If last night’s ASG broadcast is the future of the NHL on television, count me out – I’ll listen to the games on radio. With all that clutter on the screen, I think I am still suffering flashbacks.
The NHL seems more interested in trying to attract new fans than they are trying to reward their loyal long term fans. Stick all of this “fancy graphics stuff” to some alternate channel or web site and just let the natural beauty of the game flow through.
Dollars dictate. The aim of Capitalism, unfortunately but factually, is to constantly figure out how to get what’s in your wallet into mine, day by day by day. There’s always music and phony romance. Sad to say, but fact.
The most important take away from this weekend for me was coyne. Not only was her time impressive, but she was faster than Keller lol.
She also looked like she could throw a nasty check. Tender an offer.

I think the problem with Sam’s “last a lifetime”, statement is not the intent, but the way in which he said it. He probably meant, “And this MEMORY will last a lifetime”. He probably thought that everyone would understand that by “one” he meant “memory”. No matter. Until he comes out, publicly apologizes and clarifies what he meant, we are doomed (sigh).

I think the strategy of trading your best player every year is a good strategy.

Don’t want to get personal, Coos, but I wonder what the immigration laws were when your people first came here.
Both my sets of grandparents came here early last century, one in the teens, the other after WWI (in which he was a veteran with commendation from the king), and since they weren’t Chinese, there were no laws restricting their entrance (though at various times both of their ‘races’ were considered ‘undesirable’. In fact, if my Italian ancestors had waited a few years, it’s unlikely they could have got in at all since they were the ones those ‘brighter folks than me’ were targeting with restrictions. (And who knows, maybe they would have been right since he was once arrested for making wine during prohibition. But on the other hand, his youngest son, the uncle I never knew, was killed in Germany exactly one month to the day before VE day. You know – undesirable.)
The only Mistake Sam Rosen made was in phrasing. Instead of “and this one will last a lifetime,” it would have had the words “have to” in the middle. Then he would have been right on. And this one will have to last a lifetime. For some of us……our reality.
