The Rangers left Ottawa last night with a 4-2 victory. Though Ottawa was the faster team, the Rangers had better team defense and were competing hard all night. Once again, they made the most of their opportunites. It was a big night for Panarin too, reaching 900 career points. And Zibanejad moved into a tie with Greshner for #7 on the NYR all time points list.
It started with an early goal by Zibanejad (10) at 03:19 of the first. Not much later, at 09:45, Gavrikov (6) scored again, matching his season best in just 29 games. Cozens (9) would get the Sens within one with a PPG just before the end of the second period at 18:30. In the third, Borgen (2) at 07:24 to put the Rangers back up 3-1. Batherson (10) would make it interesting with a goal at 13:08 of the third but Ottawa was not able to get the goal to tie before Panarin (9) got an ENG with 44 seconds left.
Game summary below:

The Rangers next game is home against the Colorado Avalanche at 12:30 EST on Saturday, December 6. Telecast by MSG and ALT.

For those of you who enjoy college hockey, and prospects, a big one tonight on the Big 10 network. Michigan (Spence, 27), vs Michigan State (Barnhill, 3). Two best teams in college hockey. 8:30 puck drop.

colorado is an afternoon game. 12:30 pm
Great forechecking by lines 3 and 4. I want a Laba jersey,
Any of you guys and gals do the Garden of Dreams $100 last night?
Alex – fixed. You all will be watching Lehigh vs Villanova anyhow 😉
Calhom – I did not but one can still donate until next week, right?
Not sure…. I was going to, but thousands of dollars after an unexpected electric meter repair means I’m not doing it this year.
My dad did several years back and won a St. Louis signed jersey.
Shneids/Gavi +3,
Brady/Stutlze – 3;
Sheary 0 goals…
So… I see that I got beezled in the Go-Time thread. That’s definitely a first.
Soucy continues to play well – his behind the back pass to Borgen was impressive
Lava and Sam I Am are the stalwarts of this team
Bread on PP point has to stop
Meeka has found a spine; now he just has to stop the give aways in Ozone when pressured.
When will Uncle Mike tell Fox he didn’t make Olympic team?
Lets see how things play out but it could be interesting if the new ES right side is Schneider/Fox/Borgen
split the difference … $50 to garden, $40 to china for “authentic” Laba jersey … $10 to blog sysop beezle autograph it for you
Fox is a horrible defender; that he plays pk is just a sham imho
wwpd what you need is to have Premier of RR3 CCCP have all the inmates at the assisted living facility sign it 🤣
I’m not saying I am a know-it-all that would put me in a class with Drury. But I did suggest Schneider/Gavrikov as the top pair a while ago well before Slow Fox got hurt. I also suggest Cuylle/Laba/Berard as a permanent 3rd line at least a month ago. You can look it up. I think there may have been a comment that Berard is tooooo small. The dude is relentless, and getting better. I’m sure he will make some mistakes, let him play. I have made other suggestions to improve the team that management hasn’t taken notice of yet. I suggest they do.
StPete. How do they fix the power play and what do with Bread?
As much as I know they cannot afford Panarian you have to admit there are some passes he makes when he gets the puck over the blueline that we have never seen another Ranger make since No.99. Also I don’t know of anyone else who would have scored that empty net goal he did last night.
If he only had about 25 ponds more and some heart he would be a keeper.
The PP is surely a problem. I don’t see an over night fix. Giving Schneider, Gavrikov, or Morrow an opportunity is the only way to find out if one of them will work. Doing what they are doing now is just dumb. More importantly what needs immediate attention is 2 RW’s for
Miller Zibanejad ?
Panarin Vermont ?
Busto, Brodude, and Sheary are not cutting it. If management wants this team in the playoffs trades need to be made. Trading LaCoast (weak and useless) for a vet RW is one move. Othman, Edstrom or Vaakanainen could possibly land another. The moves need to be made asap. Busto could land Josh Anderson as an example. Having said that I prefer a rebuild but we all know that presently is a pipe dream. I like watching them win. Until this core is gone it’s the only answer I see.
If the Rangers can get back a player with an attitude who can score 15 to 20 goals a year for Laffy I would be ecstatic. It really is shame at how poorly his play became after he signed his contract. Do not ever remember a Rangers just tanking like that. How do you scout that whe. No one has ever done something like it. Drafting young kids is very much a crapshoot and just our luck to be crapped on.
I hate giving up on a young player but this organization has to start somewhere. Drury must keep the 2 #1’s.
Krusty Trocheck Anderson
Miller Zibanejad Hartman
Just groping in the dark but it would work for me.
Spence just scored off a Barnhill turnover.
Barnhill just rode off Spence along the boards.
Evangelistas name keeps popping up
LAUGHRENIERE is one of the biggest disappointments ever to don a Rangers sweater. Woof.
Or as a Carp might say: bow wow.
Hartford Wolfpack beat Springfield 5-2 & have won their last (3) games. Perreault scored (2) goals. Why he isn’t with Rangers is beyond me.
Jason Lafreniere vintage 1988 Ranger is better than #1 over all Alex Lafreniere. And that is a sad commentary.
Back in the day… I was opposed to the extension preferring they use his RFA status to their advantage at least another two years. They would have bumped him up, probably 4 and change a year. You see two things – can he continue playing close the the prior (good) season and if the bounce in salary has a negative effect. It is not just NYR, but league wide. Doesn’t mean you need to give in to peer pressure. And if someone offer sheeted him, you can still match or take the picks.
Nice one-timer by Spence and Barnhill is a big boy.
Bobbyo
I was thinking about him yesterday.
honestly have not seen alot of him or Pred games. He’s Righthanded and playing on their first line –not huge but good skater they say
Looks like Quinn Hughes may become available. Canucks apparently had interest in Laffy in past… assuming they would want Schneider and picks to boot
Quinn Hughes wants Jersey for a 3 way
2 points would be nice this weekend but 3 pts should be special; gotta show some backbone at home, carry over effort from Stars game
Rangers can ill afford to trade an emerging Schneider style Dman for a Hughes style dman who will leave for the swamps as UFA after next year, let alone as a plus-up to move on from Busto
The quicker Laughy gets away from Bread as his cavalier attitude the better; “we lose, but I get points, so who cares…”
Meeka has turned the page and decided he wants to be part of the solution; Bread knows his days are numbered and while he is always trying to score on the offensive side of the ice; his defensive indifference is a cancer on this team.
Trade Fox and even Borgen before Shneids and get him away from Vaakaa and play him with Gavi or Robertson, who continues to impress
Like Schneider but If you get can get Hughes ..you get Hughes ..especially if you can sign him long term
Hughes only makes sense if Fox is no longer here
My preseason hope of Mika coming in motivated to redeem himself appears to be coming true.
That and the emergence of Laba and Robertson are the 3 things that make me most happy this year
Also, a real defensive system and pretty much the entire D corps playing better besides Vaakanainen
Just because we’ve won a couple games doesn’t mean we are a better team without Fox.
That arithmetic doesn’t hold water
Not a Fox fan for a championship team. Not. Quinn Hughes fan either but he has wheels unlike Fox. Quinn is obviously a winner, look what he has done leading the Nucks as Captain this season.
Speaking I’d wheels, Will Makar fall down every time he is touched today? Somebody neeeds to plaster him to end boards
