I’l give you a new post because there is no way we will survive without it until Wednesday.
In case you missed it, Artemiy Panarin is taking a leave of absence from the team as he is being accused by his former coach, and former terrible NHL enforcer Nazarov for beating up an 18 yr old girl in Latvia in 2001.
You can find articles about it here and here.
Panarin vehemently denied the allegations, and since this morning the allegations have also been refuted by the hotel workers of the place it has allegedly happened, and by his Vityaz teammates who were with him that evening, as reported by Igor Eronko. Also, Russian media calls Andrei Nazarov a “shady figure”.
I will also post the original interview with Nazarov here. It’s in Russian, but the ( well over 300 ) comments are very revealing. They basically discredit Nazarov and call him a liar and mentally unstable.
A lot to be determined, perhaps in the next few days or so. I am a little perplexed as to why he is taking a leave of absence though. A lot more to come, for sure. Stay tuned.

The LOA is puzzling unless there has been some sort of a threat to Panarin or his family. I guess we will find out more eventually.
JD should hire Donald Brashear to be Breadman’s off-ice bodyguard.
Meanwhile in Russia…
I think the lesson to be learned if you are a Russian hockey player in the US or Canada is to remember the phrase ” No Comment”. Not for nothing;but i as an old guy do not reall y care what they think about Mr Putin. Shoot the puck, score the goal stop the other team from scoring. That is all I want out of them.
Maybe if we all were happy with ourselves instead of worring what every person in the world cares about when it comes to movies, fasion sports and most importantly politics. We would all be better off. Over the last year when the wheels have come off the bus aroung here about the former President; I kept saying why do you people care so much about this. In the end whoever we root for does not make us a better or worse person. It makes us Different, thats all.
Yeah Jeffrey. Because these Guys exist to play left wing on the hockey team you watch.
You have to put yourself in their shoes. If you grew Up experiencing something That you decided to as a successful adult to speak up on bc you know everyone back home is still dealing with it. Nobody would be in a position to tell you not to, in the same way us as hockey fans of the rangers have to realize how out of touch it is to be saying I want these guys to shut up and play.
Sounds like Kakko’s Covid protocol was due to false positive test.
The two guys on the Rangers that spoke up politically are NOT playing, so maybe there is something to shut up and play.
If true ilb, that would be the second time for Kakko. He has now missed two games because of that.
Kakko sounds like good news and Chytil is off the list. We can use something positive.
Very curious to see DQs lineup without Bread. Most likely KZB and Ryan and the pups.
Will The filth still be missing 6 skaters?
Blackwell to the rescue!
Here is the latest from Larry Brooks with some clarifications and a reference to his “well placed source”
https://nypost.com/2021/02/22/rangers-artemi-panarin-is-paying-the-price-for-speaking-out/
According to Brooks; Rogue Meathead in Russia says crazy things and Bread is off for two weeks in New York.
The last line of the brooks article was my immediate thought when I heard about this.
https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/putin-ally-targets-nhls-artemi-panarin/
“Ryan and the Pups”
Is that a new band or a circus act? Or maybe something at Seaworld?
So..he’s just a little more agressive than Mike ‘The Shoe’ Milbury?
Norm – Buckley’s kid writes of his aged, semi-senile father demanding a codicil in his house deed in Connecticut to include a large memorial to himself with his ashes inside erected permanently in the back yard. Christopher tried to tactfully tell him that , upon his dad’s passing, this monument would impede sale of the stately home. “Nonsense” said the old man,” it will drive up the price!”
Shouldn’t the doctor be in the hospital anyway?
coos, the Sharon house or the Stamford house? I sometimes wonder why we don’t hear more about James, who was astonishingly accomplished in all branches of government. Still alive.
Hmmm… Good point, Coos.
3CP…that video you put up earlier is clearly insane.
Vince Mercogliano is starting to look like Tom cruise took a bite of him and he’s now brad Pitts newest vampire companion
Good morning, boneheads!
From the article Norm posted it sounds like Panarin took time off to bring his family to the US. How about his wife’s family? Are they safe?
I love stating the obvious, this doesn’t help the Rangers chances of making the playoffs. Now we will really see what this Cotton Candy Crew is made of? Hmm maybe Old Jeff needs to pen another letter to the fans?
Maybe they all put a number 10 sticker on their helmets. Solidarity!
I wonder if this started out as a blackmail attempt and then they went public when he wouldn’t pay up. It may have also included a thinly veiled threat against his family and that it what has gotten him upset now. They went through with the first part of the threat and he is trying to make sure they don’t harm his family. Was it Mogilny who was blackmailed years ago? Could this be out of the same playbook?
Norm: ‘Losing Mum and Pup.’ Stamford? I Forget. Always saw Christopher as a dilettante self-promoter. Yes, Jim was then a bright light, more action than verbiage, the way it should be.
Re: Artemi – Absolutely shocking to look around the world these days and to see how many leaders are illegitimate power-hungry, evil charlatans wh cnnived their way into prominence. Was it always this way? I think I was brought up to be uber naive and only recently see things as they are, where ignorant armies march by night.
‘Sophocles long ago
Heard it on the Ægean, and it brought
Into his mind the turbid ebb and flow
Of human misery; we
Find also in the sound a thought,
Hearing it by this distant northern sea.
The Sea of Faith
Was once, too, at the full, and round earth’s shore
Lay like the folds of a bright girdle furled.
But now I only hear
Its melancholy, long, withdrawing roar,
Retreating, to the breath
Of the night-wind, down the vast edges drear
And naked shingles of the world.
Ah, love, let us be true
To one another! for the world, which seems
To lie before us like a land of dreams,
So various, so beautiful, so new,
Hath really neither joy, nor love, nor light,
Nor certitude, nor peace, nor help for pain;
And we are here as on a darkling plain
Swept with confused alarms of struggle and flight,
Where ignorant armies clash by night.’
Matthew Arnold, ‘Dover Beach’ 1851
On the other hand, who wants pie?
coos
Apple please.
When you think about it, we are truly an extraordinary Nation. We are quick to forgive and forget. Other Countries hold grudges for THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of years.
There’s a line that fans have to respect between athlete/member of the team you love and the human being with just as many rights as you.
I wonder how many of you would be willing to accept someone telling you “shut up and do your job” when you voice something that concerns you or that you’re passionate about.
Relieved to hear about Kakko. false positives (and false negatives for that matter) have been all too common during the last year of this mess.
This 105-Year-Old Beat Covid. She Credits Gin-Soaked Raisins.
Lucia DeClerck, the oldest resident of her New Jersey nursing home, tested positive for the virus on her 105th birthday, one day after her second vaccine shot.
James – some believe those first amendment rights are only for opinions are aligned with their own…
They should teach constitutional law in middle school
…and ethics. …and not to mix bleach and ammonia.
SN, I like hearing those stories. We had a woman here in rehab last May who celebrated her 102nd birthday (and mother’s day) after surviving covid.
You don’t always hear the good stories in all of this. Especially from the nursing homes (where my own mother recently passed from covid)
John Lennon was walking through Central Park with the wrestler Chance Prophet, when he found a Kit Kat in his jacket pocket. The proper thing to do would be to give Chance a piece.
Or a nice bottle of MacCallan scotch with a bottle of Sutter Home wine, Coos…
Those damned Sutters are everywhere. 🙂
My condolences on your mother’s passing. COVID has wreaked havoc on the elderly, gin soaked raisins notwithstanding.
James
Very sorry about your mom
God bless her and the rest of your family
Prayer for your Mom, James.
James,
Well….. In my line of work, I have to be extremely careful with political opinions. Sure, I’m just a Meteorologist… but, I work for a news operation and therefore my opinion would by default be interpreted as theirs in the court of public opinion. There have been SO many times I wanted to rip off a tweet or fb post expressing how I felt about what’s transpired over the last several years… but, I have to sit on my hands in order to keep my job. Bottom line is, I have a family to take care of…. That’s my number 1 priority.
Thank you guys.
James,
So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.
This whole thing just sucks. May the infinite amount of memories you’ve created with her always bring a smile to your face.
Sorry for your loss James
Ditto to the above condolences James.
Thoughts with you and your family.
lol bobbyo got it.

James condolences to you and your family.
Coos:
1. Please, one slice of cherry pie.
2. We are a success if we teach the kids not to eat the Tide pods.
Sorry to hear about your mother, James. It has been a truly horrible year.
I don’t follow these guys all to closely on FB, Twitter, Parler(!) etc but AFAIK Panarin was not really what I would call an ‘outspoken’ critic. He gave an interview last year? Two years ago? that was mildly critical of Putin and his most recent was showing support for those who have been mysteriously poisoned.
Was it the case he was out there frequently attacking the PuttyPuss?
James
Very sorry for your loss I understand the grief you are going through. Losing a parent is never easy. Prayers to you and your family.
…or the large urinal mints, Beez…
Tide pod pie could be a generational desert!
James – please accept my condolences on the loss of your Mom. I wish strength and peace for you and your family.
Again thank you, all. We’ve had a little time to deal with it now. still sucks. Like I said, it’s nice to hear some of the good stories as infrequent as they may be out there in the news.
Anyone got a lineup for tonight?
Sincere condolences James.
Saw a comment earlier about how the last 12 months have carried more off ice news than the previous 5 years for this organization.
1-Car accident in Brooklyn with Igor and Buch.
2-Zoom incident with K’Andre
3-Tony D’s twitter incident
4-Tony D removed from the team
5-Zika w/ Covid-19
6-Panarin’s current situation
What happened to the good old days of firing the coaches and asking what their assistants do?!
Although looking at that again- Tony D being waived is a hockey move regardless of the stuff tied to it. Hank’s heart surgery post buyout should be on there too.
Henk waiting for the buyout when he had an known existing heart condition…left a sour taste.
Remember the good old days when Dam Boil wanted to beat up Brooksie…
My condolences James.
Sorry for your loss James.
Good option for back up goalie next season? ; )
https://www.tsn.ca/henrik-lundqvist-tweets-video-working-in-full-gear-for-first-time-since-heart-surgery-1.1597674
Going out on a limb here but that HL video… his doctors must be like ‘Mr. Lundqvist, we’d prefer you not do those types of things yet…’
I’m happy for Hank. It makes me a little nervous, but his heart’s probably in better condition than the last time he played.
Tiger Woods in surgery after rolling his SUV at 7AM. AFAIK, he was not driving down my road but instead was in sunny, warm LA.
I wonder if that was his first time on the ice. Strapping on 30 lbs. of equipment seems like pushing it a bit for the first day.
James, sorry for your loss.
My mom’s cousin died from COVID, only a few years removed from retirement. Her son, 45, on a ventilator with COVID at the time never knew she passed, was taken a few days later. Survived by his sister…shocking losses for her to manage in less than a week. I have a very scientific mind, but I truly hope they are together right now.
That’s awful gravy. RIP
Sorry for your loss James, condolences to you and your family.
Oh snap!
Quinn talks a good game!
Again, thank you gents.
Gravy I’m really sorry to hear that story. Too many like them in the last year..
Is Kreider shrinking or am I developing cataracts?
coos
Possibly both, but he does look a step slower?
So Tiger hooked his first drive this morning and wound up in the rough. Too soon?
Quinn does talk a good game. If I could get anything to post on here other than text I would post a link to the Chiffons singing “Sweet Talking Guy.”
Very sorry to hear as well James.
where is the confirmation about Kakko?
Newest from LB
https://nypost.com/2021/02/23/key-questions-regarding-rangers-artemi-panarin-situation/
Tiger’s latest girlfriend told him, “I have to be honest with you, babe. I’m a hooker.”
Tiger: “Not a problem You just have your right thumb too far forward on the shaft.”
My mistake. I misread this article from the Post where Walker was referring to Kakko’s first stint with Covid when he had a false positive test. Sorry for the confusion, folks.
ah gotcha Ilb.
Practice line from today gonna need a shutout Wed.
Laf – Mika – Buch
Kreider – Strome – Blackwell
Lemieux – Howden – Gauthier
PDG – Rooney – Brodzinski
Lindgren – Fox
Miller – Smith
Bitetto – Hájek
James, I just get back from the funeral of my very close friend of 55 years and learned about your Mom. What a grief ! My deepest condolences for your loss. Heart goes out for you and family. Just try to keep your mind and yourself busy with something – it helps a little.
Condolences 4ever.
55 years is remarkable and says the whole story.
Very sorry to hear, 4Ever. I appreciate the kind words.
Sorry to hear this 4ever hang in there!
Sorry 4ever.
Different stories about how long Panarin is going to out for, but if it is going to be two weeks, wouldn’t it be a good idea to get a look at someone like Barron? Instead of Johnny B? I know it’s not the ranger way.
They have won two straight. The D is improved, to say the least, and yet to me it feels like the season is close to getting away from them. They play 8 games in the two weeks that Panarinmis rumored to be out for.
The Habs fired Julien. Maybe we can trade them Quinn. I hear he’s great with young players.
Bdl
We will see what they’re made but in reality the season may well be over after the 2 weeks and 8 games. Why would Quinn take a look at Barron when he has a journeyman horse like Brodzinski to go to?
Habs were the darlings of the NHL a month ago, what happened?? Reality bites…
It is not DQ’s call who comes up but he will need to answer to the media while Pizza Boy hides in the shadows.
Habs got tired of playing defense
I guess listing a couple times to Ottawa will get you whacked. Too bad for Julien that Carey Price is quickly deteriorating.
Healthiest part of Carey Price is his bank account.
Carey Price is the greatest goaltender ever. Just ask the Canadien media, they will tell you.
I drove to Montreal years ago and got turned around in the city because all of the road signs are in French (obviously)
I finally found a gas station with an attendant who spoke some English. So I say “excuse me, sir. Could you tell me the quickest way out of the city?”
He says “Coach the Habs for a few years without making the playoffs”….
NY Post: “As many as four of Panarin’s teammates on that Vityaz squad have told The Post they had never heard of his involvement in a physical altercation.”
Does that mean one? Two? Three? Four? Coos, please school that dreadful writer.
No interest in Julien, thanks.
Remember when NYR had 3 players on the Calder watch list….
https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2118948
Shouldn’t Miller be on watch list
Rolex is on the Watch List.
Dmen are only recognized if they score a lot in the upside down world of NHL awards…
This was just top 5. Would argue Shesty still very much in mix. Laffy, not so much
Danny DeVito assigned to the taxi squad.
So who gets 3rd letter tonight with Trouba and bread out
Fox?
Strome?
Alex-I’d go Fox, but my money is on Quinn to pick Strome. (Maybe it will up his trade value?)
Howden wears the letter if it is up to Gorts…
Dave Maloney had mentioned Howden and Lindgren as possible letter candidates at some point.
Give the C to Captain Happy?
Canadiens looking to the Rangers as a role-model franchise. Fire a proven, successful coach in the conversation for HOF, and hire an unproven Hockey East guy. Should work out–the college guys usually do.
SN and Coos,
Do you guys ever have a random craving for Tung Hoy? I’m talking about next door to Home Fair video era. not rats in the dining room era..
So the 10th best team in the NHL fires the coach while the 25th best team in the NHL says about their coach “This is our guy!”
Norm would that be the regular season HOF?
James – I don’t eat kitten/rice but my kids grew up on dollar chicken/rice at new China on Larchmont Ave. and Golden Rod on Post Rd was the family fav.
Then again, I am a transplant from Rock-n-Roll County; the other side of the river…
I never went into Golden Rod. Probably one of like 3 places in the area I never stepped foot in.
New China on the other hand…well, let’s just say I could have listed it as a food group in my early 20s
Beezle, Julien and AV have taken teams to 2 finals each and aren’t done yet, which is why they’re in the conversation. Neither would get in today. Personally, I’m not an absolutist on Cup wins given how many coaches have gotten their hands on it by virtue of having superstar players and/or hot goalies.
4ever. Sorry to hear of that heartbreak story.
Cannot understand why Barron doesn’t get a cup of coffee with this opportunity
Then again it’s the same team that sits gautier for long stretches but forces minutes onto howden
Also. Diguseppie skated well to start? But numbers wise. When team is healthy, not sure he is better than Goat Boy.
The ‘kid’ called up is their leading scorer so rewarding play which is not a bad thing.
They don’t want to bring up The Red Barron and watch him skates circles around Howdy Doody
KAM on COVID list? This season is starting to suck almost as much as them not playing.
Yup, that’s the latest news, ORF. Johnson in.
Ilb said johnson in!
Coos nice job with GME this afternoon!
Does Quinn speak French?
If you don’t speak French, Montreal doesn’t want you. If you speak Boston Irish, they want you even less.
NEW POST
What’s a GME?
