On this snowy evening the Rangers find themselves in the windy city to take on the up and coming but recently struggling Chicago Blackhawks. After a few days off, the Rangers come in winners of five of their last ten, along with two OT/L in the most recent games. The Hawks are 2-6-2, with an odd last five that included splitting games against ANA and LAK and a S/O L to VGK.
And who is skating tonight? Perhaps more interesting is who is not. This afternoon coach Sullivan announced that Raddysh would be Prucha’d, apparently for not playing hard enough: “At the end of the day, we’re trying to put guys in the lineup that give us the best chance to win…I think when Taylor’s at his best, I think he’s strong on the boards, he uses his size and his reach, his physicality, getting in on the forecheck, helping us create momentum, hanging on to pucks in the offensive… We’re just looking for a little bit more consistency there.” Expect a few heads at home will 🤯 after reading that. 🤷♂️ Sullivan also announced that Edstrom was placed on LTIR while CHI notes Foligno has a left hand injury.
So instead of Raddysh, Chmelar will be RW on the 4th line, Brodzinski on the LW, having cycled his way through the 3rd, 2nd and 1st lines. Sheary remains LW on the Trocheck line and Lafreniere RW on the Zibanejad line. Berard keeps his spot as RW on the 3rd.
Shesterkin (12-9-3, 2.46 GAA, 0.913 SV%) is expected in net tonight against Knight(9-6-5, 2.62 GAA 0.914 SV%). The Hawks have both specialty units in the top 10 compared to New York’s slightly below mid-pack. On face offs, NYR continue to excel at 53.6% (#3) compared to Chicago’s 46.9% (#29).
The refs tonight are Tom Chmielewski (651 GP) and Gord Dwyer (1340 GP). Both give slightly more PP opportunites to the home squad. Dwyer has been a little more reserved with his whistle this season compared to last.

As bad as last year’s team was, they were shutout less than this team already has, and they hadn’t been shutout at all by this calendar date.
Not surprisingly, only one of those shutouts was at home and they were only against three different teams.
Rangers already have five shutouts at home and one on the road, and all six were against different teams.
GGMM: Sixth shutout loss of the season for the Rangers and first on the road. Team couldn’t execute, well, anything tonight.
Don’t forget that our $11.5 million goalie didn’t make his money for another game.

Once again the HEARTLESS Rangers take a lesser opponent for granted and fail to show up to play. They felt full of themselves because they were able to take 4 out of six points from some good teams. Typical Rangers, to them that means we just need to show up for the lesser teams. No need to give 100%.

Chicago is another fast team that our boys could not keep up with. Isn’t it amazing what an overall no.1 draft choice looks like when he is not a NY Ranger. If I was a Blackhawk’s fan I would be very happy with the way there team is heading. Too bad our GM whoever he has ben for 30 years cannot get it right. Oh well. At least like some of you i decided not to watch the 3rd period. Another non compete effort.
