I found this article in the Athletic by Shayna Goldman. I think it’s interesting to see how someone approaches this situation using statistics. The bottom line is the same, though. She believes Georgiev gets traded.

Yes, chances are it’s Georgiev that gets traded. The question is when does Gorton play his hand.

Greetings from Rangers practice, where Kaapo Kakko is back on the 3rd line, it seems.

One thing I have disagreed with James and others on is, that trading Georgiev is about Hank. It’s not. This is about an asset, and how best to utilize the asset. Everything has to be taken in to account. Do you believe Shesterkin is going to be better? Who provides the best value? When is that? During the season, or the offseason? Going beyond this summer would be a mistake. It should be Shesterkin and Hank come October of 20/20, then Shesterkin and whoever after that.

PP units were the same today, except Panarin was back on his strong side circle and Mika was on the other. Kakko back in the slot. (Not on LH hand circle.)
PP1- Tony D, Panarin, Mika, Kakko and Kreider
PP2- Fox, Trouba, Strome, Lemieux with Buch and Chytil rotating
I trashed my own post so you could be first, BDL 🙂
Honestly BDL, I’ve never thought your approach to the whole thing is wrong I think we just disagree about the risk-reward ratio. The market value for goalies really is slim pickings and has been for a while now. I don’t think it’s impossible to get a good haul in the right situation, I just remain skeptical that it’s likely.
Obviously I’d much rather see the two youngsters share the crease so that the answers to your questions aren’t rushed.
If that doesn’t happen my hope is that it isn’t because they feel some need to give Hank a proper send off.
ps- you’re right and wrong regarding time frame. draft/summer may be the opportune time to attempt a respectable trade but you create a scenario where Shesterkin is here with Hank and hasn’t played NHL minutes yet (aside from this year if he comes up at some point). What happens if he struggles? What happens if he struggles and all you’ve gotten for Georgiev is peanuts and a spare puck? I think that scenario is a lot scarier than not getting a deal done by mid summer if they decide they want to deal him..
Georgie in net vs Leaves
The Legend back in the top 6, truly dynamic!
While you should always consider “what happens if”, you should not be afraid of it. I’ll give you another what happens if, and it is best case scenario/worst cast scenario. What happens if you keep both, and both are real good. Can’t pay them both. One has to go, and everybody knows it. Value is kaput.
Ilb I went with your selection. Norm’s was crazy money. I saved the crazy money for bottle of 2008 Dom P for NYE celebration, at least I’m getting some of that!
Minx, we hit +6 at 1pm. Back on a 4 handle now. Feeling wamer?
That Athletic article was a lol. First with “If Lundqvist were to leave the Rangers, it would have to be his decision. As it stands, that doesn’t appear to be the plan, keeping him in the blue paint in New York.” Hmmm… buyout?
And then this gem: “However, Weekes noted, while the big picture has to be considered, he’s a firm believer in taking the best deal on the table, without question.”
Because well, any deal is better than no deal, right Monty?
Beezle, i can tell the difference between simple chianti and expensive Brunello ( both made from the same grape variety) in a second. But I couldn’t tell the difference between Dom P and Prosecco.
Beezle
+ 6 Love it, I hate Florida but family comes first!
BDL, I do not know if they believe for sure Shesterkin will be better. I do not think they can say this for sure. Even if there is a chance Georgiev will be marginally better, it can not preclude them from trading Georgiev. So long as they believe both can be solid starters to replace Hank, they should do it because Georgiev at the moment has a better trade value. He is a better asset.
BDL your monetar argument doesn’t hold water. Buyout HL first. Georgie has 4 years of RFA. Shesterkin has the remainder of his ELC and then two years more as RFA. If they are both stars and splitting 60/40 55/45, great. Is Georige making.. 4.5 per? 5? Is Shesterkin making.. 2? 2.5? Are still well ahead of 8.5 per cap hit? At some point you are right, you’ll need to pick one. And anyone needing a goalie will be camped out front of MSG in line to bid.
BDL, if you keep both, and both are real good maybe a small market team can’t pay them both. This is NY. If they decided they didn’t WANT to pay them both then that’s a different story and there isn’t the type of risk you’re referring to. Georgiev has 4 years of RFA remaining. It’s not like time isn’t on their side.
At the moment not only is the price for goalies questionable, but Georgiev has less than 100 games of NHL experience.
You’d be trading him to get rid of him more than you’d be trading him to address a need. Again – all my opinions but it’s worth considering.
JamesG- all good points. Except there could be teams that believe they’re getting a starter for the future in Georgiev.
I would never trade Georgiev just to get rid of him. Of the 3, the only one I would trade just to get rid of is Hank. I don’t mean that in a derogatory way.
Paying goalies is similar to paying QBs. You want a goalie on his ELC, so you can put the cap money into building the team around him.
Hey friends just wanna say I’ll be around more in the coming weeks to talk shop and catch up with everyone. My pc is down and need to hook my phone back up. I’m using my Xbox for internet and its slower than freeze dried dog crap crawling up a telephone pole backwards in February. Have a merry Christmas, Hanaukka,Kwanza,Ramadan and Festivus if I don’t talk to you fine people beforehand!!! LGR!!!

Will do!
Just what Georgie needs, a little more pressure!
If multiple teams are searching for a cost controlled starter at the draft maybe one who has an extra late first rounder gives that for Georgie, but otherwise you are looking at a 2nd and a decent prospect or maybe if we are lucky a youngish NHLer if that team has a surplus at a given position. Proven NHL starters haven’t brought back a ton in recent deals, so guys like Georgie (like talbot before him) will bring back less.
We impeaching the King after every lost game, but, as we know , it doesn’t mean that he will be removed from office. Unfortunately. There are forces which always overcome fans’ desire.
Georgiev the obvious trade bait, but has it somewhat in his control to change that view. He’d need to go nuts, mind you.
It would be great to offer Hank some nice job at the Rangers’ office/organization. Something like “wedding general” or “Face of Rangers” caliber, with decent salary and high human touch for PR.
ILB –
To your point earlier, I have little doubt that a team would be acquiring Georgiev as their starter but that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’ll pay a premium considering the going rate for goalies.
Now I obviously have no way to say he’ll bring back this or that.
My guess is that even if he does bring back a bottom six guy that sticks, it would still be a trade they lose.
In that scenario they’re essentially trading away their own starting goalie of the future for a 3rd or 4th liner.
Really the point is this- as of now its likely that the only way to maximize Georgievs value is to keep him and play him.
He has 4 years left of rfa and the Rangers have quite a few youngsters up front and on the blueline that still haven’t hit their strides.
How can you trade Georgiev (Or Shesterkin) to address a need when you have guys in the system who may already be the eventual guys filling it?
You may find out your big need after that trade is a starting goalie.,
Not to mention in order to get someone on a higher level than our current prospects- you’d need to offer up more than Georgiev to get them..
You don’t need Georgiev this year, and there’s little point in keeping both him AND Shesty unless you think one of them projects as an inexpensive backup or you plan to go 50:50 and pay both at the same rate, whatever that is.
Norm, I do agree with that. Not advocating having two goalies with big cap hits. Just saying (much as you did when you were responding to my claim that Hank currently ranks 3rd in the organization) that Shesterkin hasn’t played in the NHL yet. He hasn’t felt pressure yet. Hasn’t hit adversity or a slump. We don’t know much about his potential NHL career we just know it looks promising. Georgiev has at least had some time (although not much) to show what he can do at the NHL level.
I don’t believe anything has to be decided now or by the summer.
Good morning, BDL. I turn 26 tomorrow and I’m now too old and too tired to argue so take it easy on me today with round 97 of Trade/Don’t Trade the goalie….
Georgiev will be most likely moved …..Gorton has to maximize return as much as possible…guessing market improves toward deadline especially if there are any injuries to starters. Plenty of goaltending depth in place already and Rangers already have the goalie whisperer so not many concerns there
Bobby, again I think you guys have these fantasies in your heads about the return they’d get for him.
No one has been able to provide us a trade involving a goalie that brought back a respectable return.
Probably because there isn’t one. Explain how you’re maximizing return and getting a piece that’s going to “help” when goalies don’t yield a return?
James due to age and cost think Georgiev would be an attractive piece….think a 2nd rounder definitely possible
LOL oh well if we’re getting a second rounder then sign me up. *thumbs down and a farting noise*
1- Georgiev is required in a package to bring in a star/bonified top 6 center
2- Georgiev is bringing back a true top D man to play beside Trouba for the next 6 years
Those are the only two scenarios that make sense. Otherwise you’re basically trading someone who can help you win a lot of games and become a star in New York for a spare part. We have plenty of prospects that will amount to spare parts OR can be traded for spare parts. Don’t have to trade Georgiev if the organization feels it needs more second round picks.
strong draft coming up James ..sure they want more picks
I agree with James, it needs to be a hockey trade that benefits the team now or in the very near term. If there’s no trade out there that does that then you keep Georgiev.
It’s possible that next year, presumably the first targeted year of competitiveness, with the roster teardown finally complete, sees Lundqvist and Georgiev as its pretty-good tandem. I somehow doubt it, though.
Georgiev-Kreider package time soon?
Norm, Igor will likely need to be playing in the NHL next year or you risk him going back to the KHL, where he can make a ton more money. So they can carry three NHL goalies or they will have to trade one at some point, the obvious one being Georgie. But agree that the best value may be to trade him with kreider, but not a ton of teams who will need a goalie at the deadline. The leafs are one but they don’t have a first rounder this year and couldn’t fit that much cap so we’d have to get a good young roster player back (like Kapanen) and another good piece and likely retain or take back salary.
Good morning, boneheads!
No, I wouldn’t trade Georgiev for a 2nd rounder. They don’t have to trade him, that’s the luxury they have. You wait for your moment and maximize your asset. We have two legit starters for the future, come and get one. If need to, they sign him to a contract. This situation is different from what they had with Raanta and Talbot.
Why is Georgie the obvious one? Why is the obvious one (Hank) not the obvious one?
Hank has a no trade and another year at 8M….he’s not going to retire and why would give up 8M anyway…. also dont see Rangers buying out a HOF player.
Rob – Hank sux. No one wants him and if you were to inject truth serum into JD’s, JG’s, and DQ’s Veins, we’d learn that the rangers wish he’d just go away. Georgie and Shesterkin together playing 1A and 1B.
Hank’s salary is $5.5M next year. $4.5M after he gets a July 1st bonus.
5,5 still not gonna leave that on table
Send Hank to Seattle. His hair will thrive in the weather….
I’m not trading Georgiev for a second rounder. I’d hesitate for a first rounder. I want an NHL ready forward for him. If I can’t get that, I wait till I can.
BDL, and wait is what they can do this time. Gorton is in a good position.
I’m a big no on trading Georgie or Shesterkin. No way trading either brings equal value in terms of talent. Goalies, for whatever reason, just don’t bring equal value….
For a time he is in good position. He cannot over play his hand.
If someone offers 1st rounder you move Georgie
Bobby you show me a a draft that’s so strong that GMs are trading 23 year old goalies with starter potential for second round picks in order to secure the picks and I’ll show you a tall skinny guy interested in trading Georgiev!
you don’t trade Georgie or Shesty for pennies on the dollar.
buyout Henrik this summer.
problem solved.
BDL do you remember when people were saying that about Sakic when he wasn’t trading Duchene? “he needs to lower his demands. He needs to accept less in return. The window to trade Duchene is closing”
He didn’t HAVE to trade him even if he wanted. He sat back and let GM willing to pay the price he wanted in return come knocking.
You keep telling me not to be afraid to make a deal but I think you should follow that same advice and not be afraid to NOT make a trade.
Look at the stuff Bobby and others have been saying- they’d be ok with a 1st or 2nd rounder for this kid. That’s why I’ve had meltdowns on the topic. Not a good move IMHO
I don’t think they’ll buy Hank out. The most outrageous thing I can see them doing is asking him to retire and take an executive position somewhere or to waive his NMC and explain that he will essentially be a third string goalie because the organization needs to move forward.
James if you think they are getting a top center or top pairing defensemen for Georgie or even in a package you’re fooling yourself
Termite asked: ‘Is the goal tender here?’
Maybe it was a moth.
James – I still do not understand bonehead belief that a HL buyout would somehow be a) insulting to HL or b) cause a terrible fan uproar that hurts revenue and/or c) harms the club with future free agents. It is a business decision and everybody knows that.
Is it tear inducing that under current situation HL gets 4.5 salary + 1 bonus = 5.5 total next year vs getting total 4.0 over the next two years? I don’t think there is anything in the CBA that precludes them from offering him a management or broadcast contract for the difference either.
Allaire has been very successful over the years in turning Hank into a veritable magician handling the puck. Not.
Oh I agree with you 1000 percent, Bobby. In fact that’s been my point the ENTIRE time. lol I’d rather keep him and let the scenario play out.
Hank’s agent would like him to go out after another 5 years at $10M per.
Beez, exactly. And it’s another one of these “problems” exclusive to the blog world of Ranger fans. It’s less outrageous to trade Georgiev for “whatever we can get before it’s too late” than it is to say to your 38 year old goalie “listen. We love you. We want you in Ranger blue long after you hang up the pads. But unfortunately your days as the number one goalie here have come and gone and we’d love to have you help in another capacity”…
Do we need to do a welfare check on Minx and his Missus? Is it still below t-shirt weather in his neighborhood?
It’s one thing to say they should buy out/ trade Hank, it’s another to think the organization would do it. I don’t believe they would do it. For those reasons, I’m out.
lol Bdl. Zibanejad: “Dolan is considering a haircut and facial hair ban here like with the Yankees. For those reasons, I’m out.”
BLD – it is not just you who say they won’t But nobody ever gives a why they think mgt won’t do it. What holds them back from doing it? Will HL stare them down? Dolan? The press? Fans?
agree with BDL…don’t see them buying out HOF goalie that has carried franchise for 10 years
they run into problems a year later with Henrik anyway. Not signing him when he’s ufa will be viewed by some as a negative. At least with a buyout he gets lovely parting gifts.
if they foolishly resigned him for 1 or more years they then run into protection problems (unless they dumped Georgie which is a problem in and of itself)
Alex if NYR were to extend HL in anyway I’ll just root for the new franchise going forward as it is a clear indication they are not interested in having a real hockey club and not worthy of hours of my time.
Everyone said A-rod would never walk away from 17 million dollars and would never retire. The organization was proactive in working it out so that he could be happy and the Yankees could move on.
Don’t understand why people are more annoyed by a similar scenario with the Rangers and Hank than the idea of trading a kid who could be a star goalie for a bag of peanuts and a “don’t let the door hit you in the ass as Shesterkin walks through it”
Alex that’s just doom and gloom talk. They aren’t giving Hank a contract extension.
Fanbases and management had much different opinion between Arod and Hank
Right. and management isn’t the same as fans. Gorton isn’t watching all of this goalie stuff from his office going “man I’m such a fan of Hank’s I don’t know what to do about him”
It’s a business.
What would happen in another business if you let a client that was going to make you millions for the next ten years walk away? And you did it for no other reason than you wanted to keep an older client happy since he’d been with you for years? Oh and his business was going under a year from now. Pretty sure you’d lose your job.
Hank wants to play and win the Rangers….he’s made clear he doesnt want to leave and has a no trade….they are not gonna buy out him …he will finish out his contract here.
bobbyo – TB bought out Vinny L and subsequently have retired his number, though he was passed over in first year of HOF eligibility.
James
Henrik and some in fanbase could have other ideas. At least a buyout takes that out of the equation.
Things could end ugly either way (buyout or letting current contract run out).
I agree they should not re-up him.
No one, including Gorton wants to risk getting the Garden’s Potvin treatment ad infinitum: ‘Gorton Sucks!’
Beezle,
Whatever the reason is will not be a good reason. Probably loyalty for what he has done for the organization, and the way he has represented it.
The bummer about this situation is the paltry return goalie trades get these days. The Rangers will never get enough for Georgie in our eyes when they trade him.
https://twitter.com/i/status/1207761923053412352
bobby for a really knowledgeable hockey guy you sure seem to need a dose of reality with this goalie thing. Hank wants to win here? what’s he going to do play another eleven years? Come on.
TYM there’s getting to be too many fantasy trades and notions about the potential return on Georgiev.
For a guy with 4 remaining rfa years people sure seem to think there’s a rush to move him out.
I stand by what I’ve been saying- if you aren’t getting a can’t say no kind of deal then you let it play out.
People here today are saying they can get a second rounder for him. Maybe a first. What’s going to happen if they wait “too long” to trade him? a second rounder becomes a third? oh no! sky is falling! lol
Henrik could always pull a Naslund and retire to relieve the Rangers of his cap hit. Like that would happen. I wonder if he will go back to Sweden to play after his contract is up. I think the guy is truly in love with New York City life.
James: Does the Seattle expansion play into the goalie situation at all? Is there a risk of losing Georgiev in the expansion draft? Admittedly, I know squat about that. Would the Rangers have to protect Henrik due to his NTC?
Kreider by himself is not likely going to bring back what you’d hope for (unless you trade him the night of his no-empty-net hat trick, which a) isn’t likely to occur and b) probably would come too late for GMs to bite on by now). Georgiev by himself is not going to bring back what you need either. Since neither guy is an essential piece moving ahead, package them. Not the only package you could think of, but the Rangers need hockey players now, not draft picks, unless they plan to trade those quickly.
After seeing them twice out here last week, they sure do need some grit and toughness. They have improved their skill significantly. But they were beaten up in LA and Anaheim physically.
Norm,
Most of the hockey insiders (Dregger etc), believe Kreider brings back a first, and a mid level prospect.
Buyout Hank but extend his hair. That coif is worth 80 million over 10 years.
Gotta pay when there’s no grey. Every day that Hank don’t play, looking at that face I’m Turning gay, is that ok, that I say, Hank is prettier than Fay Wray
Boyeeeeeeeeeeeee
…or Jasons Bay or Day, if I may. Okay?
Whatever you say, is in play, every day, if I may, grab a tray, don’t go away Renee….
E3 – No play for Mr. Grey. Famous words said by someone who once was a hero at MSG.
Month of May, mules will bray, Corleone comma Kay, Argues to sway, kneeling to pray, pigs of Bay, layaway, breezy point and Rockaway
Good question, TYM. ILB is the guy to ask on that. I would think they could find a loop hole based on number of games played but to talk about a specific way of doing such would just be speculation on my part.
Beezle – Did She Wear Scarlett Begonias?
James, arod got his full remaining $27m from the yankees and still counted against their luxury tax calculation until the contract ended and he was also pretty reviled when he left (having sued the yankees following his suspension). So the Rangers can tell Hank not to dress, but they aren’t getting him to walk away from that money or cap hit (unless traded somehow)
“You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain”
Norm, how is Georgi ‘not essential’. Becasue of the Russian kid who is doing very well against AHL talent? Not to mention that goalies, like baseball relievers, tend to be streaky? HL is the one who is no longer essential to the future (near and far) of this team. Even if the kid proves the better and Georgie ends up the backup, you’ll have two players at a very low total cost for the next four years and Georgie will still be movable at any time.
However, I do agree – we have enough picks already and picks take time (not in bonehead world) to develop into something measurable as top/bottom/not NHL material.
Plenty of teams have cheesed the cap using LTIR. Maybe Hank and the Rangers can work something out.
IIRC all players with NMC have to be protected?
Gotcha, Pete. But the task at hand in this particular convo is getting Hank off the roster not getting out from under his cap hit.
No play!
LOL Norm you make me laugh. Last week you basically say that Shesty has proven nothing when we are talking about Hank being third best in the organization. Now Shesty is proving that Georgiev is expendable.
Not to use Wicky’s phrase here but I guess it’s whatever fits the narrative?
Joel Lundqvist: “Truth is, Hank became a goalie because he couldn’t skate or handle a puck and he ends up with all the money.”
Georgie would need to be protected in the expansion draft, Igor is exempt and Hank’s contract expiring that July 1 so not counted
Hank is pretty
To add to what Pete has correctly mentioned, the Rangers will have to expose one goaltender who is either under contract or is a RFA who received a QO. No NHL games requirements though, as opposed to skaters.
In other words, if Georgiev is still here, and Hank wants another contract, there will be no NMC, and he will be exposed.
they would have to have already signed the extension prior to the expansion draft in that scenario tho Ilb, which i can only see happening if they traded Georgie, in which case Hank would be the protected goalie, regardless of NMC or not. I’d assume some goalie in the minors will be the one exposed by the rangers
Interesting, fellas. Thank you for the clarification. So who could they expose? Huska?
Thanks for the explanation guys. Anyone know when Seattle is allowed to start making player deals? Is it not until after the expansion draft?
Until Darth Vader is remade into a transgender stripper, we will never progress as a society!
James just laying out what Hank has said in the past…if he wanted to leave he would be gone already
For expansion draft thinking they would just sign back up /3rd string goalie with purpose of exposing him /meeting requirement
Well this isn’t about what Hank wants. It’s about what’s best for the team.
Ron Duguay has a podcast for the NY post. In it he has a 5 minute segment with Larry Brooks. In the most recent one he asked Brooks a two part question. Would the Rangers ever consider trading Hank, and are there any contending teams that would want him. Brooks said that the only way the Rangers would consider trading Hank was if Hank came to them and asked. The second question the answer was no. No contending team would be interested. Brooks also added he felt Hank would finish out his contract as a Ranger.
Duguay pretending he doesn’t know all of this? Or is he dense?
Mirror Mirror on the wall, who’s the prettiest one of all…
Mirror – why It’s you Ron Duguay. You’re the prettiest….
For a guy who spent most of his career eschewing coaching and flouting rules, Doogie sure is demanding and critical of young players nowadays.
Hank’s finally reading about his gentle demise in the mainstream Press – way, way behind astute Blog Posters.
Doogie’s wardrobe is first ballot HoF material. Literally.
Sit Hank for 9 out of every 10 games. He will get what’s what…,
If it was not about what Hank wanted, he would have been dealt at the deadline last season. The Rangers management have treated him differently than they did Hayes, Zucc and the way they will treat Kreider.
You guys really think Hank will retire after next year?
Exactly CCCP
it will be a PR nightmare not signing him anyway even at 1/2 his contract contract. better off taking the hit and going the buyout route this summer.
Hank: “I will serve as a new studio analyst for MSG as soon as I retire from hockey.”
Valiquette nervously: “PFFFF, YEAH, RIGHT!”
TYM, he has a full nmc, they can only trade him with his consent unlike the other guys you mentioned
James, sorry, teaching a class or three. Shesty is the firm number three in this troika, Georgie has been better than you could have hoped, and Lundqvist is your solid backup who will steal a point or two every so often. It’s all about how you project them into the next couple of years. I think they’ll trade one or the other of the kids, and it’s a gamble either way. When you promoted Shesty to #2 (I know, for fun) I simply noted that made no sense until he gets up here for a look-see. That’s my narrative, if you truly wish to go there. 🙂
He does. But the Rangers could have moved him by telling him he was not going to play.
But low.
Sell high
Hank’s no longer
The main guy.
Rangers 4
Leafs 0
GwG – Lemieux
No contending teams would want him but last year at the deadline at least one team inquired. Mmmyeah ok
It’s all about how you project them into the next couple of years. I think they’ll trade one or the other of the kids, and it’s a gamble either way.
Idk Norm. When I think of the next couple of years it certainly doesn’t include Hank. I don’t buy what Brooks is selling and even if he’s right to some degree a lot can change by next October when Shesterkin is looking for NHL minutes.
Things are not always as cut and dry as we think. Next year may include a three goalie system if it really comes down to it
Sorry for not putting your quote in quotes, Norm
Three goalies next year? Which ones in the AHL?
Isles fans now believing they’re as good as the Bruins.
I’m such a fabulous writer, James, that my words are instantly Fast-like, so no need for quotation marks.
All 30 current NHL teams must submit a Protected List of players to the NHL by Saturday, XX 2021
-Either include a list of seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender OR eight skaters (forwards/defensemen) and one goaltender
-Players with a “No Movement” clause must be protected if the player does not waive the clause
-First and second-year professional players and unsigned draft picks are not eligible for the expansion draft and won’t need to be protected
-All other players are eligible for the Expansion Draft
Furthermore,
-Each of the 30 teams must expose at least one defensemen and at least two forwards who are a) under contract in 2021-22 and b) played in at least 40 NHL games the prior season, or in at least 70 NHL games over the previous two seasons combined.
-those teams must also expose at least one goalie who is either under contract in 2021-22 or will be a restricted free agent immediately prior to 2021-22. If a team elects to expose the latter option to the expansion draft, it must have already given that goalie a qualifying offer prior to submitting its protected list.
-any players with potential career-ending injuries who have missed more than the previous 60 consecutive games heading into 2021-22, or who have been otherwise confirmed to have a career-threatening injury, cannot be exposed to the expansion draft unless approved by the league
-Hank gone. Regardless
-Georgie Protected
-Shesterkin not eligible as will be either 1st or 2nd year player. (He has to play at least 10 NHL games, right?)
-Sign garbage back up goalie, expose
The PR nightmare if they don’t extend Hank? Seriously? Ranger fans will be burning tickets as HL tries to peddle his wares elsewhere to keep going? Really? He may be competitive, but I don’t see him that interested in still playing on some other team to just say he can (or to collect a few more million). Same applies if bought out. He’s not going to a contender as a backup (ego) so is he going to do a two year deal with a middle/lower ranked team..just becasue?
HL may want to think he compares, but HL is not Jeter. Not even close. And Jeter was 36 banging out his last contract (and for the first half year of it). HL will be 38 this March with a full season left on the current. Oy vey
My name is CluelessLongwind of the clan Bonehead
Does thou intend to challenge thy claim?
But in all seriousness something non-bonehead related pissed me off and I deleted a couple of accounts and then realized you guys need me, or something like that
