Both teams have been playing well lately. Washington won three in a row and is 12-5-0 in their past 17 games overall. The Rangers have won six of their past seven and 12 of their past 15.
Even though it’s still very early in the season, the way Metropolitan Division is shaping up, these are 4 point games.
I’m sure you’ve heard about those verbal fireworks started ( by design, no doubt) by Barry Trotz. You have to like what Kevin Shattenkirk had to say about it in his response. You also have to like what he’s done in NY so far. He has seemingly settled with Brady Skjei as his defensive partner, and is 5-15-20 in 27 games. Much more than what he has done for Washington in his short stay. Maybe this is the reason for Trotz’ bitterness? Let’s hope that Shattenkirk lights their goalie up tonight with a couple of goals and a few assists so that Barry Trotz can eat his heart out. 🙂
Henrik Lundqvist is expected to return back from his illness. Mika Zibanejad is still out. Kampfer prucha’d. Otherwise, same lineup.

Anyone realize how fast we went from a top three defense in the league to the New York Giants offensive line? Very.
40+ SOGs again. They got lucky on Tuesday. Not so much tonight. This is not sustainable. Hank will be like the goalie in Slapshot by the end of the season. These last two games are an indication they don’t have the players to compete with the top teams. They should be open to moving players at the deadline. They just don’t have the horses to make a run and just making the playoffs should not be the goal.
How many times have the Rangers come back from 2-3 goals down, tie it and then find a way to lose? Two sure bets in life, Rangers will start the game flat and will lose after they come back to tie it.

As I said earlier in the week it will be extremely difficult for the Rangers to make the playoffs if the teams in front of them keep winning.
