I wonder if this is the same refs as the other night. There letting the bruins get away with stick penalties that are as about as blatant as you can get.
We’re back to the basement again on special teams. 16 on pk (we moved up one tonight) and 18! on the pp.
Alex
did score 2 seconds after a pp and i think had another called back in recent games
still not good but some stats can be off a bit.
James G
Carp it’s not even about intimidation. It’s about getting torn to shreds in the post season. Bruins used the third period to chop slash and hack with their sticks and crash the net. Now maybe fighting through it and hanging on for the two points is acceptable for a Thursday night game in early March but you know better than anyone here that style of play is going to be the nail in their casket come post season. Even if they win a round there won’t be much of a team left to make it through the second
Alex
love to see mcd get the McDonald award
James G
Hell of a game by the captain tonight. He and Lundqvist are star of the game 1/1a imo.
Happy for buchnevich too. Can’t wait to hear AV interviewed about how “he’s a great kid that has a lot of positives to his game and it’s gonna help him tremendously in Hartford as he continues to go through the prOcess”
Norm Merton
Great block by McD late. And a breathtaking face-first dive by Zucc if the puck had gotten through.
James they will go down in the postseason because they’re not as good as PIT or WAS, not because they were beaten up. They lost last year because PIT was much better. they lost to TB the year before because they had four broken defensemen, not because they were outmuscled. The year before to LA because LA was better. IMO
Whoever wrote off Burrows, but the guy scored 2 goals in his first game for Ottawa. No “nervousness”, no “difficult adaptation to different system”. How about that?
James G
I won’t lie, to me that’s not a feel good win. bruins took advantage in the third. Figured out right away that they could get away with getting the sticks up high and slashing away while crashing Lundvists net at the other end and they did just that with little to no retaliation or defense against it. Glad it’s a big joke around here that they get called soft but if they draw Washington or Montreal first round they’re going to get shredded like the week old cabbage at a truck stop diner that’s having a special that includes cole slaw.
Which TV sports channel carries the Republican view of these games? Anyone?
James G
You’re right Carp. Those teams were/are all better than them. And ultimately that’ll be why they lose the series but they’d still have a better chance if they had the capability to wear down the opponent once the on the fly pretty boy offense won’t get the job done.
Idk about Montreal. They’re still plenty skilled even with King and Ott on the fourth line
Yemelin will be spinning around while Grabner and Kreider blow past him. And a few of their other stiffs on defense.
James G
I think if Buchnevich didn’t lose all that time w the back injury his role would be much different right now.
He’s obviously got offensive capabilities that belong in this lineup and not as a fourth liner. But make me a bet that the coach will play him over a veteran come post season
And if they ever get a PP, the Rangers will be happier than Mintreal that Ott is in the game
James G
I guess I’d feel a little better about facing the likes of Montreal or even Pittsburgh if I could remember the last time the Rangers best either team..

Certainly hope you’re right, Carp
O’cooscoos
Carp is almost always right. That’s why he’s a pain in the ass sometimes. 🙂
SN
Habs problem has been scoring. Something about their D not able to transition puck. Hmmm
.
Alex – good call on McD for McDonald award
.
Carp – Grabber on 4th would make sense.
.
Need to separate Zucc and Kreider somehow
O’cooscoos
Who was the last guy who panicked with Stepan bearing down on him?
Girardi needs some rest to be ready for the PO. Klein probably be successfully replaced by Smith. Fast and Grabner is my biggest concern. Pimpel ,BTW, wasn’t too bad, but Pirry was. Buch’s Achilles heel is still a NHL’s physical condition – kid can’t win one fight for puck anywhere on court, definitely not a PO material.but I would keep him in the roster for his situational vision and occasional brilliance in shots and passes.
However, I’m inclined to go with James on this one.
Ohh-Baby!
After a brutal 1st period, a nice win.
Gorton, (and Carp), looking pretty smart right now. Smith settled in and was exactly as advertised. Shot-suppresser. A little snarl. Looks to be a good skater.
SO happy Gorton didn’t trade Lindberg or Buch or Skjei!
Ohh-Baby!
Carp-Great to be able to read your articles again!
Jpg’s sister
Remember when you had to wait all night to see rangers highlights on ESPN? That is NHL network tonight. hank ties for 10th on his birthday. I didn’t even hear them mention that they played
Just to be clear, coos, if I could choose from, say, Adam Graves and Rick Nash … or, say, J.T. Miller and Derek Stepan, i’m taking Graves and Miller. Those guys play a game I prefer … that said, I think a skilled, fast team has a better chance to beat the Rangers than a big lumbering team.
wicky229
Got home late, just finished watching the game….
–
I voted shampoo boy, easy peasy jimmy vesey, and I-95…in no particular order.
–
HM to machine
–
Classy classy classy Montreal
–
Now to go back and read the comments and see if there is a “run out of the bldg by bigger team” exaggeration comment or two.
–
Speaking of comments, anyone hear hank’s post game with Boucher? Hank said they needed to add grit and physicality so smith helps in that. I wonder why an NHL player thinks he knows more about hockey than norm? 😉
wicky229
Caught up on comments…knew what I’d see, you guys never disappoint;)
–
Norm
Yes sir, it was a good hit.
–
Silver lining is they can make a couple of “hockey trades” in the off season regardless of playoff outcome.
–
I also think even though AV got an extension, a first round exit and he might be canned.
Ohh-Baby!
I get it Carp. Nevertheless.
UKRanger
Absolute beauty by Zuke, don’t get many hits like that these days. As for the game, Hank should be arrested for grand larceny, he absolutely stole those points for us.
St Pete Eli
Coos to answer your question the last guy was Stepan!
St Pete Eli
SN I’ve been saying that about Zucc and Kreider for awhile now. Gotta separate those 2. And there must be something wrong with The. There’s no bite to his game, looks lost again.
O’cooscoos
As per usual, can’t disagree with your analysis, Carp. Some intelligent feistiness good, lumbering bad.
378 responses to “Rangers at Bruins…It’s Go Time!”
Put that guy on the first line!
Really brilliant goal
Oh My God. That might be the goal of the year. Gorgeous.
Filthy
That was much beautifuler.
And now from Sweden with love!
Yeah, Sweet Hands Oscar
Told ya mama
Oscar expresses talent.
Unreal by Lindberg. What happened to Brendan Smith? Looked like he simply fell down.
Got to love SMith jacking the guy before the goal sequence
.
And now on to the pP that looks like poo poo
3 for last 50 on PP? Great googamooga!
Now, important not to let shorty in…
Cripes that was some serious puck handling…..
Machine
That was a cheap arse move by Pesterneck
Smith better get some payback
It works evrock, you’re right!
Nash doesn’t get a call cause he is such a wuss
Two uncalled slashes by the Bruins tonight.
Send Buch back to Hartford to learn how to bleed
Nash’s stick broke in half, ref right there, no call.
Nash rarely gets a call
WTF!
Holden watching another puck go into the net
Fugg
Now that’s the defense we expect.
Back to work, Boys.
Well, unfortunately the Rangers still have the Holden-Staal pair.
…fug…..thanks be we got the first two….hold on now boys!!!!
What is Staal doing??
Horrendous
Good effort by Staal. Wish he hadn’t made it.
Staal absolutely brainless.
💩
That little piece of Marchand
I wonder if this is the same refs as the other night. There letting the bruins get away with stick penalties that are as about as blatant as you can get.
Amazing amount of non-calls in this game. Even by the butman’s league standarts.
As usual, we let the Ball of Hate just glide around unbothered.
I haven’t complained about the refs all year but these last two games are like the last few years, been brutal.
Will Brendan Smith make a pass to anyone in a white jersey tonight?
Feel sorry for B.D. boy, but it was absolutely savable.
Nash only hits the net when he’s close to the goal line and the circle.
Foxwoods Five Prevent D
Slashing a guy’s stick in half is a slashing, except when it is not.
Haven’t seen a good butt end or a spear in ages.
Wick will love to see that Smith hit earlier.
Del Zotto is pathetic on D. Soon a UFA. Guaranteed some fool GM will pay him for his 4 goals.
McD!
Rangers look like shiznit again. Way to get it out of the zone. Smh
After this game I consider a regulation game win equal to a SO. Hank desperate there to keep that one out…..
Another horrible Dzone sequence with Zucc and Kreider on the ice
McD > King
Meaning just now….not at last goal
The ol six in the blue paint play
Oriental Fireplace
Will the Bs get 1, 2 or 3?
Salmon Joe just clueless
Someone is trying to kill me…..
Henrik rin over and Brendan Smith, fitting right in, does squat.
Good call
Thanks, Backus!!
Decline it!
What a moron, think he can get away with that?!
Hank with theatrics, I’ll take it.
That’s an interference whether he attempts to avoid him or not. Quit bitching. He doesn’t have any right to that territory.
Hank scarified a lot tonight and deserve a win.
💩💩
If the announcers had any credibility with that penalty, they’d shut up.
Heady play by Lundqvist. Left some arm out there to get hit.
Just be careful, guys. No risk, please.
Good possession PP
Like the 2 Dmen out there
Nash closes his eyes and shoots
That was offsides anyway. Such should’ve faked the shot and then gone around rask anyway.
Thought it was offside too
Solid win
Butch that hitch should have gotten that biscuit deep into B’s zone
Norm, he still mostly got his body. The arm was more to just make sure the ref saw it.
Happy Birthday to Henrik. he earned these points tonight.
Go blue jackets
Play for the road point!
Happy Birthday, Henrik!
Rangers obviously intimidated by a big physical team again.
Yes yes yes yes yes!!!!! Pardon me while I go send a deliciously nasty email to the Boston cousins…..SO happy for Hank!!!!
2-point larceny. Hard to say who the #1 star is…
Ovah!
Rangers WIN! 60 minutes of whining, shot to Hell!
Grab 2 & run!
Rangers Win……The Rangers Win!
Rangers get out played by the bruins and Hank stands on his head and the rangers squeak out a victory, just like old times.
Great game by Henk
Happy Birthday
Were we not on the PP late, Chinese Conflagration for sure.
Must win and they musted it.
Hank, Veasy, once there was a man named Oscar.
AV says all the time that the Rangers play the same way, home or away. They most certainly do not.
Happy Birthday Hank. Have a Win & a move into a tie with ole Grant.
Oscar and Butch with two beauts
Don’t be floored if Buchnevich goes back down as soon as Grabner is ready.
tied for 2nd in Metro but thankfully 3 games in hand
89 shots in the Fla-Philthy game…2 goals.
Carp – do you think it makes sense for Pumps and/or Puree to be on 4th?
Happy Birthday, Henrik
C-dubb
My breathing is now back to normal…..Hank could get up to number 8 at least if the rest of the team gives an assist.
Henk, McD and Oscar in that order
Oops….bad math, number 9.
And I love that song…..ah ah ah ah ah!
And….that’s all for me tonight kids….have a great night! LGR!!!!
Lennon’s favorite number.
It’s fun to complain. If we had 60 points, it wouldn’t be that much fun.
Something wrong with THE. Guy has to be playing hurt.

Kreider did have a maintenance day, wouldn’t be surprising.
Rangers are 0 for 19 on the pp in their last 7.
3 for last 52 ????????
#27 will be an old man at 30 the way this team abuses him with TOI and affords him precious little partner help.
We’re back to the basement again on special teams. 16 on pk (we moved up one tonight) and 18! on the pp.
