To this new post. Brooks had an article today about the coaching decision and how Drury could be waiting to see what happens with Brind’amour , Cassidy and Maurice after the second round.
Haven’t found a credible source but one of the “other” blogs mentioned that a “sauce” claimed Drury would move the first rounder this year. I think that’s more just common sense than speculation.

No problem, Wick. I watched the race before I checked in here. I’m retired now, but you should have seen me when I was working middle shift and taping the Rangers gams for when I got home at night. I couldn’t even look at another hockey fan for fear they’d tell me the score. Most people understood and were really good about it, but a few liked to bust my chops and give me a fake score or something just to get me going. I live in the Lehigh Valley so most of the people I worked with were Philthy fans. It was tough for them to not tell me the score whenever the Flyers beat us.
Eddie
Great story
Drury will save this team in 7.7 seconds!!
Was it Gomez who won the #23?
That’s awesome Eddie
I was taping on VHS too. When in residency id somehow avoid the score for several days until I could get to the game.
Luckily hockey wasn’t so ubiquitous on everyone’s mind. And people who did like hockey respected that obsession to not tell me the score.
To this day. My friends on text threads don’t know if I’m on delay and aren’t big into hockey so still safe.
For the reasons stated in Larry’s article I see about a 0.001% chance Brendamore comes to the rangers. If he interviews it’s only to posture for more money from canes or kraken
After watching a little bit of gallant interview I can get behind him as our coach.
I’m back my wife contracted a serious case of food poison Sunday and have been sick for 3 days. I was so sick I couldn’t even watch hockey in bed. I guess going out can sometimes can bite you in the but!
Oh no!!! Eli that’s awful.
Hope the recovery continues.
Did you report it to the health department?
James, I like the quotes on “sauce” but a footnote would be appreciated. I’ll leave the attorney out of this for now.
Good morning!
Cregg – Brind’Amour was my early favorite for the job. Some time ago he said his contract would probably be the easiest to re-negotiate in Carolina. But if money talks loud enough – who knows? He comes across as a coach that gets the team on board. Two time Selke-winner and a cup. Knows what it takes to play in both ends of the ice. On the flip side: That team is loaded with talent. I would think expectations were higher than a 4-1 exit in round two.
I read a while back that brind’ was negotiating for his hockey people and others like trainers to be taken care of
Sorry Papa. Time has been very limited this week. I hope ILB isn’t grading me on efficiency once he’s back.
$ and his frustration at not having credible goaltending would be the only reasons for
Rod to leave Carolina

I troubled when I say this, but unless the Bolts beat the azzlanders no one else will, they will lift Lord Stanley. The Minx has Spoken
By the way Brind’Amour can’t stop the puck!
Do the Canes win that series if the goalies are reversed?
Maybe Drury and other GMs know something we don’t about some of these coaches. I hope this doesn’t turn into a situation where there’s a 3+ team race for Gallant.
Goaltending is a tough egg to crack in this league. So few teams want to draft a goalie in early rounds and develop them.
UFA goalies are risky and sometimes ugly (Bob?) buisiness.
But you can see pretty clearly that teams like TO, Carolina, Edmonton are all going to need to find someone to be the guy if they want to have a real shot while their respective windows are open.
James, if it matters, A++ from me.
Here’s my take on a few things Rangers:
1- I think Drury will actually find a deal to be made that includes the Rangers’ R1 this year.
2- I think his choice for HC as of now is Gallant and that the only guys that may make him think twice are Brind’amour or Maurice if one should become available.
3- I don’t think it’s any mystery to Drury that if he’s going to upgrade at center it will have to be via trade.
4. Once the playoffs end we’re going to see a lot of things happen quickly starting with the head coach hire.
That definitely matters, PB. Thank you.
James get on the phone and drum up some interest for your client Georgie
Bobby,
speaking of armchair GMing, I was just looking at Montreal’s stat page for the post season and praising them for having a roster that really is built for the post season. I think it cost them some regular season points but that’s the lesson to be learned here.
With that said Danault is 0-2-2 for the post season. How do you think Rangers/Brunch fans and NHL network radio would feel about that if he were in NY playing top six making 7 million?
ps- Neil Peart couldn’t drum up interest on Georgie.
James I could care less what Rangers/Brunch fans think but maybe they would appreciate a face off win
Danault isn’t getting $7m from anyone, maybe a team stretches into the low to mid $6m, but even that seems like a reach close to $6.5 it gets.
Biggest thing Danault shows is that you can play young offense first centers if there is a capable top or middle 6 matchup center that can play the heavy minutes. Ie no reason Chytil couldn’t be kept and given more responsibility if we replace one of Strome or Mika with a more well rounded center.
I do see trouble ahead for the Habs tho if Vegas closes things out
Is Lehigh Valley related to Steve?
No reason except for the fact that Chytil sucks.
But hey, as long as Strome is gone! right? right? right?!
Danealt in middle …Chytil to the wing….Buch …to another team
What would be the rush to hire Gallant right now? I’m not big on RBA, but why not wait to see if he shakes loose? Why not talk to as many people as possible and hear what they think of the team.
I guess the rush would be to get him before Seattle, Columbus etc
BDL I’d be equally – if not more- interested in Maurice should he become available.
My concern is that those interviews are merely a formality and just to be ‘extra extra’ sure even though Gallant is their guy.
If that’s the case, then just go hire Gallant and get him involved with roster assessment.
Last thing Drury needs is to hire his 2nd or 3rd choice because Seattle or another organization hired his guy…
Bobby said rush. Bringing my Neil Peart joke full circle.
You think Gallant wants to do a full rebuild? That’s what Columbus would be. Or to try and catch lightning in a bottle a second time in Seattle? Gallant wants the Rangers, and if RBA leaves Carolina, Gallant could easily fit there. No rush on anybody’s part. Gallant should be confident he’s getting a job, and the Rangers should be confident that they will get there guy $.
It’ll be interesting if Columbus is looking to hire the same coach as the Rangers. While the Rangers can outbid them and anyone else, JD may just have a very convincing angle to sell.
More than anything Gallant wants to work in the NHL again. If one of those two teams make him a lucrative offer he’s not going to say “I’ll let you know”. We both know that.
I think Gallant is going to get the job. But I also think there are guys out there that Drury has talked to, or still wants to talk to before he hires Gallant. Drury has kept things very quiet. The local beats, and the plugged in guys have not had a lot of info on who the Rangers have talked to. Only Tocchet’s people have leaked. Gallant has been quiet. The only reason we knew about the first interview was because it happened at the airport.
If Columbus makes Gallant an offer, he’s going to pick up the phone and tell Drury.
These veteran coaches know what a gig this Rangers coaching job is going to be. They all want the job. $ to make a big deal and a signing or two, plus prospects falling out of their pockets. If any of them are choosing between the Rangers and whomever, they are choosing the Rangers.
Be that as it may this will be the Rangers’ 3rd HC in the last five years. And it’s now publicly known that Dolan has his advisor keeping an eye on things.
So that has to be taken into account in regards to how this coaching job will be. There’s immediate pressure for immediate results.
But I guess that’s how it goes for any head coach taking a new job. There isn’t much time for “well they need to adjust to the new coach and his system”.
Maybe you’re right, BDL. IDK honestly.
Torts is another guy no news has leaked about. I think he may be done for a while. Or until a contending team hits a mid season lull and fires the coach late.
Pageau
Stone scores OT winner and keeps Mac’s line off the slate again save for the ridiculous Flower brainfart at end of first on Saad’s goal with .08 left in period..
Kog taken off that first line; last 4 games ZERO ES points, -5
Graves having a tough series in this one, SN. Flower pulled the ol’ Belfour with his glove. Don’t see too much of that from him.
‘Kog may go the route of Corey Perry and Joe Pavelski after this post season.
The advisor (Sathetr), was smart enough to see that Quinn was not an NHL caliber coach. Clearly JD and Gorton were not smart enough.
Torts and Babcock are getting Brunched
Gallant and McPhee performed a miracle out there in Lost Wages, but eventually started butting in beyond their agreed-upon boundaries and doing each others’ jobs. Recipe for divorce.
‘If I have to make the meal, I want to participate in shopping for the groceries.” – Bill Parcells
BDL, no argument here. They needed to be at this point. But it doesn’t make the HC position all that inviting. Especially to a coach that’s been fired mid season for not seeing eye to eye with management.
Not for nuttin, but Gallant is one seriously fat bastid.
Or maybe it doesn’t matter. Like I said. I really don’t know. But if Gallant is the guy no matter how well anyone else interviews then no point in lollygagging
Those French Canadians really reward themselves once they hang up the skates, Coos.

As Wick said a while back,(long before the purge), we need the owner to have some level of involvement. If I’m a coach, I want my owner pushing my GM to get me the players I need. Yes, he’ll push me too, but isn’t that to be expected?
BTW, Carolina still hasn’t gotten a goalie. That may change this summer, but that’s nuts.
Brodeur loves pie, any kind, and lots of it!
All this time Pete is beating the danault drum….not for the betterment of overall team performance…nope, it’s so Chytil can be retained in some capacity. SMH
This team, considering what it clearly lacks and what it needs to improve, is addition by subtraction moving chytil.
The Wick
Concerning Chytil I reluctantly agree!
These playoffs should be giving everyone a harsh dose of reality about guys that are pure scoring ability and speed
Stone is such a unicorn, what a stud.
Stone makes Kreider look like Rico Fata?
Wick, by all means move Chytil if we are bring back a top 6 center to replace one of the current guys, but i’m not in favor of just moving him and sticking with Mika and Strome. The kid was very productive when give a chance to play and see no reason he won’t produce even more if given more ice time regular strength and on the pp.
Very productive? That’s a stretch. If that was the case he wouldn’t be a big question mark. If you want to say you don’t give up on that kind of skill at such a young age, you have a point.
Pete
I must be missing something on the chytil “productive” stats. In 4 nhl seasons (not all full) he’s had 2 “hot” streaks of a handful games each and a whole lot of nothing.
I think you are mistaken about his “productivity”, because it’s fairly non existent, especially when you listen to folks talk about how great he is then actually look at his stats.
186 career games and a 2.7% scoring rate.
Meanwhile in 180 games mr 4th rounder scored at a 2.5% rate.
So yes, chytil’s production is at a similar rate to a guy that most said flat out sucked. That production?
Chytil was ‘very effective’ at beginning, got hurt (again) and his productivity dropped the more ice time he got.
Pete
Please clarify. You are saying you would much rather see a ranger centre group of…
Meeka
Chytil
Danault
Or
Strome
Chytil
Danault
Than
Meeka
Strome
Danault
I, for one, am not even sure the last one is $$$$ possible, but from a successful perspective the last one is far better than the first two. I do not like any of them, but if I had to pick one trio (from the three) that I wanted to win to get a franchise going in the right direction, neither one with Chytil in it is the one for that.
Lol…Chytil “effective” at the beginning before injury then not being effective again later or for the majority of time in other seasons prior to the “effective at the beginning” thing is a narrative way of saying Chytil was on a hot streak at the beginning of ONE season but then returned to his normal less than productive ways for a supposed offencively gifted player who plays one zone.

Thanks for posting that. There are a few guys in the 15 range (I don’t think the rangers are keeping the pick) that would interest me.

Drury: “Do you have any questions for me, Gerry?
Gallant: “Is anything open downstairs at the food court?”
Drury: “Ok Rick, do you have any questions for me?”
Tocchet: “Any idea of the under/over for the Montreal series?”
What’s everybody’s confidence level on the Bruins tonight? I give them about a 30% to win…
Drury: “Ok Rod, any questions for me?”

Scheferlie got screwed by the NHL player safety clowns. Royally screwed.
NHL really needs to fix that mess.
James- Love your questions from Drury.
Minx- Also love your Arniel “quote”.
(For some reason, I’m unable to “like” anyone’s comments.)
You’re a hater, Eddie J.
PB- screwed royally. And that’s still putting it lightly. That said, some guys laid massive eggs in that series. PLD, Stastny among others.
I haven’t liked a comment here inn3 years
They should have signed Hayes, James!
Coos- So, you’ve heard of Steve’s less famous brother- Lehigh Valliquette. Good ol’ Lee. : )
Cregg- Like you, the one good thing was that hockey was not THAT popular, so very few people knew any out of town scores. It was tough when they were playing the Flyers, though. Then I’d even have people who didn’t care or know anything about hockey, very innocently give me the results and ask me what I thought. Some people also thought I wouldn’t want to waste my time watching a game if the Rangers lost (not the case), so they’d tell me what happened. The one thing that helped me a lot with Flyer fans at work was I wouldn’t talk trash. I think they respected that. If I heard the Flyers lost an important game, I wouldn’t rub it in, I’d talk to them about it and show a little compassion. Of course, inside, I’d be thrilled.
Can’t fool you, Papa.
Beez- I lived and worked in Bethlehem, then retired in 2017 and built a home in Hellertown. I grew up in Edison, NJ, though.
James. Love the quotes
That would make a fun TV funhouse sketch or a clay mation short like the old MTV celebrity death match.
Lol
id say he was very productive this year relative to the ice time he got, which essentially included no time on the pp. 22 even strength points in 42 games, with a total of 555 minutes played is pretty good in my opinion, especially given who he was and was not playing with.
quanthockey.com has good breakdown of stats.
I don’t know if Chytil can take the next step, but not willing to just get rid of him because he has been misplaced in a 3rd role with limited pp time.
As far as your options, ideally you’d get a new 1C, a danault type and chytil and don’t think you could ever fit Mika, strome and danault under the cap. And personally I don’t think just getting a shutdown 3C is the answer because that won’t make Mika or Strome fare any better against physical teams
LOL, Cregg. TV funhouse is where I drew my inspiration from on that one.
Whoa, I’m seeing city names pop up that I know! I’m in Phillipsburg, NJ. That’s funny. Ever go to the PPL center in Allentown for a hockey game? I saw Harford play there a few times against the Phantoms the last few years. It’s pretty nice.
PB-
are you referring to Willie Mays Hayes? I agree. He can hit like Mays and run like Hayes!
Yes, Cal, my wife and I have been there for several Wolfpack games. It’s nice, seeing as we seldom get to the Garden anymore.
Calhob haven’t been through Pburg since they finished 78. I do not miss Rte 22!
Eddie – well it sounds like you out lasted both the plant and the tower! I wandered through a corner of Hellertown once but that is a distant nsfw story 😉
Hmmm… maybe I should consider a name change, not that I usually post that much.
Yes, and as I grow older, I see I’m outlasting a lot of things!
Eddie did you work at the university or some place else?
Pete
You are making the exact point for me and I appreciate it.
Chytil disappears even more than the other two centres in physical games, which is why I 1) do not like any of the 3 trios I posted
And
2) think it is absolutely ridiculous if you think keeping Chytil over either of the other two makes any sense whatsoever if you are actually trying to make the team better.
And
3) if they need a new 1C (I don’t disagree with that) and it’s not Chytil or strome or Meeka which is why they need a new one and a danault type is the shut down guy as you say to allow a offence only centre to be on the roster….why in hell would you want that guy to be Chytil over strome who is clearly the centre of choice for your $11 mil per superstar winger and is more physical than the other 2 centres (not saying much)? Again, it makes zero sense
1C
Danault
Strome
Looks way better to bread I bet than…
1C
Danault
Chytil
And
4) as discussed repeatedly here over the last couple of seasons, Chytil is not a fit at centre and the winger depth (especially considering the type of winger they need versus the type of winger he is) makes him the person without a chair when the music types,
I hope, since you are a huge Chytil fan, you continue to sing his praises and root and support him throughout his nhl career regardless of which team he plays for.
Pete
You can also get stats on a players scoring rate and other statistical breakdowns at
https://www.hockey-reference.com/
http://www.nhl.com/stats/
https://www.espn.com/nhl/statistics
https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/statistics
Those are a few places where you can get the scoring rate, which is a basic yet unbiased stat that can be obtained anywhere that most stats are found.
People that look for specific stats at specific places tend to be trying to contort stats to fit a narrative instead of being unbiased about what they show about which player.
Just trying to help you out.
👍
Again – Danault isn’t a number one C
But he’d make a helluva number 3 … number 2 maybe??
And yes ;
Panarin – Strome – Kakko
Kreider – Danault – Buch
Lafreniere – Chytil – Krapsoft
Rooney – Barron – Gauthier
Move: Mika for player(s) to improve above lineup
Just an idea. But you can see Danault clearly fits….
Lafreniere-Danault also makes sense
I worked for the US Postal Service for 33 years. (ducks)
Wick, I don’t love Chytil as a player but think he has untapped offensive upside and will be relatively cheap for a while, which cannot be said about any of the other guys. So pay big $ for 1C (whether Eichel, Mika on an extension or someone else) and then pay medium $ for placeholder 2C who will shift to 3C eventually and you keep the cheap offensive guy like Chytil who may still become 2C in the next couple years.
Danault can hang at 2C for a few more seasons and still be a good 3C at the end of his deal. My issue with Strome is that he isn’t who you want playing 3C in the backend of his deal because he isn’t good at faceoffs, isn’t a shutdown type and not a good penalty killer. I also can’t say i’m confident he will be a good playoff guy as just haven’t seen it yet, so not ready to give him a 5 or 6yr extension.
Panarin is gonna Panarin, but i’d prefer he played with a more physically imposing center and wing who can make space for him
Again we can’t afford to have a 1C, Danault and Strome in a flat cap unless we somehow unload kreider or trouba.
Akbar (everyone else too)
That’s a reasonable lineup but if we are looking for improvements to the team and addressing a significant needs, it doesn’t do much for that.
This team needs a bit if size and two way play and both those must come in players that have impact physical traits.
We also must look at the no move clause holders (Meeka and Kreider) when attempting to improve this roster THIS offseason (this is the one with danault available in theory as an ufa)
You can’t move the 2 above players technically (unless they agree to waive their nmc to be dealt)
Do you want to move strome despite his obvious link to bread and bread’s preference as him as his centre?
I’m honestly not sure what the available cap space is for the rangers going in to the offseason, but it can go quickly.
If you believe the rumours they’re adding a top 6 guy via trade…I’m guessing that’s not going to be a low cap hit incoming.
Adding danault will also be a decent cap hit if it happens.
So you have…new top 6 trade guy, danault, Lafrenière, kakko, kreider (nmc), Meeka (nmc), bread…7 forwards so far (with danault or his type)
Strome, Buch, Chytil, Gauthier, Barron, howden, krapsoft, Rooney still remain from lasts seasons not two way or physical impact enough roster.
You lose one to Seattle perhaps and in theory have 5 forward roster spots left (6 with a spare) for the guys from last season and for guys they need to address the glaring needs mentioned above.
Your lineup really did not address those other than danault and one guy is not enough it needs to be 3 or 4 at a minimum…
So who goes and stays and does it fit under the cap?
Pete
I don’t disagree with some of your assessment re the overall lineup.
The problem is the flat cap and future extensions and a poorly constructed roster.
If you want to see if Chytil can “develop”, I have no problem with that if he’s in Hartford for a few more years developing but having him taking up a top 2 or 3 centre position to figure out over a few years what he can do is a big treading water mistake on a roster constructed in this manner and he isn’t good enough or physical impact enough to keep a spot over some of the other younger players.
If you want to hide him on 3rd line for 3 or 4 years on the 2012 rangers roster or the islanders or Winnipeg jets current teams, then I’d say yes, do it I’m all in.
Unfortunately, this incarnation of rangers is nothing like those other teams I mentioned so there is no reason if this organization wants to move forward in a successful way and not continue to tread water that he should be on the rangers.
Even with danault as a 2C for a while (which I am fine with) your 3C needs to be a Barron type.
Who was the guy who said they wouldn’t compete for a cup for at least 5-6 years three years ago?
Oh yeah, me!
There are structural issues with this roster that will prevent a quick turn around until they move Mika, Chytil and Butch (only one more season) AND Krapsoft, Kakko and new roster addition(s) produce at a high rate. Lots of moving parts and expectations so mix needs to be right and throw on top of that a new coach and green GM.
The Habs’ success may have folks thinking it could happen more quickly, but they are an anomaly that could only come out of the new north IMHO. While their off season additions created a balanced roster ; not sure they get by Boston or Tampa with preCovid division alignment.
well Montreal disagrees with that assessment as neither Suzuki nor Kotkaniemi are physically imposing centers. Of course they may lose to Vegas for that reason (don’t think it would hurt against colorado as much)
Pete
We can both 100% agree Chytil is neither a first line or fourth line player, so we have to fit your boy in the middle 6 forward spots while making this team more two way responsible and physically impactful (neither of which describes Chytil)
So what exactly does your roster look like while addressing the roster deficiencies and “hiding” your boy?
really hard to answer without knowing who is our 1C and what other centers/wingers we have. But definitely agree if they don’t address those issues and Mika and Strome are both back next year then Chytil should be put at wing somewhere and get plenty of pp time. I wouldn’t trade him right now for anyone but a top 6 center or Matt Tkachuk.
But i’m also not convinced Chytil couldn’t do a serviceable job centering Panarin and grittier winger (or even kreider/Buch) as don’t think Strome is a unicorn in that sense
Pete
Nice try with Montreal but it isn’t about every player being physically imposing (which I did not say). Physically impactful players is what this roster needs along with two way guys. And once again Chytil is neither of those and kotkaneimi and Suzuki are on a more balanced roster that has more two way impactful guys up and down the line up which was exactly my point about Chytil in my 6:03.
Montreal does nothing more than reinforce my point about roster construction and Chytil.
And both the Montreal players are better nhl players than Chytil with less NHL experience than Chytil.
No one said strome is a unicorn except you.
I said strome is clearly Panarin’s choice and that may end up being a factor in his continued presence on the roster.
Pete
Your 6:34 isn’t really answering the question.
We all understand that we don’t know names of potential new players.
We also all know that the roster needs some improvement and the old regime and drury have stated as much.
We can also all agree that we have heard the team wants to add at least one top 6 player and more guys harder to play against.
So let’s get specific which where you are hiding your boy.
I’d say at a minimum the team adds 2 bee forwards from outside, agreed?
Two more guys with nmc…4 forwards so far.
Bread, Lafrenière, kakko not likely going any where. 7 forwards…. let’s pause and see where we are at
Top 6…Lafrenière, bread, nmc, new guy….
Top 9 kakko, nmc
That’s 6 of 9 top 9 forwards with only 1 change that presumably adds more of a missing element but if it’s eichel, does it really?
Of those top 9 guys 4 are wingers already and we don’t know the new top 6 guy’s position, if he’s a winger, he joins Lafrenière and bread in the top 6 with kakko still out there.
Now we haven’t even touched centre depth yet or more hard to play against guys or kravtsov in the top 9.
Lafrenière nmc new
Bread strome ?
Kreider ? ?
? ? ?
Kakko, kravtsov, howden, buch, Barron, Rooney, Chytil, new, Gauthier
Lose 1 to Seattle perhaps, perhaps a body in a trade but you still have roughly 9 players in this scenario with the top 6 newcomer being a winger AND you still have to address the organizational centre issue AND physical impact and two way guys that in reality should be done with more than 1 bottom 6 guy.
Or
Bread new ?
Lafrenière nmc ?
Kreider??
???
Strome, Buch, kakko, kravtsov, Chytil, Rooney, new, Barron, howden, Gauthier
Same scenario as above but with too 6 guy as a centre…same problems as before with one additional player (strome) in the mix.
Pete
The point to all of these examples is Chytil is not a better winger than kakko, bread, Kreider, Lafrenière, Buch or probably kravtsov and he’s not a 4th line anything.
The team is weak in the middle and Chytil is part of that weakness. One member of the weak trio has a nmc and the other is being crushed upon by the team’s high dollar star winger.
If the added top 6 guy is a centre, then he and nmc are the top two and the crushed upon one is either the 3C in name or he is moved to wing and the wing depth thus increases even more. There is a possibility of Strome being dealt, but I’m not sure that is part of drury’s process or even more so dolan’s.
If the added top 6 guy is a wing, then you still have the top 9 centre weakness as before and it’s far more likely and reasonable to think it’s the 3C spot that is addressed this off season and you’ve then added another winger (top 6 new add) to the top 9 and Chytil is not better on the wing than new, Lafrenière, kakko, bread, Kreider, and kravtsov, and not to mention Buch if he’s still around.
There is no spot, nor should there be for Chytil on this roster
Trading a player to gain something that your roster needs is not giving up on a player, it is using a valued asset to gain a valued asset.
And everyone is welcome for that myriad of options and scenarios for the forward group
I think Mika would waive his ntc if asked prior to losing him as a free agent
Well at this vete moment i’d say Chytil is better offensively than Kakko and Kravtsov and about equal or slightly below Laf, tho of course hope all three show big improvement next year. But i think Chytil could slot on any of the top 3 lines on the wing if room at the inn.
i’m also not positive we bring in another top 6 winger even if we move Buch because just only so much $ they can tie up on the wing while having to fix center and soon enough hanging to pay Laf and Kakko. Not to mention Laf and Kakko need top 6 minutes even strength and big pp minutes.
Look you may be right Chytil becomes just the odd man out, but I hope Drury is wise enough to use that bullet wisely, not to pick up some grinder because he has decided to lock up Strome and Mika.
Finally, I don’t put too much stock in Panarin having to play with Strome or having that strong a preference. They should be trying to have the best possible top 6 centers they can, not just catering to Panarin having a preference for Strome like Jagr did with Nylander
and not for nothing Chytil and Kotkaniemi have had pretty similar careers thus far statistically, with Chytil playing 15 more games and having 9 more points
If Montreal can build such a roster where he can play in the playoffs with two big bodies, no reason Chytil couldn’t do the same say between kreider and Barron or Buch (if still around) or Kravtsov. Big difference than playing with a very much struggling kakko last year and struggling Laf this much of this year, plus ahlers like Diguisep
Palmeri should of gotten 5 and a game misconduct
Varlomov > Lundquist
I haven’t watched a ton of the series, but Boston has looked pretty incompetent from what I have seen.
Telling you, as much as we don’t want to see the Isles make a run like this, this is the BEST thing that can happen for the Rangers.
A course correction is coming…. and not the “Glen Sather” way of picking up washed up enforcers. I trust Drury. We have a good core of talent, and he knows it’s time to mix in some playable toughness.
Islander D >> Bruin D
Islanders 3&4 Lines >>> Bruins 3&4 lines
A lot of guys conspicuous by their absence in Boston.
Wasn’t Coyle a big playoff gamer for them not too long ago ?
What’s happened to DeBrusk?
Isles might have enough to
get by Bolts.
If they do, the Cup is theirs.
Islanders > the entire f*ing world of hockey.
Trotz for coach of the…no better yet for man of the…no. No. Trotz for mayor no make that President better yet- GOD!
Trotz is god!
🙄
Just struck me
When Martin concussed Trouba he got no discipline despite making no effort to play the puck and the fact that it was obvious retribution for a prior hit trouba laid. Martin had a runway to make the hit and it was pretty high.
But schieffle got 4 games in the playoffs. For a bang bang play on a back check.
That’s what everyone said last year too PB.
TB in six…AGAIN
Major Nelson rubbing the lamp
Sorry I refuse to believe the NYI are as good as it seems. Boston is really playing terribly.
I said it here when the isles went up 3-2 in game 5, series over and Boston won’t have another lead for the remainder of the series.
I see dead people.
Better yet I hope the Isles get to game 7 against TB this time and lose in quadruple OT so they and their fans can suffer the same way we have
Taylor Hall for Conn Smythe
Gravy if the post season has proven anything it’s that some teams wildly overachieved due to the divisional realignment.
Bruins after top line put together by spit and bubble gum esp back line
Rangers don’t even have spit and bubble gum.
They have to envy Boston’s.
Everyone, James?
I didn’t say that last year.
And I’m not saying it this year.
It will be a great series.
Whoever wins it, wins the Cup.
Book it.
Lundqvist > Rask
Say goodnight Gracie
Palmeiri should be in the locker room
Papa I thought you were praising the isles last year too. Apologies for being incorrect.
There were a few guys out on Scottsdale’s ledge until Tampa snapped everyone back to reality
Pull the Goalie time?
Just when I thought I couldn’t dislike Boston any more than I do.
Trade the goalie time
Think Boston regrets trading for Hall instead of Palmieri?
FIRE CASSIDY!
HIRE CASSIDY!
I think Lou screwed them when he realized he could get Zajac in the deal for nothing
I actually hate the Bruins more than the Isles. So I’m enjoying this.
But I hate the Isles more than the Bolts.
So, go Tampa!
Nelson > Strome
Isles are winning the cup
Hockey s*cks
FIRE SATHER AGAIN!
Can you be a Perfect Line if you don’t get past the 2nd Round of the playoffs?
Boston wimping out? I don’t believe isles are that good. Go Tampa. The only favorite I have left is Vegas. If they lose all I have left is to root against…
Kyle Palmieri will get a bigger contract than former Hart Trophy winner Taylor Hall in free agency….
Double Book It!
Palmieri will also be suspended for the 1st game against Tampa
Triple Book it.
Alex cheer up and get your head right or I’ll have to BAN YOU😬
Lou:
“ Got to know how to pony
Like Bony Maronie
Mashed potato
Do the alligator
Put your hand on your hips, yeah
Let your backbone slip
Do the watusi
Like my little Lucy”
I’m sorry is anyone else getting a chuckle out of picturing Lou doing the watusi?
That’s comical. It’s better than that episode of The Addam’s Family when Lurch does the watusi.
The fact that Gorton coveted DeBrusk and kept trying to acquire him is yet another reason I’m glad Dolan fired him
BDL where are you?
Marchand > Everyone
Completely overlooked BDL’s final draft rankings earlier. If they make the pick I have little doubt that it’ll be Lucius from the U-18 program

I don’t read lips. What’s he saying, James?
Hate to say it but the stoopid Boston is no match for homeless fishes.
Papa if you don’t know what that’s from or what he’s saying you need to forget this game and go watch the Professional immediately
Taylor Hall Sucks!!!!
Tampa is going to turn them into the pout pout fish. With a pout pout face. For spreading dreary wearies all over the place. Blub…Bluuuub…BLUUUUUUUUUB
James, is that Soupy Sales in that clip?
Taylor Hall might be working at a car wash out on Prince Edward Island by this time next season
It’s Drexl Spivey!
Identity Line > Perfection Line
(Is that possible?)
Anyone know what the Isles fans are chanting that sounds like “uh ohhhh… uh ohhhhh.”
If it’s “uh oh” maybe they just realized they have to play TB next
And the fat lady is wailing her lungs out…
Blumhouse films is remaking Christine.
That makes me sad yet hopeful
YES YES YES!!!
I never heard guys before yelling “we want tampons”
Nelson/Zajak looking good tonight.
Pa
The
Tic
“Taylor Hall might be working at a car wash out on Prince Edward Island by this time next season”
With Tuuka Rask
Tukka will get fired the first day. He’ll be in the middle of drying off a Mercedes and just throw the towel on the ground and bitch that he needs to go eat something
I told you we should have signed Brock when we had a chance.
Isles fans. All class. All the time.
Wtf are they chanting?!?! They just did it again after the handshake line. And not “New York Saints” chant.
Brock can suck…
Need a good bubble hockey game.
Oh was the bonehead who said the bees had 0% chance tonight? Not that it was difficult.
I don’t see the islanders beating Tampa, should be a good series. This isle team just won’t quit.
James, Is that from your Son’s book again?
Been to izzy’s in warroad.
No Fussin’ no hussin’ no cussin’
Vasilevskiy will need to stand on his head!
James
If isles win cup I have to block some friends
I’m prob done with hockey too
This will be proof that there is no God and life is terribly unfair
Please Tampa or Vegas stop this runaway train
God bless you guys. You are true hockey fans. If the Rangers aren’t involved, I have absolutely no interest in what’s happening in the playoffs.
I enjoyed imagining Lou Lam doing the Watusi, James.
Craig, pretty sure it’s the white stripes seven nation army, its chanted at futbol games around europe and Habs fans do it too
Pete,
Nope. Not that one.
I’m soooooo used to that chant at games already. Hate that song btw.
It was a weird chant….. sounded like uh, ohhhhh…… uh ohhhhhh……
Interesting, but the teams with the better goalie seem to be winning playoff series this season. I bet Rask is gone from Boston next year. He was outplayed by Varlamov like the Canes goalies were outplayed by Vasilevskiy and the Hellebuyck was outplayed by Price. If only……….Henrik had not been outplayed by Jonathan Quick.
Kings outplayed the rangers big time
We were their easiest of all 4 rounds for them
There’s that 200 lb factor again James!
Tampa sweeps the islanders or wins in 5. TB just too good. Wish the Rangers had Paddy Maroon. Love his game and I hope he knocks Martin’s head over the glass with a monster uppercut…..
