Like I said, Carolina stands no chance. Just like the Jackets. Bruins are just too good to be beaten 4 out of 7 games.
Tiki
They are going to own 3 of the 4 major titles. And I missed out on 40 grand because the Celtics couldn’t hold up their end of the bargain.
Rob
So you were rooting for Boston until the Celtics lost?
Tiki
No. I dont root for them. I just put money on them in the event they win, I at least profit from it. I find it incredibly unlucky that they get 3 titles and I get nothing but a measly couple thousand out of it. If all four had won, 40 thousand could’ve literally changed my life. So I’m caught between a rock and a hard place. I never want them to win, but my life could’ve changed for the better had they all won.

If the Rangers end up with Hughes, does it change there off season thinking at all? Meaning not signing a center.

Does it also make Chytil, Howden, or Andersson expendable? My view, no. I’ve always felt Andersson best position was wing. I don’t like Chytil on the wing, but he played there quite a bit this year. It could be his long term NHL position. That leaves Howden at his natural position of center.

When the Rangers select Hughes at # 2 either Chytil, or Andersson, will be moved for a young winger or in a package for a solid stay at home RD man.
My dad tried to get me into hockey programs as a kid. I’ve asked him. He said he took me a couple times to different programs as a young tyke but that I didn’t want to do anything but skate around and hit the puck by myself in my own little world. And the rinks early on were nowhere close.
But I do remember doing a summer camp at the rinx in happauge once. 9-10 ups. And it was my first time getting on skates in years and I was with kids who had been playing. Well my dads told me the instructors said to him at the end, nobody got better than your son did, In the two weeks he went from being way behind to like if you gave him another couple weeks he might be too good for the kids he was playing with/against.
But I’ve always been a wild kid. And by that time me and my best friends were spending every afternoon and weekend down at the tennis courts or dead end newly paved road playing roller hockey and I decided to just play with them and then eventually the HS football coaches talked me into playing middle school football bc they felt I could play a lot in HS if I wanted. And boom boom bang. Wish I never played football
But I loved that summer camp
jpp
Funny story. At the beginning of this summer camp. They took everyone into the pool and did this contest or whatever. Where everyone had to doggy paddle and stay afloat and we were gonna see who could last the longest without holding onto the edge of the pool.
Well I closed my eyes and just got into a rhythm and when i finally opened my eyes everyone was sitting on the edge of the pool laughing at me. I totally zoned out into keeping afloat and went somewhere else and the contest is way over and I’m still doing it with my eyes closed. Haha
TYM
So Toronto finally has a clutch sports team and it is the basketball team? LOL!
jpp
Clutch players are clutch players.
I saw his 2nd season that Kawhi Leonard was one of those touched by god competitors.
Him and Durant is everyone’s top choice right? Just get the impression Leonard doesn’t want to play in NY. Hope I’m wrong
jpp
My best football memory is also my worst though.
I didn’t get to play my junior year in HS. But I was able to play my senior year and all these kids I grew up with who were in the program since 7 grade wanted to try to and make it to games at Hofstra. That was the big thing. Me, I wanted to compete in a playoff screnario, winner moving on, I didn’t give a crap about the regular season, I wanted a chance to prove that I could go up against what was thought to be the best of our age. We didn’t end up making it the playoffs but
That year amityville was the number 1 😉 team in the entire tri-state. I remember looking at the ranking, ahead of poly tech and all these tri-state powerhouses. They had a couple kids, the 2nd best (what was considered) he went on to have a better college career than the star of the team. Forgot that kids name. Might have been a fullback that went on to Pitt or something. But the star’s name was Eugene Nottingham. I remember that
jpp
Well anyway. We played this team dead to rights. We were unranked and we beat them up all game, we were ahead and better the entire game. And it came down to amityville needing a hail Mary at the end of the game to win it, we were about to break their 3 year unbeaten streak.
And I remember it like yesterday. Me and my best friend/brother/next door neighbor, we were both used as the pass rushers and blitzers when we were being aggressive and i remember our line coach who happened to live on the same block as us and his kids were friends with my best friends little brothers. And the coach used to call us the Colton boys, that was our street name. And he says, you guys are lining up at on each end and you guys are meeting at the QB and winning this game for us.
Well we did our part, I just remember how quickly me and him were twisting to not freight train each other, and the QB Nottingham just throws it up to avoid the sack and our QB (supposed to be our best player) playing safety completely mistimes the jump and is up and down and out of the place and the ball just lands in the receivers breadbasket as if our QB wasn’t even there.
I remember looking at my friend from the ground after that place, like wtf man, what else could we do, we couldn’t be everywhere on that field.
Well two days later, I walk into my coach office at the beggin of school on Monday and I’m still distraught, so many little plays here and there racking my brain, but to him, he was like Jesus are you kidding me, your game film in that game is incredible, we had the newsday reporter ask who you were bc you didn’t play last year.
The coach was just happy we played them close and that the HS football world knew, but I wasn’t in it for moral victories. We needed that win to get into the playoffs. That’s when I realized people don’t play or do things for the same reasons
jpp
It’s also funny how in big moments guys who at other times are standouts freeze up.

I’ve been thinking…everything that Hughes has done to stamp himself as a “generational player” just gets thrown away because in some tournament , Kakko plays very well? Aren’t these type of players supposed to play well, anyway?
Sure there’s a chance the Devil’s will opt for Kakko….but isn’t silly to think that however either of them play over a few game span would ever change the long term plans of an organization?

I think Kakko had to establish himself more in this tournament that Hughes. That said, he has risen to the occasion so far. I also saw it noted elsewhere that Kakko has some health issues that could be concerns. No show stoppers , but, caution flags.

And before the Hughes whining starts, yes…Hughes will then be there at two.
Again, speculating, but those folks concerned about kakko going to the devils at one are probably doing so because they feel he is the better player and thus would like the rangers to get the better player that is kakko (in their opinion) instead of the devils.
