If you didn’t read LB’s latest article, find it. Definitely worth reading. It talks politics, so I didn’t want to link it here. But there is a reason Brooks won so many awards, he can talk sports and politics on the same page better than many around.
Paying $5 a month to watch this crap on ESPN+ is one thing. Imagine buying season tickets? Usually when a comedy show goes bad they bring out the hook.
Great article, ilb. Brooks has been consistent with his view on Ovechkin for a long time now. And LB hasn’t been shy about mixing politics with his hockey writing, ever.
Brooks is a Hall of Famer and a treasure.

Too many no shows this year. Games like that one put GG in jeopardy. Having the team ready to play is a big part of his job. They usually were last year. This year not so much. It wasn’t as discouraging as thew knicks playing 47 minutes last night. That was really deflating.
I’ll write the game off – the guys were playing at home, post-Christmas and had a break where they were patting themselves on the back.
Now it’s time to get the eff back to work—party’s over, boys.

Bunch friends from work started getting tickets once a year a few years ago. I don’t usually go because if I’m going to lay out the money for the tickets, I want to go with my kids. I went this year and it was the Chicago “wake the eff up” helmet-throw game. Valiquette called it their worst game in 2 years. Wasn’t able to watch last night, but hopefully it at least has a similar effect going forward.

Personally I think Laffo-Busto on the 4th line accomplishes nothing. He belongs in Hartford where he can make it break it. Either the guy is a bust, OR he doesn’t want to be here. He knows he has zero chance to progress with Gallant as coach and Panarin and Kreider on LW. Anyone who can’t see that is not paying attention to what’s going on, it’s not complicated.
Need a potential scorer on that line. Frenchie sorta fits that bill.
At least that may be the thinking. Laff has has flashed a big smile in more productive days for his line.

Had a poster of Rod Gilbert on my wall as a kid. He had the classic navy blue uniform they wore in the 60’s and early 70’s. While I love the Rangers uniforms as is, I’ve always believed the colors should be red, white and navy blue,(not royal).

So to close the chapter on last night I think it is safe to say that the Caps came to play hockey while the Rangers thought they were taking a leisurely skate Rockefeller Center.
Othmann had zero points in Canada’s 11-2 win over Germany. He was broken up from Bedard (who had 7 points) at 5 on 5, so he gets a slight pass there but he was reunited with him on the power play.
Canada had 7 power play goals and Bedard collected 4 of his points on the man advantage. No excuse there.
I didn’t watch the game so I have no idea how he looked but there’s also no mention of him in recap articles other than a reference to Bedard splitting from him.

Drury has had 2 drafts…Othman had a nice pre-season camp and well over PPG in juniors but he’s a bust here…based on 2 games

Seems to be an issue with quite a few of the Ranger forward draft picks they play well, questionable? But they just can’t constantly put the puck in the net. An obvious problem.

I wonder what’s going on there. I don’t see how that helps unless he has stopped trying which doesn’t seem to be the case. If you aren’t going to play him send him to Hartford. Sending Jones and Carpenter there sems to have made them a better team. Not sur how much it helped the Rangers though.
Maybe he wins up in a Kane trade in lieu of a first round pick. That pick is worth more at the moment, regardless of where it is in the round.
GG benched Laffy a game last spring and think he scored 2 goals next game…just sayin
Does anyone think Kane makes them a viable cup contender? He would be a pure rental and it’s not happening this year. There’s no reason to overpay for him. LAF may not be a game changer, but, he still may be a solid NHL player. Giving up him and/or #1 picks for a few months of Kane and no realistic shot at the Cup makes no sense.
Agree ORF ..if they are taking that type of swing rather have Horvat or O’Reilly. Really prefer more modest moves like a Hornqvist for RW .

Why, have not seen much of Hornqvist this years since he was hurt but if he’s healthy he’s not gonna cost much especially if Florida needs cap space. He goes to paint,plays RW and is a general pain that could be a good fit
If Dolan is the one behind all this BS of late this franchise is doomed to mediocrity.
