But first, the big news. ICYMI, our wait is finally over! Carp, along with some other local reporters, joined The Athletic NYC, which will launch on February 12. He will be the NY Rangers beat writer. There is no doubt, as we’ve learned over the years, they couldn’t find anyone better to do that. Not even close! Congratulations, Carp! And congratulations, boneheads!
We will keep this place open for now, and decide, as a group, what we want to do with it going forwards. It all depends on what the Athletic can offer in terms of our boneheaded needs. But one thing we know it can offer already. And that is the best reporter to write about our team around. Eat your heart out, Gunnett! And MSG too!
As for the game:
Rangers ( 25-20-5 ) vs Leafs ( 29-18-5 ), TV-MSG.
Our boys will be wearing their NYR Classic Jerseys.
First game after another long hiatus, and after the Western trip that was saved from being a complete disaster by them beating the Sharks. Now, the important stretch begins.
Cody McLeod is making his debut tonight. Doesn’t look like Matt Martin is playing, so, unless Auston Matthhews is in the mood to drop his gloves tonight, not sure Cody’s presence will be noticed. Remains to be seen.
Kampfer and Carey prucha’d.
Hank in net.

Totally agree on Grabner. He’s been amazing.
McLeod – I want you to start throwing your weight around without taking penalties. The perfect place to start is in our locker room.
The guys with the guts who stand up every night and answer the same unanswerable questions are the guys who would bring value to a strong team – Donuts, Hank, Nash.
Just me or anyone else notice that you have to click about six times to like a post?
I can never make it work when I try to like a post. Not sure why.
I can’t either. It wants me to log in to Word Press and I don’t want to do that.
Carp is sabotaging this place
😉
Sitoo – Henk had a great stretch from mid-Nov thru mid-Jan but seems off now.
It really doesn’t matter per se but agree both tenders have to be all world to scratch out a win the way the team is playing.
Despite the Rangers losing, today may have had the best Rangers news in quite some time, with Carp announcing his new gig. I thank all of the boneheads and others for keeping this site going and I hope you continue to do so until we know what Carp can offer at the American. I would like to add that the hockey knowledge that you all possess is beyond compare and the entertainment value is priceless. Congrats Carp and thank you Boneheads!!!
Can’t sleep so looked up some Hank stats:
Oct: 3-4-2/.898/3.21;
Nov: 9-2-0/.927/2.34;
Dec: 5-3-2/.936/2.27;
Jan: 4-4-0/.921/2.70.
He had 17 straight starts between Dec 1 and Jan 21 where he posted over a .900 sv %. And he somehow lost 5 games in December while posting crazy good numbers. Hank and Pavs have done yeoman work for the most part since Halloween with some obvious off nights (their combined last 4 starts). The size of the paycheck, whether it’s Hank’s big one or Pavs’ very reasonable one, is irrelevant to the reality of what is on the ice in front of them. I’m hoping Henrik can rebound and get back to all world form. But if they continue to play like they did tonight, I don’t see it happening and that’s a shame. With some structure in front of him, Hank would be in the Vezina conversation and the Rangers would be in the playoff hunt.

more brooks on urgency to sell
Last night’s Ranger opponent win their previous game 5-0. The Rangers next opponent win their previous game 5-0. Methinks we’re in for another doozy on Saturday.
