Carolina is building off the great year last year. They are 3 years ahead of the Rangers, building off the draft. Drafting from the top of the heap.
Clearly they’ve added the right pieces to make a difference. They look like they can win some playoff games. our team not so much.
All three teams that I follow have made me a bigger Yankee fan.

Fox seems on over his head in these games. Not that surprising, but, he had slid in so smoothly in the regular season.
The scary thing is that as mad as some of the people here are at Lundqvist, it doesn’t matter if our offense is practically nonexistent.

Question, Shesterkin was the number one when the pause hit. When Shesterkin has the car accident, Georgiev played most of the games. My question is, why the heck are the Rangers playing their number 3 goalie?

Part of the offensive woes are their inability to keep the puck in that zone. Too often nobody back to keep puck in, too many blind passes to Mr. Nowhere.
I’m so disappointed, that I spend more time reading posts here than watching the game.

Rangers had a good season for 7 rookies playing big time minutes. Think about it they could still be playing in college.
It was a good year to build off of. None of us thought we were winning the cup this year, it they would have made the top 8, it would have been a win.
Beezle – nice sticker. Orientating a regular octagon into a two holed torus, step by step, was one of the most difficult math problems ( really a set of drawings, but still) I’ve ever worked on….
BDL if you take it from the point of view of carp or Brooks Georgiev didnt “have a good camp” compared to hank.
Meanwhile Quinn contradicts himself yet again and says he won’t treat the “mini camp” like a camp and the guys that were doing their jobs will get their usual roles. He just forgot to say except Georgiev”
I personally am not putting to much into this result. Teams that play with structure have an advantage over teams that don’t. The Rangers are young and disorganized. They play a frantic style of play when successful, and are easily shutdown by teams that play with structure.

And in light of all this I now have serious doubts about Shesterkin having the ability to be the next franchise goalie. In a five month span he’s already left them in a bad spot thanks to unforeseen circumstances.

I feel bad for Henrik…….him having to go out this way. The Rangers being completely outplayed in the 3rd period has me irritated at the lack of leadership on the club. Losing is one thing. Surrendering is another. What I will remember about this series is Brady SkjeiL outplaying all of the Rangers defensemen. They are not read6 for prime time. That is OK, just tough to watch.
Either Georgie or Shesty tomorrow night. They played him with a broken rib in February. I wonder what’s wrong with him now. Recall that the regular season games were like this. Hank just stole them.

James: Where was the leadership? Completely vacant in this series. Where were our 2 prospective captains? They have had their lunch handed to them, especially today after the first period. Is their a talent gap between these 2 teams, yes, of course. Henrik did not decide to name himself as the starter, the coach did. The sad thing is that Henrik will be a hall of famer and #30 will hang from the rafters, but in the biggest series’ of his career he was outplayed by others. Including this series which is the least of them other than being his swan song.

Mika has had a few moments but not the same as BC time (before Covid). THE is simply AWOL. Panerin, I’ll be honest, seems a bit disinterested. Strome’s made a play here and there but again, not the same as BC.

Hank has one win in 2020 (vs. Detroit). His save % in the losses – .862. .828 .733 and .808. Not to blame for the losses but those early goals are killers. Need to play another goalie in game three. Odds are good – teams down 0-2 are 1-55.

None of us here can say whether the rangers deserved to be in the playoffs or not because the season paused and the rangers were in the mix. Maybe they go 0-10 or 10-0 the rest of the way.
Regardless, the organization clearly wanted them to be a playoff contending team this year (not cup contenders) and that’s what they are. They have holes in the roster and some big offseason decisions to make re personnel.
Now, on to game 3 and lets win there!

I don’t like to talk about it. Bc giving it the weight it actually has makes the games feel more crapshootie than ever.
But scoring the first goal can change everything about a 1st period. Which can change everything about the 2nd period. Which can land you playing chase in the 3rd period.
So how much of what we see and what plays out is due to a lucky goal in the opening minutes of a game. Cuz a lot of teams get a lead and shift their systems to clog/trap stuff. And suck time off the clock.
Canes were more than content to allow the rangers to burn energy for puck possession only to be taking shots directly into mzareks glove or gut.
Why do rangers always go for the short side instead of blasting a hard low shot off the goalies pads for a juicy rebound like valley-cat mentioned
It’s not that Hank gives up the first goal vs opponents, it’s that it happened a lot this year within 4 minutes and often on the first or second shot…
CCCP: Trouba has often been underwhelming this season, rarely exceptional. Hope that changes starting next season.
JPP: Scoring on rebounds would require a player(s) in a position to put in the rebound. Its not often they have anyone around the net (not necessarily on top of the goalie).
Tuba has been fine in this series, IMHO. A lot of the bigger guys are just gassed in the 2nd half of the game; team def needs to score early. Off for 4 months and then PO hockey. Can’t get in game shape on the Peloton.
I wonder if they won or not. (just keeping it interesting for ilb’s game tape during dinner)

I’ve cooled off a bit now about the goalie thing.
Fact of the matter is as well as they played on that hot streak through February, this team was never a playoff team. That’s something that needed to be addressed in the off-season and still does.
Top six RW. Face off specialist. Another physical Dman.

Mika and the Breadman had incredible seasons that papered over some of their shortcomings that still need to be addressed. The coming season is likely to be see the roster change little because of the cap situation. Hopefully some of the young player up their games and they improve. If not they will be treading water. We will have to manage our expectations.
