First, – in disappointment.
Faceoff stats can be used to mislead….
I’ve stated countless times here it’s about vital draws and winning them.
If Meeka goes 10/13 on draws but gave up a pk draw that led to a pp goal against and then lost a d zone draw that led to the winning goal with 40 seconds left, that’s not good despite winning 77% of his draws.
If strome goes 3/10 but wins a pp draw that leads to a pp goal and wins a d zone draw with 17 seconds left to preserve a 2-1 victory, that’s a valuable 30% on draws.
It’s not about their faceoff percentage overall, it’s about having a guy or two that can win vital draws, not overall percentage (of course the higher percentage is preferred but it’s the vital draws are the most important factor).

I’m not going to look at every guy that plays centre on every team in the league. Bennett was just an example that you’re fixated on.
IF (notice the big if) you can’t admit that it’s certainly possible and realistic that a player that is a bottom 6 guy or a player that doesn’t put up 80 points a season that plays a more complete game and/or physical game can’t come in here and increase their point total by 15-20 points a season playing with panarin, then I’d say you are being argumentative and combative for no reason and are taking a very everyone else is always wrong approach.

You’re right. Panarin is the type of player to make those around him better. No question a 35-40 point guy with defensive accumen and jam to his game can get to the 50-60 point plateau.
agreed wick and yes i think Panarin has that type of talent, but just not sure that’s something you can count on working or really should have to be the way you find a center for one of the top 5 wingers in the league. Much prefer Gorton does some work and gets Panarin a very good center to play with

It shouldn’t have to be but the gm has failed with his treading water approach, so doing that versus the alternative of 3 or 4 more years of treading water and basing those years on the “hopes and dreams” of a future draft pick or not established nhl player…I’ll take the known quantity vet player with the style of play this roster needs and the panarin bump probability.

Another embarrassing performance. The Rangers not only lose puck battles around the boards, they lose them in the middle of the ice as well. The Islanders finish every check and the Rangers look like they want no part of being competitive.
This game could break a record. Most consecutive games against the Islanders that are shut off early.
