The Rangers and Panthers played an early afternoon game at MSG today, though many might have thought it a slumber party. Florida came out of the gates shooting – 15 SOG in the first period. The Rangers? Still doom scrolling on the bench while making 4 SOG. Not to be outdone, the second period saw the Panthers have just 3 SOG to the NYR 8. Was I the only one who heard the organist playing lullabies?
The only scoring was in the third period, started by recent call up Sykora (2) who netted his second NHL goal and first NHL fight (though it was more of a pushing match). This one was a tip of a Fox (36) shot coming at 05:10, Laba (13) with the secondary. Sheary (5) put the Rangers up 2-0 with a breakaway SHG at 11:14, assisted by JT Miller (31). The final goal for the NYR came at 16:06, Fox (6) with the ENG, assisted by Borgen (9). The lone Panther goal was by Samoskevich (7) at 19:19, ending the shutout chance for Shesterkin.
Game summary below:

The Rangers close out March with a game against the Devils on Tuesday night, 31 March at MSG, 19:00 EDT. MSG 2, MSGSN with the telecast.

Heave Ho, 2 in a row.
The only guys who wanted to win today were Sykora, Sheary, and Shesterkin. I have no doubt Sheary will get an extension. My eyes are bleeding!
Torts to Vegas
Wow, get your popcorn ready! Talk about tossing a bomb with a lit fuse into a locker room
💖 Vegas now
Imagine that Sheary gets the hat. I’m going to eat gravel!
NHl is just better with Tortorella in it
game summary fails to identify how many days it’s been since Igor’s last shutout…
Who’s the next patsy that lays down for the Rangers?
Big tough cats laid down like a bunch of puzzies. Thought big tough guys win games, don’t lay down like puzzies?!?
Igor let the game in Toronto slip away. He may have won this one. Kats had the better of the play.
Sakura, Chalmers, Laba, Perault…play with heart and enthusiasm….can’t get mad at that.
Now that Sheary is awake they will sign him for 2 years and 1 million 🤢🤮
YES! WE WON!
5th overall pick here we come!
Some teams tank for a brighter future—this hockey club somehow finishes just good enough to ruin their draft pick.
Truly committed to mediocrity on every level. I heard we’re raising a banner for that.

It’s the Ranger way my friend. Get used to disappointment.
@CCCP
As a longtime Rangers fan, I’ve come to accept short-term pain for… erm, more pain long-term.
“Igor let the game in Toronto slip away. He may have won this one…”
I believe it was more a question of Panthers not trying too hard to score. There were so many whiffs around the net, I started to think I was watching baseball.

I respect the consistency. Why settle for a rebuild when you can have an endless renovation?
Give Sheary the C.
Did not want a W but Sykora brings energy to bottom 6 and Fortescue does not look out of place
It’s all just garbage time. It’s nice to see the rookies, but what they are doing should be taken with a grain of salt.
Florida still brings a heavy forecheck and Fortescue looked fine. He can move the puck
Sheary looked dynamic yesterday. Drury needs to sign him to a 4×4 contract of course with a NMC.
I fear you are right about Sheary. The fact that he continues to get major minutes indicates that Sully sees him as part of the future. He will take minutes from Sykora or Kartye next year. There is no reason he should be playing.
I am not being sarcastic, right? I actually believe these idiots will do this. He’s not playing him with Miller to send him packing over the summer. This organization are professionals at shooting themselves in the foot time and time again.
There was no Igor shutout info because EV did not end in a post-game write up!
Everyone looks great, so refreshing how great everyone looks…all you need to know about this stretch of game is Sheary is scoring goals. That is the only data point that is needed to show that this is not top tier NHL level play.
Do the games matter to see the pups against NHL caliber comp? Sure. Would that be the primary driver of assessing their ability against a full lineup of NHL caliber talent…no.
This time of the season for the also rans feature blended NHL/AHL lineups. To note, Othman scored for the Flames…
i don’t see him taking minutes from Kartye. If he’s here it will be on 4th line
Bobbyo
He’s not on the 4th line now he’s playing with Miller.
talking bout next year
Why are we waiting for next year?
What is most painful is that the Filth are playing meaningful games instead of planning golf with Gritty
good question Pete..i guess they don’t think anyone else in Hartford is ready for a look. Would like to see Roobroeck get some games
Quite the battle out west too for the last wild card spot – 0.521 LAK/SEA, NAS .520 and SJS 0.514. SJS and SEA have quite a few games in hand too.
Sheary/Nephew.
Lets go Kings
If the Rangers are looking to make the playoffs next year, you will most certainly see Sheary, or someone Sheary like on the team. You are not going to see a Chmelar, Edstrom (clearly), Sykora, Rempe 4th line. You are going to have a new 4th line center, and at least one veteran 4th line type player on the team. That may well be Sheary, or Sheary plus.
“Lets go Kings”
OK, but some are saying “No Kings”. Which is it?
We need a physical 4th line. Sheary is about as physical as the stay puff marshmallow man.
Chmelar will be here …also think Edstrom has a shot at 4C –not alot out there center wise unless you want to overpay for a Laughton/Haula etc
Chmelar is Rempe, minus the side show act. Edstrom is being healthy scratched right now!
but he’s big and fast he should be auditioning now. JT will probably be on wing next year
JT will be at center. He and Zibanejad will be the 1/2.
Carey I hope you are wrong !…they need speed at center or at a minimum get them more speed on wings. Like Kartye speed wise and he’s been great but not sure he’s top 6
If Sheary igets a regular next season, they are going for early tank.
That said, the top 6 failures in first half is what torpedoed this season
BobbyO,
I’m assuming there is going to be a center acquired when the finally trade Trocheck. Hypothetically your centers could be, 93/8/42, and one of Kaspar,Stramel, or Yurov.
lets hope its Yurov
I think Chmelar is a massive upgrade from Rempe. I love the effort that Rempe brings, but IMO but he does not have the movement, hands and hockey sense that Chmelar has.
And the times Chmelar dropped the gloves he didn’t get hammered like Rempe has on occasion.
Do the boneheads think someone will claim Rempe if they put him on waivers during training camp?
I still like Rempe. May not be the most gifted hockey player but I love his enthusiasm and hustle. A lot of other stuff can be taught. So, I may be the only one….but me thinks he has value.
Richis. You can’t teach talent. He’s enthusiastic but never in the NHL.guess
Brodude’s agent getting him some press:

Off topic can anyone offer a quick primer why the Blackhawks are still so bad this deep into the rebuild? 6 years or so since they put together a 0.500 season, still bottom of the standings.
at wwpd: I don’t know about the Blackhawks, but the Sabres went 15 straight years missing the playoffs until this year. Poor draft picks and bad ownership? They must of had three rebuilds.
Not so fun fact: two years ago, The Panthers, Rangers, and the Canucks finished first in their divisions. Now, all three are in last! As a Roman slave once said to Caesar, “It’s fleeting”.
Azzdancers D looking good…
Aspinall scored 3 points, 2 goals & 1 assist in Flint Firebirds victory 10-0 this night. What a freeken shot
Iceddancers lose 8-3 after being ahead 2-0 vs. the Penquins. Wish we had their head coach who was asst coach this past season.
Loneranger
No worries we have the great and powerful OZ Sullivan! By the way I was screaming for Muse. But we chose the Old Vet instead. We sign Muse, and Sheary is where he belongs in the AHL.

Gudas the dirtbag got manhandled by lightweight Domi
Later gets the business from perfetti and McCabe
Guess gudas is only tough when hitting unsuspecting players with dirty hits
Though, credit for him playing despite recent injury and taking his medicine
@corporal clegg: my sense is that he took his beating without throwing a punch intentionally. He may have figured that if he beat up Tie’s kid, the payback might escalate to one of the skilled kids on Anaheim.
BTW, unsurprisingly, Othmann has started out with Calgary by getting a point in each of his first two games. Of course the first was an assist with 8 seconds left in a 7-3 win and the second was a goal to cut Colorado’s lead to 5-1 in a 9-2 loss in which he tied for team lead with a -3.
I don’t care about ex-Rangers. I actually want to see more ex-Rangers starting with Sheary.
Gudas wanted to atone for his sins, he decided he’d be Domi’s punching bag. For the sake of the sport, they both should have been handed a game misconduct. I don’t find these staged fights entertaining at all.
Same lineup tonight but three goalies doing synchronized skating at praccy so don’t know who gets the net tonight (yet)
🤣🌿🤣
BW I read that Mothman was happy for the new opp and that he just didn’t get enough of a chance with the NYR in 40 odd games because he wasn’t on the top six.
Dude if you were that good you would have shown something, anything, in the bottom six too, no?
Sullivan will ask the goalies to play rock paper scissors to win the starting job.
👁gor first off the ice
Drury does not want a top 5 pick. Way too much pressure for a GM with a double digit IQ.
the higher the pick, the higher the value
Otter was spouting off prior to season how he trained over the summer with McDavid and other NHL studs and he was ready for a good season… wake up brother
Can’t wait until Ranger fans give Meeka the extra effort award …the guy who made no effort last season
I remember when some on here were trying to run Mika out of town because he was “always hurt”.
Since returning from the busted leg, and including time missed for a concussion in 17/18, he has played in 655/699 games or 93.7%. Starting with the 20/21 season, he has played in all but two games – the missed were for child birth and coach resting in the final game of the season.
how many did he really miss last season?
He also took the game off when Kreider returned. He has been good this year though and his contract doesn’t look that bad now. He will likely finish as the #2 all time Ranger goal scorer.
Otter got multiple opportunities and failed each time. The bar was pretty low. All he had to do was get a point occasionally and be defensively responsible. Drury did him a solid and gave him a chance to start over. He would have had to go through waivers after camp next year. Drury did ok by getting a guy with some upside and more runway to develop.
Owen Sound must be really bad. Flint has outscored them 29-2 in three games. They did beat Flint a few weeks ago
I don’t think the Rangers have a top line yet. The problem I presently see is that Perreault is just not ready for top line minutes. He may be next year if he can get stronger and quicker. Right now he seems to be running out of gas.
Also, I am still not convinced LaCoast can play at a high level game in game out against opponents top lines. I guess time will tell.
He has the skill
Does he have the will
Would he prefer to chill
When pressure’s in his grill
Can he climb the hill
And fill the bill
St.Pete….resident hockey poet.
More Conor Sheary fluffing on the pre-game; enough! This is top shelf gaslighting
Is Sully complaining the fans are complaining about playing a has been because married to his niece
Conor Sheary
Is a dingleberry
