Rangers ( 3-5-1 ) vs Lightning ( 5-3-2 ), 7:30 pm start, TV- NBCSN
First Responders Night at the Garden.
And, what a coincidence, they are honoring Dan Girardi, who frequently looked like he would need to be on a stretcher after some of the injuries he sustained on the ice. Except he would come back to play the very next shift.
Dan Girardi will drop the ceremonial puck. I expect a lot of ovations. There is something to say about an undrafted kid who made it to the big league by giving everything he had, night in, night out. One of the true Rangers. I remember some of the blocked shots and the injuries he sustained because of that. Some of us would start using our long term disability benefits next day. Girardi? He’d come back next shift. I also remember they showed a picture of his injured ankle. In my medical opinion he needed to be admitted to the hospital for IV antibiotics and wound debridement. Apparently, he was arguing with his coach that he could play that day. If half of their team had his heart when he was in NY, we would see a couple of Stanley Cups. All the best, Dan! Enjoy your retirement.
Projected lineup:
Looks like two recent call ups go in two different directions. Chytil straight to the first line, Lindgren to the box. Though I think Lindgren is a game time decision.
Kreider-Chytil-Buchnevich
Panarin-Strome-Kakko
Lemieux-Howden-Fast
McKegg-Andersson-Smith
Hajek-Trouba
Skjei-DeAngelo
Staal-Fox
Zibanejad is day to day
Haley and Lindgren prucha’d
Georgiev in net.

The streak is over!
Suck it 4ever!
Lindgren is with Fox.
Staal is out.
Guys I’m pretty sure Coos just ran passed my house streaking and singing joyful joyful.
How’s your tooth, BDL?
The wife and I were having a good laugh earlier as I joked that you’d get all loopy on laughing gas and start telling the dentist what an a-hole I am LOl
James
My first thought was cooscoos
Too
I am a bit more convinced we go buyout route w staal this summer
I hope they don’t buy out Staal, Alex. Doodie will have a stroke and wind up an in-patient at my job where I’ll have to take his x-rays and listen to his slurring rants about dead cap space.
Enterprise car rental agent:
“I guess fatso forgot to fill the gas tank there…”
Alex, it’s only one game, but if the Rangers truly show a willingness to scratch staal consistently perhaps he becomes open to a trade at some point and not impossible there are takers when he only has 1 year left if the rangers eat some money. However, unless they are truly cap strapped this offseason i also wouldn’t worry about keeping staal as the 7th d and avoid having more dead space the year after. Buying out staal next year after not doing so the two other times they should have would be hard to take!!
SSS (Staal Still Sucks)
Pete if I know Quinn, he’ll cycle Staal back in for Hajek within a game or two and then sit Lindgren for something , wait a game or so sit Skjei and round and round
Cyborg Girardi will always be a favorite of mine.
Definitely BooBoo. Mine too!
Thanks, G!
Danny G for next Coach?
Nice and should honor Dan Girard but why dudn’t Marc Staal drop the puck for his linemate
Let’s see how the new coach at Hartford “developed” Chytil
Already Panarin with Strome and Fast.
The New York Never Have the Puck
More of rest for Staal but good night for Coos
What hung Kreider go down there convinces me he’s playing with an injury
Now that Kreider shaved that thing off his chin watch him find his A-game
Was disgusting how many fans were running him out if town; the name calling even worse
Just like Staal Beezle
As to Don C. 8 games or whatever is not long enough to call ‘development’
Rangers reacting to hits now?
Look at Lias getting all scrummy.
I guess maybe that fed ex package containing their balls arrived today ?
Haley certainly cleaned Maroons clock with that last fist
Lindgren factor James!
Lisa! Wow. Smith channels G…
Bobbyo I’m fine with critique of play and cap effect. But the stuff that I read from fans about Girardi his last few years was gutter or worse.
What a Maroon!
Did Chytil just start to back check?
Plenty of same directed at Staal Beezle
Yes but only after another turn over
Pierre needs to block a shot, put that big mouth to use
Kakko still pressing
Too much pressure on the Kakko never a good thing
Why does it seem that the line Smith is on always spends more time in the offensive zone compared to the other three?
Lol as I say that the Legend’s line goes on a run
Nice sentiments, ILB. Well done
Is this Liam calling the game on NBCSN? Not bad IMO, whoever it is
Because they know how to forecheck Beez
Young team, bad change Pierre: Panarin, Trouba, Fast?
They can’t all change when the puck doesn’t even make it to the red line. They have competed so far. That was a dumb play.
Bad change but they were gassed from long shift and missed trip on Trouba
5 of them to the bench all at the same time? Schoolboy error
1-0 Tampa, 1-0 nationals
Thats a little soft, but also not smart
Weak call
The Legend showing how to go to net and draw penalty
Did I miss anything? Does everyone suck? Did they fire DQ during the game?
Caught a glimpse on way to intermission…may be mistaken but looked like Maroon’s face may have hit the ice on the way down
Tomk
Thanks
Not a bad period. Thought both Chytil and Lindgren were pretty good. Would like to see Chytil stay on his skates a little better.
So are they playing better because of:
1. Return of Fast the Legend
2. Return of the Don
3. Replacement of Staal
Fast. The answer is always Fast.
I’m so tired of people saying “Oh, you don’t look Russian.” to me. Really? What am I supposed to look like? A bottle of vodka?!
Likey Lindgren
KAKKO KREIDER PANARIN
This is Brian Burke’s son doin the game right?
Man Lindgren looks good
Stamos is bustin..it 2 night great example
Never should have went down. Neither should have krapsoft
I think Lemieux is gunna drop em next
Tampa hasn’t changed a bit, dirtiest team in the league by a mile.
Johnny Cash and Youth Soccer..I dunno…..somethings off
We look much better in our zone..any coincidence?
Didnt know Cooper was a lawyer..figures
Love Pepe
LOL C3
Fox can move that puck
This is it let’s go
These guys effin blow with empty nets.
I’m not watching at the moment did Tampa score because Lindgren put himself out a position to go throw a body check?
Lindgren heatmap update?
Atta boy KK
Kakko needed that
He did that on purpose. THAT’S how good he is.
Kakko scorra goalla.
We r outshooting TB 23 ro 13 ….
Who stepped in a warm.pile of schitt
On the way in?
Kakko with a laser 😆
James, Lindgren took out Stamkos, who knocked georgiev down and then Kucherov put the puck that was just laying there into the empty net.
Apparently snow angels only work for Rangers’ opposition.
6 ball side pocket off the 9
Staal Out
Shots for up
Shots against down
Compete level up
Turnovers down
The defense rests your honor
Pansification
Phenomenal play by Trouba. Dumbass play by Smith.
EV
Any update on shutout streak
Can go through Friday if you want
Thisnisball on Skiej
Fast bailed his azz out
Skjej airhead
Friggin Skjei got bailed out by his mates.
709 today, Alex. 712 through Friday.
Smith lmao a st Patrick’s day rush
Stumblin..Rumblin..Bumbling
Smitty should have dumped it in and changed
Trouba with a letter tonight with 2 guys out
Kreider gets one for home game for rare time
2 observations…..
1) No Staal = Addition by Subtraction.
2) Chytil looks MUCH better than he did in pre-season.
Tampa has about 4 goals less than I thought they’d have by now
MSG ticket saleschimp will be calling g tomorrow offering a 10 pack NonStaal Pack
Great save by Georgiev. Shi++y play by whoever the defenseman was.
Beautiful pass by 77
Good first period even though they trail. They set the tone early and competed. They can’t match up on talent, but, they can play hard.
Tampa should pull Vagesil. Rangers can’t put it in an empty net.
🙄🙄🙄
Ottawa would’ve score in that situation if it was against us.
Why Can’t Pierre just shut the phock.up?
Be nice to give kaako a shift or two with panarin (especially when starting in the offensive zone)!
ORF, they can’t match up on IQ either.
If there Rangers play a competitive 3rd period with a high battle level, win or lose, this was a good game.
Though I’ll still rant and rave so, if that’s the case, somebody remind me I said that.
So after 2 periods Staal s not a minus..go figure…
*the
Somebody finally did that behind the net pick the puck up and wrap it around to the top corner of the net move that you see in college and junior hockey.
CCCP re your 841 – a pack of Marlboros
Late to this one, watching on delay so not reading comments yet, but too bad on the one hand you didn’t have McD and Staal facing off in front of Girardi, but good that they have their priorities straight if they are determined to see what Lindgren’s got.
Hey there, fans!
Off the boardie Gordie here, coming to you live from the hockey hotbed of Mogadishu, Somalia!
I heard about what happened with our boy, Vitali Kravtsov. Tough break! But… that’s the reason for my visit here!
I’ve gotta tell ya- The food here is something awful… I’ve sh*t my pants 3 times at last count…. BUT, there’s a LOT of potential #2 centers here that I have a really good feeling about for next year!
Well…. gotta go trim the stache!
Gordie…. out.
NYR Stats & Info
@NYRStatsInfo
Seven players 21 years old or younger are skating for the Rangers in tonight’s game (Andersson, Chytil, Fox, Hajek, Howden, Kakko, and Lindgren). Per NHL Stats and Info, tonight is the third game in Rangers history which seven different #NYR 21 years old or younger played.
The first two: Nov. 21, 1953 at TOR – Andy Bathgate, Chick Chalmers, Aldo Guidolin, Harry Howell, Bill McCreary Sr., Ron Murphy, and Dean Prentice; Dec. 16, 1976 at BUF – Wayne Dillon, Dave Farrish, Ron Greschner, Dave Maloney, Mike McEwen, Don Murdoch, and Doug Soetaert.
Cccp
Perhaps if you weren’t always walking around in a red “c.c.c.p.” T shirt folks would approach you less about it.
Just need a good 20 minutes…
Hey gordie,
I think I left a couple MREs there, could you see if you can find them?
And watch out for the skinnys all messed up on Kot.
Thanks
Skjei finally made a great defensive play. That 1 for 106 in this game.
Hank’s hair is perfect. Like the werewolf of London.
*that’s
Brendan Smith is abysmal at offense.
Good thing Smitty can forecheck
Oh no… We can’t say kitty? Lol
Smith is probably the only guy in the league who could put that over the net from there.
We always pass one time too many
Refs ain’t callin doodoo.
EV see Buch last game
Add Joseph to that list with kucherov, killorn, and Johnson.
Actually Beezle, if I remember correctly, when I saw that in slow moron on a replay I believe it hit something in its way up. Either the goalie or the crossbar.
I hesitated to say that about Smith because of that breakaway, but then I remembered that.
In slow moron….Lmmfao
When I saw “slow moron” I thought of trump.
Tampa is leaving Smith alone in front of the net on purpose. They know he’s shiz from there.
My phone is a slow moron
Is this a UK blog? Why does sh!te, without the exclamation point go to moderation?
The bread man needs to score here
Quinn honestly refuses to show any in-game creativity. Offensive zone face off, obvious time to give Kaapo a shift with Panarin…
Chytil has looked good thus far
Maybe the Rangers will miss things up and shoot at Vagesil’s glove side for once. It’s getting repetitive.
Woot woot
We need to win this in regulation
Great defensive play by Buch on wall
Savior.
Chtil’s on!
If that w was on purpose, it was phenomenal. I think he was just reaching for it though.
Either way I’LL TAKE IT!!
Wooo hooo krapsoft!!!
I mean chytil
Why isn’t Kreider like this AT LEAST 1/2 THE FREAKING TIME! It’s SOOOOOOO infuriating.
Should have waited until the last minute to score. The goal woke Tampa up.
Kravtsov should call Chytil and ask him how to be a professional. Might just learn a few things.
Chytil deserved that goal. Kid’s been great tonight!
What did DQ spike the water with?
They should all call fast and thank him for being such an inspirational leader and scoring two goals tonight.
Olga you’ve been saving that one!
Didn’t mention it earlier but what a great hit by lias along the wall in the high miss play by smith
Where’s SN?
Woot woot woot
What does the Fox say?
I think he’s still waiting on Kreider to drive play.
Several of us have asked that question as well.
Foxing A !!!!!!
Boooooyaaaaahhhhhh!
Fox always looks like his dentures just fell out. Nice goal.
The fox says thank you for giving me lindgren.
Jambalayaaaaaaaaaa!
Best game by Kreider this year
WHO ARE THESE GUYS
Best 20 Game
Best All Around Game
What an effort
Woot woot woot woot
Great save by Georgie. That’s a Stamkos laser.
2C Stromeo!
Strome, Strome has the Range…
Buchnevich has been good…again.
MSG TICKET SALESCHIMPS WILL BE OUT TOMORROW IN FULL FORCE
Stromebringer
1) Georgiev
2) THE
3) Chytil
Was that the same team? Was RuffRuff coaching tonight?
Finally caught up. I had it Georgiev, Chytil and Fox even before the third goal. Terrific perfomances all over the ice. Didn’t hurt to see the backs of Maroon and Hedman, but they took advantage, made TB look ordinary.
Best game of the season. Even though they were without two guys, they’re still the lightning and not Buffalo.
Sounds like they actually let more than 5000 fans into the building tonight.
There were a lot of guys who played their best game of the season, but I thought Hajek really stood out.
Kreider also deserving of a star, great night. SELL HIGH!
The question is: Can they play like this twice in a row?
Clearly Zibanejad is the problem
Rangers are GOOD again!
Hajek stood out indeed.
how was this possible without staal?! Carp has some explaining to do!
I had it Georgiev, lindgren, and lias…in no particular order.
The Three Period Rangers have emerged for a night.
Vasoline was very good or the score would have been worse. We don’t get a chance to say that about the opponent’s goalie often.
Looks left, looks right, checks escape routes… didn’t hurt to have Fast back either.
Ducks, runs away, serpentine.
#1 Star Staal for the sit
What an improvement. Fox is going to be a player, and he and Lindgren looked good together. Chytil looks like an NHL player. Best game of the season.
Also found it interesting that Skjei played his best game of the season. Could it be the presence of Lindgren put a little pressure on him?
Pierre trying to get a date with Kreider
Chytil was better than you could have asked for tonight.
I thought the pre game ceremony was the league wide retirement of #17 in honour of all world fast…instead it was just for some guy named Girardi
yup BDL, best center for the rangers tnte. Be great if he can stick and strome can go to the 3rd line wing, ideally moving kaapo to the 1st (sorry fast)
Maybe teams are taking the Rangers lightly now. It’s not game 7 for everyone. No passengers tonight though. Hopefully the effort will be there more consistently going forward.
What happened? I blacked out.
Who are these guys?
The one night I’d like to see a post game show and there isn’t one.
Blocks:
D’Anger 3 Howden 3 Pepe Jr 2 Chytil 2. THE, SkjeL, Hajek, Smith, Fast 1 each
Most TOI Doodie’s boy Stromeo. 22:21. Guess he’s over the flu?
I feel the same about the lack.of a post game report..84 out of 113 times I want to watch Vally I am denied
Just to brake things a little on Don C. 3/11 on FO. Strome 17/29
Strome was the best centre tonight, chytil looked good still needs to work on faceoffs etc but not bad.
Be nice to see him stick.
Lol beezle…vibin’
It’s one game, Twitter rangers fans anointing chytil the next one…smh
G ceremony
Wick called the Lindgren-Fox pairing. I hope they can stay together.
If Staal goes back in next game this place might spontaneously combust.
all of twitter TomK
Where’d coos go after he passed James’ place?
KFC?
Chytil played well on both sides of puck. Showed heart.
Lias is getting stronger and bigger balls
Lindgren did great. Nice positioning. Good pinches.
Fox is Harvahd smrt
Georgiev – MsG needs to figure out his “henrik” chant. ? “Alex Alex Alex”
Kaako looked good. Panerin is really amazing almost every shift.
The dirty play sending lindgren hard into boards same that was called first period. What a dirty intent to injure play submarining legs out heading into boards.
Imagine gourde dropped em with lemiuex. Woulda been a big beat down.
“The question is: Can they play like this twice in a row?”
The answer is: No.
eh strome won more faceoffs, otherwise don’t think he had a great game and his line wasn’t overly effective. and that has nothing to do with chytil
I feel like the Kirk Gibson call…
” I can’t believe what I just saw..”
