Good morning. boneheads!
Here is the link to Carp’s new article. Apparently Carp is planning to write a series of these evaluations. Thanks, Carp, this will keep RR2 alive.
Games tonight: Bruins ( 2 )-Maple Leafs ( 1 ), Capitals ( 2 )-Blue Jackets ( 1 )

1st…. please pass the Gold!
Sittoo, I’m not sure I see Hank agreeing to most of those teams you listed, with the possible exceptions being Philly and maybe St. Louis (tho he’d been in for a culture shock) and the Isles if he no longer cared about his Rangers legacy (similar concern for the Flyers, but less so). The rest of the teams you listed are both not desirable locations and arguably farther away from being contenders than the rangers
JT MILLER 22 points in his last 23 games. Lands on his feet in Tampa on the 1st line. Why did we trade the Power Forward again?
Can’t wait to read Carp’s reviews of Arniel and the 4th liners!!!
Agreed Pete. Just think if he wanted out they could have swung a deal.
Can question why we traded him and if we got the best deal for him and Mac combined, but he wasn’t going to be putting up those kind of numbers here this season or next (absent us acquiring a true 1st line center). He made plenty of the same mistakes over and over and were reports of ice issues (and clearly he and AV didn’t see eye to eye), but somewhat of a surprise they weren’t willing to see how he did with a new coaching regime
I’m looking forward to reading all of Carp’s evaluations. Hope he does the guys that were traded away too…
Also did you all read Brooks interviews with Jim Dolan? Some eye-opening comments regarding Mac.
If Hank approached Gorton and told him he wanted out, they would’ve found a way to make it happen. He wants to stay, anything else is pointless.
Pretty interesting articles by LB, Sitoo.
JT had an attitude problem or too many giveaways or hit too much or didn’t want to pay him, blah blah blah. Why not sign a 1 yr bridge deal and trade him at deadline next season to see if new coach could work with him?
.
Remember last POs when AV moved him down to the 4th line with Oscar and Glass.
.
Not to be confused with future NYR Capt Haze who is 0-3-3 in 15 games over the last 2 PO seasons…
So Henk is happy not winning a Cup and collecting his loot from Dolan.
Shocker!
If Hank is willing to kift his NTC for the expansion draft, he could wind up in Seattle for the final 2 years of his deal.
Lift
Lundqvist was hardly the biggest problem with the Rangers this season but Carp’s B+ still seems pretty generous, especially for a season where he put up objectively the worst numbers of his career. He was the best player on a tire fire team who used a disproportionate amount of the the salary cap. B- feels appropriate.
SN
9:40…well done sir.
If hank didn’t/doesn’t want to leave…fine that’s on him, but to think they wouldn’t or couldn’t trade him is just asinine.
Captain KREIDER!
If only we could find Pimp to stump for him!!!
Who coaches this team?
Rangers throw offer sheet at miller for 7×7, Tampa doesn’t match
Rangers decide they don’t want to pay av to sit on his aasen so they hire him back. Miller plays 60 games on the 4th line next season averaging 8 minutes a game, plays 9 games on first line at 17 minutes a game, is healthy scratch the other 3.
Miller ends season with 11 goals and 10 assists, 20 of his 21 points come in the 9 games he played on first line.
Book it!!
Healthy scratch the other 13 games….
This falking phone.
Hanks best years were in a Torts style defensive system. With the Blockness monster in front of him.
The run and gun AV system was fun to watch when it worked, but it left Hank out to dry against a more skilled teams.
Rangers became the softest team in the league, and the easiest to play against.
Sioux
It wasn’t that fun to watch, but your post is 100% correct
Wicky it’s mind boggling how far the Rangers have fallen from playing OLD TIME hockey.
No secret the most successful season (based on how deep into the playoffs they went) under av was with mostly torts players and system.
Sioux
Indeed
Ah JT Miller what could have been? We must admit the NYR organization is one of the best in the league at evaluating talent! Three #1’s in the up coming draft “Help us Obi Wan Kenobi you’re our only hope”
To rebuild this team it has to be a defensive coach. Like Tippet.
Defense first, and they have to hit someone. The softness has to stop, I’m tired of stick checks.
Second. We need a center that can win a draw. Look at the successful playoff teams, the top 4 teams are all strong down the middle. I’m not sure our best center could play the 3rd line on a winning playoff team this year.
I love spring living in the mountains…
Monday morning had 7.5” of new snow, Monday afternoon 70 degrees Fahrenheit
Tuesday snow flurries all day, kids soccer practice at 35 degrees Fahrenheit and snowing
Wednesday morning another couple inches of snow, soccer practice that evening, sunny and 55 degrees
Lol, love it!
Gotta love St Pete 74° and a bright sunny day!
Brassard is a good 3rd line center on a playoff team. Here he was 1a or 1b, and here he was traded for Zibby.
Lots of Legos needed for this team. Maybe by the time Miss Sioux Graduates from Columbia, we will have a winning team 🙏
The Taylor Hall trade belongs on comedy central!
I’m with St Pete!
19 inches of snow in spring, shut down the airport, 500 car accidents, I’m tired of snow. We got shut down on the plane for 10 hours and didn’t get to fly out to NY for Days on Campus 😡😡😡
St Pete if not Comedy Central, at least the Devils version of “THE SCORE”. Best thief move of the year. Hands down!!!
Tom K
i think it would be just the last year since Henrik has 3 years left and i think the expansion draft would be in 2 years.
the rangers were better in Av’s first 2 years mostly due to various players being more in their prime (Hentik, Staal, Girardi, McDonagh). Then guys like Stepan and St Louis were around as leaders and contributors on the ice.
Henk – B+ is fair given the heavy lifting he was forced to do. Guy saw more rubber than a pro on forty deuce. Outside of the that one stretch where the Brass decided to throw in the towel and let everyone know it. Who the heck decided that was smart? Wouldn’t their moves telegraph what they were doing?
What worries me about the Brooksie article is that Dolan seems to be involved somewhat in the Rangers. Not a good sign. They could go the way of the Knicks and become the laughing stock of the league where no one wants to play. One of the Rangers’ advantages now is that everyone wants to play for them. Every UFA will talk to them. Top NBA UFAs don’t even talk to the Knicks.
I thought Dolan’s comments were smart and forward thinking. Liked what I read in terms of what they are looking for in a Coach.
Watched Miller last night. He was making a lot of the same mistakes that he was making with the Rangers. The difference is that Cooper kept putting him on the ice. Cooper, it seems, is willing to live with some mistakes from Miller. Realizing that the good far out ways the bad with Miller. It’s what good coaches do.
As far as Hank goes. If you are grading him against what Hank used to be, C is as high as you can go. If you are grading him based on the rest of the team, B is fair.
So JT is up to 2 goals now in 44 games…is he backchecking for his new team cause he was dogging it here
You guys see Dreger’s tweet?
“Some good college candidates are in the NYR head coaching mix. Montgomery (U of Denver), Quinn (BU) and Sandelin (Minn Duluth). Interesting.”
JT was too busy digging the puck out of the corner on this soft serve team. I guess he should have beat the two men on the boards and then beat the D slide and scored…
.
NY Rangers with 100+ hits and 40+ points the last 3 seasons; Miller and Kreider.
yup dogging it…
maybe but he was not backchecking after the new year SN
There was no player dogging it more than the coaches pet/ fan favorite. Having said that, I agree, Miller dogged at the end. He wanted out, and it showed.
I am sure Sioux will be happy to see a former Fighting Sioux being considered as a Rangers bench boss – even if he has spent the last 18 years at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. He has won two NCAA titles seven years apart so that shows he can win, rebuild/retool and win again.
It’s to bad that Miller and Gorton couldn’t just wait it out. Would love to have seen Miller with a different coach.
Who knew? Dolan and I agree on every point, even the right-on McDonagh evaluation which was left unspoken by all. Seems Jimmy Boy is more intrusive behind the curtains of the inherited ice than many think. (how’s that for a mixed metaphor). 🙂
AND I have always thought that Torts’ fate was sealed the day he said at a Presser within Dolan’s earshot: : “I’ve got my owner up here talking about a Stanley Cup -that’s bullchit!”
LOL Hank being told that a re-build was coming, as though his two shrewd Swedish eyes hadn’t already ‘transitioned’ that info to his Scandinavian brain. Also I see some minor chicanery in telling this to Hank and asking him if he wanted out, like they were honoring him, when in reality, they probably wanted a yes and grab as much of that 9 mil back as possible.
BDL – you are right now…
Obviously playing with 2 studs now does nothing but help the stats and he is prone to making mistakes. Still looking for the player who doesn’t make any.
.
My theory is there was a falling out at the beginning of the year with Elaine after he was yo-yo’d around too many times. Should have let AV go at trade deadline and let Ruff take over for the interim. Season was over anyway, according NYR brass.
AV has found 2 perfect players. One he has adopted as a son, and the other as a pet.
I wanted to get away form Bazooka Joe and I’m not even on the team Geez!
Anthony you are probably right. Sandelin would be my first choice to mentor youth. If the Rangers are going the youth whisper route.
I think Dave Tippett / James Patrick combo would help Henrik in the net more than anyone.
When the lust for a plush life and glorious spotlight easily overcome any desire for pure, professional achievements:
https://www.tsn.ca/nyr-offered-to-move-lundqvist-in-february-1.1061600
Let’s see how long Miller is in Tampa before we go anointing him the next Mike Bossy. Cap constraints may result in him only being there a year or two. And I wasn’t opposed to him getting another look with a new coach, but he was nonetheless an at times pretty frustrating player to watch and not as skilled or dynamic on his own as Kreider in my opinion. Doesn’t mean they couldn’t have kept him around, but don’t think it’s a huge loss in the longterm given he is due to be paid real money soon.
—/
Moot point for now, but only easy to trade Hank if he is open to going anywhere (which he wouldn’t be) and management is open to sending him to a local rival (likely wouldn’t be). Not an easy solution on this one.
—/
Torts block every shot at all costs strategy was great, but inevitably in the playoffs we always also saw a fair share of flukey deflection goals as a result
Tippet DOES NOT like to play the youth. I have a better chance then he does at becoming the Rangers coach.
Hi Carp, is the chat live now? Sauer update? I read on the internet BDL is on the shortlist to be the Rangers coach. What do you think? Thanks again for doing the mailbag.
Bdl – better get your hat in the ring!
Best youth coach is Dean Blais!
He has coached trained more coaches/players than Belichick
Lol Rob… I miss those “Charps.”
One has to wonder how the Hockey Gods have shined down on MILLER.
AV had MILLER on the 4th line with McLeod and Holland, literally bouncing off the bottom like a walleye jig…… traded …… playing with Stamkos and Kucherov on the first line. 11 goals 11 assist – 22 points in 23 games.
Talk about your lucky stars lining up 👌
Pete – have fun watching pass happy Haze with his 19 assists in 78 games; JT had 29 in 63 games as a Ranger. Who was the sniper he was setting up? Exactly.
.
Nobody said he was Bossy, but a former 1st round pick playing a heavy game not clicking with a passive coach on this way out the door is poor asset mismanagement, unless you believe Namestoolong is the answer to your short term needs.
.
Short term (2 to 3 years) this franchise is f’d unless Gorton pulls a rabbit or two out of his arse thanks to poor asset management by, wait for it, Gorton. Every wanna be GM wants to work for NYR, job for life!
BobbyO hates miller 😉
Well done SN!
Wick no hate on Miller …liked his skill and grit…great passer that had lapses but was really disappointed with him last few months with the team. Dont care if he was pissed with coach or management but should have been more professional and not let teammates down
Miller started back checking like Zucc and everyone hates him now…
I get a laugh out of the wildly divergent views on Hank’s decision to stay put. He’s either a Prima Donna who can’t stand the idea of moving out of the NY spotlight or a loyal soldier willing to martyr himself for the team. Pretty sure there is a happy medium somewhere…
Interesting take by everyone’s favourite about miller trade…
I think it’s starts about 10 minutes in
https://www.tsn.ca/radio/ottawa-1200/mcguire-with-the-kings-and-ducks-out-so-is-heavy-hockey-from-the-nhl-1.1061552
And fwiw I think they made a mistake moving Miller before firing AV. In hindsight, I wish they had let AV go early in the season. Would have been interesting to see how Miller and Buchnevich progressed under a different coach.
Sittoo
See the link I just posted lol
Imo, add miller to the growing list of gorton “miscalculations”
Wicky, am in a realllly boring meeting and would love to put in the headphones and listen, but I’m gonna have to wait to hear Pierre’s take…🙄
EVERY Management burpout either emphasizes or implies the word CHARACTER in defining our wants/needs. Not a coincidence. Glad to see that’s understood by the dark suits.
I like JT, but he’s about to be WAAAY overpaid by someone.
There is no such thing as a boring meeting, only disinterested participants. 🙂
Dreger today following up on his “college coaches” tweet said that there were not necessarily at the top of the rangers list but were on the list as gorton is doing his due diligence. Could very well be an experienced nhl coach or AHL guy as well.
Coos you are so right. I am extraordinarily disinterested…
The playoffs are just not same without the Rangers exiting in rd 1!
But I am optimistic about our future sort of.
Miller will score the game winner on a feed from McDounagh to win the cup. Take that AV!
Hartman gets a game, what about kucherpunk?
Thought Hartman’s was more deliberate head shot. Kuchee Koo should to shoulder with flipper coming up when the Vet went airborne.
Go bruins go!!!!!!
Yaba Daba Doo!
Yea SN i never said I loved the move in the first place and I don’t think it made any sense to take on Names, but likely Yzerman required them to do so (same reason we took on Spooner). I’d push back tho and say I don’t think they should be too concerned with short term needs really and don’t think Names should be around next year. Either way clearly Gorton had no intention of extending Miller longterm. We can’t know millers true standalone trade value, tho if Carp and others are to be believed, including Miller was the only way to get Hajek. I don’t however think Miller on his own was ever fetching us a first round pick or another teams top level prospect, but he could have been a good piece to include to try and move up in the draft if Gorton was truly set on moving him anyways. Just have to hope Hajek pans out I guess.
///
I will never claim to be the biggest Hayes fan, but can’t argue with him putting up 25 goals this year, two more than JT and Hayes never had anything close to the likes of Stamkos or Kucherov on his line to feed him (or finish his passes for that matter as JT had more assists than Hayes). Think Hayes would be much more effective an offensive player as a winger and if he just shot a lot more.
Yup, Haze scored goals when they were out of it. Softer than a mashed potato sandwich.
Sweeney is probably the best asset thru all those deals, youngsters included. He can play and even made Haze look good…
Go Leafs Go!
We have someone named Sweeney?! Is he a good goal scorer?!
Leafs burned. 3-1
Live me some Marchand!!!
Talk about soft, that leaf team is marshmallow soft
Teams that can only play one style effectively are doomed
Hellebuyck for Vézina
Hedman for Norris
Connor for Calder
McKinnon for hart
Bergeron for selke
Gallant for Adams
Wow, I’ll lock the door on my way out
That is some lousy trades Wicky!
Didn’t see either sweep coming. The West Coast power houses looked slow and sloppy in the first round.
Burn me down. Give me Carter or Getzlaf after salary retention while we “rebuild”. And don’t any of you Kovi supporters DARE second guess me!
: D
No 30+ yo players unless on very short term deals and even then…
GetsLaughs would be funny but turning 33, pass.
Torts: ‘We sucked. okay? I’m not breaking it down for you.’
Difficult to comprehend how a 36 year-old goalie certainly not on the upswing and with a porous D in front of him would want to be a part of a laborious re-build. Just me talking.
Idolatry
AV and Zucc to Calgary, in exchange for no AV, and no Zucc.
Coos,
A couple of possibilities for that. One, they have told him this is going to be a very short term rebuild. B, Hank understands what it means to be a Ranger for life, and that is more important than winning as a mercinary. 3, Or it could be a simple as living the New York lifestyle.
My suspicion is a combination of 2 and 3.
Trading Henk to Pitt this season for another Cup run would have been the ultimate kick in the groin for NYR fandom.
.
Henk has ‘earned’ the right to choose his path, but any NYR fan who believes that paying him $8.5M at this point in his career at this stage of the franchise needs to get a ‘check up from the neck up’.
I’d say the plan is 1, but Hank knows that 2 and 3 are more under his control
Speaking of Calgary, saw mentions of Dougie Hamilton could be ‘available’. Any ‘first pair’ D traded twice before his 25th Bday makes you scratch your head a bit and throw some caution to the wind.
That and the Dougie thing. Really, you are a grown man!
Re bdl…
I’d say it’s a lot of #1 and a bit of #3
Bdl
Send Bennett back this way in that deal 😉
Is the draft lottery on tv?
Would love to get Sam Bennett. When is the draft lottery.
I think it’s next weekend
April 28th
We will get the 3rd pick I feel it Zadina is ours! however going pff the board is always a possibility with Gord Clarke Kent super Scout wanna be!
pff>off
Getzlaf would instantly be the best center the Rangers have had in a long time even at 33 years old. Doesn’t seem to be suffering from diminished skill set like his right hand man Perry.
In a scenario where ANA retained salary you’d be looking at 3 years @ around 4.5 million for a guy that would most likely be a better center than anyone currently on the Rangers or that they could attain who isn’t named John Tavares unless someone like Zibanejad or Andersson suddenly emerge as an allstar pivot.
FYI Jeff Carter has a cap hit around 5 million a year but has 4 years left on his deal and is already 33 as well. He put up 60 point seasons the last 3 years and despite the big injury this season managed 13 goals in 27 games. Would also be the best center this team has had on it’s roster since 3rd line LW Eric Staal was here.
Wicky is probably going to read all that while cracking up and mutter “in-laws musta left”
Draft lottery same day as NFL draft? Not liking that one. as long as it doesn’t coincide with the words
“with the second pick in the NFL draft, the New York Football Giants select running back Sequon Barkley from Penn State”
Pastrnak= BEAST btw.
25th pick James could that ever happen with our scouting staff? You guessed it probably not!
JT Miller goes to TB and we get ugotz if Gorton decides not to re-sign Namestnikov. Even if he does Miller will produce more next year.
For the record, Miller has set career highs in points in in back to back to back seasons now. I’d call that an upward trend.
He also has 4 points in 4 playoff games for you “let’s see him get it done in the post season” guys. But HEY! can’t afford to have a guy that makes a bonehead pass a few times a month….
……………………………..
“We don’t ever have 60 point guys on this roster”
“Miller’s attitude is bad. trade him”
“Miller will score 60 points next season (58 this year)”
::crickets:::
Miller may top out as a 70 points LW and people here will still insist he should be playing center. Meanwhile all of our centers belong on the wing.
James
Bazooka Joe has always been the problem just my opinion of course. Should have fired the clown1st instead they trade Miller Ultra Maroon Management!
James,
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. Your Miller rant was top notch. It was bdl esc. If I do say do myself.
It’ll be fun to watch him go have his 100 point seasons with another team that eventually will become dependent on ineffectual smallish players who can only score off the rush, Eli. Well, actually no it wont…
Hey Guys, the NFL draft starts on the 26th (9pm) and ends on the 28th. The NHL draft lottery is on the 28th (not sure of exact time). So probably no overlap…
James – no way the Ducks move Gets Laughs and only in a NYR fantasy world do they pick up salary. He has been injured the past season and would be their best injured pivot in front of Zika here.
James: Going back to AV benching Miller in Vegas after 15:00 of the first period……..with Hayes out and half of Hartford up……..AV said he had “seen enough.” Well I had seen enough of AV and I am glad he is gone. The issue with the Rangers is that it was clearly not only AV who had seen enough. Add the Miller inclusion in the deal to Dolan’s comments about McDonagh, and Gorton’s constant talk about players with “grit and character” and the entire organization wanted to change the leadership. The big question to me is how much of a godfather Henrik is in this scenario.
Miller, Girardi, and McD laughing their butts off! Ranger fans not so much. But hey we have the amazing Hopalong Nameswaytoolong, The Hobbit, Needle & a Spoon, and the Shuffleboard Master, yippee-ki-yay!
Thought 28th. Thanks Dan. Was nervous lol
-SN, TYM- good points.
Peters resigns (not re-signs) as coach in Carolina. Cue the Rangers speculation.
The more I read the more I think Quinn is my first choice with Jim Montgomery a close second..
what has Peters done to warrant interest from anybody.
We will never know the full reason Gorton jettisoned Miller. I’m guessing to get what the Rangers felt was a better prospect in Hajek.
Depends on if you are into analytics, BDL. For the record I’m not into analytics..
James,
I’m a wins and losses, goals and assists guy myself. I also like Dmen who play defense.
I also agree about Miller. But you have to remember, Miller wanted out. He had had enough of AV. I think that’s the part that is so confusing. Trading Miller, AND firing AV.
Miller and his mistakes smh. Everybody makes mistakes that’s how goals are scored! Well everybody except Bazooka Joe and slats!
Someone must not have their in laws around any more;)
Peters will end up in Calgary, book it!
Vincent for rangers coach!!!
Bdl
Gorton miscalculation list grows!
St Pete
Zucc and fast are flawless as well, don’t forget that!
😉
Soooo obvious AV was here a year too long. AND Gorton Mensa gave him a king’s ransom extension. Riddle me that .

I knew AV even before he had wedgie problems.
Should we start boarding up the windows here yet?
Not yet Wicky Gorton still has a few miscalculated trades and draft picks to make. Surely it will solidify his legacy with his mentor Darth Cigar. The new 3 stooges Sather/Gorton/Clarke!
Scott Aniel to star in the remake of The Invisible Man!
With all fairness, Miller was a “difficult child” for all his coaches, Hartford included. So, wipe crocodile tears an proceed… Tell me better: Did we hijacked Hajek?
RIP Avicii. “Good Feeling” (which sampled his “Levels”) will always remind me of the 2012 Rangers team. Pretty sure the Rangers used some of his other songs as victory songs the past few years too.
David Quinn was just named the US juniors coach for 2019.
So funny, if not ridiculous…According to this blog active participants, when followings were playing for Rangers, consensus was: Miller – stupid penalty box permanent dweller, endless costly mistakes in own zone, hardly coachable; Girardi – great guy (which is not a profession)and old warrior , but became extremely slow, down-spiraling as a Dman, just a liability for the team, McD – is not your yesteryear McD, probably not even best D in team, besides too many injuries, Nash – just laughingstock and permanent piñata for lazes. Also, constant (and rightfully so) angrily addressed notion about lack of 1st and in general, draft picks as a strategic future for the team. So, what now? If all mentioned was true, we gave others teams damaged goods and got what was preached for so long – vast bunch of drafts and some, yes, unproven yet, but promising young players, not to mention that there is not yet Rangers team per se – didn’t even started to complete roster and structure the team. But the same people already started jealously saying how former Rangers pariahs (according to them few month ago) laughing from happiness, miraculously became the best and important for wining new teams.
For real fans it is time to relax and watch exciting and exhilarating progress of building totally new team after long stagnation – it is rare enough event, terra incognito, if you will. I rest my case…Sorry for inconvenience.
good points 4ever
https://www.theplayerstribune.com/en-us/articles/brad-marchand-built-for-boston-bruins
good one on marchand
If nothing else, it’s funny and honest. Still don’t like him – too often cross that line and it’s ugly, b/c hurt people literally…His toughness appreciated, but imo, he has enough real hockey talent not to be just a little animal, as a compensation for the size.
Guess that means Quinn’s out as coach. I just reeeeeaaally don’t want a retread! Then again.. look at Philly with Hakstol….🤷♂️
4everanger – Best job in sports is being the backup QB. Everybody loves the backup (except for the Giants and Geno) until he has to play. The second best job is being the backup catcher to a HOF like Johnny Bench.
The third best job in sports is now being an ex-Ranger. Like you said, all the warts get washed away once a player leaves MSG.
I hope Quinn getting the 2019 WJC job doesn’t take him out of the running for the Rangers because I just have the feeling he is going to make some NHL team happy they hired him.
FYI, Tony Granato received an extension through the 2022-23 season so I would say that takes him out of consideration.
I still say “Carp for Coach”! I can just see the post-game pressers now.
Word on the street is, magic number to get Tavares is 88 million for 7 years.
CCCP
i hope Brooklyn resigns him for at least that. they’ve won 1 series with him.bthe same amount of series that Vegas has won.
Love to see Philthy eliminated.
Hate to see Pens move on.

Good, one less college coach to worry about.
C’mon pens, end this series!

Not here, Papa.
Kucherpunk…I mean ev,
I simply don’t hate the pens. Not any where close to a favourite team but but they can play any style and have players I like on their roster, so no reason to hate them.
👍
One reason….crysby.
Another reason….tanking to get crysby.
Another reason… they already have two in a row and three in a decade….F THEM.
I would want anybody but Pitt to win the Cup.
(Except the Flyers)
Know why I love Torts? Well, for many reasons. But in this instance it’s because I think he’s the only NHL coach that still grows a playoff beard with his team. #ThatssoTorts
Can someone hit McTalking Penis Pierre hard in the throat, plz?
They also tanked to get Lemieux…
Not even about the Pens hate. Just want to see a new King crowned. Winnipeg if I had my choice. Maybe the Caps. Some kind of feel good story other than Smilin’ Mike and his boys who are already headed to the HOF.
Filthy scores.
Suck it, Wicky! 🤣
No series close at home for Pissburgh

Papa, you don’t want me getting into that stuff. Trust me.
And I’m not whining. As seen in the past and as is common knowledge, this place is not a good outlet for purely political discussions or comments.
I’d love to see the jets win it or Vegas. Jets are my first choice.
I’ll take a pens 3 peat any day over the punk aasen lightning winning it!!!!
I don’t understand why the big Tampa tantrum, Wicky… The Pens are a bigger rival and have done more damage to the Rangers, historically. And then there’s Skidney Crosby…
I’m fine with Vegas to win the Cup. They have not been around long enough to make many enemies. Basically I would like to see a team win it that has never won the Cup before.
AWFUL! Reversed a no-goal call on the stinking “Distinct Kicking Motion” Rule. That is the worst rule in hockey. They might as well let every kicked goal count, let them bat it in with their feet, hands, arms, head or whatever. Colorado got screwed.
The Hockey Gods have corrected the call… Colorado 2 Nashville 1

No tantrum, simply stating my preference in outcomes
I just liked the phrase “Tampa Tantrum”.
Once the rangers are out, I root for teams with players I really like that play more than one style. I don’t root for teams I hate (I have 4 hated teams), I don’t dont care where the teams are from that I do choose to root for.
It’s a catchy phrase
Sorry, one too many “don’t”s in there
I have 3 teams I hate. Flyers uber alles. Montreal with their 20-some Cups. And Devils. Many others I dislike, but those three…
Landeskog=beast!!!!!!!!!!
We had the same pre-draft odds as the Pens to get Crosby, so tanking alone didn’t get the Pens that pick. And only Norm would argue the Pens should have gone all out to win their last few games rather than lose to get Lemeuix!!
The kicked in rule is a farce. There is no consistency on the call. The old rule of not being able to direct the puck in with your skate made sense. You are supposed to play hockey with your stick. If they want more goal just let people kick it in.
For what it is worth, according to Larry Brooks, David Quinn is not out of the running for the Rangers job.

The simple reason to root for the Lightning – I’d rather have that 2019 draft pick be a first rounder than a second rounder. I’d rather Tampa win this year because their is the smallest of small chances they could have an off year next year and that pick could be better than at the tail end of the first round.
It isn’t personal, it is strictly (draft) business 🙂
Bettman fixed the 2004 draft whether you believe it or not. It was the only way to save mario and that rinky dink franchise from folding. You will never convince me of anything else. And I will again repeat myself for the the record no one is going to stop the pens from winning another cup UGH! I hate the pens!!!
I’ve seen a few anti Hakstoll comments. Not that I am a fan, but I have taken notice of the development of Provorov ( and others) on D, and Coutorier and others up front. With the direction the Rangers seem to be going, that’s the kind of coach you want.
In these playoffs I find myself not rooting for any teams, but against certain teams. I’m also very conflicted about Tampa. I can’t stand them, but I have been rooting for McDonaugh, and Girardi to play well. Miller I’m eh about.
Eli,
I have not doubt in my mind that the Crosby lottery was fixed. None.

It’s as obvious as the lips on cindy’s mug!
That was a very strong draft for goalies, Crosby and kopitar (went one before we picked) the studs up front and then some good but not grew d led by Letang, Yandle and pre-cyclops Staal. Wonder if Kopitar was even on the Rangers radar or not….guessing the latter.

And no doubt Crosby put them at another level, but they very well still could have been multiple cup winners without Crosby. They already had Malkin and took Jordan staal next year (one pick before Toews went). Never know of course
McDonut in a Tampa jersey and with no letter on it just looks so wrong.
That being said…. Go Tampa Bay Draft Picks!
Make sure the game ends at exactly five past Schneider!
