Howden is what he is. He’s an average skater and puck carrier and below par but
passer and shooter. Once he crosses the offensive blue-line, his lack of vision, creativity and hockey sense becomes his Achilles heel. He’s definitely not a bona fide NHL’er whether the gave him time in Hartford or not.

Howden is pretty much what the “experts” said when they acquired him. A bottom six center at best. Hajek seems to be the better player of the two of them now but he is not likely a top 4 guy either. Nils is the best piece they got out of the trade.

It’s like playing our way up the ladder, and gain confidence from winning and then taking a step up in comp.
Carry the strong play into Pitt, Carry that even stronger play from Pitt into Boston, and so on.

Another quick thought. Georgiev seems to get more offensive support more times than not.
Was the case last season as well.
Consider the fact that some of those close games they could have won earlier this year had a lot to do with him letting up a bad goal or two, it makes you wonder if they push a little harder on offense knowing it could turn into a 6-5 kind of game.
That’s not to say IR-gor hasn’t let up some ugly ones this season. Just seems to be a pattern when Georgie starts in net.

The Rangers seem to be gaining confidence that’s a good thing. Their youngsters are improving. About a year and half ago I said that Chytil just may turn out to be something special, I still believe that. Fox, Chytil, Lafreniere, Krakko, Lindgren, Miller, plus the additions of Lundkvist,and Kravtsov, IMO is a pretty good group of yoots. Add some snarl to the mix and I think we got something? And I haven’t even mentioned what else they have in the pipeline, Barron, Schneider etc!

Pavs was a troubled person his whole life. I’m not sure we can blame it totally on hockey. But it could have contributed to the rage he displayed later in life. I can’t begin to fathom what Barry Beck is going through after the murder of his son. Sometimes real life intrudes on sports which one writer used to refer to as the children’s department. Hopefully he can find some peace.

A few weeks ago I said I’d be disappointed if they missed the playoffs (though I didn’t expect them to) as long as the kids and team showed growth. Kids are growing. Still concerned about some of the vets and injuries.

CTE is a real thing. Went to college with a baller who played 10 years in NFL and was one of the first public cases as his wife, who he met at college, demanded they look at his brain afterwards. She couldn’t understand how he went completely crazy a couple of years after retiring; very sad story. Unfortunately, one of very many.
