There is actually a lot to write in this area to tee up the game, but it’s my birthday and I’m not spending the time to do it. Clearly, this is an HAV.

1st?
…and 2nd
No, I like to be 3rd
Beaten up, depleted, but proud Rangers should (MUST) win. For they own sake… and for us. LGR!!!
Happy 26th, Doodie!
And thanks again for doing this for us
I rely on Grabner, Zuc and Kreider. In this order. Pule-e-a-a-se!
LGR !!!
Let’s Go, Injured Rangers!
Raanta should be the impenetrable Finnish Mannerheim Line tonight for us.
Gut check. 4 out of top 9 out.
LGR!!! Just Winterpeg Baby
Nice passing
I got to repost than:
With a full line and more of the team’s best “stars and hopes” forwards – Nash, Ziba, Buch and now VZ, out of play, our, heralded at the beginning of the season depth, quickly became very shallow… and I’m afraid our ship ran aground. But there is no reason to trash, badmouth or try to overanalyze team, without it bests, when all links are broken, system couldn’t be supported and as a result – moral and collective psyche is low… So take it easy on our left guys, will ya?…
Should play fast, faster and even more fast and shoot in first opportunity…
Post Dinger, gulp!
Happy Birthday, Doodie.
That’s a problem in own zone – either waiting with a puck too long, or try puck handling instead of simply get it out of zone momentarily…
Scheifele doing his Stepan impression.
Rangers chances scoring slim winning none. These bottom 2 lines are pathetic. Not an ounce of offense
Oops. Stanford, not Scheifele
Autocorrect this iPhone
Doodie, words in my broken English couldn’t express how grateful I am personally, for what you’ve done and doing. Happy Birthday and have as much happiness as you can carry!
Finally!
That’s for Doodie!
NCC passing display
pass pass pass pass pass pass pass pass!
Could be a game…
Nice hands, Grabby. He’s been so great, but his hands are still in Austria.
Both fourth lines struggling.
Who is beat up more? Rangers or Black Hawks?
Play for the point.
That’s a shame… Should be in. You try to win, guys. Victory will write off everything.
Army football recruiter: ‘Play for the Point.”
More Grabby hands. Rangers should be up by 3.
Rangers blowing scoring chances left and right. Well look back 2 hrs from now.
Rangers clearly shaving points since Kreiders goal
Can these players handle the damn puck?!
For the past three weeks it has been impossible for us to keep pucks on our sticks
Stall totally abandoning D, looking to get HOF ink with scoring.
Look at Mark Osborne go!
I love Grabner. If only he would have an angel’s looking face of Kreider, instead of this Austrian mountain moonshiner’s look…Sigh.
Just logged on… other teams will continue to take liberties if AV doesn’t change his attitude on response to dirty
That looks like about the hardest stretch of games I’ve ever seen
All these squandered opportunities usually bite you, but great skating.
The ice must be great if it’s -80 up there
Coach has the blue lips and manic gum chewing of a two pack a day smoker
Wait, Trouba is playing for the Jets? Wasn’t he supposes to be a New Yorker? 🙂
Rangers dominated. Great pass by Step on the PP. Staal with the saving defensive play early to keep them ahead.
Two second lines, one fourth line, and one that would great in AHL. Sounds like Tom Renney’s era.
Kreider, Step and Zook would be a first line for quite a few teams, IMO, at least the way they’re playing the last 2-3 games.
“If it doesn’t have red dot on it, it stays here.”
Winnipeg stinks. No neutral zone pressure, and no structure in the D zone.
Make Dave Babych’s moustache great again!
Is that cashmere?
Kreider should start doing the Lambeau Leap at MSG
Soggy, moldy, fungally challenged tracksuit stopping up drains in Jets’ shower.
Pavel Bure impersonation? Anatoliy Firsov was doing it long before Bure got out of his diapers.

Snepsts looks positively Neanderthal
“You’re right, Joe.”
“About what, Sam?”
“What you were saying.”
“I didn’t say anything.”
“Well, you were right about what you were thinking of saying.”
Like genghis khan in night at the museum
Interesting shift.
If you are a Dman and you can’t play positional defense, and you can’t get the puck up ice, what damn good are you?
5 defensemen?
It’s always amazed me how soft is Hazer for his size and frame…
Interesting wasn’t the word I used.
Haze is a sheep in wolf’s clothing.
Jets are pressuring the D men. Forwards need to give hem better puck support
Yup.
Fun while it lasted
Does that count as a pp goal?
Good patience by the Jets there, working the broken stick. Rangers should lose this, having missed so many chances in the first, but…
That’s what inevitably happened when you could finish this game in first period like 3:0…and didn’t do that.
Step very kind to step aside there and let the kid have some fun in front. Oh, and here comes Holden…not there yet, but coming…
Unwatchable. Filth in the Metro.
At least on the old blog, the wacky zaniness counterbalanced the miserable drinks. What does that make this blog without the wacky zaniness? A Yankees ESPN gameday Facebook conversation
This game like the islander game the story was written in 1st period. That’s where it will be lost. Blown chances break it open
Rangers are on the verge of being overrun. They simply do not have the puck very much since the end of the first period. Nobody takes the body. And Marc Stall sure seems to get outmuscled a lot these days.
Sounds like a good One Direction song
Last good check I saw was from Glass, last season.
And they called it the terfetence
Interference
Joe: “He inadvertently put it over the glass.” No chit inadvertently.
Great play by Grabner. I was afraid they were in trouble with this PK
Pirri forgotten how to shoot?
Pirri=Mr. October.
Do they remember how to pass to their tesmmate? Maybe check the color jersey they are wearing when they are in the lockerrroom
Jensen, Jooris and Pirri have barely played, will be interesting to see how much gas the Rangers have in the third, or if AV is forced to play them. Jets have FOUR forwards who aren’t playing much, though, so should be OK.
Oh and whenever they dump the puck into offensive zone, why do they never come up with the puck if they ate supposed to be such a fast team? Just a waste of time give puck away
Jpg’S sister dropping the knowledge like Galileo dropped the orange
So no other team in the world can be called the Golden Knights?
Flyers have won seven in a row?
John Scott retires? How can they tell?
He wanted Black Knights, but Army objected. McDonald’s complained about Golden Arches. Then he tried Goldman Sachs. I suggest he tries Knight Time is the Right Time, or Once a Knight is Enough.
They’re out in the desert. How about the Knight Sweats?
E3 is in awe of Scott because he has 1,000 sheets.
Or Golden Showers. Wouldn’t that be a pisser?
They have to figure out how to avoid the sieges in their own end like they had in the second. That’s a flashback to the Torts era when all they did was block shots and collapse in front of the goal.
Yes, the old “five in a picture”
Kane’s Wet Sweatsuit would be an innovative (and available) name for a team.
Flyers running up 7 against so-so opposition, just as the Rangers aren’t.
a lot of nothing going on here
Knights of the Living Dead
If Jooris was JTM, 2 years ago, the Uber would be waiting outside tonight, right to Hartford.
4th line makes a rare appearance. Boom, penalty.
Last thing Rangers need now is OT, having tomorrow much more serious game. Better score some shorty and quicky..
.. or get one and give up.
great kill!! and without Gnasher!!
wow, so this is what it is like to be all alone on the internet. in a room. all alone.
How can Hayes miss by far from this distance?
Short-shift PK. Excellent.
I feel better with Raanta in there.
Grabner not the guy you want in the box. His speed makes the PP tentative.
Agreed, Olga. The goalie that was NOT drafted by Sather is our better one, so far, this year!!!
Stellar job grabner. Know the time and score. Just stupid
Hanka Hanka’s best game in weeks! LGR!
Good kill. now some offense please.
Every Ranger forward played on the PK yet?
Dang perfect candidate for a jack in the box too
For $10M a year, Shampoo Boy looks good on the bench. Really good.
Pirri hasn’t hit the net since Halloween.
This Jensen AHL-er really has some dazzling moves (S).
Miller light…
Auntie >= Hanka Hanka
Hanka Hanka going to play Elf on a Shelf at Ranger Christmas Party.
Got to reach down and hold onto this point. Don’t get greedy playing 7-8 forwards.
Great play by Girardi!!!
Girardi took one for the team.
What Jensen did there, trying to force his way to the net, is what Kreider should do on every shift. Unlike Jensen, he can get there.
Agreed on both comments, Norman.
WHAT A shift by Hayes!!!
Wooohooooooo. Got a bounce their way
Purp!
Thank you Haze
I’ll still take the point, but two would be really nice!
Whooopi!
Nice win, Hank….er…ah…I mean…..
Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!
G-Man!!!!!!!!
Gut check? Passed!
Wow, stole one there. Great job, boys!!
Yahtzee?
Rangers Win! Now rest up for tomorrow.
Like my ladies in college, ugly but I’ll take it
Two absolutely stolen points, considering the wasteful first period. Outstanding defensive discipline the last minute, no fly-bys looking for the EN, gave them NOTHING. Wooooot!
30 minutes of Dugauy !
Full on Yahtzee.
I scored it Raanta Hayes Kreider.
Fast, Staal and Raanta for me. Good D won it.
And Girardi and Staal (I think he has some brothers, not sure) finished the last minute. It wasn’t pretty, but they got it done.
Now it’s on to Chicago, and let’s win there!
Well-played 3rd period. Showed some onions and tenacity. Good for them.
Honorable mention Hrivik. He spent it every shift.
Auntie, Hayes, Girardi (for that last power play)
Cannot be denied, Donuts is a horse.
I’ll say one thing for Fast, doesn’t set the world on fire, but he doesn’t take any shifts off.
He really is the captain on this team, Coos. terrific, steady, not flashy. Gets it done.
Gutsy W ..great PK tonight ..much maligned defense played strong
Antti may not be the long term answer but right now he’s better than Lunqvist! Time to go with the better goalie and let it play out!
Raanta, Girardi, Haze, in no particular order.
Good insight into whom AV trusts, looking at that last minute. Grabner, Fast, Oscar and the two warhorses on D. McD would have been out except for the long shift he’d just skated, but impressive job by the old rearguard (apologies to whoever it was who hates “rearguard”, a synonym for pants.)
Sorry, but it’s time to give Raanta a back to back
Hayes, krieder and raanta my three stars
4 posts tonight. Fate.
This is the kind of game they will have to win at least until they get healthy. Except for that stretch in the second a very solid, but, not spectacular effort. Have to admit I’m afraid Hank might have given up a softie and blown it. Hopefully Benny can help him get his head out of his butt.
I do love the sound of the puck hitting posts and crossbar. In 2016, you cannot hear that exact sound anywhere in the world unless you go into your basement and bang on an overhead water pipe with a Stillson wrench.
Only thing better is the smell of napalm in the morning.
Missed the game. I was at the Panthers game (The epitome of bad management) and when I got home to watch the third I realized I’d forgotten to tape it. Smh
Mucho glad for the win though! Looking forward to someone’s write-up. Happy Birthday, Doodie!
Happy 26th Birthday, Doodie! Hope you had a great one.
Catching up with dvr’d game…nice physicality throughout the game, end to end, enjoyed it.
–
I don’t think there is a softer player in the league than stepan…it’s embarrassing.
–
Hayes grabner miller best ranger line by a mile.
–
Speaking of best…I had it hated, no Doritos, and raaaaannntttaaa…in no particular order.
–
Honourable mention to enigma.
Happy belated 26th doodie…and thanks and well done with the HAV.
Happy belated Birthday Doodie. I bet your (26) 🙂
Thanks for the well wishes, everyone. As soon as guest reviewer SN emails me the review, you’ll all have it.
As much as i’d like to give lots of credit to Raanta, he rode his luck a bit with multiple clanking posts and the team were much more committed to defense than i’ve seen for a while
It’s not luck. The posts are part of the goalie’s equipment. I prefer to congratulate Raanta for forcing the guys to shoot wider than they’d like
RR2 – just sent over review. Spoiler Alert – we win.
Let’s see what they do tonight against the Hawks. This will be a real test of their commitment to D. Got to get a better effort out of Hank whom I assume will play. Hopefully they pull together and make a game of it.
Nice win when you’ve got 4 players out with injuries. I thought the defense played well over all. Raanta was steady in goal. Offense missed a couple of wide open nets in the first, but played a good first and third. That second period wasn’t so hot though.
Hrivik looked like he could stay as a fourth liner. Jensen? Send him back down where he belongs as soon as one of the injured gets back. The rest of the forwards played reasonably well against a middling team. I’m sure tonight’s game is going to be a lot more of a struggle.
Doodie – email.

Rangers score two and win, playing responsibly while still forcing the Jets to worry about their speed. Old-school win for old-school fans. Raanta was terrific, one iffy rebound for the goal, spotless otherwise.
