NY Rangers (34-32-6) vs Anaheim Ducks (31-32-8)
• 28 Mar 2025 22:00 EDT
• Honda Center, Anaheim
• TV: MSG2, SN, TVAS, Victory+, KCOP-13 •
The Rangers continue their left coast road trip with a stop in Anaheim to visit with the Ducks and former mates Trouba, Strome and Vatrano. The Ducks have no shot of getting WC2 in the Western Conference. The bigger question is, do the Rangers have one for WC2 in the East? Certainly the teams they are competing with are doing everything they can to keep the Rangers in this race but, for whatever reason, the team just refuses to step up.
Entering the match the NYR are 3-6-1 of the last 10, with the most recent a loss to the Kings. The Ducks come in 4-5-1, recent wins over BOS and NSH with a loss between those to CAR. They aren’t pushovers by any means and if that is what the Rangers think going into the game, they will likely lose.
Line-up wise, Shesterkin (2.80 GAA, 0.908 SV%) is expected in net for the Rangers and Gibson (2.72 GAA, 0.913 SV%) for the Ducks. The forward combos are expected to be nearly identical to the Kings game except Berard will replace the injured Rempe and Carrick returns to center the fourth line. Parssinen is Prucha’d as are Jones and de Haan on defense; Vaakanainen will play on the third pair to the left of Schneider. For the Ducks the only question is if Zegras will play after missing practice Thursday because of illness.
The refs overnight are Trevor Hanson (no relation, 726 GP) and virtually cherry Michael Sullivan (19 GP). Both appear eager to call penalties and Hanson has issues with visitors. Rangers better watch their sticks tonight.
Keys to a Ranger victory: If they need a key this late in the season they should ask Vinz Clortho, Keymaster of Gozer for advice.
On this date in history: Jeff Beukeboom celebrates his 60th birthday.

Here we are….. unable to take our eyes off the train wreck that is this Rangers team.
Killorn skates like Harold Schnepts…and he blew past K Poke
We’re about to be the Canucks to Anaheim’s Blue jackets.
Frankly, lose a point here and they deserve to (and likely will) miss the playoffs.
Miller is -2, worst on the team. Borgen is -1.
Only Ranger defensemen at a minus.
Where is Curt Gowdy? I can’t believe what I just saw
Rangers dominate faceoffs except for the most important one in OT
73 games of shaking my head. I have carpel tunnel in my neck.
I say Baby Uncle Leo in OT and then will wait to listen to Lavy post game
Mutts
Embarrassing.
That’s just how you wouod have scripted it. How many times have we seen these guys drop a game late to a bottom dweller?
We all knew it was coming….and boom high speed train wreck. How pathetic and disgusting. No heart and desire at all….no fire in the belly. And now the interviews and the excuses. I’m sick of excuses they just stink.
Won’t catch me staying up tomorrow night.
This one will last a lunchtime.
Gorgeous play by the Ducks, tho… their kids took Rangers vets back to school.
They should all kill themselves. I hope they lose every game the rest of the season.
I’m gonna boo the schnitt out of them when they come down here for their second to last game of the season in a couple of weeks.
Wow. What an implosion
Cruise control broken
Pp couldn’t come through
Giving up a shorty kam instead of jones on PP2
Brutal! Just brutal! This is the sort of loss that normally gets a coach canned. However, this organisation does things very differently. Oi!!
Absolute Losers and 93 was laughing it up on bench when it was 4 to 2…
This is rock bottom. The Pens should be scouting potential 1OA because it’s coming their way next year. It will be the last first pick the Rangers give away for many years. Bad teams (except the Nets) keep their picks.
What a sad sack of low energy s#!t Meeka is..April 18th start working on getting this ballerina off the roster. April 19th now do the same w 79
Laviolette shouldn’t be behind the bench tomorrow. But this is the Rangers. They’ll probably give him an extension before the end of the season.
Boyle has had it with them..im sure Vally feels the same way. Hank would give them a pass.
Trade the whole godamn team. I used to like some of these guys and thought they should keep them around, but this game just ripped that tether to shreds.
Might want to take the Sharks tonight
I can’t even load up the post-game show stream. It must be pissed too
This is like watching General Francisco Franco die. It goes on and on and on.
These Rangers are valiantly trying to remain dead.
i just want the pick to be this year. unprotected next year is no bueno
Old Ranger Fan
Why you keep saying 1st ao will go to the Pens? what am i missing?
Bettman should just let the Filth have wc2 seeing nobody else wants it
Next season the pens will get our first rounder and we will suck next year. Plus it’s Pittsburgh and they need a new Crosby/Lemieux.
Disco Mika: “what? I scored one.”
I’m done with KAM. His problem is between the ears. Get what you can for him.
Good morning kids, smell ya later
“Next season the pens will get our first rounder”
I guess I slept through it but when did they get it and for what?
Anaheim scored 3 goals on their last 6 shots. This must’ve been karma for the Vancouver game.
vanc traded the 1st from us to pens
The first rounder we sent to Vancouver for Miller was then traded to Pittsburgh for Marcus Pettersson
Found it from NHL site
“The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired the New York Rangers’ 2025 first-round draft pick (conditional), forward Danton Heinen, defenseman Vincent Desharnais, as well as 2024 third-round draft pick Melvin Fernstrom from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for defenseman Marcus Pettersson and forward Drew O’Connor, it was announced today by President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas.”
Wow… fuggin terrible!!
Thanks, guys. Now I’m depressed.

what are the conditions, tho?
If it’s top 13 this season it’s ours and next year’s is theirs.
If not they get this year’s pick.
Good thing Valley wasn’t working tonight. He’d probably be fired after he let his thoughts out.
we keep the pick this year if we are top 13 in draft. then it goes to next year unprotected.
better we be the 14th or 15th pick to let the pick be this year
allegedly next years draft deeper and better
and we’re likely to be worse next year.
The Rangers will be one of the worst teams in the league next year. Look at what they did tonight. The Pens will win the lottery again and this time they don’t even have to tank. The Rangers will do it for them. This one will last a lifetime.
This year’s draft sucks and we’re going to suck more next season, so we don’t want this year’s pick.
Great. I get the post-game to finally stream and they’re basically done. App is only slightly better than the Rangers.
Right now they are in the 10th or 11th spot depending if you go by points or percentage. Did that look like a team that is catching anyone? Drury will move Kreider, can Lavy and hire another retread. Rinse and repeat. Hopefully that will be his last coach. Dolan will eventually notice the lack of playoff revenues.
I see. Well, we better not get top 13!
“The acquisition of the conditional 2025 first-round pick gives the Penguins 29 selections over the next three NHL drafts, which includes four first-round selections and 15 picks in the first three rounds. No team has more draft picks, or selections in the first three rounds, over the next three NHL Drafts than Pittsburgh.”
Shoot me in the face, plz…twice.
That’s crazy. None of that was from Crosby, making, or LeTang. Drury is pond scum.
I fell asleep last night when the score was 4-2. I woke up to see we lost in OT. ::::Pauses to think:::::: Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaahhahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahahahaha
Attention please! Attention please! You are now on the Lifetime Channel.
Not at all surprised at the outcome. This is what we van expect for a long, long time. I hat the pens!!! And we will be the organization that hands them the next superstar. Dolan is a trader, Drury is a fool, Laviolette sux, and the team is a clown show. Other than that we are just fine.
This team belongs on the Gong show!
The Pittsburgh GMs have been working on a rebuild while Drury is fiddling as his pizza burns. This will be the first of many years they don’t make the playoffs. Next year they will be making a big deal about their centennial season while putting this same awful product on the ice. Dolan should be looking to remake the franchise, but I suspect that like the fanbase he is shocked at how quickly this whole thing has crumbled. He also seems to be preoccupied with challenging the NBA league management about real and perceived grievances concerning how they have treated him. I suspect he will eventually be on the phone with Slats figuring out what to do. We may get another purge at some point. If Drury communicates with Dolan as well as he does with the fans he will be part of it.
The Bruins and Pens are in about the same position as the Rangers. Who do you think will turn it around sooner? I’d bet on the ones who have won a cup in the last 30 years.
