Free agency starts at noon. Traditionally, this post appears on our blog on July 1st. But “traditionally” doesn’t apply to anything when it comes to 2020.
I do not know what to expect today. Gorton and JD were pretty clear there will be no big money signings. Good news, they really aren’t looking for anyone who may ask for big money. But there will be some bargains this year around the league, and there will be some players left without home when it all settles.
I think teams with a good plan, patience, and good understanding of salary cap will come on top. Let’s hope the Rangers is one of them. They have needs and holes to fill. They have plenty of time to do it before January 1st. Or so…
But they can try today.

I don’t know that he’s better than Smith. I can tell you Quinn will probably stick him on the first pair.
ILB that remains to be seen. At the end of the day it’s another place holder and it’s only for a year. A lot of people here are going to be belly aching for the next 82+ games.

Pretty much what was to be expected. This will be a growth year for the youths and they don’t have a lot of cap to work with, They did bring in a Johnson to plug a hole in their D though. Rimshot?

Well the D will be more physical this year one way or the other.
Today has made 2 things very clear.
1. They’re going to commit to place holders and allow some of the kids to develop in Hartford. Most likely give the kids a chance to earn their way up through out the year.
2. They’re keeping cap space open for Eichel or another big ticket center. They aren’t going to risk having more bad contracts to deal with when it comes time to absorb that contract and or re-up with Mika.
