Welp, Turk’s pissed
Can a window close that was never really open? It’s like a tree falling in the forest.
Hate to be right! That’s it.
Extremely disappointing effort. Glad Gallant kept Goodrow as a 6th man when we needed a goal. It is definitely a series now.
D is going to bring up into the zone. Derbils sending one guy in and mostly everyone else hanging at blue line.
Felt like a November game; no grind by 3rd:4th line to put pressure down low but really not getting the D pushing it.
Reality is PP needed to come thru. Too much Kane freelancing and Bread turning it over.
2-2 after 4…
Feeling pretty sad having seen this Broadway production since 1981.
Kind of like Pottmseries with Ziba missing first few games
Pitt
howden scored
Alex…..of course he did.
Series aint over yet.
Depressing tho, to lose these games so close.
Well I just finished the latest clown show. I’m broken and have given up on this team. They are not capable of winning a cup as I have said all along since the end of last season. Krusty, Mika, and the rest of the core don’t have what it takes. Fortunately I am so used to disappointment that it doesn’t matter anymore. And just like Hank couldn’t make the big save when needed most, neither can Shesterkin. At least Dolan gets his 3 playoff game.
Unfortunately, this is the Ranger team that many of us feared would show up for the playoffs. Playing soft, poor compete level, with their top stars (Panarin, Kane, Mika) doing their Claude Rains impression. As discussed by others, I agree that this game most likely decided the series. Not much reason to believe otherwise. Ranger players know how to talk a good game, just can’t walk the walk. I really hope I am wrong, buts older fans have all seen this show before and it doesn’t end well. See TB series last year if you need a reminder.
Leafs win 5-4 in OT down 3-1 in the third. Up 3-1 in the series.
Leafs win. Sorry, down 3 GOALS in the third
53 years of frustration makes it hard to be positive.
Rich – your 9:56 – the answer is yes. They can send a new letter, as the Rangers will be getting schooled by the Devils for the next 5-7 years. This team will not win when top players(Panarin, Mika,) disappear every playoffs. Cap constraints and a lack of top assets in Hartford means there is no reasonable expectation that they can make a run for the Cup after this season.
St Pete – Feel your pain!!!! Was out at one of the Ranger viewing party bars and I stopped watching. Read the RR2 thread instead of watching, as my years of experience already told me what the final outcome would be. We always hope they will surprise us and play the right way and we walk away very much disappointed. I have zero faith that they will pull out this series, but will hope like hell that I am wrong.
Remember my post from April 21st “For what it’s worth, the last time the Rangers took a 2 zip lead in the playoffs they proceeded to lose 4 straight.”
Mkh……😭 I unfortunately agree. I’m,m guessing I won’t be seeing another cup. Glad we got 1 even though Keenan ruined the party.
as Parcells said – you are what your record says you are
no excuse. we’re flat out not good enough
and this one will last a lifetime
thanks Sam
Mkh
Only the old timers really get it.
Honestly this Cotton Candy Clown show isn’t even worth the ledge.
Anyone see the Kerfoot OT goal vs Tampa bay tonight yet?
A re-direct down low. Like Kreider on the PP when he’s hot.
That’s what the Rangers need to do to beat NJ… There’s no other way.
Kapper57 Agree 100%. That is how you win OT games in the playoffs. With the players we now have The Rangers will not win. Itis not in there DNA. We are stuck with what we have. Sorry to say it but this team does not have the intestinal fortitude of a winner.
Quote for the Mika the DJ spin doctor. “We know what we have to do.” 🤣
Does that mean they have chosen not to do it? I think they actually have played pretty well. The Devils are a good team that took a couple of games to acclimate to the playoffs. They let Hughes get behind them once and allowed a shot by a trailing D late in the game. Igor didn’t help them on either one.
We know what we have to do? I suppose then it is appropriate to ask….why haven’t you done it? Asking for thousand and thousands of absolutely exasperated Ranger fans who frankly are sick of the same old show every spring while expansion teams win cup after cup and some have more cups than the Rangers who have only been around since 1926. Shameful.
Schmid happens.

up until about 1970 there was a very biased nhl. teams had territorial rights to players so rangers didn’t have access to best canadian players in eastern canada. no draft. no free agency. and garden allowed circus to displace rangers and forced them to play on road on those occasions they made the playoffs. so wasn’t always the same old show that you see today.
example 1950 finals. played 5 games in detroit. 2 ranger home games in toronto. lost in 2 ots in game 7. no i was not alive.
Thanks Alex. I do know the history but I appreciate you pointing those facts out.
Starting in 1981 when I started following the Rangers I pored through media guides quite a bit and have a head full of useless knowledge…..except here.
Still 4 cups in nearly a hundred years. It’s like being a Chicago Cubs fan sometimes.
However, I’m not going anywhere…..I am a Ranger fan through and through. I think many of us Ranger fans are Ranger fans because we have a thing about pulling for the underdog…..which they generally are.
By the way Alex…..how are you feeling? Have you fully recovered from the dreaded Wuhan?
SQUANDERERS!
Rich
mostly ok re covid. been vaccinated and boosted a few times. i’m 67 (not 24 like most here). have stress test scheduled in late june. and issues re sleep apnea and i’m too claustrophobic to use the device. so i’m generally pretty tired at various points in the day.
i’m going to game 6. decided to try for 1 game this round late in reg season and i avoided fees by getting at box office when i went to the buffalo game. prices were so crazy i didn’t go for the 1st 2 games this series
thanks for asking. i hope you’re well.
i started following them in early to mid 60’s gilbert was very young. i heard shilbear and couldn’t understand who gilbert was. convinced my father to take me to 2 playoff games in 1968. weird set up. we were 2 seed and played 4 seed. while 1 played 3. so we win 1st 2 games. i went to 1 of them. lost next 4. i went to game 5. eddie g allowed goal from between blue and red line pretty late in game. i was naive enough to think we’d win game 6. probably the most i cried re the rangers was 1972 when orr and company won the cup on garden ice. that team was my boys. much more than 1979 was. then the isles ruined hockey for me for most of 80s. focused on my own sports, work and other aspects of life. early 90s brought me back.
i did enjoy the edmonton cups though in mid to late 80s up until 1990.
I’m 59 Alex…and pretty much physically falling apart. Had to give up bowling which I absolutely love as pain in my knees, hips ,shoulder and back can no longer be overcome. Poor me😭. Regardless, life is good. There are other things to do….I have a library of about 5000 books….so that will keep me busy.
My first game was in December 81 against the Flyers. 10 bucks for the green seats.
Nick Fotiu scored the first goal. Go figure.
Rangers lost 7-3. There was a huge fight in the stands and players actually stopped playing to watch.
I hope you continue to recover to full health.

59?
Alex
67?
I may be the old man of RR2 at 74. Maybe some of the young pups can understand my frustration. By the way rich, that line from the DJ is the same line he used after game 5 against the bolts last year.
Call me a pessimist if you must boys, because l have no hope of ever seeing another cup. I’m broken!
I’m not surprised. I had the devils in 7. It’s not over but this series reminds me of the tampa series where the rangers had a 2-0 series lead, Tampa made it’s adjustment and proceeded to win 4 straight. This series has the same feeling. The Devils are just starting, very young and talented. I can see the devils winning a cup in a few years.
Not good enough.
Best Ranger team since ‘94?
Lmfao.
Rockstars.
Dear Alex. Tried the machine for sleeping problems and could not get used to it. Good luck. Like you guys, I have seen this show before and am disappointed but what the heck. Life goes on and we will always have 1994.
Do not see this team making enough changes to beat Devils, but I could be wrong. On to Jersey and victory.
St. Pete
You’ve got me beat by a few months. I started going to Ranger games at the old Garden on 49th Street and those teams were bad, but, it was only $1 to sit in the balcony and I went to 33 or so of their 35 home games for several years. Those early experiences have kept my expectations low so I don’t get that upset when they fail. Even when they get lucky it doesn’t work out that great. The Devils win the lottery twice and get two guys who will be their 1 and 2 centers for the next decade. The Rangers get two “nice” wingers. It’s just bad luck but it’s nothing new.
