Forecheck and Backcheck is the right Ckecksmix!
We should not have a speed problem, we have Wheels.
Is it possible that the 1 3 1 trap system will effect The DJ’s point total?
Minx I always wanted Wheels in high school but only had a bicycle. Nothing like it cruising around at night in the nyc burb winters; pedal faster to stay warm lol
Well now, see what happens when you play rough young man!

Watching Wheeler skate is like watching sap drip down a pine tree.
Sigh my Twitterfoo is weak today 🙁
Calhob can you send a write up of that game to CCCP and he’ll post it? I think a lot of us are also interested in the young defenseman (not just Robertson)
beezle any chance you can sign up to be a mod and help 3 c
i think you’d be good at it
Alex
I 2nd that.
Next you guys will have me president of the hoa again 😉
Sad Winnipeg news but now we know what Scott Arniel does!

I disagree about Beezle because I’m on this blog and that’s what someone has to do 🙂
Just a heads up… if you use Firefox and have the privacy option set to “strict” some of the Twitter embeds will not load. They do under “stadard”. Chose wisely!
Beezle, I can do that.
I just need CCCP’s email.
Calhob I think this is the one he wants people to use
odessitbk AT msn DOT com
Minx, I’ll consider it but will first speak to CCCP to see what kind of help he needs (for the blog!)
Cooscoos You’re right about Chytil. He needs swift kick in the ass. You. Could add Miller.
Beezle would be a great moderator.
Would also serve to diversify the key masters “just in case”. Knock on would. This place needs to keep on ticking to carry on ILB and James’ memories. And those we have lost before them like AnthonyM
I also hope Wicky comes back
(Wood) 🪵
Thanks Beezle.
Miller and Chytil have superb games, and now they need further ass-kicking? This is a 23- and 24-year-old pair who keep improving. Late bloomers by NHL standards, perhaps, but bloomers nevertheless. Bloomer jokes welcome.
I’ve been to a bar called Your Mother’s Bloomers
Yeah, in this bar I drunk “Your Mother’s Milk”… Great!

Every time someone becomes a Moderator, he starts to look around to see who he can toss. The best Privates make the worst Sergeants.
Not every time
Norm likes to promote his privates. …in a manner of speaking…
Coos for moderator !
Of note. Sabres PP1 was out there for the entire 2 min just now
OV is on the ice for 90% of Caps PPs. You ride the horses you have. PP2 is getting more TOI. Let’s see if the perform.
I third Beezle’s nomination. Those of us on the ledge need a highly ranked representative.
The Rangers’ rank second in the NHL with a 55.7 faceoff percentage, behind only Montreal’s 59.5.
They have been over 50 percent in draws in all but one game this season, when they posted a 45.8 percentage against the Coyotes.
Maybe the Peca Effect is real.
seeing the Rangers close to the topin face off wins is wonderful. It reminds me of one year under Tort’s when they led the league in fighting majors. For a guy who grew up watching the Flyers double and triple team Rangers that was something I would have never believed. Good to have a game tonight for us night owls. LGR
“All 32 NHL teams will be in action on Tuesday with staggered starts, which is why the Blueshirts are slated to play at 7:45 p.m. MDT/9:45 p.m. ET.”
Like.. what on earth does staggered starts accomplish? Who does it benefit and why?
Gravy is the better FO% because of the guy at the dot or because of the players around him? So many times in the past the NYR guy taking the faceoff “won” it but his teammates were unable to get possession either because of bad positioning, poor stick work or just being out muscled
Beezle
We get to watch more than 1 game?
I’m clearly behind the curve, first I saw this. Finally something on time in zone!

Bonino + 60% on face-off’s
Minx, Coos, EV et al: I spoke with CCCP about how I could help out.
I’ve agreed to help and will primarily focus on making sure there is always a go-time and writing up some of the post games (note: I’m rarely up as early as Ilya was so west coast games might be later that 7 AM 😴)
As to “moderating” – really not my thing but if I see (before CCCP) a drive by shooting/spam or something really over the top I’ll act – otherwise that kinda stuff falls upon CCCP.
My personal view is as long as you guys are respectful to each other, I’m good. If something looks like its going into the gutter, I’ll tip CCCP to take a look and decide how far is too far.
Also, in checking on WordPress (not a fan) I’ve discovered it now uses an AI to pre-detect comment spam. This may explain why some of your posts go to spam for no apparent reason. So… don’t write like a bot or chat-gpt 😉
Minx – on the staggered starts – the option is always there to watch more than one. I guess this is more about the “Foxwoods final 5” than the rest of the game?
On a weekday my limit is pretty much one game; by the time the NYR are over its catch the headlines and weather and walk the dog and off to bed. Weekends different story!
Glad to have you helping Beeze
Writeups by committee can help too when work bogs people down. I thoroughly enjoyed Norms guest writeup
I’d love to see an extended writeup from the word wizard Coos as we usually only get short witty posts from him
Interesting: “Despite shedding some weight in hair, Panarin said he actually gained weight this offseason, during which he tried to lift more than usual in order to try something different with his routine.”
I am a robot beep boop.
NYR are probably 100% on neutral zone draws which is skewing the average.
Coos promised to do the write up after Miller wins the Norris Trophy
Bravo, Beez! Great news.
And kudos to CCCP for selflessly keeping it all in motion during perilous times.
Greenwich neighbor: ‘Who’s the old bald guy that moved in next door?’
Must be the hair apparent.
Think he got tired of being called Krusty here?
He took going incognito in the playoffs a little too seriously.
Beezle is my hero 🙌🏻 ❤️
Thank you for helping!
I love our blog!
Let’s keep it running together!
C3
Indeed an ice oasis
ILB would be so proud of you CCCP
Any time we speak of him or James their spirit lives on. This place is a special reminder of them. I’m glad that we know their real names in order to remember them properly. Let’s Go Rangers!!
Putting this idea out there to see what people think. No pressure to do it unless 3CP wants to
Under the “about us” blurb on the page explaining what this place is
Should there be a small “history” section where we can honor those who created and ran this place, with a brief timeline of establishment?
There should be a short(ish) 12 page proctored exam about the history of this blog and its founders/execs and Moderators over the years before any new members are considered or accepted.

Some of this blog self-regard seems overblown. I find the place pretty boneheaded if I’m honest.
Norm promotes his privates and now declares that he is overblown.
Norm, if we don’t self-regard this blog then who will?
Still the best place on all the internets for the best insight, musings and gibberish.
The Clinton presidency was overblown.
Oops, forgot, no politix
Norm
Please 🙂
Won’t be able to watch the game. Gotta be up at 5 am for work! [Eyes roll]
Norm
The Clinton Presidency was stained.
I may get the 1st period in, my eyes close on their own.
Thank you to CCCP and Beezle for keeping this going. I for one, greatly appreciate it, as this is my go to place before, during and after games. I love the humor and banter, along with the occasional spirited debates on some of our loved or not so loved players. Thank you for all your hard work keeping this together and honoring Ilya and James.
