All in would have been Shattenkirk but they went to plan B to address defense..can always take a run at Shattenkirk in summer and still have first rounder
BobbyO
they are saying Smith will be paired with McD
Rangers Report 2.0

Chayka: “I was joking with Kenny Holland, we’re probably tied with number of times we’ve been a seller.”
Wick, I think (I know) Gorton’s smart enough to know his team isn’t the favorite. But it certainly is in the next level behind WAS-PIT-CHI. And pretty high among the teams in that level. Maybe first. The plan was that this year would be a reload, and he sticks with it. Good GM. They can still beat almost any team in the East in a best-of-seven, but not likely to do it in multiple series.
James G
I’m not a fan of anyone anymore. Everyone’s overpriced, dmen aren’t asked to play D anymore, can’t make a trade without giving up 7 first rounders, no stars in the making coming down the pipe line, and now Klein, Girardi, Zibanejad, Fast and Grabner all have health concerns as the team has had all year. Probably a one and done post season and then another early off season where we can be at each other’s throats about how to fix the problem, if it can be fixed and whether Norm and Wicky are going to have it out in an octagon before Mcgregor and Mayweather finally fight. Top that cynical display, Eric

Crap The only problem I have w what you just said is that while they were for a brief time on the same level as those three teams they still weren’t good enough. Not Gortons fault by any means but nevertheless a fact. It’s a transitional time.I guess it’s just the reality we have to face.
To keep it simple C3- he’s telling us “don’t get your hopes up”..and in a way he’s kind of saying “trust me”…which I do..for now. If he finds a way to draft Timothy Liljegren or at least Callan Foote I’d be more optimistic.
more like neutral to me but sometimes you have to take a step back before taking two steps forward.
BobbyO
I think Gorton is telling us Slats is no longer in charge…. good thing for Rangers long term…they are saying Smith has a nasty streak..hope they re right
I hope so to, also hope his knee holds up. Smith hurt it a few months ago, missed some time, came back, missed a little more time and now wheres a knee brace.
O’cooscoos
What makes me think that Gordon is effectively (along with AV) running the show is that Slats would be reluctant to ice a team totally devoid of muscle.
SN I wouldn’t call it sitting in limbo. Bringing in Zibanejad, Vesey and Buchnevich while giving Skeji the chance to learn from his mistakes and staying patient with Hayes and Miller are not moves that were going to make this the best team in the NHL but you know as well as I do it’s a hell of an improvement going forward. There was no quick fix on D and hopefully the summer will open some doors that help him to retool the blueline along with tweaking the fourth line. Plus they’re drafting in the first round since Jimmy Carter was in office : )
I don’t think they are going in the wrong direction, but I don’t think they are quite at the level of Washington, Minnesota, or a few other teams. Not top 5 at this point, but I’d say top 10. I think the real opportunity to potentially move certain players and address areas of need is after the season during drafts and free agency.
–
All that being said, I’d of had zero problem with the addition of a forward or two, for the right price, at the deadline.
–
I also think gorton has done a pretty good job to this point, this offseason will go a long way in my “opinion” of his job performance.
I don’t even need a dynasty, I just want to see one more Cup before I go to the big video review booth in the sky
St Pete Eli
Wow just got home I see nothing of any significance took place. Looks like we are perfectly positioned for a 1st round exit. Good thing we didn’t add any grit!
Olga Folkyerself
Chicago trades for Oduya. “We’re putting the band back together…”
James – referring to the trade deadline. As long as Slatapus is not involved, all is good. Added some muscle on the back end (Smith) but don’t think the 4th line put out last night is ready for prime time. Pumps and Puree are not contributors. Puree could barely stay on his skates last night.
.
Since this tam is not raising any trophies, smart not to take on any contracts to be exposed in draft.
.
If he can manage this roster during the offseason and get rid of the anchor twins on the backline, the sun will be shining brighter.
not good or accurate to lump those 2 together. but i know your biases.
regarding buyouts no way they buy both out. be happy if they do so for girardi – however lots of money in that buyout against the cap so its by no means a freebie.
tbassler
Buchnevich scores in OT. Pack win. he had 2G 1A

and lost in all of this “excitement” the fact that Michael Kostka was traded to the Calgary Flames today! Shame on you people for not being on top of this!
I think they will buy out Girardi, but it will be a tough call, and a dead cap-space hit. So no chance they buy out Staal too. Plus I think Staal is fine on the second pair and more than fine as a third pair.
SN
How was your steak sir?
Fine
Really?
Yup…fine.
Would you mind providing more details.
OK…it sucked.

Oh…I rarely go there. Only to talk to you, Carp 🙂
ILBSTER!! I saw your greeting and kindly returning a hello albeit tardy!
The Rangers have drafted so well for so long I had to give up any draft pics. However, doesn’t Smith possibly allow McD to have a great partner? If they are better defensively, the forwards can be that much more dangerous. I like having Smith, not losing any current forward and definitely not losing anyone like Gropp or god forbid we lose Sean Day. Day is having his best season to date. He had a distraction that made his game suffer as he admitted…something with his brother, who he was close with, going to prison for extended time. Plus he was only 16/17 at the time. NYR could have hit a jackpot there if he continues his path. Well worth the risk as he was pinned for a first rounder initially. Also, what if Ryan Graves makes the team as a third D next year. Now we are looking much better on D and offense is untouched.
LGR!!! What do i know…im just a positive petey!! 🙂
This season seems to be playing out like last season. A fast start followed by a mediocre streak and then a hot streak up to the deadline. Hopefully it ends better. At least they could be more competitive while losing a playoff series. Need to retool the D and add some toughness over the summer. Buch Vesey and Skjei will be better next year. I’m hoping they catch fire in the playoffs but my expectations are not that high.
Pablo Diablo
Wolfpack again is dead last in their division. When will Gernander finally get fired? This is ridiculous, I have never seen such loyalty to a garbage coach.

The Islanders will end up in the midwest Quad Cities and they won’t change their name…
Islanders ..good luck on Randall’s Island in 2020…your on site pub should be named Popeye Doyle’s
We had Fontaine, he went to the oilers, we now have a beck
John Tavares…come on over! we got a building..a rink…bathrooms…and a bridge
Yzerman does it again. Flipped Streit to Pittsburgh.
my bad …BECK …more than a beer in Germany wish it was Barry
Hainsey..Streit…man PITT is reaching
No big, fisty, burly men to uphold the Broad Street Bullies reputation of this franchise? Oh, wait…
Corrado too, how many D do they need?
Giroux might be a fisty-man, depending on who you believe on the Ottawa police force.
Would’ve given a 4th for Dwight King. Even just to have in the press box.
Alright, kids. These are your 2016-2017 New York Rangers!
Pittsburgh traded Fehr. More addition by subtraction.
Stafford for a conditional 6th, I may have paid that price. I haven’t watched him in a while, though.
islanders are tanking
Korpedo to Columbus. Another player traded under Torts’ watch reunited with him in Columbus.
sounds like Neil is scuba diving on deadline day
Stafford for a 6th round conditional to Bruins
The Atlantic got a little better today
Big fan of yzerman
Miss Stafford, the voluptuous home room teacher …
Yzerman’s better than, say, Snow or Hextall?
Montreal got slower.
lmao George’s first…
maybe someone knocks off the Craps..and the BJ’s…
Looks like you’ve got a hole in your sneaker there. what are those, canvas?
I gots to get my Mark Twain Bobblehead!
If you can get a Zucc gnome on eBay, I’ll bet those will be available too.
Tavares to snow, see ya, bye
I’d love one of those twain bobble heads too
I didn’t hit puberty til the 9th grade. That’s what gave me my speed. Besides, if I got a head start why didn’t Mr. Bevilacqua stop the race?
New Single just dropped by Tavares….” Heaven must be missing a Center…”
Doan is all in for the rebuild…Yotes to be revelant in 2022 while in Seattle
I spent last years deadline in Victoria’s Secret browsing and touching the merchandise before I was asked to leave..this year..not so exciting
You ready boys?
Yes, Mr. Bevilacqua
This isn’t a complaint, but I think the rangers “brass” doesn’t feel they are serious contenders. Definitely not a day they went “all in”.
I’m glad they didn’t actually still pissed over the 2 picks from yesterday to DET
Man, those Seinfeld quotes… definitely missed those. (Eyes roll)
The rangers 4th line ending the season and potentially early in the playoffs…pirri (yuck) machine (yay) puemple (yuck)
More like the AHL trade deadline today..

Gotta give him credit, that’s pretty funny.
Not a fan of shattenkirk at any time

Soooo…. What is Gorton telling us here?
I just called Carp crap. That’s terrible. i’m gonna sue Apple for this.

Not sellers, not buyers
Sitting in Limbo
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. I trust Gorton but it will take him some time to fix this team and head them in the right direction.
i think they’re headed in the right direction already.
more like neutral to me but sometimes you have to take a step back before taking two steps forward.

yea, slats is still old school, he would have done what the canadiens did today.
In Gorton we trust.
“You can’t trust anyone”. – “Anyone? Even you?” – “Me you can trust” (Muller – Head of GESTAPO).

Isn’t he the guy who always yelled DY-NO-MITE ?
Rangers 2-1 vs. Caps, one to play; 1-2 vs. Pens, two left; 1-1 vs. Hawks. Not all bad.

Buchnevich will make a great AHL star 😛
Wicky was all over it on twitter, C3.
Buchnevich also had five shots on goal. Bring him back, IMO.
