The Rangers notched a must win two points last night at MSG against the sinking Predators. Quick, playing in his 800th game made 34 saves, including an outstanding 19 in the final period when the Rangers stopped playing defense.
Luckily, the Rangers played defense in the first two periods and managed to also take a 3-0 lead. Goals by Panarin (24), the Millers (JT (15) PPG, KAM (5)) and youngster Berard (4). Details below.

The Rangers are back at it again tonight at 19:00 EST, hosting the Icelanders at MSG. Telecast provided by MSG, MSGSN and NHLN.

Sorry kids keeping things short as have guests and it is already +12 and bluebird! Caught the pond hockey period.. ugh.
My thoughts on Drury remain the same – prefer him to be gone sooner than later. He made a mess and has really just covered things up at the margins with latest moves. He should not be the one giving out more contracts.
Little Jonesy risks being stung bad at a crucial moment in a crucial game by that predictable, often reckless back-pass he constantly utilizes while trying to move up ice.
This is a repost as once again I missed the New Post banner.
Rempe skates pretty well straight ahead. Balance may always be an issue because of his size and his elbows will always be high on the average player. He had a couple of chances last night.
He’s a work in progress. He’s not the first tall guy who has played in the league. Boyle is tall. Can he help him at all? Would Chara talk to him?
He also needs to stop fighting like George Chuvalo and learn to defend a bit. Use that reach. I recall Larry Merchant describing one of Chuvalo’s fights with Ali as 15 rounds of Chuvalo mercilessly attacking his opponents fists with his head. That’s how Rempe fights.

At least Jonsey didn’t join the party behind his net last night like he did on the Leaf’s game winner. That’s a hard way to learn lessons.
Remper has trouble controlling his opponents ‘throwing shoulder’. The pros know want to reduce the ability of the opponent to roll his shoulder and prevent the physics of F=MxA. His left hand is grabbing jersey but not sliding it over to the front of the right shoulder which would prevent leverage for opponent and also allows to control the jersey wrestling match. Kid’s just bombs away; dangerous.
Rempe’s major problem in his fighting technique comes down to upper body strength.
The best learn to throw with either hand.
Beez running a Guest House? None of my beezwax.
coos
Christopher Guest’s house?
Beez assiduously lifting onerous weights in the basement anticipating his first surly, unruly intoxicant. Woe betide the fool.
Was looking at which teams on the cusp of winning could use Kreider. I did not do the, would Kreider go there thing. I came up with a few, but the team I really landed on was the Kings. I saw that if Rantanen were to go back on the market, they’d be in on him. The Kings could certainly use someone to score some goals. If I’m the Rangers, the guy I’m asking for is Alex Laferier. The Rangers need RWs
If his back is okay, THE could help any contender.
If Drury trades Krieder Meeka March is over …he will curl up into a ball by the weekend
The is not healthy I will be speechless if he’s traded by Friday. Would you trade Laffo-Busto for JJ Peterka?
I would not be surprised to see Jones and Smith elsewhere this week.
Jack Hughes may be done for the year.
Lest we misremember, didn’t THE almost buy the ranch a couple few seasons back?
“Official Sam Rosen merchandise is here! Honor Sam’s final season behind the mic by grabbing this exclusive t-shirt, celebrating Sam’s iconic phrase known throughout the league: ‘It’s a power play goal!’
“Limited supplies available, so shop now to secure this special merch.”
No word, yet, on “And this one will last a lifetime!” sweatshirts.
And the official $200. “You’re right, Joe” cashmere scarf.
What about the “Rangers skating real well, Joe…….. grbchrrchdkdkxlghksjsghhhh and it goes in!” hoodie?
If Drury planned to trade Laffy he wouldn’t have extended him
Laferriere (Harvard/USA) would be a catch, cost controlled you forward playing smart 2 way hockey. Meeka and Miller would nice fit over there as Meeka can play wing with Kopitar and balance their top 6, like to get Edmundson back in deal for LD vet w size and snarl.
Meeka/KAM/Jones for Laferriere, Edmundsen, Brandon Clarke (top prospect / RD) & a R2 ‘27. Frees up cap space for Bennett also
2 points out of a WC spot and playing the Islandouches on home ice. Knowing how they’ve been all season, I fully expect them to rip our hearts out and be a complete no-show for this one. Now would be a great time to shock the sh-t out of us all and actually go for the jugular.
Every win this week reduces the likelihood of a major trade….that should be incentive enough
This week is likely the most pivotal week when it comes to their playoff chances: Isles, Caps, Ottawa, Columbus. 3 of those games are against teams they’re in direct competition with for a WC spot, so those are all swing games.
The next 4 games will reveal their true identity when the pressure is on full force.
I can take three out of four losses this week, so long as they beat the Islanders. I don’t see this team making a cup run, so might as well sit it out. Maybe Laf and others will learn that you can’t just mail it in. I also hope missing the playoffs will expedite a change at GM, Coaching (NHL & AHL) & scouting staffs.
NYR 5 Piles 4
JT scores all 5 goals
🙂
Laffo earns my vote for this year’s most disappointing Ranger. Igor not far behind.
Anybody see this picture of Englund face after the fight looks so bad like it got run over by a truck? Makes me wonder if its been edited. Ouch.
Upstate
I have to go with Igor over Busto. But they both dropped the puck.
*NEW POST*
Mika then Laffy then Igor then fox then miller then Kreider
most disappointing
Kreider injury gets him a bit of a pass in my book
Booing Tony D? Lotta Georgiev fans?
