Well, all good things must come to an end and thus the Rangers win streak ends at four, the last five game (or more) streak remains late March of 2024.

The game was well in hand through the first period, shots 8-6 and LAK up 1-0. If the team came out for the second with just a little bit more they should at least be able to tie things up? Or they could come out looking like they just feasted on turkey, sleep walking through a period they gave up two goals on sixteen shots while only putting up three shots of their own.

The only goal for the Rangers came at 02:29 of the third period, a Trocheck (14) tip on the PP of a Fox (30) shot, Zibanejad (36) with the secondary. They actually played a thrid period much more like the first period of the Minnnesota game, though without the puck luck – there were quite a few near misses.

As a result, they retain the #4 draft spot for now and will need Chicago to go on a winning streak to improve to #3.

The Rangers will have a chance to start a new win streak when they take on their cross-river rivals, the NJD, on Wednesday 18 March 19:00 EDT at MSG. Telecast is by TNT and HBO MAX.

    ORF they drew a few regulars back in last night only to crush their spirits so not too surprising.

    Calgary no help against the Wings. Bad teams lose a lot. Pens blow out Avs without Sid. LA Kings were desperate. The Rangers aren’t.
    Depending on how BC does in the Hockey East Tournament they may sing Fortescue on Sunday or Monday.
    I was watching the BC Maine game and they mentioned that the Bruins have 6 draft picks on BC. They are savings on scouting costs. The scouts just get Charlie cards to take the Green Line to Chestnut Hill. Hagens will likely sign after their season ends. LeTourneau may stay another year, but he is having a break out season this year(20G/17A) and could leave. Three other guys are 7th rounders so they will likely wait to get a degree. Will Moore is a 2nd rounder who hasn’t put up big numbers yet. He’ll be staying on.

    I grow fatigued watching Miller and Sheary. Unnecessary going forward. Does nothing to accomplish anything this year. Let the yoots play. How in the heck do you know what they can do if they don’t play. My word this organization is butt stupid!

    I’d like to see Sheary bumped up to the Trocheck line, and Cuylle move to the Laba line. Why you ask? Because I think Cuylle would fit beautifully with Laba, and Kartye, and the Trocheck line is meaningless to me.

    I agree with half of your post. Cuylle is not a top 6 forward. He does belong with Laba and Cartye. I have said it numerous times on RR3. On the other hand, Sheary belongs in the press-box, in Hartford, or waived.

    I think it is premature to write off Cuylle as a top six. Call it a junior slump if you will (he looks to come in around 40 pts vs 45 last season) but he’s been yanked around a lot between lines and often playing his off side.

    This too is another preplexing NYR trend – drafting players that they know are likely to have to play out of position for quite some time and then expecting them to excel at it.

    I have not yet persuaded myself as to whether Cuylle is a second liner or a third liner but I would definitely like to see him have a run of games with Kartye and Laba because I agree that there might be a very good fit there. Since we’re not holding auditions for the other wing on a Trocheck line for next year, I’d rather see someone like Edstrom or, heaven forfend, Sykora, play on with Miller and Trocheck than Sheary. Couldn’t Lamb play 9 games without burning the first year of his ELC? If so, I’d like to see that as well.

    Lamb’s Ranger contract is for next season. He is on ATO or PTO in Hartford. If he played for the Rangers this season would burn a year of ELC.

    glad to hear cooscoos is ok or at least on the mend.

    i went to last nights game. saw the kings for warmups like i did earlier in season for ducks and oilers. bread played around with trocheck shooting pucks at each other.

    record this year for me 2-8. last year 3-10

    will try for a midweek april game

    Was thinking about the McDonagh trade, (I know JT was included in that) and how that was supposed to be the linchpin to the last retool. Similar to how trading Trocheck is supposed to be the linchpin to this version of a retool. Would anyone have been ok with a McDongh type return? Howden is approaching 500 games. Does Stramel get to 500? Libor Hajek was a bust. Would Carson Lambos end up better than Hajek? We shall see if there is better deal out there over the summer.

    Nope, thinking Drury was right not selling low. Guerin or Tulsky should have paid up. More teams will be able to make offers on Trocheck after season with more cap space and a lousy UFA market the catalysts

    Amazing update on Coos! Was definitely fearing the worst.

    I’ve barely been watching, partly because they stink, but also lost my mother last month. Of course, they dragged me back yesterday with the winning streak to promptly revert back to how I remember them.

    Cullye is a 3rd liner on a good team, and 2nd liner on NYR.

    If we had a real GM he would shut down JT for the rest of the year. What does the team gain by having him play? They looked better without him. Him playing with Cullye and Trocheck is not working. He is definitely still recovering from whatever injuries he has had. Let him heal and get ready for next year. He is not helping the team. He is being selfish and the GM is being foolish.

    Howden mention made me check – he just returned last week from injury, was out most of Jan and all of Feb. 44 GP, 9G 6A this season.

    Total: 475 GP 71G 85P 13:33 ATOI

    The 475 GP puts him tied #1953 of 7866 that have ever played a game. 741 games puts you in the top 1000. Mika is now tied at #421 with 996 GP. The ‘kid’ Lafreniere is tied at #2072 with 447 GP.
