Professor E3 gave the class of Boneheads the following homework assignment to solve, where ¢g(t)¢ is the goal scoring function:
¢S = \int_{0}^{60} g(t) dt¢
Did everyone get the correct answer of ¢0¢?
It was that type of game again. Though the final score seems to reflect an uncompetitive game, the Islanders were not exactly lighting things up either. Lee (10) scored at just 00:58 into the game, unassisted. Soucy had a chance to tie it at 09:18 of the third when he was awarded a penalty shot but failed to put it past Rittich – don’t expect to see Soucy as an early go to in a shootout.
The next and only other score came at 19:43 of the third when Holmstrom (8) put one in the empty net. The NYI had five power plays, the NYR three. A night of exceptional PKs or a night of dismal PPs? 🤷♂️
Certainly the one thing that was clear – the Rangers were once again not prepared to come out ready and at full speed for the start of the game. The answer to that must be some type of difficult zen koan as at least four coaches have failed to solve it. They can try again on Monday night!
Game summary below:

The Rangers will continue on the road with a tilt against division rival Carolina Hurricanes Monday night, 29 December at 19:00 EST. Telecast by MSG and FDSNSO.

I was out to dinner in NJ at a Brazilian place last night. Put the game on my phone but didn’t pay super close attention. If I had, I might not have been able to hold down the endless about of meat going on my plate 🤣
This team seems rarely able to play both offense and defense in the same game – always one or the other.
The NYI back up is actually having a very good season 9-2, 2.25 GAA, 0.919 SV% in 14 games nothing to sneeze at
Roster freeze ended last night. Friedman said to expect some interesting names on waivers today.
Brett Berard has been assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
The forward version of Zac Jones.
Islanders fans taking to social media like they just won the Stanley Cup last night. They have to be told the Rangers actually aren’t very very good.
Admiral
It’s time to start saying “they are very bad” instead of “they are not very good.”
Top 6 too slow and the only line that can skate doesn’t get minutes …put Laba in PP to retrieve pucks at least..the rest don’t seem interested
Berard, Othman and Eyegore with same amount of goals
Meeka the baker was a turnover machine last night; cannot make plays in tight spaces. He should be first to move; has to be a market given his position flexibility ability to play in all situations; throw in Otter as a deal sweetener – ha!
Beez – As JR would say, ‘must have cost you a brazillion dollars.’
* JR Roenick, Doctor Malaprop.
Beez – additionally the rangers can expect to score the limit as x > infinity of f(x) where f(x) = e^(-x).
Messier, Graves, babe Ruth, Mickey mantle, and Eddie Eddie Eddie all have the same number of goals as The Otter.
Ought Otter – Mika boo – purr-oh
Laugh until you cry – Laba – no Hands cools
Johnny B sucks – tro – radish
Nepotism – carrick – rempe
I knew this was coming it was just a matter of time. Imagine what it’s going to take to dig out from under this pile of rubble?
Funny writeup with the mathematical equation
Werenski to IR for the blues
Man. Lots of injuries this year
(Blue jackets)
The ship be sinking… though the last wild card spot is right there for grabbing.

That is the ideal picture of the state of the Ranger organization!
Sabres won 8th in a row (ducks)
It’s Buffalo’s longest winning streak since winning 10 straight from Nov. 8-27, 2018.

Rangers need a long winning streak…how do the Gmen look? Lousy I hope!!
That Soucy penalty shot attempt. Woof! I get he’s a defenseman but as an NHLer you don’t have something in your back pocket to break out there other than a weak wrister from the hash mark? A little something to make the goalie move a bit?
Gmen blowing #1 pick

Ranger win streak is usually around 1 game.
The only thing exciting about Rangers hockey this year is Michelle Gingras!
I was hoping for a marek malik moment!

Where is newbear? He was funny. And that one cat that loved our sexy boys? He was posy posy. No neggy!!
G-Men can’t win for losing. They are up 34-10 with <3 minutes to go.
Gmen keeping their playoff hopes alive with a convincing win.
Vegas put guys on IR. The Giants played Dart who ran for 2 TDs. Giants don’t even know how to tank.
LOL Coos
Another game where I didn’t waste my night to watch another pathetic effort. Went to dinner after first period, since it was clear they didn’t come out to play once again.
I expected a shutout as soon as they put up 7 the other night. Apparently, putting up 7 goals allows them to mail it in the next game.
I feel confident that Drury will do something very stupid soon, as those first round draft picks are burning a hole in his pocket. He wants people (and Dolan)to believe this roster is only one player away from a championship. to admit otherwise would be an indictment of his work to this point.
Y-A-W-N
Barzel with a 5 minute major slash
What a wuss of a play. Dirtbag
Marchment trips the Boy Wonder and Barzal is a little bi-atch and two handed slash across his ankles. Azzdancers new shiny toy up for a rude couple of years if he can’t deal with the rough stuff. Sam I am rode him into the wall and the wanted him arrested.
Good thing Rangers don’t have anyone that skilled to warrant such protection…
I’m taking an optimistic view which will probably be proved wrong. It goes like this. Drury made the offer on Q Hughes at Dolan’s demand. He knew the Canucks wouldn’t take it but wanted to show Dolan what the price would be to acquire the “star” he wants. This assumes that Drury is aware of how destructive this type of trade would be to the future of the team and is looking for a way to avoid it while keeping his job. This is probably is more nimble that Drury can be and also carried the risk of the offer being accepted. It also assumes Drury knows what he is doing which there is very little evidence of.
Very generous take imho. Dreary knows Dolan only wants to see the ‘stars’ on the marquee thinking it’s a show, not a blood sport. Esp w Bread in his way out and Laught not becoming the next Broadway Idol.
If you go to games, more of a sing along than a hockey game with the crowd coming these days.
Just a friendly reminder that Dolan family from Long Island took complete control of MSG in 1995…
Drury knew the defense needed to be fixed
I keep trying to tell you all we are screwed as fans for many years to come. The team is old, slow, and the cupboard is relatively bear. Drury is clueless and will do something stupid. Again mortgaging what’s left of the future to try and make the playoffs, (if they are close) and get Jimmy D is 2 home games. That my fellow boneheads is the reality we face.
He won’t do something stupid and most here won’t mention it. Any trades will be hockey trades and he will try to move Bread and possibly Trocheck
Drury created a team with 8 shutouts against
And 7 when we only scored 1 goal
Boring, slow hockey
Does he get to fire another coach in about a year
Your posts are boring …Sully isn’t going anywhere. This was never a go for the cup year its a transition year where the goal would be to make the playoffs and they could still possibly do that. More likely they don’t because he will try to move Bread and possibly Trocheck
I think we heard the “(insert coach name) isn’t going anwhere” twice before as well.
Dolan only cares about squeezing as many dollars as possible out of Bricks and Rangers. That may or may not require a “marquee” name.
paying a 3rd fired coach and a new one isn’t the best way to squeeze dollars
These are all just opinions, but i agree BobbyO on a couple of things. This is a team in transition, and Sullivan is not going anywhere. I will take that one step further. If Drury does get fired, I think it’s a strong possibility that Sullivan becomes the GM.
Carey you think in a dual role or would he just move upstairs? If he had a competent assistant GM that could be workable. Wouldn’t be my first choice of how to do it but I’d take Sully over Drury.
Sully upstairs with Torts back behind the bench!
It’s how Drury completes the transition that could be interesting. I think it has to be through trades. Put aside the NTC guys. The two guys they can trade that could possibly change the look of the team are, Schneider, and Trocheck. Those are the two guys who could bring you back the most value.
A dual role, until he finds his guy.
it has to be trough trades because there is little available via FA and no one is gonna want to bring their family to NY
Drury wants those 2 home games
So the picks are at risk
He didn’t want them last deadline
Drury knows 2 years no home playoff games will not be well thought of by Dolan
So Miller, Mika and Bread have the NMC
You can move Lafreniere, Cuylle, Trocheck, Laba, Perreault. You aren’t getting much of anything for any other forward.
Defense you can move Borgen, Soucy, Schneider. Robertson, Morrow can be moved but doubt you are getting anything significant back – sweeteners though Robertson looks worth keeping another year.
So the question is – who of the movables can you trade and have a better team, not just next season but the next two to three? And what makes a better team? Surely we need a real RW and a 2 or 3C.
I can only see moving Tro, Laf and Soucy, though probably not much back on the latter as a deadline rental but could sweeten a Tro or Laf trade. Signs of life recently with Tro but he’s become the face off guy and not much more. Laf? Ask high and settle for realistic.
Fox is too fragile and slow to lose a still relatively low cap Schneider. Likewise, Borgen hard to replace on a value basis.
So what does Schneider and 32 year old Vermont bring back to make this team frightening to play against? The team still has the nephew, Bridude, LaCoast, Mika, Panarin, Rempe, Raddysh etc etc etc.
I’d take Sully as GM. He does communicate which Drury doesn’t feel is part of his job. The problem is that the Winter Hill Gang would be totally in charge. Torts is a Masshole so he would fit in. They need to break up the group think a bit.

Beezle
We do think alike my friend. Although I will admit I am more pessimistic about the future.
If we as fans don’t want these clowns what makes us think a wise GM does You’re not getting Mason McTavish for Trocheck, or Slafkovsky for Lafreniere. Vancouver wants Schneider what are they giving up Marco Rossi, 30 year old Keifer Sherwood?
Tro will get alot of attention as center at deadline…Soucy could possibly get a 2nd rounder. Bread is gonna waive his nmc since its clear they are not bringing him back. At a minimum he gets to play for next contract with a winning team.
Bobbyo
What does attention at the deadline bring back. We’re not talking about bottom dwellers.
Trocheck is a center — you could look at Brock Nelson trade and what Isles got back last year 1st rounder and top prospect. Maybe more since Trocheck has several years left on contract
Bobbyo
Yes a 1st rd pick. I’m good with that. That isn’t getting this clown show into the playoffs. That’s what Dolan wants and all he cares about. I’m for trading all these vets for picks.
its not about getting into the playoffs its about improving team long term…and getting faster and more physical in top 6
Bobbyo
We agree
Sully should also suit up and play. GM/HC/Player; who says no?
Some skill in the top 6 wouldn’t hurt either..,
There are two guys I would target. Both within the right age. I’d go after Kyrou (Schneider), and Lafferier (Kings, Panarin, orvTrocheck). Both RW. Obvious position of need.
Drury fired.
Per NYP.
C3
🤣
Per brooks?
Per Roenick.

Shoot first RW cost a 2 a 3 and a prospect; hmm; sounds a little rich
Looks like our top forward is back in the mix tonight.
