My stream was in pre-season mode so didn’t see any of the game but from the sounds of it, another third period meltdown. 😥
Repost.
Sully Prucha’d Fox at the Four Nations. Let’s see if he shelters his minutes.
He’s not a top pair D anymore. Cut back his ice time. No PK, 2nd pair minutes and not on the ice at the end of games. Maximize his value and limit his exposure. He’s TDA without the lousy attitude now.
What bothers me most about Fox is the fact that he seems to make one bonehead play every other game and his lack of compete is startling. On the Islanders goal in the third he just could not move a younger and hungrier player from in front of the net.
I have said for almost 2 years that after he got i jured and when he came back from the all star game he was not the same player. I understand he was never the fastest skater and he is not the same size as Jacob Trouba, but where is his heart. I am sure he still cares about the game but something has drastically change in his game. Too bad. I thought he was going to be an all time great Ranger instead of a very good Ranger.
Oh well. Another year of blown leads and players skating off the ice with their heads hung low.
Noah Labia needs to stay on the big club. Foxy is sucky. Both Hartford goalies are bad.
Purr row. JT Zbad
Bread trocheck lefrench
Coolio labia sherry
Rempe Sam I am edstrom
Remember kids, we’re not the paid talent evaluators. NYR brass know much more than we do! 🤣
Fox was never ever billed as a “physical” defender, in part reflecting the reality of his size. They always said he makes up for this with his “vision,” “smarts,” and just being “a step ahead.”
I’ve said it a bunch the past two years – if/when Fox stops putting up assists like Christmas ornaments he’s finished as his pure defensive abilities are at best second pair and those guys don’t get $9 per.
Sully usually does not use his top players to kill penalties
Just looked at the goal replays. At first I was going to diss Morrow a bit on the last goal but LaCoast made like zero effort to get in the play, even though he was already over the blue line before the puck entered the zone. Garand didn’t look good at all and should have stopped that one (and the others).
The South Tower definitely helped Otter out on his goal with the screen. Wonder if they could add a few pads to make him a little wider too 😉
What’s Eddie Munster doing these days?
Lacoast looks thinner. Dave said he worked out over the summer and didn’t just play softball.
Rempe was pretty bad last night. Did Edstrom play?
Fox certainly has something to prove this year, but I’m not going to kill him over 2 meaningless (to the vets) preseason games.
Artemi Panarin (lower-body) is practicing with team today in red jersey, but he is cleared for contact.
Justin Dowling (lower-body) skated on his own earlier with a coach.
Elsewhere, Aleksander Barkov is undergoing surgery for a right knee injury.
its still preseason so i guess we have to wait.To Me Fox has always been slow. He is talented offensively but I think subpar defensively. My issue is he seems to look, i duuno, disinterested maybe? Looks like he is just too accepting of failure. I think if he were less dejected and more pissed about his and the teams F*CK ups, this stuff would be more easily overlooked.
I’d also love to see Laba stay with the team and lose Sheary. Brodude and maybe even parsnip
Beezle is right though, the professional talent evaluators probably know far better than I.
Agree with a lot of what you guys are saying. One thing about how the professional talent guys work. I have seen a lot of NY Ranger players come and go and sometime the guys like Phil Esposito and other get it Really Wrong. Not looking to be a GM but some times the Pro’s make some huge mistakes. Hugh Jessimen comes to mind and about a dozen other first round picks that were dogs. Too many to name. I am sure most of you can rattle off half a dozen names in your sleep.
With Fox;agree he has never been a good defender but his general demeanor has sucked over the last 2 years. I guess there is nothing we can do about it. Glas I am no longer paying MSG for the crap they put on the ice nightly.
Labda is gonna make the team …its whether its opening night or by November
Hey guys,
Laba has looked like exactly what we need in a center. He will be up at some point this season.
This loss wasn’t on bad defense….it was all goalies. Those goals were horrible and soft for an NHL goalie to let up. Garand better get to work because I feel like Quick might have a mid season retirement like Biron did.
Want to see Othman make this squad .. want some jam and size on wing..not another smaller wing e.g Sheary or Berard
Low expectations boys. The only way to stay mentally above water with this Cotton Candy Crew. Fox is a shameful excuse of a defender and should never see the ice with 5 minutes left in the 3rd.
Wait until Krusty returns with the cross ice giveaways. I really like Laba’s game one of the very few bright spots. Twerkin will need a Vesna type yeat for our boys in blue to even sniff the post season. But hey maybe I’m over reacting, and they win the cup this year.
Too much K’Andre rubbed off on #23.
Fox needs Navy Seal training.
Zibanejad needs 2 tickets to paradise.
Panarin needs a Siberian vacation.
……..but Zibanejad is a slow starter (ducks)
Fox is softer than baby sh-t.
Fox’s wife could knock him off the. puck.
Even Remper has me yawning.
Loss was on Garand. Plain and simple. No need to overanalyze the score
Liked seeing Othman bounce back with a good goal and a better game.
Carey from last thread. Larry reading the blog again.
My comments from first game or two had brodude and Sheary competing for 13th fwd. I gave the edge to brodude for center ability.
Sheary depth call up who would be good leader in Hartford.
Credit to him though having a very good PTO
All credit to Carey for putting Laba on the radar early!! Good discovery there.
The new dog, Laba, knocked down the door to get in and is heavy on puck retrieval. He’s a Laba Door Retriever.
Barkov likely done for the season. ACL reconstruction, also MCL damage. They are giving a 7-9 month timeline but that is, at least on the lower end, very optimistic. Think it would be foolish to put him on ice again this season and risk additional damage.
Mollie got this out of Commander Sully regarding defensive pairings:
Coos, please re-write.
Seems we’ve been getting a lot of gobbledygook from our new Chief. Or is it Mollie? Or both?
“… as we know, there are known knowns; there are things we know we know. We also know there are known unknowns; that is to say we know there are some things we do not know. But there are also unknown unknowns—the ones we don’t know we don’t know. And if one looks throughout the history of our…”
Rumsfeld would have been hilarious as NYR coach. Little yellow post-its in everyone’s lockers 🤣
Thank you CC. I watched Laba play at Colorado College for 3 seasons. I was fairly confident that he would make a good showing at training camp. I think he’s the future 3C, but we have all seen guys like this make a splash, and then disappear.
Sully isn’t locked into Fox – Gavrikov which I view as positive. Fox is not a first pair D or a shutdown defender. His minutes need to be sheltered. The problem is there is no obvious replacement on the roster.
They signed Gavrikov to play with Fox. Sullivan may not be committing to it publicly, but you can write it down in ink that it’s happening.
As for sheltering Fox’s minutes, I absolutely agree. He should not be killing penalties, unless they are trailing late, and he should not be on the ice to close games. They have 4 other Dmen more suited for that.
From Mollie at praccy:
1/ Panarin still with the don’t touch me jersey
2/ Only line that is clear right now (due to jersey color) is Perreault-Laba-Brodzinski.
3/ Brennan Othmann is also here with the main group, no Brett Berard or Conor Sheary.
And now the fully praccy lines:
Cuylle-Miller-Zibanejad
Panarin-Trocheck-Lafrenière
Perreault-Laba-Brodzinski
Othmann-Pärssinen-Raddysh
Edström-Carrick-Rempe
Gavrikov-Fox
Soucy-Borgen
Vaakanainen-Schneider
Mackey-Morrow
Shesterkin
Quick
Not sure when the next cutdown announcement will be but have to imagine no later than Tuesday morning?
Drury still the blind squirrel. Should have trade Fox. We are now stuck with pour me slow Fox for the duration.
Don’t think Foxy is gonna be killing penalties …2 preseason games is no reason for panic mode
It is not just the two games else people would be acting surprised which seems not the case here.
Was looking at the schedule via ESPN. First off, Buttman what planet to have first NYR/NJD game on 3/7?

UPDATE: Nathan Aspinall has been assigned to his junior team, the Flint Firebirds of the OHL
Another moment of zen brought to you by Sully:
“If we’re going to manage workloads appropriately over the course of the season, we’re trying to get the best version of every guy. If we go to the same guys in every situation, my experience has been that adds up, as forwards, to 22+ minutes a night. 22+ minutes a night times 82 games is an awful lot of hockey… The pace of the game today and the physicality of the game, that’s very difficult…We’ve got to find a way to manage their minutes.”
Mason McTavish agrees to a 6-year, $7M AAV extension with the Anaheim Ducks
24/25: 22G 30A in 76G
Career 60G 80A in 229G, will be 23 in late January.
The key to understanding lies with those seeking motivation which forms a basis of knowledge highlighted by the duality of the in and out.
If the thunder don’t get ya then the lightning will.
Vigneault would cast his bon mots and wisdom to us after games while pulling behind and below at his damp Fruit of the Loom wedgies. “We had some good looks…”
That should be on AV’s tombstone.
The duality of the in and out is a philosophical and conceptual framework that appears in various fields, suggesting that the internal and external are not separate but are interdependent, complementary, and interconnected. Lgr!
WWPD – I would add that the in and out juxtaposition is also coequally not connected, supplementary, and disconnected vis-a-vis all that is seen and not scene with both the naked and clothed eye.
🤯
re PP in praccy:
“At one point, Sullivan told Lafrenière he wasn’t moving around enough.”
If he looked at the tapes from last year the same could be said of the entire group. Hardly made the defense move at all.
So much Giants hype ahead of the game today. But I won’t get fooled again!
Cam Fowler: 3 x $6.1M
NY Giants games are what DVR was made for. On a beautiful day like today I go out for a long walk with the wife and do not waste my time screaming at NY Giants and the many mistakes they make every game.
If they win watch game on dvr skip through the commercials and halftime and maybe spend 1 hour.
Since the last years of Eli have decided my mental health is more important then seeing dozens of offensive linemen screw up and ruin NY Giants quarterback’s lives.
The same thing I said about NY Rangers people who for years have screwed up the draft goes double for the G Men. How long has it been since they have had a good offensive line? Oh well. Let’s go Giants, and Let’s go Rangers.
Gmen 42
LAC 3
Gmen 14-3 this year. Book it.
I like rooting for the Giants. Their season is usually over by the time hockey starts so I can drop them with no regrets.
NY METS. – the Billion$ shaky experiment.
Among others, Zach Jones was waived bye-bye from the Buffaloes
Anthony Stolarz is signing a four-year extension with the Leaves carrying a $3.75M AAV
I will enjoy watching hing Jones on the Rochester Americans.
He is the quintessential AAAA player
On the right team he could be useful. Wrong fit with Buffalo D corps
E3 hit the nail on the head. The two constantly shape each other in ways we don’t always notice in real time. The “in” — confidence, preparation, belief — becomes visible as soon as the puck drops, and the “out” — results, mistakes, flashes of brilliance — cycles right back into the room and either reinforces or erodes that internal state.
We talk a lot about systems, ice time, and tactics, but those are really just conduits between the two poles. A well-structured shift can restore order to the “in,” just as a bad bounce or blown coverage can unravel it. That’s why what looks like laziness on the outside might actually be hesitation inside, and why bursts of effort sometimes mask deeper uncertainty.
Giants win a game, ending whatever suspense there may have been for the season!
Jones waived. 😂
Did anyone wave back?
judgement of any system or a priori relation of phenomena exists in any rational or metaphysical or at least epistemological contradiction to an abstract and empirical concept such as being or to be or to occur in the thing itself or of the thing itself.
vintage woody
whole league letting Jones just rot away, what’s wrong with these guys after all 🤷♂️
Jones was a relatively early decision. With Dahlin, Power and even Byram there are no PP minutes left for Jones. That should be where his value is. They must have signed him to play in the AHL. Jake L also waived by Sabres. I doubt either will be claimed.

Apparently embeds not working today 🙁
Players in the #NYR non-game group here in Tarrytown, David Quinn is running things:
F: Miller, Zibanejad, Blidh, Dowling, Edström, Lafrenière, Sýkora, Terrance, Panarin (regular jersey), Sheary, Trocheck, Vaisanen, McConnell-Barker, Chmelař, Fix-Wolansky
D: Fox, Pouliot, Soucy, Gavrikov, Dorrington, Šustr, Hillman, Borgen
G: Quick, Boyko
JT left praccy a little early, appeared to be in some distress.
I find it interesting the difference between the NFL and NHL when it comes to injury announcements.
We already know the the Giants no 1 receiver is out for the rest of the year with a torn acl. If it were a hockey player it would be a lower body injury with no timeline on when he would return.
Also on the NFL. There have been an awful lot of tear ending injuries this season in just 4 games, They really are just like Gladiators.
Too bad for the Giants.
Let’s hope our boy in blue can get a 60 minute victory and not implode in the 3rd period again tonight.
Alot of year ending injuries
Small cuts:
now down to 41
Jaroslav Chmelar, Jackson Dorrington, Case McCarthy, Adam Sykora and Kalle Vaisanen have been assigned to training camp in Hartford.
Andrej Šustr has been released from his tryout.
Season over.
Everyone has to experience the dreary turtle tedium an NFL or a MLB game in person to appreciate the speed and excitement of an NHL tilt.

Hoping it is just a hammy
And from Miss Mollie:
Handful of Rangers on waivers today. All expected.
I can’t. I just can’t with NY sports anymore. Now our Captain decides to f-ck his knee up while lunging for a puck in practice?! Why do I have to be a Rangers/Mets/Giants fan…. As it is, I had low expectations for the season with retread Sullivan who rode the coattails of Crosby/Letang/Malkin and hasn’t done Jack sh-t in how many years now? JT was one of the bright spots of the team that would at least make watching games palatable. Perhaps I’m being premature with this, but even if it’s a nagging knee injury, that’s enough the mess his entire season up….
Other than Cuylle, Rempe and Parssinen all the forwards are kids. Schneider and Vaaka9n are the only regulars on defense.
If you see Miller on crutches and/or wearing a bledsoe brace, then you know its probably an acl. If instead it appears they amputated his leg below the knee, it is a simple LBI, 4-6 weeks 😉
There will be a pre-season Go Time at the usual time. EV take note
As I said earlier the dreaded lower body injury. You know this is going to mess with him all year. That was quick.
Low expectations stay sane boneheads!
It’s almost as if Jeff summoned this injury and its vague disclosure with his 13:39 comment
9n and Parsnip will be in the lineup opening night, book it.
