Both teams had a 5 day break called “bye” week. No idea why it should take 5 days to say goodbye to someone.
Game 7 for the Fishsticks, of course. Should be game 7 for our boys too. In fact all 3 games over the next 4 days should be game 7 since all three are against the Metropolitan Division opponents fighting for playoffs.
Since I’m writing this post on Friday and won’t be able to change it before the game I have no idea if there are any lineup changes. Kreider remains out long term, of course. From their afternoon practice it appears that Hayes might be back, and Smith and Carey ( replaced by Lettieri who was recalled back from Hartford ) are prucha’d. Kempfer is in.

Also amazed that they have not been able to come up with a better option than Desharnais, who gets bumped off the puck easier than Alexandre Daigle. AV starting Pavelec was right decision imo. He has been great in his last several starts and Hank has a bit of a history of not being at his best right off a break. Problem is the team looked like they quit at 3-1. Took Hank having a historic cheerleader moment to wake them up a bit.

In 25 minutes of ice, McD managed to be even for the game. Shatennkirk on the other hand, managed to be a minus 4 in 19 minutes. McD sucks, and Shatennkirk is a net positive.

In all honesty, I probably know a bit more about AV than most here because I watched the Canucks quite a bit when he coached them (not a fan of the team, just kesler, burrows, bieksa, Lapierre etc) and the way the Canucks played was a big big reason I wanted him here (my bad).
I still do not think he is a great coach. He is a better than average coach that has always had problems motivating and focusing his teams.
In Vancouver he never had to kick his team in the pants or light a fire under them, he had guys that would go out and throw some hits, start a couple of scrums, or get in a scrap and get the home crowd and team going. When he first came to New York and up until last season he still had that here, now he doesnt.
If the rangers want to stick with him, the gm needs to get him players that can help him.
Personally, I think the coach needs to take his team by the nutsack and take charge, but that’s not him and never has been. He needs to go.
