Good morning, boneheads!
That was a great game to watch, was it not? I will admit, I had my doubts the league will be able to pull this off. Kudos to everyone involved, we are all treated to some outstanding hockey.
Islanders fan, anyone? It’s a devastating loss if you are. They brought their best game. Running on all cylinders. Get a goal from the fourth line and dominating throughout. Get a 5 min PP, and Tampa loses one of their 11 forwards. Later on Tampa Bay loses their Conn Smythe candidate and has to play without Brayden Point for the rest of the game. And then you lose with 9 seconds to go and you are now in a big 2-0 hole. So, Islanders fan, anyone? Not me, but still….ouch
So how did Tampa Bay do it? They got a Vezina type performance from their Vezina winner goaltender, and two goals from their two elite players/game breakers. McDonagh pass was a thing of beauty too.
What happens to Brayden Point is crucial going forward though. I think they get through the Islanders without him. I am not convince they win the Cup if he can’t go.
One game on the schedule tonight:
Golden Knights (1) vs Stars (1), 8 PM start, TV-NBCSN
Not sure if you are following Pronman’s organizational rankings for 20-21, but he is now down to number 3 (Canucks), and only 2 teams remain, including the Rangers. They were number 1 last year.

I keep correcting my own grammar. Proofread it next time, ilb. Dammit!
Since author comment doesn’t count, can I be first again? Double sweet (1st – Isles last seconds lost).
McD has been very good all playoffs; would look great next to Tuba…good thing Hayek is able to slide in next to him
Brayden Point’s availability aside; is there any concern the Fishsticks were allowed to dictate the style of play to their likeness?
AA,
And still lost.
Concern? Yes, if you’re Trotz. They were able to dictate their style of play and are still down 0-2. No doubt Lightning will adjust. It’s far from over, but winning four out of five is not something I’d bet on.
Vibing, BDL? I may need more coffee. 🙂
Islanders potent offense on display once again. Big NO on Andy Greene, that horrendous turnover at the end of the game is not an anomaly.
The Athletic calling for Fishsticks to sign Torey Krug…. then decide “where to have the parade.”
Torey Krug my foot. Barzal needs a new contract. So do Pulock and Toews.

Watching NBCSN is like watching an islander love fest. The piles need to change their name to the this; the “NY Interference.”
What are you talking about, Wicky? 🙂
Lol James!
I have zero problem with interference in hockey. If you’re skilled enough you’ll get around it or if you’re strong enough you’ll get through it.
Either way, it’s better imo than the silly rules today that have every 4th liner trying to look like a goal scorer.
Oh nuthin’ ilb
Matt Martin had to stop running around after he had his butt handed to him by Luke Schenn, of all people. Had he continued, he would have to also dance with Maroon, Goodrow, Paquette, Cernak, and Bogosian. One of many reasons Lightning is different this year.
Tampa has enough fire power without Point to take 2 of the next 5 if it came down to it.
That must have been very disheartening for the islanders. I love it.
Wicky
I never said I did or didn’t have a problem with interference, I just suggested a name change.
I must say that Boomer’s son in law is having a very good playoff. I sure enjoyed that game…..well…..the ending of it anyway. I am not a big Tampa supporter but I am when they play against Uniondale.
Interference is in the rule book. Either call it or take it out. Maybe make it like LAX and require the picks to be stationary. It would take some courage to set one of those picks on somebody like Reaves.
Does Pronman have the Devils and Rangers rated 1 and 2(in no particular order)? Does the Rangers rating include Laffy since they haven’t picked him yet?
If any of yous that have kids who are fans of Halloween and are interested in info on the yearly “haunted attractions” in upstate NY, we found out this morning that the headless horseman hayrides in Ulster will be open with drive through “hayrides” and socially distanced haunted house attractions.
Headless Horseman. Not to be confused with Barry Trotz’s new haunted attraction “the neckless fisherman”
Hedman playoff MVP so far
Horseless Hedman?
So 11 years after, the way it looks now, what would be your number one choice, Tavares or Hedman?
ilb
Is that a trick question?
Not really, St. Pete. Just curious. I’m very happy with what the Rangers got that year. Kreider at 19. Can’t complain.
ilb
I was trying to be funny with the question because to me it’s obvious now, definitely Hedman. But If I was the GM with the 1st pick I probably would have taken Tavares.
Taveres has never scored less than 24 goals and those were in his rookie year and another season where he was limited to 59 games.
Rangers fans love giving him the meat grinder treatment for the same reason Hank critics love giving Hank the meat grinder treatment.
Give me a top 6 center that can score at least 60 points a year any day. Plus, think of the entertainment value of convos between SN and I if we had Zika and JT on the same team lol
James loves points, not Stanley Cups, let alone playoff series wins…
Can’t go wrong with Hed or JT.
Piles wish they had either one right now.
Sounds like the Pens are going to trade Matt Murray. Not surprising considering his performance this past year. Puts a nice dent in my argument for goalie tandems.
He does make about 4 million a season. That’s a lot of cash for a cap strapped team and a goalie who is often injured and sported an .899 sv % this season…
LOL SN. JT has 30 points in 36 post season games in his career. Weren’t you just praising Miller for having 40-something in almost 80 games?
This must be another one of those things that inquire your special and very personal insight on wall battles and how Nate MacKinnon is the only real center in the NHL.
1. I don’t believe any one individual wins or loses a playoff series.
2. Tavares is hardly a player I’d say I like. But at the same time his playoff appearances have been on some very very flawed teams that weren’t cut out for the post season. Add him to the right mix (where he doesn’t have to be the grinding center I assume people would prefer to see him be) and he’s just as valuable as Brayden Point or any center who isn’t overly physical or affected by the lack of space come post season time.
JT would make a nice 2C on the Rangers.
Taveras has never been asked to be anything but a scorer. That’s why he’s not in the same breath as Crosby and other centers. Taveras is only valuable from the O blue line in.
Speaking of first overalls. Think the Devils would like a do over on Hirscher?
challenge is sinking a chunk of your finite cap into players who are not playoff performers; not just talking about secondary PP assists; but play the whole rink.
Disliking Jon Cooper beaucoup, starting (but not ending) with the chi-chi spelling of his first name.
My Islander/Confederate friend was moaning on Tues night phone call that he told his son back then that they screwed up by not taking Hedman….
Mean while recently demoted Ensign Kirk with 9pts, +10 and 19:09 toi this playoffs. The TOI is heavily influenced by the CBJ ot game. Scoring per 60 (5v5) he is 1.46, #9 of those with at least 5 games. Starfleet may consider promotion after season.
Coos.. his name is Jonathan. A lot to dislike about him but can’t hold a grudge over the name!
Jonathan is even worse.
A sad day.. in memory
I don’t think the answer is that easy, at least in my mind. Two things to remember. That season Eric Christensen was the Rangers top 6 center. Two, there is more than 300 points and over 200 goals difference between them. So, yeah, I think I’d still take Tavares at #1
Cake – love those guys
It is not Jon Cooper up here……..it is Squirrely Bowman. Please behave accordingly.
lol TYM .. I wonder if there is any relation? https://www.wikitree.com/photo/jpg/Bowman-2081
LOL- “The Neckless Fisherman”.
Buck Neck-ed
I’d pick Tavares but only if he was then moved to left defence.
It’s important to play all very good players at positions other than their best one.

Merry Christmas happy birthday
Truthfully, that is more intentional goalie inference by stone than most goalie inference calls. He totally locked his skate into the inside of khudobin’s pad.
BUT khudobin didn’t play the puck, he chose to like a basketball player allow contact to be made to get a free goalie inference call instead of stretching to get to the post.
He’s hurt
Hey what do you guys know about Jonathans. Coincidentally enough, I met a post office worker today, his name was Matthew. I go Matthew is a good name, that’s my middle name. He goes oh yeah it is a good name, it means gift from god. Which struck me as funny bc I’ve been told multiple times that the name Jonathan means gift from god.
So as he is scanning all my packages in, I look up the meaning. And it says the meaning is god has given or gift from god. He goes wow both names your mom gave you means gift from god.
I go, ‘I think I’m more ‘god has given’ than I am ‘gift from god’
Great shot by Radulov
That was great shot.
Wasn’t great positioning by the goalie
Radulov with the messier
Looks like an indoor lacrosse goalie with those pads
Radulov and Khudobin – Russian Stars shine bright.
“Islanders fans are in SHAMBLES after watching their team lose in the last second to the Lightning” LMFAO! Loved that video! Guy’s t-shirt says “team of destiny” makes it even more hilarious! and then he kills the guy with a chair hahah

Top of the morning to ya, BDL!
SN- you like to sneak that line about secondary assists in to discredit any and every player you gripe about.
36 career playoff games for Tavares. 15 goals and 15 assists.
So let’s split hairs. Even if 7 of his Assists were secondary thats 15 goals and 8 primary assists over 36 playoff games.
Prorate that over an 82 game regular season and you’re at about 34 goals 18 assists. Not great but certainly not a poor showing for a center in this league.
Once again it just proves that your issue is based on wanting centers to have certain qualities and they supersede production.
I mean at what point does it end in your mind?
100 points? 120? Can a 120 point center not be a good center because he doesn’t morph into Mark Messier away from the puck?
The point is that ‘points’ are good but just one production variable. Pajama boy is an elite offensive player; the type that Usually do not produce at the same clip in playoffs so you need to show up in other areas of the game to help THE TEAM win.

Funny video — there’s the entitlement: the blatant disbelief that the “Team of Destiny” actually could lose to the best team in hockey.

Aww! It will be Ok piles you still can be a team of destitute!
Every New Yorker has their own story for this, so sadly special, day. Of course, I have more than few – it hit my family too close… But today I would like to say that despite of immeasurable, everlasting damage of lost and distorted people lives the life itself, I, over devastating bitterness and desperation, want to remember also, the immense feeling of pride with the people in this apocalyptic event and incredible sense of unity with my fellow citizens, so needed in our uneasy times. Let’s REMEMBER that today – September, 11!
Never forget!
I gotcha man. 15 goals in 35 games is a good start to helping teams win if they have the right mix.
Certainly not Top of the list as far as complete players though.
That said I take him #1 with Kreider at 19. That’s pretty well balanced draft
The most remarkable aspect of 9/11 is that we endured and healed as a nation. Stuck together to push through a dark period in this wonderful country’s history.
Would be great if we could do that again and soon.

By the way it’s an f-n joke that Cassidy best out Torts for coach of the year. Even AV would have been a better choice.
The Arizona Coyotes are looking to slash about $10 million in payroll, don’t have a pick in the first three rounds this year, no first round pick next year, and recently missed bonus payments to a bunch of players.
Talk about a dumpster fire…it’s not a big deal not having the picks IF you’re in win now mode and understand as an organization that you will suffer at some point in the future. But they’re not close to that and are cutting payroll and are missing bonuses and….etc etc

James- the writers choose coach of the year.

Fast for Stepan.
Complete crap, Tom.
Damn Wicky. I didn’t realize how screwed AZ was. I guess that’s what happens when you just start collecting high price vets other teams don’t want to pay anymore.
Lmfao @ Nils 4 and Lindgren 12.
Watch Khodorenko turn out to be better than any other center prospect in the organization
Much like Tony deangelo two training camps ago, I’m not trading Brendan Lemieux until I see Him play a full season. That kid has had so many stops and starts and has never found a home on a line yet. But he’s the kind of player when the support around him gets better, when he’s part of a more complete lineup, i think the guy Settles into a very valuable role.
Kid needs to stay on the lineup, on the bench, and the ice. That means stay healthy and stay out of the box. If there’s one thing that annoys me about pepes impact on games, I felt a lot of the times during the regular season, he could be a flow disruptor for our own team. He gotta learn to play as part of a line, and he’s gotta quit taking himself out of the flow of the game by ending up in the penalty box for a trivia play. If your taking somebody with you and it’s a good trade off, I get it. But man unless you know it’s a situation where there’s Gonna be matching minors. Stay the hell out of the box.
Pepes in danger of never really getting a chance to become the player he’sCapable of being (with the rangers) bc he hasn’t learned to play within a team concept. It’s like he’s out there trying to do everything himself to show his worth. He’s not skilled enough to succeed that way. He needs to work with his line mates if he’s gonna carve out a long term role here
I hope he can. There’s no better place for a player like him to succeed and be loved by a fan base than the rangers
Except maybe say…. Montreal
