Announcement #1: Matt Rempe
New York Rangers President and General Manager Chris Drury announced today that the team has agreed to terms with forward Matt Rempe on a two-year contract extension.
Rempe, 22, led the team in hits per 60 minutes (19.64) and his 19.64 hits per 60 were the sixth-most in the NHL among players who skated in at least 40 games. In addition, he established career-highs in goals (3), assists (5) and points (8) this season, and finished with a plus-seven rating in 42 games.
Terms are believed to be $975,000 per season.

REMPER!
A Rempe offer sheet would have had the “professional” hockey commentariat’s heads spinning
fitting that Rempe is literally the first free agent signing of the NHL off-season. LGR!
now do Edstrom. two more years of 73-39-84.
Beezle nice picture, home sweet home. Sun, beaches, and old retired Ranger fans! Oh yeah and the Stanley Cup again. How many more years must we suffer?
That 4th line is a hard matchup for anyone
The only thing that should be untouched
Panthers GM pulling all the right strings getting
Tchatchuck Bennet Reinhardt
Oh my
Thank Gorton for making some calls and taking some calls and not wanting to give a 3rd round pick for a guy like Bennett
Paul Maurice on his way to go down as possibly the best head coach of all time ?
Minx I know you live there, as does EV. But Florida ranks as one of my most despised states. The photo is of a beach in Barbados!
Unfortunately I don’t see the rangers winning a cup under this regime. I feel fortunate when the rangers won in 94 I was in my thirties and watched every game that year so at least I have that memory to take to my grave.
all rempe has to do is learn how to play hockey and fight, jeez.
Days since NYR won the Stanley Cup: 11,327 days
Maurice had a losing record in playoffs prior to sending Barkov and Bennett over the boards. [Jimmys & Joes > Xs & Os]
As the NYPD Sergeant said to the gathering crowd at the murder scene with the warm body still uncovered and waiting for the coroner: “Show’s over, folks. Move along. Nothing to see here.”
Those expecting dramatic moves out of Drury are likely to be disappointed. Next season will be a slightly modified play it back. He has gotten rid of his problems. Trouba, Kreider and Lavy. I wonder what he does with KAM. If he signs him long term the blog will explode.
Not that the blog will be happy but
Drury will be busy ..changes incoming
At approximately 1 AM on 2/21/26, it will have been 1,000,000,000 seconds since the Rangers won the SC. 😱
Calgary had Bennet and Tkaschmuck on their roster not too long ago
I have little expectations from Drury this off season. he put himself in cap hell and can’t really get out of it. He may sell low on some players, but I don’t expect this roster to improve. I also expect that the Pens will get the next Crosby or Lemieux with the Rangers 2026 first round pick. Sorry Minx, but you should start preparing yourself now.
Beezle
11,327 days scary not yet a lifetime.
Mkh
I assure you I am prepared my liquor cabinet it full.
He got rid over 16 in cap space cleared and got assets back …that’s not getting out?
Who cares what Drury does at this point. We suck. We’re not a JJ Peterka or whatever other dumb names the insiders come up with away from contending. Save for maybe 5 or so players, the team literally needs to be remade. Our players are either too small/shy (see: Adam Fox), too undisciplined, or too pedestrian.
drury also got rid of many draft picks, including the next 3 versions
Can’t even post a photo here without sending this site into space! :(((
Just click the link to see our new future captain
CCCP,
I understand that he had to go up against Barkov’s line, but the supposed best player in the world needs to figure it out. I would be real weary in investing that much in a single player. As Florida has proven the past 2 years, you need an entire team of absolute dogs with a few talented pieces like Verhaeghe/Reinhart/Barkov/Chucky/Marchand/Ekblad. Those players, btw, are also relentless!
So- Can you tell me that Zibanejad, Trocheck, JT Miller, Fox, Laffy, Panarin, while talented, have the same motors required to get it done, if ONLY they had McDavid? I’m not tying up that much salary in one player…. I’m just not.
since you put it that way Craig I don’t see the problem 😭😭
If he got rid of draft picks those were in trade deadline deals to improve for playoffs
The Rangers have a dog …with long shaggy hair
trading those picks has damaged our future. keeping drury is also damaging.
I see nothing wrong with investing 20 million bucks into McJesus. I am perfectly fine with that.
He’d finally have a goalie behind him at least, and that’s already miles ahead of where his current team is.
Beezle, I live here and Florida is one of my most despised states as well. Though, I’m not going anywhere anytime soon.
These are the remaining picks that Drury traded away. Of course, the big one, is still unresolved
The New York Rangers acquired JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, and Jackson Dorrington from the Vancouver Canucks for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, and a conditional 2025 1st round pick
The Arizona Coyotes acquired Patrik Nemeth, 2025 second round pick and conditional 2026 second round pick from New York Rangers for Ty Emberson
The New York Rangers acquired Reilly Smith from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2027 2nd round pick and conditional 2025 5th round pick
The New York Rangers acquired Jack Roslovic from the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 2026 4th round pick
The New York Rangers acquired Chad Ruhwedel from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2027 4th round pick
Apparently the Edmonton GM is a Drury clone – just looked at the Dry Saddle contract – $1M in salary, everything else in bonus. Can’t be bought out, full NMC, UFA at age 37 going on 38.
Olga news: Ryan Donato is signed to a 4 year, $16,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $4,000,000 per season
Seems hard to improve when you have very few draft picks, no cap room to sign UFAs/RFAs and no ability to trade many players due to their NMC/NTC. So how exactly is Drury going to make this team a contender???
For starters, jettison everyone with a funny first name.
I’d take Draisaitl and his contact any day of the week and twice on Sundays.
I’d be fine with Drury signing a perennial Hart, Art Ross, and Richard candidate every single season, to a similar contract to Draisaitl’s, clauses and all. Drury could never attract a guy like that though.
They’re clearing space to make a run at McJesus.
Will Davy be invited to camp or is he still in the Navy?
They are going after Eichel
Have we even a prayer of signing McJesus? It would take a miracle.
‘Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic food.
He believed in brotherhood
and never wore no shoes.
Long hair, beard, and sandals
And a funky bunch of friends,
Reckon he come down today,
They just nail him up again.’
EV those signings usually end very badly for the Rangers.
The Leper Colony.
Can honestly say I don’t know why any of those big names would seriously consider signing with the NYR. They are already rich, they are no longer only about the Benjamins. When they look at a list of 32 teams, do they think NY is a top cup candidate? Or somewhere in the middle? If they are that interested in living in NYC, they can move there in five years or so after they retire.
They can also look at the soon to be 34 yr old Panarin’s career with NY as an example of a star in his prime going to mid-tier NY team and not winning a cup, not even playing for one. If Panarin had already had a big payday, would he have signed in NY when he did?
Gavrikov or provorov see his free agent targets ..no big spends on forwards unless he gets rid of the DJ
Eichel is coming not McDavid
Sully apparently doesn’t like Kandre ….Coos phone calls must have worked
Brodude 32nd bday
Dallas Stars sign forward Matt Duchene to four-year, $18 million contract extension
Hague, Fox
Gavrikov, Schneider
Soucy, Borgen.
Who says yes.
Ty emberson? I totally forgot who that is. Amazing he cost 2 second rounders!?! Or was it a Nemeth salary dump?
Soucy Suxy
Carey. From the limited time soucy was with us I was not impressed at all
Big body but not physical
Lots of turnovers
Slow of foot
Just a very meh presence
Would rather a guy like Ben Harpur or Connor Mackey in that spot
I also know it’s not popular, but I wouldn’t mind Zach jones in the lineup regularly.
Rather find a way to get Robertson in than Soucy.
Robertson should have never said Colony Pizza is overrated.
McDavid would look good in blue but no way he’s coming here; Dry Saddle is interesting, 30 yo in Oct; def get PP going but contract is a dog.
Soucy if fine on 3rd pair they won’t be playing man to man D anymore
Interesting point Bobby with the m2m
Holy schnikees the d structure so bad with hausely /lavi combo
Coos coos taking off from posting for today’s federal holiday?
Headed to the dog days of Summer now. Drury’s methodology is to get the easy RFAs out of the way first. Expect Edstrom to be signed soon. Maybe he deals with Jones and Robertson after that. I assume Ben and Chad won’t be resigned. That will leave Cuylle and KAM to work out. A KAM trade could happen. If so someone has to play his 20+ minutes every night.
These are the fun days of summer; no games to complain about, all vitriol focused on Dreary.
Trading Bread and Mika (and Fox – ducks!) will finish getting rid of the softees- team needs a heart transplant after last season. More talent would help too…
Which one of you guys wrote this
https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6432404/2025/06/19/new-york-rangers-nhl-season-results-chris-drury/
That was really far to kind to Drury but guess because they only focused on the past season.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins played through the Stanley Cup Final with a broken hand, Connor McDavid said in his season-ending press conference
The Rangers really need to let Pitt have this year’s pick. I suspect if they keep this year’s pick they will regret it and so will the rest of us. They can try to trade there way back into this year’s first round.
Rich
I completely agree. Trade Miller for a 1st plus and sign Gavrikov. My pipe dream would also include trading Krusty and Foxless.
Unfortunately fluffajad ain’t going anywhere.
They will keep pick and make playoffs
bobbyo
The eternal optimist.
Ahhhh Bobby I would like to have even a smidgen of your optimism. Alas….I have been a Rangers fan too long…..they have beaten the optimism out of me …at least until October.
Solid coach new. d scheme and Shesty …no reason they can’t make playoffs
And they usually play better 1st year with new coach
Actually, we’re getting both, Draisaitl and McDavid… and Eichel to center 4th line
Cuz Mika will center 3rd
First.
fla has quite a few guys who were picked top 8 in draft- mostly by other teams
barkov
ekblad
tkachuk
bennett
jones
reinhart
If the Rangers are going to do the offer sheet thing, as they are rumored, then they will give Pitt the pick this year. They need the 26 first to do an offer sheet. Also, keep an eye on Miller to Utah. Utah has the Rangers 26 second round pick. If the Rangers are going to go big on an offer sheet, they will need their own 26 second rounder. If you put aside all of this, I’d keep the pick. Going to get a really good player at 12.
Robertson signed.
The cup is secure!
That’s Drury’s MO. He gets the easy stuff out of the way before the draft. The Kreider trade should cool the Cuylle offer sheet chatter. He has the cap space to match any offer now so he he will let it drag out for a while. Dealing with KAM may go first since he has arbitration rights.
Robertson looks a little like Chytil in that picture. Maybe he gets to play an NHL game next season.
I think this message is directed at Pizzaboy
ORF, harsh but fair.
Despite the parade of depth Dmen that come and gone since the 2019 draft, Robertson doesn’t seem to have moved up the NYR depth chart. This new contract brings him one season shy of his UFA year?
Sounds like a decent pickup for the Normsky’s
Good guy Nill, sent Marchment to another tax free state
Marchment contract is 4.5M AAV, expiring end of 2026 at age 31. 22G 25A last season in 62 games.
Jonathan Toews to sign in WPG, one year deal so say the Hockey Illuminati
Drury still tossing pizza’s seeing if they stick to whatever!
I’m just sitting back and doing time while I wait to see what drury does with his so called retooling on the fly of this roster.
Mcjesus knows Edmonton will never be able to provide a cup
Not saying the rangers are currently better built to, but, having a top tier goalie is important
He also seemed to throw knoblach under bus for not making any adjustments . (We kept trying to do the same thing over and over and it wasn’t working)
Tommy – while you’re doing time don’t neglect to say hello and give a big hug to CCCP.
Canadian PM calls for Oilers to change their name to the Windmills.
LOL Coos!
tommyG
Hola at me, bro! I’ll get you extra tray!
When does Drury have to notify the Pens if he is keeping this year’s pick or giving it to them?
Send Marhment here for his tenacity and putting good numbers up for $4.5per
Drury has until 48 hours before the first round is held on June 27 to notify Pittsburgh GM Kyle Dubas of his decision.
The draft is on next Friday so he has until Wednesday to decide. He’s keeping the pick. There is no way he signals to Dolan that he thinks they won’t make the playoffs next year.
You guys already know it doesn’t matter which pick NYR keep. The one that goes to Pittsburg will “obviously” end up being a better NHL player.
ORF,
Plenty of rumors out there saying the Rangers are planning on going the offer sheet route. To do that, they need the 26 first. It will be telling if the Rangers give the 25 pick to Pitt.
Offer sheet click bait, same every year! If there’s ever a time for it though after he figures out Cuylle and Kandre, Drury has no valuable RFAs other than Schneider to deal with in the foreseeable future to worry about that could get retaliatory offer sheets, and not much in the way of important UFAs that could walk either other than a big bready contract next year.
After what Drury did to Trouba, Woodrow, Kreider, why would any player want to sign an offer sheet to play for the Rangers. The only reason is that they would be grossly overpaid, which is right up Drury’s wheelhouse, not to mention the NTC/NMC he will also give them.
He’ll overpay them and hand out NMCs, same reason as always!
Plenty of reasons …Team with a top goalie ..original 6 team..team that has been to semifinals 2 of last 4 years ..money
Give this year’s pick, save the 2026 for deadline deals. If for some reason they’re out of the playoffs, then it’ll be a decent selection.
Thank the gods that the War didn’t interrupt or get mentioned during the Mets’ game.
What dumb sh-t will Drury do this week? Maybe he’ll send out a memo to all teams letting them know his new coaching staff is available. Then, they’ll all have a good cry together.
If they are out of playoff they can move Bread for a 1st
Drury is gonna have a great week
Doesn’t everyone who signs an offer sheet do it for the money?
After dumping Kreider Drury has enough cap space to match one offer sheet. Keeping Cuylle should be job 1.
Let’s see what happens at the draft. I’m warming up to Aitcheson as the pick. A physical D with an offensive upside. Maybe someone will drop in their lap like Perrault did. Maybe they trade up or down depending on who is left on the board.
Aitcheson, or Jaxson Smith, unless on of the centers fall in to their lap. Most likely O’Brien, with an outside chance of McQueen.
Another center who could be interesting is Cullen Potter. I did know who he was till Chris Peters mentioned him. On the small side, but played at Arizona State this year, in a year that should have been his senior high school year. 12 would be high, but you never know.
22 points in 35 games. Turned 18 in January.
O’Brien, McQueen, and Cullen – The Irish Mafia Line.
Why would someone give up a 1st for Panarin on an expiring contract when his playoff history has been underwhelming, especially in later rounds (per many posters)?
Drury is desperately trying to find a crystal ball. He is clueless!
If you don’t think Bread would fetch a first rounder , you would be wrong
St.Pete it seems currently he is relying on his Magic 8 Ball.
First criteria for any player Dreary acquires is whether there were involved with USNTDP
Second question is can they perform in this league.
In that order
Dreary should offer sheet Kappo Kaako.
I don’t know… I don’t believe in any of the “oh, why would the players wanna come here after so and so got treated this or that way” crap. First of all, we are not the Islanders… second, you don’t think other teams do the same thing? It’s business. Third, people want to come here all the time no matter what. Big stage and all that crap…
Tampa screwed McDonough and he came back.
JT Miller, too…im sure it didnt feel well being a throw in.
Florida – a hockey state. Ridiculous.
Bunch of cocky pr*cks

Is rumor season open for business? Mika to Leafs.
We have a new NBA champion. Next year, NBA will make a brand new trophy for a new winner. So special…
Interesting…the original basketball trophy, looks a lot like the Stanley’s cup.
https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Walter_A._Brown_Trophy#/media/File:Walter_A_Brown_Trophy.jpg
Drury should offer sheet Greg McKegg.
McKegg for Miller Light, a coaster, and a bowl of Goldfish snacks.
We already have a coaster- his name is Mika.
But who could replace KAM!?! The minutes! The scoring! Would have to pay so much!
Lohrei averaged 19:32 TOI. KAM had 7G 20A in 74 games this past season.
Rumor was that EV was parade Grand Marshall!
Friendman saying Ducks looking to move Zegras. Perhaps he can coach RHS hockey like his unknown relation did in the late 70s/early 80s?
And… he’s moved to the Filth
Ducks will get Poehling, pick 45 overall this year and 4th Rd pick in 2026 in return for Zegras
Poehling is 26, 27 in Jan. 31 pts last season (12G19A) and 28 the prior (11G17A).
So Poehling, a mid 2nd this year and a 4th next. If Drury even checked, we must not have had anything they wanted.
Zegras a bit polarizing. A lot of talent but a lot of questions on toughness and 2-way play.
Zegras is softer than a mashed potato sandwich on wonder bread
Zegras is soft and never on their radar
Drury doesn’t have any radar. Sonar at best because he is always under water.
Zegras >> Chytil every day
A name to keep an eye on as far Rangers being traded, is Dylan Garand. They signed Callum Tung, and they are very high on him. Garland is in line for a 4th season in Hartford. Doubt he’s thrilled with that, and there could be a decent market for him, or he could be an add on piece to a trade.
10:48. – even as I typed, I knew someone would say that…good on you.
Yawn
Lol irony that Zegras ends up with Gritty. Oh and the Minx-memory!
Beezle Sat 13 Jan 2024 10:45
Minx I think Zegras will be the better scorer. Laffy could be a bit tougher to play against. You always have to give to get. But Zegras only works if you make changes around him, can’t view in isolation. Nothing to say too that with right coaching Zegras can’t be better at 200′ game – Quinn turned Buch around to his great credit – but he’s just not the build to ever be “gritty” (with apologies to the orange turd Filthy mascot).

You know why the Panthers looked like they’re having so much fun at their parade? Because they’re kids. There are a grand total of 7 Panthers that are over 30 years old. One of those is a goalie and 2 of the other 6 barely even played in the playoffs or the regular season, if at all. One of the remaining 4 players is Marchand, and he obviously still has a lot left in the tank.
3 of their core turn 30 before next season or at the beginning of it: Barkov, Reinhart, and Verhaeghe. If they can afford to keep this team together (not likely), then the Rangers already can’t win a cup till 2028, at the earliest. 🤷🏻♂️
I thought it was the alcohol but either way celebrate the win
Hockey players drink?
Gavrikov inbound?
mancini on the team that won ahl title
Mancini conducting the Peter, Sellers Line.
I’m bored. Drury- make a stupid trade.
It’s the only kind of trade Drury can make. He’s clueless!
Right now they have 13 forwards under contract for 48.9M. They have 6 D totalling 21.4M and two goalies at 13.1M, grand total 83.3M (rounding).
Assuming Cuylle is a 4.5M bridge deal, that leaves 7.7M for a single defender or defender + upgrade to one of the forwards.
Signing soon to be 30 year old Gavrikov would eat up most (all?) of that 7.7 otherwise he would likely extend with LAK on a mid 6 handle, similar to others that were extended the past few months.
Knowing Drury’s propensity to do anchor contracts, expect it to be 8 yrs NMC at 7.5 or more. Are there no younger defenders to trade for?

The #NYR are surrendering their first round pick, No. 12 overall, to Pittsburgh and thus holding on to next year’s first round pick. This allows them to sign a big money RFA to an offer sheet and also gives them an asset they can use at the trade deadline if they need to.
Nothing to see here?
Carey’s Fri 20 Jun 2025 08:59 had the call. So now the question is … who will they give offer sheet? I fully expect it will be matched, meaning Drury can find some other way to waste the ’26 pick
Isn’t it great being the franchise mocked by players that we trade away? Somehow I don’t think that has anything to do with playing with Mika or Kreider (or Trouba and Goodrow).
seemed like we would have drafted a d man. and need center which we never draft except in later rounds
ahl players winning ahl trophies “tweaking” nhl clubs that traded them? I like Vittorio and think he’ll be a solid top-4 NHL dman, but come on.
but free agents won’t sign with the rangers?
this could be just a masterful cya move by Drury to take the pressure off the decision around trading the pick. yes boss we needed it for an offer sheet or a deadline move next year. it’s a deeper draft anyway.
The last I checked the whole “26 is a deeper draft” thing doesn’t seem to be the case but yes, Drury can use that with Dolan.
wwpd I’d kinda ask why Gavrikov is so interested in the NYR? Does he have relatives living in Crooklyn? Does he expect the NYR are closer to a cup than LAK? Or anyone else? Are the NYR going to give him a significant overpay with term?
I tend to think the last.
Because the Minx can’t wait to get some tix:
I’m drinking cabernat sauvignon as read this. I know it’s early but the hell with it. At least the dirty birds aren’t get our top 5 pick next year.
It’s not early, it’s noon for crissakes. You should have started hours ago!
Sucker found yet for KAM?
If he kept 26 he is gonna make offer to RFA ..hopefully a center or D …Voronkov makes sense
I can’t wait until the DJ mocks the Rangers after being moved
CONFIDENTIAL
Team HATES Drury, but likes his money.
Ex-players trolling NYR says more about them then the team.
Yes, I know it should be “than”, but the internet is forever.
Correct decision to give away this year’s pick and see how things play out next season. There’s a lot to get on Drury about, but his trade management has been in the good to very good range depending on how you weight the salary dump trades. That said, don’t think any contracts he’s given out have been wins for the team (maybe Trocheck).

I’m mildly surprised Drury gave up the pick. He has a story for Dolan I assume.
Finally Drury makes the right decision(for now). This decision was probably more about Drury saving himself. Giving up the pick buys Drury another year with Dolan. He will say he wasn’t able to improve with pick because it was a weak draft and then can say that they couldn’t get the right fit for an offer sheet, so he needs more time to build his Stanley Cup winning team.
Pens will get a sleeper generational player with the #12 pick. Minx will will spend the rest of his days in a rubber room with a special white robe that has sleeves that get tied behind the back.
Well, we’re waiting, Captain Pizza. Make a stupid trade. Here- I’ll start: K’Andre Miller for a 3rd rounder in 2026 and a b-level prospect.

Have we traded Miller yet?
Nothing to see on Friday night now. Dealing with KAM and Cuylle will be the only news.
Putin can still play. Ditto Kim Jong Un. Sign them. Get them out of politics and onto Garden ice.
Evander Kane has been traded to Vancouver, his agent Dan Milstein confirms, but he says Canucks/Oilers still waiting on official trade call with the league. Three teams were interested, Milstein says. Kane goes back home to Van which was the player’s preference.
Vancouver gets Kane and his cap and Edmonton gets from Vancouver OTT 2025 4th Round Pick
I wonder will Drury be able to trade his way back into the first round this year?
Where’s Batman when you need him?
Can’t wait for that trade of K’Asshat Miller for a 3rd rounder and some AHL fodder.
Surprised anyone wants Kane
His penalties cost the team dearly
Such a pisss poor attitude
Usually in the news for the wrong reasons
Kane’s toxic attitude would have fit perfectly in Ranger locker room as long as he hates Drury as much as the rest of the players do.
Buttman still pushing expansion, gently. But not this year. Hopefully not ever.
Peterka to Utah

LOL no Peterka-durka coming to save the day for our dysfunctional franchise. Can’t wait to see the Drury special/scratch-and-dent sale solutions we bring in!
Drury has until Monday to give QOs to his remaining RFAs. KAM, Cuylle, Jones, Kaliyev and a few guys in Hartford. That seems like all he will do before July 1. I assume all the guys who played for them lasts season will be qualified. Maybe not everyone in Hartford.
Gavrikov may be next. He will take all of Kreider’s money and more and put an offer sheet for Cuylle back on the table. Cuylle doesn’t have arbitration rights and they have a history of squeezing those guys. There hasn’t been any word of them having serious discussions with him yet. If they give Gavrikov $7M they can’t sing both KAM and Cuylle. We may know a lot by this time next week.
ORF I don’t think anyone here wants to here Pizzaboy sing 🤣
ORF,
A couple of guys have reported that Cuylle is going to come in at 3 years, total of 10 mill.
It is well past time to do something with Jones. Either he is part of the top six or not and if not, please move him at the draft or if there is to be a trade, include as part.
Also, it would be a major upset if Miller isn’t traded.
I get a chuckle from some fans regarding Jones. Watched the playoffs, the finals in particular, and thought to themselves, you know who the Rangers need in their top 6, Zach Jones.

couple of weeks ago. shows compensation in picks for offer sheets. seems we’re out on that unless we get back our 2nd for next year.
Poor Cuylle, paying for the mistake of needlessly tossing piles of cash at RFA Lafreniere (and Fox prior).
Carey I agree (and I meant to write top pairings). I don’t see Jones as more than a 3rd pair guy who from time to time can step up if someone is injured.
But doing more of what they’ve done with him the past two years is a waste of an asset. Just move him and be done with it, there is no future for him here.
Peterka is a LW …why would Drury want another
LW?
